I think having everybody have the opportunity to access musical

instruments through the Vancouver Public Library is an amazing initiative. We all

need more music in our lives. We all want the opportunity to open up our emotional

worlds and taking up a musical instrument, whether it's getting

reacquainted with one or playing one that we've never played before, it allows

us to access that emotional world and that connection which is very powerful.

John Carpay on Public Library's Security Fee for Meghan Murphy Lecture - Duration: 2:32.

Megan Murphy is a leading Canadian feminist based in Vancouver and author of the Feminist Current website.

In November of 2018 she booked space

with the Vancouver Public Library

to hold an event on January 10, 2019

A few weeks later

VPL issued a public statement saying they did not agree with

the views of Feminist Current and they said that Megan Murphy's opinions were concerning.

They didn't say why, but Megan Murphy has opinions that are offensive to transgender people.

In December of 2018 the Library says that there are concerns about public protests and demands

$2,047.50 in security fees!

It's the same old story of censorship by security fees.

This story plays itself out on

university campuses as well as public libraries across Canada and

space is supposed to be available to all people regardless of viewpoint or opinion.

Somebody books the space,

people who disagree with the viewpoint being expressed threaten protests--and

protests can be legitimate peaceful counter protests--but quite often

they're not legitimate because they turn into

obstruction and disruption and physical blockading which are not valid exercises of free expression.

Then, typically the university or the library

responds by demanding thousands of dollars in security fees from the event organisers

But they're not asking the questions. They should be asking who is causing the risk to security?

Is it the people who want to exercise their legal rights to express their opinions by

hosting and organizing an event, or is it the people who are threatening protests? The answer is obvious to that.

Why should people who want only to exercise their democratic rights to express their opinions

have to pay for the bad behavior of those who engage in illegal conduct like blocking and obstructing and blockading

These are questions which the Vancouver Public Library may end up answering in court. I'm John Carpay

Thanks for listening

University of Minnesota School of Public Health - Duration: 3:26.

The School of Public Health has been a transformational experience.

experience here has allowed me to not only gain the academic credentials I

need to do what I want to do in my life and help others, but also has armed me

with personal skills that I'll use in my personal life.

I'm a faculty member here in the School Public Health and I also went to school here.

When I had the opportunity to return as a faculty member, I was really excited.

So, our students aren't just in the classroom learning — we are always looking for

opportunities for them to be out in the community.

As graduate students, not only are we having all of this rigorous training in our classrooms,

but we need to have to have that field experience.

One thing that I really appreciated at the School of Public Health was the mentoring program who do mentor current students.

I have mentored a few students in my time in state service. The primary strength of

this institution is that since we do have this large academic health center

and because we do have this sort of strong reputation, it allows students a

broad array of opportunities — research opportunities, and the ability to sort of

learn from experts in a wide variety of domains. The whole health community here

in Minneapolis — you've got access to tons of organizations: we've got the Minnesota

Department of Health, the Minneapolis Health Department, tons of different nonprofits,

3M. The school's really supported me in my international aspirations. I was able

to spend three weeks in the Dominican Republic working on a women empowerment

initiative. That experience was amazing. It's really changed the way I look at

public health and how I myself act as a public health professional.

The career services staff here is top-notch. They really do an in-depth look at what

your interests are and what your career goals are, and using that knowledge they

are really well-versed in how you can land those jobs when you're starting

your career.

The University of Minnesota has something that is not offered in many

places. It's a very small-family feeling in a very large environment. One of the

nice things about the Twin Cities is I like to say there's a little bit of

something for everybody. Being an out-of-state student was intimidating at

first. I was worried of that I wouldn't have any culture or events or hobbies

that I'd have here that I'd like to do, but that was not the case when I came

here. I found so many things that I love to do: I get to go see some of the best

music shows, best theater, comedy...the microbrewery scene here is pretty

incredible. The opportunity to really potentially save countless lives through

my work — honestly, it's the main reason I'm doing this. It really is that

satisfaction of: yes, I prevented these people from having any sort of health

issue or even saving their life. It's one of the coolest things, I think, of public

health. Since I've been here it's become not only a community as far as the

school goes, but my own personal community, and I really think that's

important when looking at a graduate program is having that built-in sense of

culture and family and community. Community. Vibrant community. It really is

the community here — it's about really helping the people and being here for

improving community health. I know that with the training that I have here I'll

be able to succeed in anything.

