Private pipeline companies can build a pipeline in your backyard
Or through your drinking water supply
Thanks to the abuse by FERC, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, of the government's power of eminent domain
The Appalachian Basin in West Pennsylvania holds some of the world's largest shale deposits
A fleet of ships would create a virtual transatlantic pipeline to supply Ineos' European businesses with the
U.S. gas they desperately needed
The only problem was how to get the gas to the coast
300 miles away
And so a deal was struck with oil company Sunoco to pipe the gas to a facility west of Philadelphia
Eminent domain
allows the government to take a person's land if it is for public use such as to build public roads, schools and parks
But FERC carrying on the U.S. American tradition of the stealing of indigenous lands for exploitative use
Allows the taking of a person's land for the private profit of pipeline and oil and gas companies
It was forest land that was actually under a conservation plan
and that's forest land connected to our homestead
and so now what's happening is that is being turned into an industrial zone. We've gone the legal route
I mean when they
Took us to court for eminent domain we we fought that
The oil and gas taken from underneath land is not always sold to people to heat their homes or keep the lights on
Much of it is sold for export
By private companies for private profit. Eight ships will make their way from Marcus Hook on the banks of the Delaware River
Loaded with a cargo set to re-energize
European and UK manufacturing
Like they never tried to hide that fact
until people stood up to them and said no
I will not you know sign this easement agreement. The company had to start taking people to court
and suing using eminent domain. Then they changed their tune and they started putting out all this stuff about how
it's gonna benefit the local markets and local people and
this and that and
You know we already know that they're working with
European petrochemical companies
to you know move the shale gas to Europe
A new era of gas transportation has begun as the dragons breathe new life into the European chemicals industry
Ineos isn't the type of company that will sit back and wait to see what happens
It's a type of company that will be proactive and define its own future
Off of exploitation you know that's how billions get made like you take from somebody else
You take from the earth without giving anything back. That's the direction that
Pennsylvania is
taking things in favor of corporations. We have at least three
legal avenues that we're still pursuing, but yet, you know they can come and they can
work they can cut trees down they can put pipeline then they can drill through the wetlands
with you know impunity at this point
He said the two words eminent domain which made my husband's head explode
They start sending out letters if you don't sign this easement within 30 days we will proceed
to condemn use eminent domain to condemn your property. It became apparent that I wasn't gonna sign then they threatened me twice
with eminent domain
Protesters marched directly up to a drill perched along the Conestoga River. Lancaster County does not think that the pipeline is welcome here
Williams is not welcome here
Respect these spirits respect the land I think it's an insult
You know I would definitely not go to other people's sites and try to
Destroy their home for the sake of money. As a tribal leader
I have to stay here, so by all means if they're gonna arrest me so be it. They are using us
as their bargaining chips to export
liquefied natural gas to Asia at the expense of Southern Oregon. Y'all want to try and come to move into Louisiana
Ya'll want to try to think about, you know, to try to gain our trust
Y'all can't even gain the trust of Ohio and Pennsylvania. What makes you all want to come to Louisiana, you know?
The agency says refineries in the region already have sufficient supplies and little capacity for processing more crude
And it says Minnesota's demand for gasoline appears unlikely to increase over the long term
This is gonna cross the Missouri and the Mississippi
rivers which 18 million people directly get their water from these two rivers
It is up to the citizens in the community to make sure that their water and their air stay healthy
So why can these oil and gas and pipeline companies
use eminent domain for private profit rather than the public good
Primarily FERC is rubber-stamping agency
Unfortunately funded by the projects that it approves so in order for it to keep existing
It has to keep approving projects. FERC is an incredibly abusive agency
that is totally in the pockets of the pipeline industry
They always put pipelines over people, pipelines over the environment and our natural resources
They are not to be trusted. Is the private profit of one company at the cost of climate change
clean air and water and people's land for the public good?

Clintons Panic as Damning Footage from 2015 Goes Public - Duration: 13:00.
Clintons Panic as Damning Footage from 2015 Goes Public
Hillary Clinton is undoubtedly furious right now after it was confirmed that Bill Clinton
played a major role in convincing Donald Trump to run for president.
Daily Mail reported that in her new book, New York Times reporter Amy Chozick alleges
that Bill encouraged Trump to run for president while golfing with him one year before the
2016 election.
The two would golf together frequently in New York, as they had been friends for years.
Chozick wrote that Bill "causally encouraged" Trump to run for president, saying his candidacy
"would roil the Republican field."
