I got a question from John.
It says, "Help John.
I'm the biggest loser."
Oh man!
Shawn says, "Hi John, I'm 25 years old and I'm a loser."
I think there's maybe a Losers Anonymous here.
"In 2017, I've been fired from a job within less than a month, applied for a top business
school programs and got rejected from all of them after months of studying, currently
unemployed, hired some people to build my app and got scammed, have enough friends to
count on one hand, and most recently, developed feelings for a girl, but she's only interested
in hooking up."
Obviously not with him, apparently, otherwise he wouldn't have a problem here.
"I want to learn coding and attend a coding bootcamp, but it's hard to get the motivation."
Man, Shawn, I got to look at this again.
What's happened to you?
You got fired from a job, you applied for these business school programs after studying
and you got rejected from all of them, you're unemployed, you got scammed, you don't have
friends, this girl that you like she wants to roll around and hook up with all the guys
from the club.
What can you do?
Are you loser?
Are you a loser, Shawn?
No, Shawn, you're not a loser.
What you are is experienced.
This is good.
This is a good year for you.
I know that right now this year fuckin' hurts.
I know you're like, "Man, 2017, shitty.
Do not want to repeat this."
Here's a good thing.
You won't have to repeat this because you're taking your lumps now.
You're 25?
Good!
Take your lumps now because it's better now.
It's better to get experience early and to face this and the fact that you're emailing
me and you're still here and you're still considering a coding bootcamp even though
you're saying it's hard to find motivation tells me that you've got at least some amount
of grit and you're developing more of it.
You can look at this—everything in life we can look at as 2 ways.
We can look at it and we can say, "Oh God, why do you have your thumb on me and why are
you pushing me down and crushing me?
Why do you hate me so much, God?
All this bad stuff or fortune or fate, you're such a cruel bitch, why do you treat me this
way?"
That's one way we could look at life.
Or we can say, "Man, what doesn't kill us makes us stronger.
Bring it on, suckers!
Bring it on!
I'm in the training grounds right now.
My whole life is a training ground where I get stronger everyday, every kind of crap
that comes down my path is an opportunity for me to learn, is an opportunity for me
to grow, it's a new challenge and I get stronger.
I get to the point where I can take on more challenges."
You could view everything in life through those 2 lenses and it's up to you to decide.
You could take this experience in 2017 that you've had, you could take this loss of a
job, the girl that you developed feelings for that wants to go play the field and the
business schools you got rejected from and the people that scammed you from your app
and you could say, "Man, I just must be a loser.
I just must suck."
And learn nothing from it and just think that fate is a bitch and fate is treating you badly.
God's got his thumb on you, pushing you down and crushing you.
Or you can say, "There's a lot of learning here."
You could examine each one of these things and say, "What can I learn from this situation?
Losing that job, why did I lose that job?
What can I do to improve?
I figured out what's not working, so now I could figure out what is working."
You could say, "Hey, there's some area for improvement there, obviously.
I got rejected from these business schools.
Why?
What's going on there?"
You could say, "Okay, a really good one, I paid a bunch of people to build an app for
me and I got scammed."
Really examine that.
What happened there?
Were you trying to be greedy?
Were you trying to quickly build this app and make some money and you thought, "I could
just hire someone to build this asp for me."
Did you vet them out? did you do your due diligence?
Did you make mistakes there that you can learn from?
With this girl, are you too much of a nice guy?
Check out my video on being a nice guy or the man—actually, check out the play list
on being a better man and attracting women so that you can develop some of those skills.
You can realize that there's a problem here.
There's a reason why this chick wants to play the field and is not interested in you and
you can work on that.
There's all these opportunities that you have discovered in 2017 to work on yourself, to
develop your character, to increase your ability and to make 2018 better and 2019 better.
It's good sometimes when life kicks you in the nuts.
This is going to be a turning point in your life, one way or the other.
You're either going to do what you said like you emailed me in the subject line and become
a loser.
That's one choice.
Or this is going to be the stuff that forges your future that makes you the champion and
makes you succeed in the future because you've learned from this experience, because you
don't want to go through that shit again because you're willing to do what it takes to avoid
all of those things and you're willing to recognize those things.
Don't let this—don't tie your identity up in mistakes that you've made.
You've got to make mistakes in life.
You got to fail.
You got to experience some of these things.
It's just that the people that are real losers—I'll tell you who's losers.
The people who are real losers are not the people that shitty stuff happens to them and
they make mistakes or they make a lot of mistakes.
Usually the people who are winners are the people who make a lot of mistakes.
The people who are real losers are the people who make the same mistake over and over and
over again because they deny that it's a mistake, because they deny that they did anything wrong
and they're not willing to change or improve and they constantly think about how God is
putting their thumb on them, crushing them, or fate is just so bad or they have the victim
mentality.
Check out my video on victim mentality, don't have the victim mentality.
Those are the real losers in life because they're never going to do anything.
They're never going to accomplish anything.
The winners are the people who have a 2017 like your 2017 Shawn and they use that to
make them stronger.
That's who's the winners.
You can still be a winner.
I think you are a winner because I feel like you emailed me because of that reason.
There you go.
That's just my perception on it.
Feel free to disagree.
Leave a comment below and tell Shawn he's as loser.
No, I'm just kidding.
Don't do that.
Now it's too late.
Now you guys are going to do that.
That's all right.
It's all right.
It will make him tougher.
