Interested in getting a palette knife to up your wet on wet oil painting palette

game and not sure which one to get in this video right here we're gonna take a

look at the bob ross large and detailed pallet knife

coming at you right now! hey it's me it's wild coming at you for my creative

hey it's me it's wild coming at you for my creative control playlist right bring you the best tips tricks and even product

reviews just like in this video right here if this is your first time here

consider helping a bro out and hitting that subscribe button and ticking that

bell so you know when my videos go live for you today I got a fun little treat

we're gonna be reviewing the Bob Ross large pallet knife and the Bob Ross

detail of pallet knife this is a number 10 and this is a number 5 a lot of you

guys are pretty familiar with these if you've watched any of Bob Ross on Twitch

or YouTube you see him use these two knives quite often I always get asked

are these knifes worth paying up for well let's take a look and review them

really quick to see if they would fit exactly what you need for your painting

adventure let's start off with the bob ross number 10 this is also known as

just the large pallet knife this is what you would use if you're gonna put on

anything like a big ol mountain or rocks or cliffs this covers a lot of space

it's got a lot of open-ended side here for you to scrape and get your colors on

the edge of your knife so this way you can create nice little rolls if you have

to do anything like creating a mount and that's gonna take up an entire canvas

I'd or if you're just gonna use the edge to create snow breaks as you slowly

glide across the mountain it's also very good for putting in little extra details

when you have to scratch in when you use this spaded sign for things like

branches that are in the distance or twigs anything like that it's a great

little tool that helps you all the time and you're probably gonna use the large

knife a lot if you're doing wet-on-wet styled oil paintings the bob ross detail

pallet knife or the number 5 pallet knife is a great tool to have for things

that are hard to reach in certain spots for example if you're making a few mountains

