North Korea has been relatively quiet over the last couple months.
They hadn't tested a missile since September.
But on Wednesday morning, they test fired a ballistic missile that they claim is a new
type that can strike anywhere on the US mainland.
Its called a Hwasong-15, a more advanced version of the intercontinental ballistic missile
that it launched back in july.
The missile was reported to have flown for 50 minutes at a high trajectory.
It reached 2796 miles, or 4500 kilometers above the earth, which if you didn't know
is 10 times higher than the interneational space station.
It came down and 621 miles from the launch site, off the west coast of japan.
The US defence secretary, james mattis, said that this missile went higher than any previous
shot they've taken.
According to north Korean propaganda, This missile has the capability of carrying a super
large heavy warhead.
While North Korea announced this on the state news, it simultaneously declared itself a
complete nuclear state.
Kim jong un oversaw the missile test, which launched in Pyongsong.
At this time, it hasn't been completely proven that they can add a miniature nuclear
warhead with a long range missile.
Yes, the missile could have the capability to hit the mainland on its own, but if you
add a nuclear warhead to that missile, its going to make it heavier, which will change
the trajectory.
This was north korea's 20th missile test of the year.
All of these tests are prohibited under UN sanctions placed on north korea.
South korea, in response, tested its own missile.
South Koreas president, Moon Jae in said that he is worried that the US could launch a pre
emptive strike on north korea, which could escalate into a full-fledged war.
Japans Prime Minister Shinzo abe also called the missile launch, intolerable, and called
for an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council.
The US secretary of state said that the US is still committed to finding a peaceful path.
President trump was quoted saying 'we will take care of it, it is a situation that we
will handle.
That is all for now, and thanks for watching IO.

FTA State Safety Oversight Program for Rail Transit - Duration: 2:26.
Safety is the number-one priority for the Department of Transportation and
also for the Federal Transit Administration. People count on us to
make sure that when they get on a train or or metro that they're safe.
We have a chance each year to get together the State Safety Oversight
agencies and the rail transit agencies in their jurisdictions so that we can
talk about program oversight, safety oversight, and the challenges that the
industry is facing.
We've done dozens of workshops we have reached out to the community and we
hold regular monthly, quarterly, weekly and sometimes everyday meetings with our
stakeholders to help them answer the questions and the challenges that they
have.
You have to do it together and just do the work, you have to just do the work.
That's all there is to it, because at the end of the day your state is responsible
for it not not the FTA and ultimately it could save lives so it's worth it.
It's important that we all you know are able to stand up a safety organization before
the deadline of April 15 2019 and we at FTA are committed to making sure everyone
gets there.