Royall feud Megan Marco is breaking rules by rushing royal family very quickly

Megan Marco is attempting to bring the royal family into the 21st century but is doing it very quickly

which could lead to criticism from Royalists warned expert Claudia Joseph a

Royal expert claimed Megan Marco is modernizing the royal family too quickly and needs to be careful as Royalists may consider it

too much

Claudia Joseph also believes Megan is gaining more attention from the press than the Duchess of Cambridge because she's breaking the rules

speaking on the BBC's victoria derbyshire programme

The royal insider said the reality is that kate is a very different person. She's very quiet

She's not trying to change the royal family. She's not trying to do anything differently. She's like William

She doesn't like the publicity. She doesn't like to be in the public eye

She has been in the press there have been lots of stories about her over time

Not so quickly perhaps but she's not breaking the rules in the same way as Megan

The author of Tate the making of a princess then added

The reality is people admire Megan because she's trying to bring the royal family into the 21st century

But she's doing it very quickly. So Royalists are not going to like that because it's too too much

It comes as the Duchess father Thomas Markel appeared on ITV

Good morning Britain to reveal he attempts to get in touch with his daughter, but is yet to receive an answer from her?

During his with Pierce and Susanna Reid. Mr. Markel insisted. He was hopeful he would see his daughter in the soon to be born grandchild

He said I'm still hopeful I really think there is always a possibility

She's been through quite a lot and it's not an easy task. I think she'll reach out in time and I hope she does

It was recently reported that Megan Markel and Prince Harry have declined in

offer to stay at Kate and William's country pile over Christmas a

Royal source apparently toward the Sun. There's not a huge amount of room that's on during ham. So it's quite surprising

Maybe they just want their own space things are civil between the couples, but they don't spend much time together

The Megan Marco and Kate Middleton Feud rumors may be prompted by Megan trying to be Diana an expert claimed

Tom Bower an authorized biographer of Prince Charles said the problem is in my view that she is trying to be Diana

she's trying to adopt the new role and the tragedy of the story as it lands in the same way unless

Someone steps and from the palace and says look, this is the way it's done here

Royal row how Prince Harry denied Prince William's dream you can't

Prince Harry was the one to bring older brother Prince William down to earth when he announced he wanted to become a police officer

Reminding him of his duty to be king

Prince William is the first born son to Prince Charles and Princess Diana

And has been second in line to the throne since he was born in 1982

It is Kate Middleton's husband's duty to become king. When his father the Prince of Wales passes away

However, the Duke of Cambridge had his own plans of a career when he was younger and he dreamt of becoming a police officer in

2016 documentary Prince William royalty in my family

It is revealed how the father to Prince George

Princess Charlotte and pence Lewis shared his dream with younger brother Harry who had to bring the future King down to earth

They revealed how William wanted to become a policeman so he could protect his mother Princess Diana

However, Hare denied him his dream by replying you. Can't you have got to be king?

the documentary claims that Diana relied on her eldest son for comfort and advice and it has even been

Reported in the past he would pass tissues to his tearful mother under the bathroom door when she was upset

The documentary went on to explain how despite the exceptions and pressures of the monarchy

Diana was determined to raise William and Harry as normally as possible

He was part of a multiracial society where poverty war and disease was present they added

It seems William's goal to work in the police force came and went swiftly as the prince has since gone on to take on royal

duty

'Doomsday' no deal Brexit plans include public warnings about stockpiling food - News Live - Duration: 5:02.

