When I Hit You | 2018 Women's Prize Review - Duration: 9:27.
Hello, Bookworms, I'm Hannah and today's video is another review of Women's Prize
longlist nominee.
Before I talk about the book, there are two things I want to address.
First, I need to correct an error in my review of The Mermaid & Mrs. Hancock by Imogen Hermes Gowar.
I wrongly state in that video that Angelica was married to a wealthy Duke.
She was his mistress, not his wife.
And, two, I want to say, "Thank you," to everyone who commented on my Women's
Prize Longlist Reaction video with candid thoughts on Red Clocks by Leni Zumas.
I may still read that book at some point to sate my own curiosity but, when that day comes,
consider me forewarned.
About the book I'm reviewing today: It doesn't really follow a traditional plot, so it would
be difficult for me to drop spoilers, but I'll be careful to review this book in a
way that leaves much for you to explore and discover for yourself.
Today I'm reviewing When I Hit You by Meena Kandasamy.
This was a buddy-read with Jennifer at Insert Literary Pun Here.
Jennifer's channel is an abundance of thoughtful, eloquent reviews of literary fiction and classics.
Jennifer and I have notoriously opposing views on books, particularly Women's Prize longlist
book, so we thought it would be fun to read one together and see if our opinions of the
book aligned or clashed.
I think this book is fantastic.
If you want to know what Jennifer thought, I'll drop a link in the description box to her video review.
When I Hit You follows the first-person perspective of an unnamed narrator, a young woman who
marries a handsome university professor.
She soon learns that the charismatic, respected man he is in public differs significantly
from the man he is behind closed doors.
Her vision of a loving marriage is shattered by his abusive, controlling behavior.
Clearly this is a book that tackles a difficult subject, and I know a lot of you are hesitant
to pick up a book that centers on physical abuse and rape, but I think you'll be surprised
by this book – as I was – if you'll just give it a chance.
Meena's voice is totally unexpected.
She found a way to make a difficult subject approachable, and – I don't mean to be
indelicate when I say this – she found a way to make it enjoyable.
Her voice is dripping with mock humor.
It's unflinching and honest yet lighthearted and amusing.
In the opening pages, the narrator refers to her experience as her
"misadventures in marriage."
It's one of the first instances where we see that she frames her experience with sarcasm,
a brilliant move on Meena's part since people often lean on humor to soften their uncomfortable realities.
Which leads me to talk about the psychology of this book, because coping mechanisms play
a huge role in how this narrator conveys her story.
She introduces events as though she were directing a film, and she admits that this form of detachment
allows her to confront her life.
Of the three-room house she shares with her husband, she says: "It makes a perfect film
set.
And in some ways, that is how I think of it: it is easier to imagine this life in which
I'm trapped as a film; it is easier when I imagine myself as a character.
It makes everything around me appear less frightening; my experiences at a remove.
Less painful, less permanent.
Here, long before I ever faced a camera, I became an actress."
She often introduces events as though she were the self-anointed director moving
the camera through a scene.
This is a clever metaphor for that dissociative phenomena some people experience during moments
of great trauma where they feel as if they're hovering above their own body.
The narrator describes a scene unfolding with thunder rolling in the distance to accentuate
marital tension and electricity playing truant to bathe the bickering couple in darkness.
She makes it sound creative and fun, but beneath the surface she's alluding a sense of detachment
that indicates severe trauma.
This detachment from reality is a survival mechanism.
It's her way of coping with a life-threatening situation.
She admits: "The longer I stretch the act of the happily married couple, the
more I dodge his anger.
It's not a test of talent alone.
My life depends on it."
I latched on to this method of conveying the story through the eyes of a film director,
because I found it so compelling but, to my dismay, that viewpoint wanes as the book progresses.
By chapter three, it becomes evident that this book has an unorthodox, fractured structure.
It doesn't really read like a carefully plotted novel, or a short story collection, or articles
or essays.
I was initially frustrated by this but, somewhere along the way, it finally occurred
to me that When I Hit You reads like someone's diary.
Each chapter has a focus, but the narrator's thoughts on that topic may shift with each
new page, or each new paragraph. And this made sense to me.
In the same way that we sit down to write in our journal and one day reminisce about
an old love and the next day share an exciting triumph, in the same way that we begin writing
about one thing and then our meandering thoughts take us down a rabbit hole of tangential memories,
this book delivers its story and its messages through brief, inconsistent interludes.
This wasn't what I wanted from my reading when I was making my way through this book,
but I don't fault Meena for that.
I appreciate what she accomplishes by choosing to structure her book this way.
These passages that read like stolen moments, shared secrets, and hushed confessions quietly
draw you in.
There's an intimacy achieved through this style of writing that makes this story, this subject,
and this poignant issue personal to the reader.
I think this works well with a nameless protagonist, too, because people don't name
themselves in their diary.
I would never write in my journal, "I, Hannah Greendale, fair-skinned and blue-eyed, went to the store yesterday."
