Meghan revealed her growing baby bump on Monday night as she stepped out for the British Fashion
Awards.
The mother-to-be cradled her baby bump with both hands as she took to the stage to present
an award to her wedding dress designer Clare Waight Keller.
But the move prompted some negative comments on social media questioning why Meghan is
always holding her bump.
However an expert has revealed that Meghan's loving pose could be because she is feeling
protective of her unborn baby.
Speaking to Femail, Liz Halliday, deputy head of midwifery at Private Midwives, said: "At
public events, Meghan may feel more protective of her baby and thus cradle her bump more
than usual.
"Mothers may feel that stroking their bump calms the baby in some situations and during
public events Meghan may be either consciously or sub-consciously attempting to do this."
And another expert added that the move could be positive for the baby.
Katherine Graves, founder of KG Hypnobirthing, said: "Meghan is practicing responsive natural
parenting and touching, speaking and cradling her bump will be very beneficial for the baby."
At the glitzy Royal Albert Hall event Meghan presented the womenswear designer of the year
award to Ms Waight Keller, artistic director at Givenchy.
The 37-year-old wore a one-shouldered black Givenchy gown which showed off her prominent
bump.
Taking centre stage at the event, the Duchess held one or both hands on her stomach as she
presented the award.
In a speech Meghan said: "It's such a pleasure to be here, celebrating British fashion and
British designers, in my new home in the UK."
It comes after Meghan revealed her pregnancy in October as she landed in Sydney for a Commonwealth
tour with Prince Harry, just five months after the pair married.
The parents-to-be visited Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Tonga, with Meghan already starting
to cradle her baby bump.
And Meghan only has a few more months to go before her little one is due in spring 2019.
Ahead of the birth, Meghan and Harry are moving from Kensington Palace to Frogmore Cottage
in Windsor.
Royal SHOCK!
Meghan Markle BREAKS Royal protocol AGAIN with 'VULGAR' fashion move.
MEGHAN MARKLE rebelliously broke Royal protocol again on Monday night when she attended the
British Fashion Awards pulling off a "vulgar" fashion move.
The Duchess of Sussex dazzled in a stunning black one-shouldered Givenchy gown on the
stage of the Royal Albert Hall to present an award to her wedding dress designer Clare
Waight Keller.
She completed her look with gold "Karat" heel by Tamara Mellon and a gold cuff bracelet
by Pippa Small.
But Royal fans could not help but notice an addition to Meghan's ensable, which is considered
a major faux-pas by the Queen.
Royal protocol reportedly deems coloured nail varnish and fake nails as "vulgar", believed
to be based on the Queen's personal preference.
This means female Royals opt to wear subtle shades on their nails.
Queen Elizabeth is said to favour the subtle hue of Essie's Ballet Slippers pale pink
polish and has worn the shade since 1989.
The pale shade contrasts well with the white gloves the Queen often wears.
Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, is also said to be a fan of the nail varnish - as is Princess
Eugenie, who wore the shade for her wedding to Jack Brooksbank on October 12.
But Meghan, who according to her father Thomas Markle likes to "bend the rules", does
not seem to care about the colour of her nails or the other strict rules that the protocol
comprises.
The Queen is said to have disagreed with Meghan's choices on a few occasions.
During a royal visit to Runcorn, in Cheshire, Meghan is reported to have irritated the Monarch
by declining to follow her example and wear a hat.
Concern was also raised in August when she wore a dress to the hit musical Hamilton which
finished several inches above the knee, a breech of Royal protocol.
According to the Mail on Sunday, last month the Duchess was advised to dress more traditionally
at certain events.
A palace source revealed: "Meghan is being told she needs to start dressing less like
a Hollywood star and more like a Royal."