Theresa May has pressed the button on a dramatic escalation of emergency no deal Brexit preparations as the clock ticks down towards leaving the EU in 100 days time

Downing Street announced that ministers were "ramping up" doomsday scenario planning and that businesses and citizens should immediately prepare for leaving without a deal

Cabinet ministers agreed that contingency plans including putting 3,500 troops on standby and reserving ferry space for critical medical supplies should now be enacted

But Number 10 denied that the Government might have to bring in last minute legislation to permit a national state of emergency after March 29th if the UK crashes out on hostile terms

The public will start receiving alarming warnings through TV adverts and social media after Christmas about issues including stockpiling food and medicine, travel arrangements and security after Christmas

They will include updates on applying early for a passport, warnings about phone roaming charges and losing the right to take action over dangerous products

Why 100,000 families with a "less disabled" child will receive less money though Universal Credit   Northern Ireland could be forced to take drastic measures to stop the lights going out as a worst-case scenario no deal Brexit could scupper the all-island electricity market

Ministers fear civil unrest while the Bank of England governor Mark Carney has warned the pound would crash, inflation will soar and interest rates would rise if the UK crashes out

Businesses will also be advised to kick off their own worst case scenario planning which in some cases could involve moving operations and jobs out of the UK

HMRC is this week sending 80,000 emails to businesses and traders who will be particularly affected by leaving without a deal, on customs, excise and regulatory changes

But .   "They agreed that delivering the deal remains the Government's top priority and best mitigation against no deal," the PM's spokesman said

"This is sensible Government making sure the public are prepared for all scenarios

"    Government insiders have suggested that the announcement could help focus the minds of MPs on the drastic scenarios that could unfold in the UK leaves without a deal

They also hope it would finally convince the EU that they were serious about the prospect of no deal, in a bid to force more concessions over the unpopular Irish backstop

But Mrs May's spokesman said that full implementation of the 106 no deal "technical notices" was about "good, sensible planning" and that "other considerations don't come into it"

Whitehall departments have been ordered to focus on no deal planning - kicking other crucial government business into the long grass - while civil servants will be working through Christmas to deliver on the plans

During a lengthy cabinet meeting, Work and Pensions Secretary Amber Rudd warned ministers that while preparing for a no deal was a sensible precaution "just because you put a set belt on doesn't mean you should crash the car"

And she told them to think of the risk of job losses in their constituencies under no deal

But there was a row brewing over the prospect of a "managed" no deal which is the preferred option of up to 11 cabinet Brexiteers including Penny Mordaunt and Andrea Leadsom, but fiercely opposed by the Remainers

Under the proposal, the UK would pay some of the £39bn EU divorce bill in return for a transition period

Brussels sources have dismissed the idea as unworkable.  Justice Secretary David Gauke, who has said he would rather resign than back no deal, told colleagues that "a managed no deal is not a viable option"

One cabinet source said he added: "It's not on offer from the EU and the responsibility of cabinet ministers is not to propagate unicorns but to slay them

"  Several ministers also pushed for MPs to be given a vote on all the Brexit options available, but the idea was firmly rejected by Mrs May

Ms Mordaunt said the proposal was equivalent to gerrymandering the result.    Later,

He said he would resign the whip and vote against the government in "any way necessary" to stop the UK crashing out of the EU

The Treasury will release another £2bn for no deal planning, allocated to individual departments, bringing the total funding to £4bn

Emergency legislation including bills on trade, immigration and fisheries will have to be rushed through the Commons in just a few weeks in the event of no deal

Watching porn on buses and in other public places could be banned - Duration: 6:22.

Viewing pornography on buses and in other public places could be banned in a crackdown on sordid behaviour, it has emerged

Margot James, the digital minister, said she would consider calls from MPs for watching porn on mobile phones or laptops in public to be outlawed

In October, the Commons women and equalities committee demanded the change, saying 'public places must be made safe for all women and girls'

They said bus firms' licences should be changed to enable the ban, while all trains should block adult material from their wi-fi networks

Miss James suggested the Government would consider the calls during a Commons debate on Monday evening, saying they were 'definitely worth considering'

The minister also admitted her current plans to crack down on underage porn use by implementing an age verification process were not 'foolproof'

During the debate, Tory MP Vicky Ford, a member of the committee, said: 'Public places are not age specific, and the committee also suggested that viewing online pornography in public places, such as on buses and trains, should be restricted