As a smug liberal, Bill assumed that Trump would never be able to beat Hillary, but boy,
was he wrong!
Chozick also confirms that Bill really did meet with then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch
on the tarmac of the Phoenix International Airport in June of 2016 to try and convince
her to not charge Hillary for her use of a personal email server during her time as Secretary
of State.
Chozick described this infamous meeting as a "mild charm offensive that he thought
would help Hillary."
Days after the meeting, Lynch announced that Hillary would not be charged.
However, the meeting with Bill blew up in their faces when the American people found
out about it, as they accused him of influencing Lynch to save his wife.
In her book "Chasing Hillary: Ten Years, Two Presidential Campaigns and One Intact
Glass Ceiling," Chozick portrays Bill as a huge liability on Hillary's campaign.
A liberal herself, Chozick said she alternated between feeling "blessed to be in this brilliant
man's presence – and total exhaustion from his self-absorption and driveling on."
She added that she believed Bill "rambled on because of some internal hole" he needed
to fill.
This has all undoubtedly caused an even further strain on the Clinton marriage, as Hillary
will likely always somewhat blame her husband for her loss to Trump.

As a society, if we're to have the best chance of protecting ourselves from the
impacts of flooding we need to understand which parts of Scotland are
most likely to be flooded. That's why SEPA has been working with
partner organisations to update the scientific analysis of where Scotland's
most likely to see flooding happen. We call these areas Potentially Vulnerable
Areas, and today we're releasing this analysis. We're releasing this
information for public comment - we're looking for all parts of the community
to comment on our analysis. So we've done the best science that's available, we
want to know from other scientists have we missed anything, and we want to tap
into local knowledge. We want to tap into the knowledge that members of the public
have - so that we can combine the best on-ground local knowledge with the
scientific analysis we've done to make sure we've got it right. Because getting
it right is really important. It underpins all sorts of decisions about
how we do our flood defence work and flood preparation work. So if you think
you can help us get it right please comment on our draft assessment. Comments are
open until 31 July, and if you'd like to comment you can go to

Mayor Bowser Holds Public Safety Media Availability, 4/30/18 - Duration: 12:36.
>> MAYOR: GOOD AFTERNOON, I'M MURIEL BOWSER, I'M THE MAYOR OF
WASHINGTON, D.C. WE ARE ON WAYNE PLACE IN WARD 8
IN WASHINGTON, D.C. TO PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON OUR
INVESTIGATION INTO HUMAN REMAINS LOCATED NEAR THE VICINITY OF
WHERE WE STAND. I'M JOINED BY THE POLICE OF
CHIEF, PETER NEWSHAM. THE DISTRICT'S CHIEF MEDICAL
EXAMINER, ROGER MITCHELL, THE DISTRICT'S DIRECTOR OF FORENSIC
SCIENCES, DR. JENIFER SMITH, THE DEPUTY MAYOR FOR PUBLIC SAFETY
KEVIN DONAHUE AND WE'RE ALSO JOINED BY THE COUNCILMEMBER FOR
THIS WARD. WE ARE HERE TO LET EVERYONE KNOW
THAT WE TAKE VERY SERIOUSLY THIS INVESTIGATION IN GETTING
INFORMATION OUT TO THIS COMMUNITY JUST AS SOON AS WE ARE
ABLE. I WANTED THE CHIEF TO BE ABLE TO
PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON THE POLICE INVESTIGATION AND DR.MITCHELL TO
PROVIDE AN UPDATE ON HIS OFFICE'S WORK ON IDENTIFYING THE
REMAINS HERE AND LETTING THE PUBLIC KNOW HOW WE CAN FIND OUT
WHAT HAPPENED TO THESE INDIVIDUALS.
CHIEF NEWSHAM? >> THANKS, MAYOR BOWSER, AND I
WANT TO START OFF BY SAYING I WISH WE HAD MORE INFORMATION
THAN WE DO ABOUT THIS CASE AT THIS POINT.
SO LAST WEDNESDAY, AROUND 3:30, A LITTLE PAST 3:30 IN THE
AFTERNOON OFFICERS WERE CALLED TO THE SCENE.
WE HAD SOME WORKERS AT THE PROPERTY WHO DISCOVERED BONES
THAT THEY BELIEVED TO BE HUMAN. THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF MEDICAL
EXAMINER WAS CALLED AND SUBSEQUENTLY ABLE TO DETERMINE
THAT THE BONES WERE HUMAN AND APPARENTLY FEMALE.