and one of the background mountains is in the distance and needs a shadow or

highlights I'd that's very small this ninth is perfect for it because it's

half the size of the large pallet knife or perhaps you need some detail areas

where you have water laying on the edge of a bank and you have to scratch it in

again this is a perfect tool it fills in a plethora of different needs that you

will use for your oil painting everything from skies for clouds that

you want to add extra thick details on to things like rivers that you want a

scratch in water or rocks that you want to add a little bit of detailing this is

actually a really good knife and I highly recommend it now let's go over

why I recommend the bob ross palette knifes really quick we're just going to

take a look at the large because it's the same attributes across both when you

look at the bob ross palette knife one of the best things you're gonna notice

about it is the actual handle it comes to a contour shape that fits perfectly

in the hand it's a nice little cylinder shape that opens up wider at the bottom

that feels really good as you need to hold it and it's actually got a very

very thick handle which makes it perfect for when you have to hold it very

gingerly as you're gonna glide across your mountain there to allow the snow to

break a lot of other pallet knives that you've seen have square ends and yep

they feel fine and they're comfortable and everything like that but they're not

as contoured for the hand when you have to hold them and that's what makes the

bob ross pallet knife so nice if you're gonna use your knife day in and day out

or if you're gonna do a lot of painting this round shape actually helps out a

bunch positive number two about this pallet knife what makes it so fun and

fascinating and works great for a myriad of details that you need to put in is

the ability for it to bend and move with your canvas or palette this makes it

very easy for when you have to take up paint and scrape it down to mix colors

or maybe make them a little bit more Marbley for your canvas or when you're

applying things on your canvas and you need it to actually Bend and scrape

across it's nice when you have the flexibility within the knife here a lot

of other knives are actually too stiff and you'll be surprised at how much you

can't allow them to work across your canvas because that rigidness and the

knife is too resistance of when you're trying to get things like paint brakes

to work or it might not actually work the best for putting in details on rocks

or in water so make sure if you don't go with the bob ross palette a knife at

least get something that has a lot of bend within it it's gonna pay off a lot

when you're using one of these tools an additional good point to make about this

pallet knife is the fact that it's well balanced for the whole entire night now

it's not completely balanced but it will pretty much hold within your fingers

just like that it's balanced almost perfectly which helps out a lot for when

you have to let the knife do pretty much all of the work for you if you've ever

heard bob ross you basically go across your canvas a lot of the times with your

palette knife like a whisper and the reason he's able to do that is because

this knife is so well balanced you let the weight of the balance of the knife

work when you add paint on the edge of the rolls it's gonna become a little

top-heavy so when you take your knife across it's all weighing onto the canvas

and allows you to gingerly glide across that's probably why a lot of you have a

lot of troubles your palette knife may not be balanced and the bob ross knife

is extremely well balanced let's talk about something I actually don't like

about the bob ross palette knife one of my biggest complaints about this knife

is I actually deem it a professional knife it's legitimately a knife this

edge right here is extremely sharp which makes it very hard to use if you're a

beginning painter out there it actually comes to a straight cut at the end of

the knife which makes sense it's a palette knife it's supposed to do that

but a lot of other palette knives actually have like a curved end on them

which I find extremely easier if you're starting out to apply things like snow

on top of a mountain my actual detail knife that I use a lot of time when I'm

painting on Twitch is this so-called knife it has a rounded edge it is not

sharp on the end at all and I highly recommend this knife if you're starting

out that's the only gripe I have Bob Ross palette knife is it's it's a

professional knife you need to have a little bit of experience if you want to

use this big boy knife same thing with the detail knife it's very sharp at

these ends so when you're trying to cut paint on you're literally cutting it on

and you have to have all the experience to go with it as you've come across

gingerly if you're just starting out I would probably recommend this knife I'll

put all the links in the description below check out the show notes so you

can see all these different ones since we talked about another pallet knife

let's touch on this really quick this is Michael's artist's loft pallet knife and

it's extremely cheap and it works well if you're starting off I highly

recommend picking it up I will put a link in the description below so you can

check it out I use this knife all the time and it's the small detail knife

it's perfect for working out all the things you need on a mountain river

Lakes rocks cliffs anything like that and like I said before the reason it's

so much better than the Bob Rost pallet knife at least for beginners is it has

that rounded edge right here that makes it so easy when you're letting snow

break off it literally just falls right off the knife yes it requires a little

bit more snow or sorry it requires a little bit more paint to create snow but

I actually kind of like a lot of thick texture on a painting and I do recommend

picking this up if you don't have a lot of money this is a great place to start

because the bob ross pallet knives range somewhere between about 15 to 25 USD

depending on where you can find it up and I do think that they're worth the

extra money but this pallet knife you can pick it up

at Michael's for about $3 and sometimes it's even on sale for even less and I do

recommend this because this is a beautiful knife now if you can't get the

Bob Ross palette knifes on Amazon or perhaps you don't have a Michaels near

you where you can get the more affordable artists loft knife I actually

started out using a different palette knife that I really really love and I'll

put a link in the description below it was this knife right here unfortunately

I lost it

but it's a great knife and I use it all the time unfortunately rather than just

getting a replacement for it I just got my Bob Ross kit which came with my

pallet knife and I kind of just upgraded from there and I do love it it works

just like the Bob Ross knife and the artists off knife combined it's not as

sharp it's got a very nice handle it fends at the middle and it's got a wide

opening to cover a lot of canvas space so I recommend picking up that knife if

you don't have any of the other options out there just a quick bro tip for all

you guys out there if you do pick up any of these pallet and i'm spoiler it be

the larger the detail knife and when you use them to paint and you're all done

make sure you clean them immediately I like to use baby wipes and I like to

clean off all the metal if not make sure you use something like lukewarm water

and Dawn dish soap that'll eat away at all the oils and make sure you dry them

because if you let these things crust up with hard paint on them it's actually

get bumps on the edge of the knife and it's gonna interfere with your painting

abilities when trying to create things like paint breaks or water or cliffs so

make sure you always clean all of your gear when you're done hey hopefully I

got you really excited about owning one or all of these palette knives that I

mentioned here the Bob Ross ones are great they are a little more expensive

I'll put a link in the description below if you can't afford these or you can't

get them make sure you check out the other ones that I mentioned earlier in

the video also I'll put a link in the description below hey thank you so much

for watching this video I do truly appreciate it and if you like this video

go ahead and leave a comment it really does help a bro out and if there's

anything else that you would like me to review make sure you let me know in the

Review | Avengers: Infinity War (Spoiler free!) - Duration: 6:43.