When we write in a diary or journal, we relate events to ourselves.
And, much like this unnamed narrator, sometimes we do it cryptically just in case – stars
forbid – someone else were to read our private thoughts.
By adopting this structure, Meena allows us to see into someone's private life, and
by keeping the narrator nameless, she lets us slip in and out of her shoes.
Speaking of stepping into another person's shoes, Meena drew from her own experience
as an abused wife to craft this book, and I found myself wondering, while reading, why
she elected to write fiction rather than a memoir.
By the end of the book, that question is addressed in two places.
I'll let you discover for yourself the reasons given, but I will share with you the realization
I came to by the time I finished reading.
This would not have been as powerful as a memoir.
Instead of making this about her, Meena enlarges the picture to include every woman.
This isn't Meena's story, and it isn't the unnamed narrator's story.
It's every battered and abused woman's story, every sexually assaulted woman's
story, every misunderstood or neglected daughter's story, every scared mother or mother-to-be's
story, and every woman who's had the courage to speak up for the #MeToo movement's story.
The point of this book is that unexpectedly finding oneself in an abusive relationship
can happen to anyone.
And the goal of this book is to show how it happens, how an intelligent, capable, college educated,
woman can find herself reduced to a crumbling, brittle shell of a person after just a few months of having
been robbed of her autonomy, her voice, and her body.
We see the quiet acts of rebellion that sustain her, how familial and societal pressures further
prohibit her from breaking free, and it's made clear that standing up for herself and
leaving aren't necessarily the most viable solution to her problems, because that route could be the death
of her.
This book is a reminder to be compassionate and helpful rather than snide and judgmental.
And it's a feminist cautionary tale about allowing our identity to be defined by the
men (or women) we date.
When we sacrifice too much of ourselves for the people we love, we risk our identity falling
to pieces when that relationship fails.
I think a lot of us have been guilty of doing that – I certainly have.
But the point is, those pieces can be reassembled.
We can learn from our mistakes and be stronger moving forward.
When I Hit You is a collection of private entries that portray a woman corroding.
Ultimately, it's an elegy.
To read this book is to witness a woman's metaphorical death.
The question is, will this unnamed narrator succumb to darkness or will she be reborn?
You need to discover the answer to that question yourself when you read this book.
At the back of the book is an article written by Deepa D. that was published in The Wire.
The article provides a list of people you should give this book to.
But I can simplify that list: This book is for everyone.
Everyone would benefit from reading this book.
At this point I've read half of the books longlisted for this year's prize.
When I Hit You is not my personal favorite, but I will be
shocked if it does not win this year's prize.
If you have any reservations about reading this book, leave a comment and I'll see
if I can assuage your concerns.
If rape is a trigger for you, skip Chapter 10.
If I can answer any questions that will convince or allow you to read this book, please leave a comment.
Or, if it would be more comfortable for you, you can private message me on Goodreads.
If you've already read When I Hit You, tell me your thoughts and reactions in the comments.
I'll see you soon for next video which will be another review of a Women's Prize longlist nominee.
Thanks, everybody!

[Book Review] Stay Hungry by Sebastian Maniscalco - One of The Top 10 Highest Paid Comedians - Duration: 3:54.
- Sebastian Maniscalco was one of the
highest paid comedians in the last year.
Which, to me, was surprising
because I'd never heard of him before.
But, according to Forbes, he was ranked number 10
highest earning comedians pulling in $15 million dollars,
which makes him worth studying.
Anyone who can make that type of money is worth studying.
So, I checked out his book, Stay Hungry,
and here are my main takeaways.
Number one is, everything is sales.
Sebastian started out as a touring comedian.
He was an opener for Andrew Dice Clay
during his first comeback in the early 2000's.
And one of the things he learned along the way is
all comedians get booked, because they sell tickets.
If you end up in a venue somewhere,
it's because the owner of that venue thinks that you're
going to make people buy drinks
and you're gonna fill out the spot.
That's the only reason you're there.
How good you are at comedy or how well you can
entertain the crowd has very little to do with
the booking itself or the growth as a standup comedian.
Sebastian says it best.
And he's frustrated about this in the book,
but I've seen the same thing in LA.
I've been doing a little bit of standup comedy.
I've done about 83 mics now.
And I just got two gigs in a row.
One was me going to the show, paying for a ticket,
buying drinks, I only drink water,
but I bought a couple bottles of water
and talking to 'em after the show.
Helping him move chairs and all that stuff.
And I ended up with a booking for later in the month.
The other booking came from an open mic that I go to
pretty regularly and this guy was way more straight forward.
He was like, "if I put you on this show,
"will you bring people?"
And the night of the show, I did bring people.
And I was one of the few comedians to do it.
And because of that, I've gotten more opportunities.
So, this is something directly
translated from Sebastian's advice.
It counts in all business arenas.