WE HAD CADAVER DOGS THAT WERE SO-CALLED TO THE SCENE.
WE ALSO DISCOVERED A SHALLOW GRAVE NOT TOO FAR FROM THIS
PROPERTY IN THAT SHALLOW GRAVES WERE THE SKELETAL REMAINS OF TWO
ADDITIONAL ADULT FEMALES, AND AT THIS POINT WE DON'T HAVE THEM
IDENTIFIED. THE IDENTIFICATION PROCESS WHICH
WILL BE A CULMINATION OF WORK FROM THE DEPARTMENT OF FORENSIC
SCIENCE, THE CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER'S OFFICE AND MY
HOMICIDE DETECTIVES WE WILL WORK TO TRY TO PIECE TOGETHER EXACTLY
WHO THESE FOLKS ARE. PART OF THAT WILL INCLUDE
SEARCHING THROUGH OUR MISSING PERSONS REPORTS TO SEE IF ANY OF
THE DECEASED IN THIS CASE ARE SOME OF OUR MISSING PERSONS THAT
HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY REPORTED. SO TO TALK ABOUT THE
ANTHROPOLOGY WORK AND THE FORENSIC WORK AND I'M GOING TO
ASK MITCHELL TO COME UP AND SAY A COUPLE OF WORDS.
>> THANK YOU, CHIEF NEWSHAM AND MAYOR.
WE HAVE AN IN-HOUSE FORENSIC ANTHROPOLOGIST THAT WORKS FOR
THE OFFICE OF THE CHIEF MEDICAL EXAMINER DR. LOVE.
WHAT WE HAVE DONE SO FAR IS AS OF TODAY WE ARE CLEANING AND
RECONSTRUCTING THE SKELETAL REMAINS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL.
THE SHALLOW GRAVE WE JUST SPOKE ABOUT, THOSE SKELETAL REMAINS
WERE COMMINGLED SO IT REQUIRED US TO MAKE SURE THAT WE SORTED
THOSE OUT COMPLETELY. OUR NEXT ORDER OF BUSINESS IS TO
PULL TOGETHER A BIO METRICAL PROFILE, THAT WOULD BE TRYING TO
IDENTIFY AGE, ANCESTRY AS WELL AS STATURE OF THESE SKELETAL
REMAINS. THERE ARE A SERIES OF
INFORMATION THAT GOES INTO THAT AND SO THAT'S WHAT WE WILL BE
DOING OVER THE NEXT SEVERAL WEEKS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION TO
LAW ENFORCEMENT AND OUR FORENSIC SCIENTISTS PARTNERS.
CAUSE AND MANNER OF DEATH IS STILL OUTSTANDING.
WE STILL ARE LOOKING FOR INJURY OR DISEASE ON THE SKELETAL
REMAINS TO BE ABLE TO ESTABLISH CAUSE AND MANNER OF DEATH.
I AM THE FORENSIC PATHOLOGIST ON THESE CASES.
WHENEVER THERE IS AN ANTHROPOLOGICAL CASE INVOLVED.
WE HAVE TIME IN ORDER TO GET THIS RIGHT SO I ASK THE PUBLIC
TO BEAR WITH US AS WE TRY TO IDENTIFY THESE WOMEN.
THANK YOU. >> MAYOR: QUESTIONS, CHIEF?
ANY QUESTIONS FOR THE CHIEF? OR THE DOCTOR?
>> MEDICAL EXAMINER, WHEN YOU SAY THE REMAINS OF THE TWO
FEMALES WERE COMMINGLED, WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY THAT?
>> THAT MEANS IT APPEARS AS THOUGH THERE WASN'T MUCH DIRT IN
BETWEEN THOSE TWO SKELETAL REMAINS AND SO SOME OF THE
SKELETON FELL AND WAS WITH THE OTHER SKELETON.
SO IT IS IMPORTANT FOR US TO MAKE SURE THAT WE HAVE EVERYONE
RESTRUCTURED PROPERLY. >> SO LIKE ONE ON TOP OF THE
OTHER? >> DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA HOW LONG
THOSE REMAINS WERE THERE? CAN YOU LOOK AT THEM AND SAY
THIS IS THE DEGREE OF DECOMPOSITION SO IT MUST HAVE
BEEN THIS AMOUNT OF TIME? >> IT REALLY BECOMES VERY
DIFFICULT WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY SKELETONIZED.