Hi and welcome back to Reel Opinions. It's a big one. It's Avengers Infinity

War which comes out I suppose 36 hours from when this comes out I

think, and it's good. It's genuinely really good. It already says in the title

of the video but just to clarify, definitely no spoilers are here. Not

even vaguely spoiler stuff, I just want to keep focusing on... not necessarily

vague points but nonspecific. I'm going to be splitting up this review

kind of into two parts. One focusing on the experience of the film and the other

being the film itself which will make sense when I get onto it. If you were

just a big Marvel fan and you're going through the reviews on YouTube trying to

find if you should believe the hype or not then I would say, one, listen

just to the first half of this video, and two, yes I would say so. Which is rare for

me because I don't think I've said that for a Marvel film for a long time.

Possibly not since the first Avengers. The reason I'm going to be

breaking up the review into two parts is that as a film I think it's great but

has a few flaws but as like a movie cinematic event I think that it is the

most effective it's being in a long long time and I think that

even for myself, not a super fan of the series, I found myself honestly

captivated and enthralled as to what was going to come next. Even staying away

from fan theories you hear the fan theories and I think one very

important point to make is that it surprised me which is not something a

Marvel film has done in a long time. It genuinely surprised me, there were

moments where I couldn't believe that they made those choices. Perhaps more

because I kind of view it so much as a (in context) as a very safe series so

maybe that led into me being much more surprised. But I think that just

leads into my ongoing point that I think fans are definitely going to get exactly

what they were hoping for with this film. I really enjoyed it. The comedy

is an improvement still on civil war and becomes much more hit than miss it is

still hit and miss for me but much more hit this time. All of the matchups I

think with characters meeting each other for the first time, I think that

they play off each other very well in almost every single scene - and coming

into that the creative way which the Russos dealt with the fight choreography

in Civil War definitely continues with this. Constantly trying to find new ways

to just make these superheroes combine and find new

interesting ways to try and make their powers fun to watch. I'm just so

surprised that I think that they did manage to live up to the expectations of

everything that's been set up to this film. I think there could be some

controversial decisions that maybe some fans don't enjoy but I don't think any

fan could say that they didn't deliver on the premise of this film. As a

cinema experience I would say that it was the one of the most enjoyable I've

had in a long time, genuinely, and again coming not as a

complete super fan of the series. Now is the part of the video where I'll jump

into some of the flaws that I found with it - so if you just wanted to hear the

full positive stuff maybe tune out now. I'm not ripping into it or anything just

that it's small aspects where I wasn't necessarily disappointed but I

thought it could be improved upon and certain story beats that I think could

be if anything just cut or changed. Again with being vague and spoiler free.

Firstly is the cinematography which, considering the amount that they poured

into this film does not I think look as impressive as they hoped and I find that

the ways in which the Russos put the camera I find actually takes away

sometimes from what's happening on screen. I don't think that they portray

action in the best way that they possibly could. However, I will say that

every time they have a creative idea involving shots then that's pulled off

very well, surprisingly, so it's a weird mixture where I think when the moments

where it counts I think they pull off some really great visual moments, but in

a lot of the hand-to-hand combat and less important moments in this

film I think that the camerawork feels like sloppy and almost unclear at points.

Not to a point where it's completely detrimental to the film, but parts where

I just thought it didn't feel like it was tightly made. Maybe they are

going for slightly more off-the-cuff aspect to it, to try and give a kind of

more realistic feel to everything, but I think they just kind of came off as -- when

you're doing it in such a massive CGI world for a lot of the film it doesn't

come off that way, it comes off as kind of easy camerawork and I think it shows

off a lot of how they are directors that have come from TV. Another middling

point is that sometimes I think some of the initial interactions between the

characters I think happened very quickly just because

want to get this show on the road. This doesn't feel like a long

film but this is a long film they have a lot to get through and so I can

understand that sometimes they need to rush through some introductions but I

think like, for instance, some of the characters meeting aliens for the first time that

seemed to be very brushed under the rug and just kind of "Let's go. Keep up the

pace. We got to keep going." From the moment the film starts it never really

stops going the whole film and I find it admirable but yeah I just think there

were certain parts that were brushed under the rug a bit too much to get on

with the action. There's only one newly established character in this film

which is Peter Dinklage and I thought his character was stupid. I didn't take

it seriously the whole time he was on screen and I know you could say that

this was a film where you're not meant to take everything completely seriously

but it was just a silly character and I every time he was on screen--

[JACK WAS TIRED AND CUT THIS POINT SHORT]

I'm genuinely amazed for some of the story points that they went with in the end.