When you're doing anything, you can choose to either see it
as, oh I got a gig, this is great for me.
I can't wait to put on an amazing show.
Or you could see it as,
oh, the organizer booked me for a gig.
What can I do to make their life as easy as possible
so I can get more gigs in the future?
Same mindset for freelance, same mindset as an agency owner.
Deliver as much value as possible
to the person that's paying you to be there.
My second take away from this book
is selling a TV show isn't the end of it.
In the book, Sebastian talks about
how he sold a pilot to NBC.
A pilot is that first episode of a TV show that networks
usually pay for to see if they will
pick it up for a full season.
And he got the producer from My Name is Earl attached,
Greg Garcia, and he even had Tony Danza,
who's famous for the show, Taxi and Who's the Boss.
However, that wasn't enough.
The show didn't get picked up after the first episode
and there's no where online that
you can see this pilot that he made.
And I just thought that was interesting,
running a production company that, even if you get the ball
as close to the goal as you possibly can,
that still isn't the end.
You have to still keep hustling
and getting from pilot to series,
especially on these major networks, is extremely hard.
And the final takeaway was,
you will beat your friends if you don't quit.
Sebastian talks about how he was working with these other
actors early on in his career and then, and here's a quote.
This is after some actor where he was the supporting role
in a show and this actor was the lead.
Ended up working at Eataly which is
an Italian grocery store in New York.
And sometimes that's all it takes.
Sometimes all you need for success is patience.
Waiting out everyone else until they quit.
Check out Stay Hungry.

Wealth Enhancers Review | Missy Machin Wealth Enhancers Testimonial - Duration: 1:34.
Hi I'm Missy, I'm a buyer for Kmart.
I was pretty terrible with money!
Really bad.
Terrible at saving money, really good at spending money.
It's Kmart!
Oh yep Kmart!
So I came across Wealth Enhancers on Google and it was kind of tailored towards Millennials
which kind of attracted me quite a lot.
I just booked in for the hour consultation and it just fit really perfectly with what
I wanted.
I think for the first two years I found it really hard and I think it's only been just
now that I kind of look back on everything that I've achieved and it feels really good.
It was just kind of very small beginnings and I'm definitely well on the way to setting
the goals I set four years ago and you know hopefully retiring at fifty because who doesn't
want to do that!
I know it's really volatile in the stock markets at the moment but I'm talking about things
for the next 20 years.
My goals are when I'm 50 and when I'm retired: Am I gonna have financial security?
I want to buy a house in the next couple of years, all of those are very
long-term goals.
My friends are probably sick of me talking about it to be honest because I'm constantly
trying to get them all to join up because it has been my saviour over the last two years.
I definitely wouldn't have the security I have, I wouldn't have the savings I have,
I wouldn't have had the money to go on the holidays that I had, all of that wouldn't
have been possible without using this service and so yeah I was
I've would and have recommended it to everybody I know I think.

Panera Bread Colombia Coffee Review - Duration: 4:09.
- Hey, welcome to Coffee Coffee Coffee.
Your place for average Joe coffee reviews.
Today's coffee says it ha a wine-like finish.
I don't feel drunk.
- So, today we are reviewing Panera Bread's Columbia
expertly roasted ground coffee.
- Ah, experts.
That's what we've been looking for.
- Right.
So it's 100% arabica coffee.
It says Columbia which makes me assume
that it is all from Columbia.
It doesn't really necessarily say that it is but it does say
that it's supposed to be floral, nutty, balanced,
and have a wine-like finish.
- Yeah.
- Which we don't really understand.
- Right.
- I mean...
- It doesn't taste like any wine that I've ever had.
- No.
- And some wine is really hard to drink
and some wine is really smooth.
- Right.
- One question I do have is that it says expertly roasted.
If it doesn't say expertly roasted on the other Panera bags
what does that say about the roasters
who are doing the other coffee?
- Right.
- Like, eh, you guys aren't experts.
The Columbia guys are experts.
You're just novices.
(laughing)
But we let you roast coffee.
- Right.
So, one thing it did say on the bag is that Panera
works with the farmers for sustainable methods
of farming and everything.
It doesn't have any certifications
but nice to know that they care about that.
- And say it on their bag.
- Right.
- We could ask the farmers but they don't identify
where the farmers are specifically.
- Right.
So...
The actual coffee, what do you think?
- I think it's easy to drink.
- It is, I would agree with that.
Very easy to drink.
- There's no like,
I don't want to drink that flavors or anything like that.
But it's not real potent.
- Right, it's kind of weak.
I wouldn't say weak
but just kind of like because it's balanced.
I think maybe that's the thing.
There's no one flavor that's coming through
so it's got a little nuttiness.
- Right, I think a little bit.
- But, yet I want more.
- Mm hmn.
Talk to your experts.
- Yeah, I like it strong.
- Tell them to roast it a little stronger.
It is a medium roast but that doesn't mean
it shouldn't have...