WE DON'T HAVE SOFT TISSUE PARTS TO BE ABLE TO SAY EXACTLY HOW
LONG. WE ARE LOOKING AT THE SCENE AS
WELL AS LOOKING AT THE INFORMATION THAT WE GATHERED
FROM THE SKELETAL REMAINS TO SEE HOW BEST WE CAN IDENTIFY TIME
FRAME SINCE DEATH BUT THAT'S GOING TO TAKE SOME TIME.
>> HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO THAT POINT?
>> MAYOR: I'LL GET TO YOU IN ONE SECOND.
>> HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET TO THAT POINT OF SKELETAL
DEGENERATION, DO WE HAVE A GAUGE ON THAT FROM LIVING HUMAN BEING
TO THAT POINT? >> YES, IT REALLY DEPENDS ON
WHAT SEASON OUTSIDE, WHAT SEASON OF THE YEAR.
AT THE VERY LEAST A YEAR, AND THEN ONCE YOU ARE BEYOND A YEAR
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO GAUGE. >> DOCTOR, CAN YOU TELL US IF
YOU HAVE BEEN ABLE TO RECOVER ANY USABLE DNA FROM ANY OF THE
REMAINS SO FAR, JUST WHETHER OR NOT THERE IS ACTUALLY IN GOOD
ENOUGH SHAPE THAT THERE IS DNA FOR YOU TO WORK WITH?
>> ABSOLUTELY. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT IF WE GET
TO A PLACE WHERE WE HAVE EITHER A FAMILY OR WE HAVE AN
INDIVIDUAL TO DO DNA COMPARISON I'M QUITE CERTAIN THAT WE HAVE
DNA THAT WE WOULD BE ABLE TO COMPARE WITH.
>> MAYOR: SIR? >> WAS THERE ANY ITEMS FOUND AT
ALL, CLOTHES, CELL PHONES, THINGS THAT YOU MIGHT FIND IN A
GRAVE OF ANY KIND? >> BECAUSE IT IS AN OPEN
INVESTIGATION WE'RE NOT GOING TO PROVIDE THAT LEGAL OF DETAIL
TODAY. BUT IF AND WHEN THAT BECOMES
AVAILABLE WE WILL SHARE THAT INFORMATION.
>> DID ANY OF THE REMAINS APPEAR TO HAVE ANY DAMAGE TO THEM, ANY
KIND OF TRAUMA AND HOW WERE YOU ABLE TO DETERMINE THAT THEY ARE
FEMALE REMAINS? >> SO THE FIRST QUESTION THAT
YOU ASKED BECAUSE IT IS AN OPEN INVESTIGATION WE'RE NOT GOING TO
SHARE ANY TRAUMA OR ANY INJURY OR DISEASE TO THE BONES.
AT THIS POINT. AS FAR AS FEMALE, THE FEMALE
PELVIS IS VERY DISTINCTIVE TO THE MALE PELVIS AND WE HAVE
PELVIS BONES FROM ALL THREE SKELETAL REMAINS.
>> ARE YOU CONFIDENT THAT -- [INAUDIBLE] I KNOW YOU GUYS WERE
SEARCHING AROUND MORE TODAY BUT ARE YOU SURE THAT AT THIS SITE
YOU FOUND EVERYTHING? >> WE'RE GOING TO STAY HERE FOR
AS LONG AS IT TAKES TO MAKE SURE WE DO A THOROUGH EXAMINATION OF
THE PROPERTY. IT IS CONCERNING TO FIND THREE
BODIES THAT ARE THIS CLOSE GEOGRAPHICALLY CLOSE TOGETHER.
>> CHIEF, ARE YOU CONSIDERING THESE ALL THREE CASES HOMICIDES
EVEN THOUGH THE MEDICAL EXAMINER SAYS --
>> IT IS AN UNDETERMINED DEATH INVESTIGATION AT THIS POINT BUT
OUR HOMICIDE DETECTIVES WILL NORMALLY TAKE A CASE LIKE THIS.
THE CIRCUMSTANCES CERTAINLY RISE TO THE LEVEL OF SUSPICIOUS SO
WE'RE GOING TO HAVE OUR HOMICIDE UNIT INVESTIGATING THIS CASE.
>> AND THERE IS A WEB-BASED PROGRAM CALLED NAMATH, ARE YOU
USING THAT? >> WE WILL USE ALL OF THE
INVESTIGATIVE TECHNIQUES WE HAVE AVAILABLE TO US.