Oh, and the story points thing that I wanted to touch on is just that I briefly said

about fan theories earlier and I think that that has kind of come into play

into the script. I've talked a lot in recent reviews about how the idea

that fans reactions to things, because of internet culture, I think media is

becoming a lot more reactionary to fans responses for things and I think

certain scenes in this play into that a tiny bit. Not so necessarily much in a

fanservice way but just in a way that it's clearly playing off fans

expectations and again for those scenes I think that they could have been played

differently or to be honest scrapped in order of more character building moments

as opposed to setting up more questions just for the sake of more questions.

Again, I'm trying to stay vague but if someone watches the film and then comes

back to this review I think that they might pretty easily put what scenes I'm

trying to explain. It was genuinely impressive film, a really fun experience

in the cinema, and while I don't think it will be like my favourite film of the

year or anything like that I think that this goes to show it's just if anything

it proves it as a big experiment that I think has paid off and I think that is

ultimately going to cement it in a lot of fans hearts as like a true favorite

series now. If you like this review and you want to hear more you subscribe to

I Bought 6 Shoutouts From Instagram Influencers (Marketing Experiment) - Shoutcart Review - Duration: 4:13.

- The classic strategy to grow on Instagram is reach out

to influencers, have them mention your channel

or your product, and grow like that.

The standard process for doing that is

to cold email the influencers, build a relationship,

and grow organically like that.

But I found this company recently called

Shoutcart that promises to get you mentions

with these Instagram influencers

for very little money, like 15 bucks,

five bucks for thousands of followers on the account.

So I tested it out, and here are the results.

First, let's start with some baseline numbers.

Here's my Instagram account.

We started this experiment on March 15th.

Our Instagram followers were at 3,062,

and our Twitter followers were at 3,096.

Originally, I thought I'll pick a couple channels

on Shoutcart, and we'll send the same picture.

So I chose this image, which, on our Instagram account

got over 100 likes when we posted it a couple months ago,

and I figured let's have three or four accounts post it

at the same time, same sort of caption, and see how it does.

Here are those posts on Shoutcart.

What's interesting here is Shoutcart will let

you rank by rating, and I figured ones

with higher ratings would have more results.

So I sorted the list only by that rating

and spent about $50.00 on this campaign.

So results from round one, measured on March 22nd,

we ended up with the following: 3,116 Instagram followers,

3107 Twitter followers, so we gained 54 Instagram followers,

and 11 Twitter followers.

Not impressive at all.

No leads were generated in batch one

for any of our companies.

Because of the way Shoutcart works,

we had a few dollars left.

They refunded the amounts for the two or three accounts

that didn't shout us out, and so we had about $30.00

to play with, so I wanted to go in for round two.

This time, instead of posting the same image

to all the accounts, we decided to go

into each of these influencer accounts and create

an image, similar to what they post, with a shout out

to the Alex Berman Instagram channel.

So for round two, we bought three shout outs.

The first one was with a profile called Deep Ambitions.

Here are their most engaged-with posts from the last month.

Both have about 29,000 likes.

And you can see the first one is two emojis,

and the other one is a quick quote.

We found a post on Google that was similar

to what Deep Ambitions posts with two emojis

and calling out Alex Berman 1

with the phrase "caption this."

The second one is an Instagram account called Luxurious Man.

Here are their two most popular posts in the last month.

One's about a black R8 in the snow

and asking people to name the actor.

That one has over 3,000 likes.

And the other picture is of a first-class cabin,

also with over 3,000 likes.

So here's mine, a red Ferarri,

and it's a picture of Michael Fassbender,

asking the same thing, can you tell who the actor is?

And the last one was for a page called Success Diaries.

Here are their two posts, one with 2,400 likes, and one

with 2,516 likes, and it's a quote with a quick message.

Of those three channels, Luxurious Man didn't post,

so we're gonna get a refund on that.

The other two did post, and here are our final results.

On March 26th, we ended up with 3,148 Instagram followers,

and 3,111 Twitter followers.