- Something that grabs you.
But I think it's probably a crowd pleaser.
It's not one that people go, oh, I hate this.
I think most people would like, huh, yeah, it's pretty good.
- Yeah, and some people if you just show them the bag
they'll be like, ooh, I love Panera.
Even if they have no idea what the coffee's like.
Those are called fan boys or fan girls.
(laughing)
Panera fan, I don't know if there are any Panera fan,
well, I'm sure there are.
- I don't know.
I think there are some people that really love Panera.
I've never eaten--
- I've really gotta get a bland sandwich.
(laughing)
I don't know.
- Have you ever tried their sandwiches?
- At meetings.
- Oh okay, well that's different.
- Then I was just happy to be eating.
- I've never tried one so.
- But so we bought our coffee at Publix
and it was on sale for 6.99.
I think the original price was $9.
It's a lot more expensive on Amazon so don't get it there.
Even though we have a link.
- We will put a link in the description.
- If you actually have to have it.
Actulutely.
I think I tried to say actually and absolutely
in the same word.
But if you actulutely have to have it
then you can get it on Amazon.
- Maybe this does have wine in it.
(laughing)
- Yeah.
Anyway, I think we'd give it a three
out of five donut rating.
- Yeah, I mean, the price is like ooh but I think three
because it's pretty easy to drink.
Overall, it's not offensive at all.
- All right, well, you all out there watching.
If you've had some Panera coffee before,
this roast or another one,
let us know about it in the comments below
and if we haven't reviewed it yet,
we'll try to find it and give a review out there sometime.
- Yes indeed.
- Well, until next time.
- Keep grinding.
- [Man] Hey, thanks for watching our reviews.

[CC] Pirates, Flying, Fairies, 1911 | "Peter Pan" by J.M. Barrie Book Review - Duration: 7:04.
I read a classic. I've not read a classic since it's been part of required
reading like 10 years ago when I was in high school. Reading a classic was a really big deal.
I decided I was gonna start with Peter Pan because I
love all of the movie adaptations but I'd never read the book. I was very
surprised by this book. Not only is the writing very accessible for a classic
there's only a few sentence where you kind of mull over and you're like I
don't really know what you're saying here, but for the most part you
understand it. It's not like you're reading dense poetry that only makes
sense to the poet. It actually reads like a book that just happened to be written
and published in 1911. So if you want to read something more than a hundred years old
that you'll actually understand, then Peter Pan is a really good one to start
with. This is not a children's story. I know that everyone says it's a
children's story, but it is not. As far as it goes with age grouping I would put
this in middle grades because the characters do seem to be around ten
years old. Wendy is probably a little bit older.
Some people suspect that she is 13 or 14 but it's never actually said which is
why I'm just gonna clump it into middle grades so that makes the most
sense to me. However, there's a lot of violence in
here. There's also adult content but that is masked in the writing style.
For instance, one of the characters doesn't want to take his medicine and the sister
says well daddy has no problem taking his medicine, right Daddy? Can you take
your medicine and he'll take his medicine? and her dad doesn't want to
take his medicine and she goes haha I'll go get your medicine.
So she goes and she picks like a glass of whiskey and she fills it up because that's
how he takes his medicine. It's a really big portion, and it was so funny and so
innocent. Also the parts that take place in the real world are very magical
realism-ish. The characters have heard of Peter Pan before even though they
haven't really seen him. Also there's a part where the mom is
described as sitting by the edge of her kids' beds and sorting through their
memories and taking away the bad ones so that they can have good dreams. It was
adorable. The dog Nana is their nurse and she watches after them and she'll know
if one of them is sick or if they're in danger and she'll help them out. Then they get stolen
away by Peter Pan and it's a tragedy for the people that are left behind, but the
kids are having the time of their life living in Neverland which is not
actually called Neverland it's the Neverland.
Also Hook is not a white guy. He's a black guy, and I was like I never knew
that because in every annotation I've ever seen Hook is this white guy with his
curly black hair but not in the book. The one criticism that I will say is that he
does make certain comments where he uses the term black but it's not like just a
description it's like he has to point out that certain characters are black
and then there's also parts where he's referring to the Native Americans of
this land which of course they wouldn't be called Native Americans there so I'm
just gonna call them natives. He calls them Redskins which can be seen as a
derogatory term that was definitely used around the time that the author was
around and then also does refer to their ways as savagery. However, there are
distinct passages throughout the book where he is
praising these individuals who are the minorities. So he talks about the
cleverness of Captain Hook and also how how the natives think and go about
battle and the way that they strategize. So he gives them praise even though he
uses these terms that aren't necessarily all that favourable, but for him that
could actually have been something where just acknowledging it and writing
characters and making it an inclusive book where these characters aren't
necessarily degraded was really progressive for his time. At the same
time, I don't really know how I feel about that aspect, but I will say that
this book is definitely feminist. I know some of you are thinking well
Wendy is like their mom and she's doing all these house chores how is this
feminist--because it is so empowering to women. He talks about how smart women are
and how we're not going to be deceived by certain things. He does kind of talk
down about guys and how they're a bit foolish, especially boys, but girls he
just praises girls again and again and again and it just
gives them so much worth and I really enjoyed getting to read that in a book
especially one that was set during this time. Someone could be a feminist and still
enjoy doing things like sewing a button on clothing.