I KNOW IT IS VERY DISCONCERTING TO THE COMMUNITY HERE TO HAVE
THESE REMAINS FOUND IN THEIR NEIGHBORHOOD AND WE WANT TO GET
TO THE ANSWERS AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN AND I KNOW THAT DR.MITCHELL
AND DR. SMITH WANT TO GET TO THE BOTTOM OF THIS JUST AS MUCH AS
ALL OF YOU DO SO WE'RE GOING TO DO EVERYTHING WE CAN TO GET THIS
DONE AS QUICKLY AS WE CAN. I THINK UNDERSTANDING THE
CIRCUMSTANCES THAT WE HAVE HERE WE HAVE VERY DATED SKELETAL
REMAINS. IT IS GOING TO TAKE A BIT OF
TIME BEFORE WE CAN GET -- FIGURE OUT EXACTLY WHO THESE REMAINS
BELONG TO. >> CHIEF, HAVE YOU RULED OUT THE
POSSIBILITY THAT THIS WAS CEMETERY OR GRAVEYARD AND THESE
REMAINS WERE SUPPOSED TO BE HERE AND MAYBE NOTHING NEFARIOUS
HAPPENED? >> IT IS SO EARLY IN THE
INVESTIGATION WE CAN'T RULE OUT ANYTHING SO WE ARE GOING TO HAVE
TO LOOK AT ALL POSSIBILITIES. >> YOU SAID THE BONES YOU COULD
TELL IT WAS A FEMALE. COULD YOU TELL IF IT WAS
ADOLESCENT OR TEENAGER OR OLDER VICTIM?
>> THAT'S THE WORK WE ARE DOING RIGHT NOW WHEN WE TALK ABOUT
GETTING THAT BIOMETRIC MEASURES THAT NEED TO BE TAKEN OF THE
BONES IN ORDER TO GIVE US AGE. WE'RE DEFINITELY NOT DEALING
WITH INFANTS. SO WE KNOW THAT.
SO THAT'S IMPORTANT. SO THAT IS WHERE WE ARE GOING
NOW. WE HAVE TO DO ADDITIONAL
MEASUREMENTS AND ANALYSIS TO GIVE US AN AGE RANGE THAT WE CAN
RELY ON. >> MAYOR: EXCUSE ME, MARK, ONE
MORE. >> QUESTION FOR THE CHIEF.
WAS THERE ANYTHING THAT LED INVESTIGATORS TO THE SECOND
DISCOVERY OR WAS THAT FROM A RANDOM SWEEP?
>> WE HAD CADAVER DOGS HERE FROM THE D.C. FAIR AND EMS AND THE
FAIRFAX COUNTY POLICE DEPARTMENT AND THE DOGS ALERTED IN THAT
AREA. >> CHIEF, COULD YOU TELL US
ABOUT THE HISTORY OF THIS BUILDING AND PERHAPS A LARGE
NUMBER OF PAST TENANTS? WITH LARGE NUMBERS OF PEOPLE IT
IS LIKELY YOUR DETECTIVES WILL HAVE TO GO THROUGH JUST TO
ESTABLISH RESIDENCY, MAYBE I'M MISCHARACTERIZING THAT.
HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE ALL OF THAT?
>> ABSOLUTELY THAT'S ONE OF THE THINGS WE GOING TO HAVE TO DO
IDENTIFY AND TO THE EXTENT THAT PEOPLE WILL COOPERATE WE WILL
CERTAINLY APPRECIATE IT AND I THINK FOLKS WILL BECAUSE THEY
UNDERSTAND THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS SO FOLKS ARE OUT THERE
LISTENING AND THEY HAVE LIVED IN THIS BUILDING IF THEY COME
FORWARD IT IS GOING TO MAKE OUR WORK A LOT EASIER SO WE WOULD
APPRECIATE THAT BUT CERTAINLY WE'RE GOING TO GO THROUGH ALL OF
THE TENANT RECORDS AND SEE WHO LIVED IN THE BUILDING AND SEE
WHO CURRENTLY LIVES IN THE BUILDING.
PEOPLE WHO FREQUENTLY VISITED THE BUILDING EVEN DELIVERIES TO
THE BUILDING. EVERY POSSIBILITY WE WILL HAVE
TO LOOK AT. >> I NOTICE IT WAS BUILT IN
1948. THAT'S A LOT OF PEOPLE.
>> IT COULD VERY WELL BE. AND THEN, YOU KNOW, ONCE WE GET
THE REMAINS IDENTIFIED IT MAY LEAD US IN A COMPLETELY
DIFFERENT DIRECTION SO WE ARE REALLY ALL WE ARE DOING RIGHT
NOW IS SPECULATING. >> QUESTION FOR DR.MITCHELL.