And zero leads.

All in, is Shoutcart worth it?

I would say no.

I am interested in experimenting

more with Instagram influencers.

We'll most likely do another test like this based

on emailing them, doing real collabs, and growing like that.

Right now, I wouldn't recommend Shoutcart,

at least not for what we do.

Total growth over the experiment, in two weeks,

we gained 86 Instagram followers, and 15 Twitter followers.

So not worth it, well below the average.

What do you think, what has been the most effective way

you've found to reach out to influencers?

I'd actually love to take a look at any

scripts you're sending out, if you want

to post them down in the comments below.

It could set us up for another good experiment.

If you found this valuable, I would love

if you would share it with a friend

who also might get value from it.

We're trying to hit 100,000 subs this year,

and every share counts.

Also, if you want marketing support

for your digital agency, maybe someone

to help run through experiments like this

with your company, check out Experiment27.com, thanks.

Jeep Wrangler JKS Jspec 2.5" Lift Kit (2007-2018 JK 2 Door) Review & Install - Duration: 22:59.

This JKS Jspec 2.5 inch lift kit is for those of you who have a 2007 and up four-door JK

and are looking for a 2.5 inch lift kit that's very well-built and also very complete.

Now, the J-control version of this lift kit is going to be more expensive.

It's also going to include some additional components like some control arm brackets

to help correct for your pinion and your caster angle in the front of your jeep, where this

kit is not going to have that.

So, can you run 2.5 inches of lift without any sort of caster and pinion correction?

Yes, if you decide you do want to run some sort of pinion or caster correction, you can

always add a set of control arm brackets or get a set of adjustable control arms which

will also add some articulation to your Jeep.

We'll talk a little bit more about that in just a second.

A kit like this that's at 2.5 inches is going to be for those of you who want to run roughly

a 35-inch tire, still have some room to flex.

That's going to be a combination that looks really good, but also works very well on-road

and off-road.

Now, the JKS does provide, like I said before, a very well-built, well-put together lift

kit that does include a set of Fox shocks.

And even though these aren't the top of the top of the line Fox shocks, this is still

going to drive the price of this lift kit up a little bit.

So, when you're looking at JKS, you should expect a well-built, fairly complete kit,

however, you are going to pay a little bit more because of the quality of the components

that are included.

This is going to be a two out of three wrench installation that will take you around three

hours to get done.

We'll talk a little bit more about that in just a second.

This kit includes a set of four new coil springs which are going to provide those 2.5 inches

of lift, and these are going to be a dual rate coil spring.

Now, there's much debate about what is best, a linear, dual rate, triple rate or a progressive

rate spring.

The dual rate that come in this kit are going to provide a fairly comfortable ride when

you're at ride height, but also a slightly stiffer spring when you do get down too close

to a coil bind situation, so they're going to be good for off-road as well as on-road.

As I said, this does come with a set of Fox shocks for that new taller ride height.

These are going to be the Fox Adventure Series 2.0 shocks.

Now, these aren't going to be the T6061 aluminum that the higher end Fox shocks are.

These are going to be an alloy that are covered in a powdered coat finish instead of just

a clear anodized finish, but either way, they're still going to provide a really nice ride.

These are going to be a nitrogen-charged shock, and the nitrogen-charged inline shock is there

to eliminate any sort of bubbling or cavitation that you can get in the shock fluid when you

work that shock really hard over time.

Working a shock over a long period of time or hitting some higher speed washboards can

cause some shock fade, and the nitro shock will have a lot less of that, help to eliminate

any kind of shock fade.

Now, in general, a nitro shock will ride harder than a hydro shock, but most of the ride quality

does come down to valving, and that's something that Fox does really well.

So you're still going to be in a comfortable ride from these shocks while still getting

the benefits of that nitrogen charge.

Here, you have a front track bar that comes in this lift kit.

This is going to be an adjustable track bar that's much stronger than the factory bar.

The factory track bar can start to flex when you get a larger tire on your Jeep.

This is going to give you zero flex so you're not going to have any wobble-type feeling.

And this is, of course, adjustable, so you can fully center that front axle underneath

the Jeep.

Over here, you're going to have a rear track bar bracket.

This doesn't provide you with quite as much adjustability as some of the other ones out

there.