Wendy also makes the decision that she doesn't really want to live in Neverland
forever, so that's something where she's taking
control of her own life and not letting other people decide what she wants for
her. I really enjoy that. This is a bittersweet story. This is a fun story. It
has adventure. It's definitely like a childhood classic. It's something that I
would want to read in the future to my children. There's gory violence. There is
murder in here, but I don't really care. I just think it's so much fun.
There's pirates so there's going to be that. As far as language goes there's
only one word that I remember being used and that was the A-word and it's always
by Tinker Bell. Tinker Bell has like two lines in this story and one of the lines
is always the same and she uses it repetitively and then the other one is
just a slightly different variation of that line and that's what all of her
stuff is, but she still has character even though she
doesn't speak very often. If you like the Peter Pan adaptations that are movies, I
do think that you'll like this. It's only 207 pages in this pretty little little
Edition so go read it especially if you have a read-a-thon. I flew through it; it
was so addictive. Highly recommend you go check it out. Thanks
for watching. I'll see you in the next one! :)

Fortnite - Neet Review - Duration: 2:29.
So you just finished watching Sword Art Online Alternative "Gun Gale Online"
And I know whatcha thinkin.
You know what this video game reminds me of something.
Like one of them battle royale games.
You know the popular animes that all the streamers play.
I think they call it Fortnitty.
That's the anime that's going to get me the views right.
Like that one ninja who got the number 2 Mexican rapper Drake to play with him.
Actually let's just stop right here.
I'm sick of this charade.
I
Don't
Like
Anime reviews anymore :(
Everybody is freakin playing Fortnite
Alright!
This is how you get famous.
Look at all these people.
Millions of views.
It's so easy anyone can do it.
In fact.
Let's start playing Fortnite right now.
Hey guys.
I'm playing Fortnite.
But there is a catch.
Every time I get a kill.
My underage sister is going to have to strip.
So you better stick around the entire game because I'm a camping pussy.
[This is a live reaction]
[Did I forget to mention that this is live]
[Look at me I'm interacting with the chat as I speak aren't I a good streamer]
[Play of the game right there]
[Oh by the way this is live in case you didn't know]
Hey would you look at that I got a kill.
Alright babe you better start stripping.
Oh whoops!
I can't show my sisters boobies because she's underage.
And guess what.
You're going to jail for Cheese Pizza you f***ing pedophile.
But she's a drawing.
That don't matter!
Tell that to America-chan.
You see this Act!
That means everything fictional is illegal.
You know all those anime girls you like.
That's contraband.
Crunchyroll is a corrupt Italian business that streams underage naughty vids.
You know that game Fortnite.
She's still a teen!
You disgusting.
Worthless.
Child molesting piece of filth.
You're not even human.
I bet you were neutered by your foster parents.
Because your real mom couldn't find an abortion clinic.
So she left you to rot inside a dumpster.
While your Dad went back to take a conga line of 50 dicks at Prom night on her behalf.
I hope you call
1-800-273-8255
So that every time I pay my taxes.
I can continue to fund the government.
so they can personally tell you.
TO GO KILL YOURSELF.
[pls don't kill yourself it's bad for you]
And finally.
You know this video your watching.
Guess what.
I'm from the future.
Therefore I haven't even been born yet.
I'm still in my Daddy's genetics.
That makes you a f***ing Genesis.
Oh by the way this anime is okay.
But f*** anyone that ever played Oddjob.
I know who you are you f***ing piece of s*** loli!

Samsung Galaxy S9+ | Unboxing & Review - Duration: 6:53.
Hello and welcome to this
Samsung Galaxy S9+ unboxing review.
The box contents are typical for Sammy flagships:
AKG earphones, USB to Type-C adapter,
Micro USB to Type-C adapter,
USB-C cable, Fast Charging power brick,
and some spare earplugs.
I got the all black, or as Flossy Carter calls it
the Wesley Snipes edition
and, just like the predecessors, it looks gorgeous.
S9+ is a 6.2 inch device
with a beautiful 4K Super Amoled screen.
It has the latest Exynos 9 chipset,
6GB of RAM and it supports microSD up to 400GB's
Two 12MP cameras on the back,
8MP front cam, it has the stereo speaker setup,
3500mAh battery, and it comes with the Android 8.0 Oreo.
Let's not forget the fast charging,
and the fast wireless charging,
and of course the IP68 rating,
so it won't be a problem using the s9+plus around water.