Do the Government intend to go further by introducing a restriction on viewing online pornography in public places?'Miss James replied: 'I must congratulate the women and equalities committee on its extremely valuable work in this area

'Although the regulations do not touch on the viewing of pornography in public places, we have heard the recommendation of the committee and what my honourable friend has just said about that problem

That might be an indirect way of making such material accessible to the very children and young people whom the regulations are designed to help

' RELATED ARTICLES Previous 1 Next Battle to save Christmas: Desperate stores pin hopes on

That's one MASSIVE mushroom! Forest fungus weighing 400 tons. Share this article Share Mrs Ford's call was backed up by Tory MP Eddie Hughes, who said: 'The potential for people to view such things inadvertently in public has increased dramatically, as has the potential for children to be exposed to it

' Miss James replied: 'I follow my honourable friend's logic. That was the conclusion that Ofcom reached

'It is definitely worth considering the recommendation that he and my honourable friend the Member for Chelmsford [Vicky Ford] have made on reviewing the law on viewing pornography in a public place

'Ministers are planning to bring in age verification for many porn sites, although its implementation has been repeatedly delayed and it may not now happen until Easter

Maria Miller, the chairman of the women and equalities committee, criticised the fact that age verification will not affect a large amount of porn on the web, because social media firms will not be included

She said: 'Parents who are listening to this debate may go away with the impression that everything on the internet will be subject to an age barrier

'Will the minister be clearer, for the benefit of parents who are listening, that the regulations will not include social media?'What is she doing to ensure that social media platforms do not inadvertently become the way that young people under the age of 15 access pornography in the future?'Miss James replied: 'The regulations are a very important step forward in preventing children from viewing pornography online

'In particular, we are closing the loophole whereby children can stumble across such material inadvertently

However, my right honourable friend is right that the regulations do not extend to social media platforms that contain pornographic content – that is a relatively small minority of the content that they provide

'This is not a foolproof guarantee that young people and children will not be exposed to pornography online

It is a significant step forward, but there is the potential for people to access material on social media platforms, which do not fall within the scope of the regulations unless more than a third of their average content is pornographic

'The minister called on social media sites such as Facebook to do more to tackle nudity on its platform, including removing it from private groups

UTLA March for Public Education - Duration: 3:00.

[When our students and teachers are under attack, what do we do?]

[Stand up! Fight back!]

- Parents see that their schools are struggling.

We have parents here. We have students here.

We have parent volunteers, teachers.

Just to see us coming together in unity

I think it's like absolutely marvelous.

This is like the best gift that we can give our kids.

- LAUSD students have among the highest class sizes in the state.

Lowering class size is the most effective improvement

that we can make to our students daily learning environment.

I'm here to support all the teachers

who have helped me reach all my dreams and do everything that I've ever wanted.

[ Billionaires can't teach our kids! ]

[ Billionaires can't teach our kids! ]

- We end this march at the Broad Museum. Eli Broad,

the Waltons of Wal-Mart, and Austin Beutner are anti-union, anti-worker.

- We've been bargaining and negotiating for over two years

and we're telling Austin Beutner and the school board

this is their last opportunity to come clean and give us what our students deserve.

- Let me tell you why it's the Beutner chicken

because he's too chicken to talk to parents.

He's too chicken to talk to the public about his plan.

- Just like in West Virginia,

just like in Oklahoma,

just like in Arizona,

just like last week in Chicago,

when we stand together and act together

we do what is impossible to do alone.

[ Together we fight! ] [ Together we win! ]

- We don't really want to go on strike. We want to be able to

be in the classroom with our students helping them grow, helping them achieve

but this is what we've been forced to do.

So we're out here to demand the respect that we deserve as teachers in the classroom.

- We have the fifth largest economy in California.

I think LAUSD can do better.

- If we are forced to take dramatic action

it will be to defend our schools.

Sisters and brothers, the time draws closer that we may need to

strike in January!

- If the teachers decide to strike, I'm going to strike with them

to have more nurses, more counselors, more librarians in our schools.

- I walked the line in '89, our last strike,

and I'll do it in 2019 if I need to.

[ Austin Beautner, you can't hide! ]

[ We can see your greedy side! ]