You're not going to be able to change the roll center.

It doesn't give you three different positions for mounting your track bar.

However, it is a very well-built, very stout track bar that's going to get the job done,

moving the mounting point up a little bit, flattening out the track bar angle and working

very well to get you back on the road again.

Over here, you have a set of JKS Quicker Disconnects for the front of your JK after you get the

lift installed, and I really like these sway bar disconnects.

These are going to be adjustable so you can get the length exactly where you want it,

and you can disconnect these from not just one side, but both sides, allowing you to

completely remove them and throw them in the Jeep as opposed to some of the others that

just allow you to disconnect from one side and then fold them up out of the way.

These are also going to be greasable.

They fit very tight so you're not going to get any rattles, and because they are greasable

and made of high quality materials, they're going to last you a good, long time.

The kit is also going to include all the hardware necessary to get it installed, as well as

some brake line relocation brackets that are going to be necessary to ensure you don't

pull the brake line taut when you're off-road.

This is a $1,200 lift kit and a lot of that cost does come from the Fox shocks.

Fox does make a premium product.

They do charge a little bit more for them.

And even though these aren't Fox's top of the line shocks, they are going to be more

expensive than some of the other kits out there that have a more no-name style shock

with them.

But, you're not just paying for the shocks with this, you are getting a lot of components

and you're getting a lot of high quality components from JKS which are going to make this lift

kit ride really well and last a long time.

So, in my opinion, this is worth the $1,200 price tag.

This is going to be a two out of three wrench installation that will take you around three

hours to get done.

This isn't a kit that includes control arm so you're not going to have to do that additional

work, which will cut down on the time a little bit.

You're going to want to have a socket set and some wrenches handy, of course, some jack

and some jack stands.

If you have access to a lift in either pneumatic tools or electric tools, it will definitely

speed the process along, and I always recommend to bring all of the applicable nuts and bolts

with a good penetrating oil well before you get started.

That time spent is going to pay dividends in the end, speeding up your installation.

Now that we've got the Jeep in the air, we're going to remove the wheels.

We're going to start off by supporting the rear axle with a pole jack.

Then we're going to move on to removing the shocks, the track bar, the springs, and the

sway bar end links.

Using an 18-millimeter socket and wrench, we can remove our lower shock bolt.

Using a 16-millimeter socket and a long extension, we can unbolt the upper shock mount bolts.

Next, we're going to remove the lower sway bar link bolts using an 18-millimeter socket

and wrench.

Next, we're going to remove the lower track bar bolt.

Next, we're going to remove the E-brake bracket.

And I'm going to let this hang.

Next, we'll use a 10 millimeter and remove the brake line bracket.

Next, we can lower our pole jacks down to lower the rear and remove the stock springs.

So, first step for the rear installation is we're going to bolt our bump stop extenders

to the rear, using the blocks provided and the provided hardware pack.

Using two 13-millimeter wrenches, we can tighten these up.

Next, we need to drill some new holes for our lower sway bar end links, to accommodate

the new lift.

So, we need to measure up an inch-and-a-quarter from the center of the factory hole.

Make a mark, and we need to drill a half-inch hole.

Next, we can mount our track bar relocation bracket.

And this spacer about through here.

We're going to use the factory bolt and nut tab for the bottom portion of the track bar

bracket.

Next, we can bolt up the support bracket.

And now we can loosely install our E-bolt.

We can go back and tighten everything up now.

Next, we're going to tighten up the two E-bolt nuts with the 19 millimeter socket.

And you want to do this evenly, so don't tighten one side all up at once.

Do a little bit on one side and swap to the other side.

Now that we have our track bar bracket installed, we can begin by putting our shocks in.

And then we'll move on to the springs and we're going to attach our sway bar end links,

and put our brake line drop brackets in.

Next we're going to install our new springs and we're going to reuse the factory spring

isolator for the top.

Next, we can reconnect our sway bar end links.

Next, we're going to install the rear brake line drop brackets.

We use the factory hardware for the upper bolt.

We're going to use the supplied hardware for the bottom hole.

The top bolt's a 10 millimeter, bottom bolt is an 11 millimeter.

Next, we're going to start off by removing the lower shock bolts using an 18-millimeter

socket and wrench.