Galaxy S9+ features the last years design
with the big, gorgeous, bezel less screen on the front,
but with two cameras on the back,
and with a different fingerprint scanner location.
Although, the button arrangement is the same as before,
the actual metal frame is now matte
not shiny as on the S8 plus,
but it still has the shiny glass back that attracts fingerprints.
And talking about the fingerprints,
Samsung listened to the users,
and corrected the awful position of the scanner.
Now it's where it should be,
just like the headphone jack.
Overall, they've improved the design,
but it's not without its flaws.
This is a tall phone,
and if you don't have big hands,
when you hold the phone in a way
that you can reach the fingerprint scanner,
you will struggle to reach the power button.
You'll keep pressing the infamous Bixby button by accident!!
The button is just too high!
Huawei did a much better job with the Mate 10 Pro.
Everything is easily accessible,
for lefties or for the right-handed people.
But if you struggle with the otherwise fast and reliable scanner,
you can always use other security features,
like the IRIS scanner and the face unlock.
They are still not ideal,
and fail to unlock the phone from time to time,
but you can combine all the methods.
You can have the fingerprint scanner,
the IRIS scanner or the face unlic
activated at the same time,
so if one fails, you can have an alternative.
Let us mention again this gorgeous AMOLED screen.
Samsung makes the best screens in the market.
Only iPhone X screen can come near to this,
and it's also made by Samsung…
And for the sound:
the bottom speaker and the top earpiece
work together to create a fuller and louder sound.
In my opinion this sound quality,
and the screen quality are one great package
for the immersive media and gaming experience.
'sound from the phone]
The apps edge is still there but to be honest,
I don't see myself using it that often.
On the other hand.
this screen capture feature
that was ported from the Note 8
is something that I use a lot.
You can make Gifs from a youtube video, for example,
and share them with your friends.
And the ultimate question is:
Did Samsung reimagined the camera on the s9 plus?
Well,
they did a revamp of the interface, which is now more intuitive.
And They've added the AR Emoji feature,
which can be a lot fun, but also creepy.
I prefer the wide selfie feature which is great for group shots.
And what about that dual aperture functionality?
Well, it's a step in the right direction,
but doesn't make that much of a difference
in terms of producing better low light photos.
The zoom function for example
is something i appreciate more.
All in all, main cameras are solid,
pretty good. actually
Especially for scenery, nature and close-ups.
For portraits the main camera is very good,
but not always consistent.
Sometimes the photos are sharp with great dynamic range,
and sometimes they're soft and overexposed.
For the selfie portrait,
even though it's brighter in this case,
it's soft and lacks details,
also the subject separation and the background blur
is miles away from the Pixel 2.
At the end you can see the super slow-mo video,
recorded at 960 fps!!!
It's fun but it needs improvements!!!
See you in the next one, thanks for watching!!!

Client review and feedback with Frame.io and Wipster - Duration: 13:57.
Hi, everyone. This is Paul Schmutzler. I'm here today to tell you all about
something that has made my life a whole lot easier. And that is having an
efficient way to share a video project with a client that allows them to
comment and approve the video without having to upload and download files
repeatedly through a service like Dropbox or Google Drive or a private FTP
even. There's two services that are available right now that I'm going to
introduce to you today. One is called Frame.io, and the other one is called
Wipster. Frame is a New York city-based company, and they just recently won an
Apple Design Award for their mobile app. Wipster is based out of New Zealand, and
you may know them if you're a Vimeo user because they have tight integration with
Vimeo.com. So what I want to do today is not necessarily compare them and say one
is better than the other but I want to introduce you to both so that you can
see what you can do with them and so you can judge for yourself
which might be the better option for you to use. Both of these services have
integration with Premiere Pro now. They have their own panels that you can
download and install. Ff you haven't installed a custom panel before, a custom
panel is like a plugin but it actually gives you an entire toolset and its own
window within your application. They're doing more than just loading a web page
within the application. It's actually software that's designed to run inside a
Premiere Pro. So it's very efficient. It doesn't bog anything down because it
saves you from having to export a video in a manual way outside of the
application and then open your browser, navigate to a web page and upload the
video. It does it all from within the application. So let's start with Frame.io
and I'll walk you through that process. And what I'm going to do is, I'm
going to share this with two of my family members. And they're ready and
waiting to comment on these videos once I get them uploaded. And what we're gonna
do is we're gonna skip ahead a little bit, so you can not have to sit there and
wait on the renders and the uploads. But you're gonna see how their comments come
in real time and how I can sync those back to my timelines and then start
addressing those comments and changes that they want to see. So I have a
project open that I just completed recently. This
is my program window so you see this is my timeline. This is my edited
project. I've already got everything put in here including music which I won't
include just so it's not distracting. And it's only a minute long, so this will be
an easy one to test with because it won't take a long time to render and
upload. But I've got this project done, and I want to send it to clients for
feedback to see what they think. So in Frame, I'm gonna go here first and I'm
going to upload a video. And you can choose from these options. Of course I
want this active sequence because that's the project I'm working on in Premiere
Pro. The next thing you can do is choose the options for the quality. ProRes,
audio only or two different web compressions here. I'm gonna choose the
720, because that's adequate for a review. And you can choose what part of the
project you want to render, and then you can tell it where to go. In my case, I'm
going to set it to a folder on my external hard drive because that's where
I save everything. And then there's a few more check boxes down here. If you have
made comments in markers to your client, you can include those now. Or you can
leave them off. And then you can keep the rendered file, or have it just upload it
and then delete it from your local drive. And auto-versioning just enables you to
upload further versions later without having to make a new project every time.