YOU SAID IT IS DIFFICULT TO ASCERTAIN HOW LONG THE REMAINS
HAVE BEEN THERE BUT DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHETHER THERE IS A
DIFFERENCE IN TIME OF THE REMAINS?
DO THEY BELIEVE TO BE ROUGHLY IN THE SAME SHAPE IN TERMS OF THE
AGE THEY HAVE BEEN LYING THERE IS THIS
>> THEY DO SEEM TO BE ABOUT THE SAME SHAPE.
THE BONES LOOK -- SKELETAL REMAINS LOOK LIKE THEY ARE IN
THE SAME SHAPE AS THE ONES FOUND IN THE TWO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS,
YES. >> MAYOR: I WANT TO THANK YOU
FOR THAT UPDATE AND AS I MENTIONED EARLIER WE CERTAINLY
SHARE THE DEVASTATION THIS COMMUNITY MUST FEEL ESPECIALLY
NOT HAVING THESE WOMEN IDENTIFIED AND WE'RE GOING TO
WORK VERY HARD TO FIND OUT WHO THEY ARE AND WHY THEY WERE FOUND
IN THIS CIRCUMSTANCE. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.
>> OFF TOPIC FOR THE CHIEF? CHIEF, COULD YOU COMMENT ON THE
5D OFFICER WHO WAS ARRESTED IN PRINCE GEORGE'S COUNTY?
>> WE HAD A POLICE OFFICER THAT WAS ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH A
SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THE COUNTY EARLY THIS MORNING.
>> CAN YOU TELL US HIS STATUS, HOW LONG HE HAS BEEN ON THE
DEPARTMENT AND YOUR GENERAL THOUGHTS?
>> HE CAME ON THE DEPARTMENT IN 2016, I BELIEVE, IF MY MEMORY
SERVES ME CORRECTLY. AND HE WILL IMMEDIATELY BE
PLACED ON NONCONTACT STATUS. >> YOUR THOUGHTS ON IT, DO YOU
WANT TO WEIGH IN PERSONALLY? >> WHENEVER YOU HEAR SOMETHING
LIKE THIS INVOLVING ONE OF OUR OFFICERS IT IS VERY DISTURBING,
YOU KNOW, AND YOU DON'T WANT TO HEAR ABOUT STUFF LIKE THAT
INVOLVING OUR POLICE OFFICERS SO WE'RE GOING TO LET THE CRIMINAL
JUSTICE SYSTEM PLAY OUT AND WE WILL DO WHATEVER WE NEED TO DO
INTERNALLY AS FAR AS OUR INVESTIGATION.
>> THANKS, CHIEF. >> THANK YOU.
>> MAYOR: THANK YOU.

Public Affairs: Online Master's Degree - Duration: 2:27.
I think there's a fear and maybe a misconception that an online program
leaves students very isolated and I can tell you that
that's not case in our program at all.
The Masters of Public Affairs program is a program that
focuses on public affairs and public administration.
Our online program is part of our mid-career program, so this is a program designed for individuals with three to
five years of work experience. Students come to this program from a variety of backgrounds.
Currently, I am a middle school choral director for Columbia Public Schools.
I am a police officer for the University of Missouri.
I have been in the nonprofit world for about the past eight years.
Students might choose to focus on public management
in seeking jobs in the public sector, local government and state government.
It was an opportunity for me to step outside of the music education world,
and to step into a world of public policy and understand how music education is legislated,
how education is legislated, and how communities are formed.
We also have students in law enforcement and the military and other diverse backgrounds.
As a young officer, we just kind of think about going out in society and helping with problems
but we don't really think about how that works in the political realm. The program has really helped me to understand
kind of where I fit in, in the bigger picture.
With our faculty teaching our courses, we have a combination of traditional professors within the
Truman School of Public Affairs as well as practitioners in the field.
So particularly with working individuals, we think it's very important for students to get that hands-on
understanding of what's currently happening in the field as well as a more traditional academic point of view.
They really understand that we've spent many years in different fields and we have different backgrounds
so a lot of the assignments that we're given are encouraged to share our experiences
and to kind of build on each other's skill sets a little bit.
Students can apply the skills learned within this program in such a broad array of careers and settings
that it really does provide them a great background.
As I was reading through it, as we were talking about it, it applied to a situation that I was dealing with.
I feel one hundred percent prepared for the world of public affairs right now.