Next, we can move on to removing the sway bar end links, 18-millimeter socket and wrench.

Next, we can remove the lower track bar bolt.

And remove the upper track bar bolt next, and completely remove the front track bar.

Next, we can remove our brake line bracket to make room for the brake line bracket extender.

Next, we can lower the front diff a little bit, and we can pull our springs out.

Next, using a 16-millimeter ratchet wrench, we're going to disassemble the top portion

of the shock.

Next, we need to drill a hole in our spring perch so we can add a bump stop extension.

I'm going to install the spring with the bump stop spacer loose.

It will be less distance.

I have to compress the spring and make it easier for installation.

And once we get the spring in, then we can bolt our bump stop spacer in place.

Next up, we're going to be installing our new Fox shocks.

Using a 19-millimeter wrench, we're going to tighten up the top shock now.

Next, we're going to install our front brake line and drop brackets.

Next, we're going to install our Quick Disconnect sway bar end links.

Be sure to tighten the jam nut.

We can now reattach our lower shock bolts.

Last but not least, we're going to install our front track bar.

We can get our pole jacks out of here, and we've successfully installed the JKS lift

kit.

Make sure to get your vehicle aligned, and after 500 miles of driving, double check all

your bolts that were previously loosened.

So, if you're looking for a high quality 2.5 inch lift kit, I definitely recommend the

JKS Jspec 2.5 inch that you can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

Arby's® | Bourbon BBQ Chicken Sandwich Review! 🤠🍗🍞 - Duration: 5:04.

this video is brought to you by capbeast.com design your own custom snap backs and hats

hey everyone it's Ian K back again with another one for ya this

time headed back into Arby's to check out one of their all-new bourbon

barbecue sandwiches that's right it looks like barrel-aged kentucky bourbon

barbecue sauce is back on the menu here at Arby's and I've actually never tried

it on their buttermilk chicken before so let's see what that's all about after we

set ourselves up to that drive-thru

yeah peep this out can I go for one of those new bourbon barbecue sandwiches

the buttermilk chicken just a sandwich by itself and that's it great thanks so much alright

now I've done a bunch of Arby's reviews in the past with this Kentucky bourbon barbecue

sauce make sure to hit that playlist in the upper right hand corner of our

display and get caught up hey good thanks so much I appreciate it

alright guys let's peep this out

well it's another one from the masters of meatcraft this time it's the Bourbon

barbecued chicken sandwich and as always we've got that star cross bun on the

very top let's take a look underneath see what we've got going here

lots of crispy onion guys and a decent amount of that candied brown sugar bacon

right there attached to some barrel-aged Kentucky Bourbon barbecue sauce lots of

it apparently there let's peel this back just a little bit get a nice look at all

that good stuff there looking really really tasty you got to love that

candied bacon here at Arby's it is pretty decent we've got some cheddar

cheese and the buttermilk crispy chicken filet on the bottom let me lift this up

just a little bit so we can see a little bit more of that fairly decent-sized

patty with even more of that Kentucky Bourbon barbecue sauce on the bottom and

it's just a little bit for accent because most of it is on top but not a

bad-looking sandwich here guys my first time having the crispy chicken here at

Arby's and it definitely looks pretty awesome let's give this one a shot let's

sink our teeth into it it's the Bourbon barbecue chicken sandwich here at Arby's

let's peep out this flavor this sure is a pretty nice-sized looking sandwich for

the money and it definitely looks pretty tasty let's dive in it's the new bourbon

barbecue chicken sandwich here at Arby's

mmm right off the bat instant flavor from that candied brown

sugar bacon on top of the barrel-aged Kentucky barbecue sauce right away guys

it's got like a smoky mesquite type flavor then the smokiness comes even

further from the bacon then you get into the crispness of that buttermilk chicken