It's going to say this is version 2, this is version 3 and so on. So I'm going
to click upload. What it's going to do is, as you can see, launch Media Encoder in
the background. And then it will encode the video. Bring this to the front so you
can see it. It will automatically start encoding. As soon as it encodes, it's
going to then upload the video to Frame IO servers. And here's where I'm going to
pause and come back as soon as that process is over with. So that encode
has completed, and you can see now that Frame is automatically uploading the
video to their server.
And once it's uploaded, I'll then use the share button here to share it with
whoever I want to be able to comment on this project. The video has now been
uploaded and processed on Frame's server, and it's ready for me to share it with
individuals that I want to be able to comment on it. So by clicking "share" I can
turn on sharing if it's not already and copy a private link that's unique and
share it with whoever I want to. Now, as you can see I've opened my account in
the browser. From here, I'll be able to see when people start commenting on the
video. I can watch the video. I can make comments myself. I can respond to
whatever comments are made down here below as they start coming in. But this
is your account. This is where you would make all your changes, set up payments,
change preferences and you can actually change different options of the video
itself. Grayscale mode would work kind of like those who really like grayscale
only in their viewfinders. It eliminates the color from being distracting. You can
have the timeline scroll while you play, and of course you can turn the comments
on or off while you're watching it. So depending on your viewing environment
and exactly how you want to tailor it you can do that here. The other thing I
can do is I can share it with more people and I can download it. Downloading is
something you can control. You can choose whether they're allowed to download the
video or not. Now, you just saw a comment come in right there on my screen, and
that was made in real-time. You can see my wife made a comment. If
I click on it, it takes me to that time, and it shows me what she's referring to.
And she says, "What do you think about shortening this sequence?" So I know she's
referring to the middle section here where I use this yellow graphic. So I can
then reply to hers and say, "No way. I'm the editor here," and she will immediately
be notified about my snarky comment. Going back into the panel in Premiere
Pro, you can see I also have a notification saying somebody commented
on it. Clicking on the comment does the same thing. It brings me to that point. It
shows me who commented. It shows me the comment, and you can see also here even
within Premiere Pro the program window has jumped to that exact point in time.
And you can see while I was responding to that first one, I've now gotten a
second comment from another viewer. So Linda says, "I like to bring..." I think she
meant big, "I like the big green banners to get the viewers attention." So I can
immediately jump to that point on the timeline and say, "Okay, great, she likes
that." And I'm gonna like her comment, because she told me something positive
unlike my other commenter. And you'll also note that everything I'm doing in
the web application is synching entirely across into Premiere Pro on the fly. So
there's no need to press buttons, no need to close the project and reopen it. It's
all just showing up in real time. So it makes working on these videos super fast.
So that's Frame IO. Now let's move over to Wipster, and I'll show you how that
application works. Wipster also has its own panel that I'm using in Premiere Pro.
You can see here I actually have a team, and under there I can create project
folders. So again using the same video I'm going to upload the timeline with
this green button down here. And again choose my options. The destination is in
the folder I'm already navigated to, and I'm gonna choose a draft quality this
time just to save a little bit of time. And we can also choose a few
options here. I do like the ability to share this immediately by checking this
button. Because this way when I hit "start upload then share" I can walk away and I
can come back the next day or hours later and everything will have worked in
the background for me and my contributors can already be commenting.
