CAMILLA, the Duchess of Cornwall, has to work harder than any other member of the royal family to let the people know how involved she is in patronages and charities because of the media focus on younger royals, an expert has claimed.

The wife of Prince Charles had to push herself to be "very open" to the media to make sure news of her efforts reached the public.

And through the year she became very good at working with the press, an insider confirmed.

James Brookes, Director of Broadcasting and Communications at Royal Central, told Express.

uk: "Camilla is a very dedicated member of the royal family, she has engaged a lot in many patronages and has been supporting causes that are close to people hearts such as defence of domestic abuse victims or making sure prisoners get the chances to develop literacy skills.

"But she doesn't get the press younger royals get.

As Camilla and the public are entwined in a love-hate relationship, the royal became "as open as a royal can be" with the press and PR to "get the public on her side".

Mr Brookes said: "Camilla is always very receptive, very aware that the media are there, very inclusive, she always smiles to the cameras.

"Younger royals are perhaps more afraid and they tend to shun reporters, but she is much more receptive because she is aware she has to work a bit harder than some of the other royals.

Despite all her efforts, Mr Brookes pointed out that many fans of Princess Diana "will never forgive Camilla" for her relationship with Charles during their wedding.

Princess Diana once famously revealed in a BBC Panorama interview that the breakdown of her marriage came after she realised there were "three of us in this marriage.

Camilla, 70, married Prince Charles, 69, in 2005.

After their wedding, Clarence House announced that after the Queen's death the Duchess will have take the title of "Princess Consort" and not of Queen, possibly to not upset Diana's fans.