So I want to add an approval button to this so that when they are
finally signed off, they can click this button that says, "We are completely
approving this video. It is ready to go. No more changes." That's great because
it's always nice to have that very clear acknowledgement by your client that they
are completely satisfied with this project, so they can't come back later
and say you completed the project without my approval even though you
maybe have thought that you had their approval. And of course we could disable
downloading. We can make it so that they can't comment, and we can password
protect it. So depending on how secure you need it to be, you can do a lot here
with it right within this panel. So as soon as I hit "start upload
and share" once again Media Encoder is launched and the encode begins. And then
it will upload and process the video and share it with my clients immediately. The
video has completed its render in Media Encoder. Now Wipster has uploaded
the video and is processing it. As soon as it's done processing, it will then
share with the collaborators. It's now been shared with
my two clients, and at any moment they should start commenting. And that
notification will start to come in here inside of Premiere Pro. While we're
waiting on that, I'll go ahead and show you what Wipster looks like in the
browser as well. Here's my project in Wipster on the web. And you can see who
I've shared it with here on the left by their initials. I can change the quality
here. If I had a higher resolution, I could down-res it to something more
manageable if I was on a slow connection trying to watch this. I can also share it
with others and see more specs about the video, including who's viewed it, who's
commented and who has approved it if necessary. And if you have one of those
clients that's just slow to respond to anything, you know wait a day or so and
then hit this little nudge button. And that will let them know, "Hey, remember
you're supposed to comment on this video and give feedback if you want to meet
your deadline." Aha, you can see I have my first comment now. And I'm gonna click on
this to bring up the comment window and hey we've got a positive comment right
off the bat. That's great! So we can go to that comment made by Heidi. Wipster
does not automatically pull in those comments. So I'll hit the refresh button,
and the comment now comes in including a thumbnail that I can view right there in
this panel. You can also see I have a second comment to respond to. "The client
should spray the back of the vinyl as well." Yes, they should. And while I'm
waiting for another response, I can show you here in Premiere Pro it's created
markers where I have comments and actually see what was said there as well.
So it brings all the comments in as actual markers in Premiere Pro, which is
great because as I'm completing these and I check them off like say, when I
mark that as complete it grays it out showing that this whole issue has now
been dealt with. So it makes it really easy to quickly scroll through here and
see what still needs to be fixed or not, because it shows
color where I still have to address something and everything goes grayscale
if I've already taken care of it. Once I've gotten enough comments to be worth
making a new version, all I need to do is make my changes here in Premiere Pro
wherever I need to. I can use these markers to quickly jump around and find
where I need to make the changes. As I'm going through, I can check these off
showing that I've already done them. And when I'm ready, I can just go here and
say resync version 1. And that will replace this with the new version, and my
collaborators can then start commenting on the new version and see if they need
to still address some of the previous issues or if everything's been taken
care of. Now you can see my other collaborator
has commented here in green which matches that person's icon here on the
left. So you can even see who's commenting where and how much they're
commenting. Right now it's blue 2, green 1. Blue is winning. And she just makes a
nice positive observation here. I'm gonna like it to tell her I agree with her and
click OK. Mark it as completed because there's nothing to really do on
this one. That means that all three of my comments have been addressed completely,
and I can now essentially finish off the project. And what I would want to do is
make sure that everyone's happy with it so using that wonderful approval button
I can look here and see if they approved it. You can see people have commented,
but nobody's actually approved it. I can either go to one of the comments,
uncomplete it and respond to it. Or I can just make my own comment maybe here at
the end and ask, "Are we approved?" My comment now shows up for everyone else
to be able to see. And then hopefully here my two commenters will reply and
say yes and yes. You can see now I do have one approval from a commenter and
as soon as I have the approval from the other commenter I can sign off on this
export the final project and upload it or share it wherever I need to. So that's
an overview of Wipster and Frame IO. Both of these services are meant to
fulfill the same purpose. They're supposed to ease
the pain point of sharing projects with your clients and waiting on feedback. It
makes it super easy by building everything right into Premiere Pro, but
it gives you the flexibility of using things like mobile apps or mobile
browsers or doing it on a desktop. Another key difference between these two
services is going to be pricing. I'll show you the pricing comparisons here, so
you can kind of see how they're structured. It is a fee that you pay by
month or by team member depending on the service you're using.
Depending on your budget and workflow, these plans are flexible for how many
projects you do each month and how many team members you need to be able to
collaborate with at any given time. So check out Frame IO and Wipster IO, and
figure out which of these two services would serve you best and make your life
as an editor a whole lot easier.

SmartPak Double Stitch Leather Halter Review - Duration: 1:10.
KERRI: Hi, I'm Kerri. I work in Marketing, and today
I'm reviewing the SmartPak
Double Stitch Halter. This is a beautiful leather
halter that's nice enough to be used for shows, but it's also
affordable and durable enough for everyday use, as well.
The leather on this halter is soft right out of the bag but
it also becomes more pliable with use.
Since this is my horse Riker's fancy halter, I had the optional
customized nameplate added, and it looks great on him.
He also looks especially nice with the black halter against
his gray coat. This halter is an especially great value
considering that the hardware is brass plated and it's made
in the USA. I bought this halter for Riker's 24th birthday,
because who doesn't want to look great on their birthday.
Because his nickname is "Pig Pen," he only gets to wear
this halter on special occasions but if your horse is less hard
on their halters, this would be
perfect for turnout, as well. And if your horse is like mine
and likes to get dirty, the great news is this halter's
super easy to clean with your favorite leather care product.
And if you want it to be even softer before its first use
you can apply oil. I find that this halter runs really
true to size. The horse size fits my gelding perfectly
and especially with the adjustable crown
piece and chin. I'm Kerri, and the SmartPak Double Stitch
Halter is my top pick for a gorgeous halter at
a great price.