and there just overall everything just works amazingly well pretty tasty so far

definitely yeah the crispy coating on this buttermilk chicken easily makes it

on top of that barbecue sauce that combination is very delicious and when

you're adding the candied brown sugar bacon to the mix guys you're getting the

sweetness the smokiness of that as well and overall it makes for a very hearty

chicken sandwich and I'm really glad this is my first time having the

buttermilk chicken here and I chose this one because this really is the best way

to start it off for me and I only say that because who doesn't really like

crispy chicken and barbecue sauce it's definitely a favorite of mine ever since

I was a kid and with this version here at Arby's it's done extremely well throw

in that combination of all the other ingredients on this one and you've got a

very very nice mix of smoky candied sweetness as well as just overall

juiciness from the meat itself here it's a pretty tasty and honestly like I was

expecting the cheese is getting lost to the mix on this one because of the

dominant flavors of the bacon as well as that barbecue sauce but again it is the

glue to hold everything together like I always say and it's holding it together

pretty nicely man that chicken is very very good I

love the homestyle breading on this guys and it is juicy for white me which

I'm really glad about one more shot on the inside along with one more point on

those crispy onions they really do add a nice dimension of flavor to the sandwich

overall which is more crispy goodness on top of it but the onion flavor that

they've got is on the stronger side so it does stand out right after you get

all the flavors in from the bacon and the barbecue sauce pretty well done but

as always that's just my opinion what do you guys think are you guys a fan of the

bourbon barbecue sauce sandwiches here at Arby's because they've had a few

versions of these in the past but have you ever had it with the chicken drop

those comments down below and definitely let me know and as for the overall score

I'm gonna have to give the Bourbon barbecue chicken sandwich here at Arby's

a rock-solid 9 out of 10 just about everything on this sandwich works with

the exception of the flavor from the cheese I'm not really getting anything

in the background with that but it is holding everything together so it is

doing its job but I can't really complain too much because the flavors

from a bacon as well as the barbecue sauce are really what's causing that but

overall guys a very delicious chicken sandwich and one that I would easily

recommend easily and those are my thoughts on one of the newest items here

at Arby's as we close out another episode of peep this out guys I'm like I

always say I've got brand new content every single week here in my channel so

while you stay tuned for the next review coming real soon in the meantime stay

frosty yeah the next time Arby's drops the Buffalo version of this one I am

most definitely gonna give that one a shot because the buttermilk chicken

rocks this was really good alright guys until next time I'll talk to you soon

The Vanguard Forge EDC 2.0 Custom Knife Review. A Gentleman's Compact Fixed Blade. - Duration: 6:12.

I finally did it.

Hopefully you guys have been taking bets.

Stark Parker hopes it was a finger…

Which appendage do you think?

Ok just my finger I cut my finger…

I went to urgent care in hopes of stitches, but all I got was a butterfly.

I hope someone lost a lot of money- other than me from my co-pay.

And the knife that did it was this one.

The Vanguard Forge EDC 2.0.

A small gentleman's fixed blade knife.

They make, uhh made- to order- is it ok to have two tenses of a word in the same sentence?

Made to order custom knives.

But let's look at the dimensions of the one they sent me for review.

Like the overall length and weight with and without the sheath.

You're like so how did it happen?

Blade size, cutting edge.

Batoning right?

Handle size and grip area- maybe you were chopping with a knife instead of an axe- that's

dumb I hope it was that.

Spine thickness and handle thickness.

Running with it?

Tallness.

Stump throwing.

Drinking?

No I was unsheathing it while reading stuff on the internet.

This Vanguard Forge 2.0 features a drop point modified tanto style blade with a flat grind.

You know, which is my favorite grind.

The steel used is AEB-L cryogenically hardened to 61 HRC.

AEB-L is said a good amount of wear resistance and still be a stainless steel.

The top of the blade is rounded, and it has a satin finish.

It is very obviously sharp out of the box, and it cut through my pointer finger like

it was butter.

A great food prep knife for cannibals.

The handle can be had in lots of things, but mine is a smooth polished G10.

It's a full tang blade, and it's hard to feel edges where the scales end and the

tang begins.

It's very comfortable in my hand, however this particular knife is just a little smaller

than I like.

If you're a person that likes a blade like the Rat II or delica, you should be just fine.

And since it's a fixed blade and sort of resembles a kitchen knife it's probably

legal in more areas because you know that makes a lot of sense.

The sheath.

The sheath is a molded kydex with a tek lock compatibility… which you can buy a lot of

places- maybe even your drug dealer.

It's that plastic thing on the back of all of those Chinese fixed blades I've reviewed.

The fit is a tight fit, and like on all kydex sheaths you should not use two hands to unsheath.

That's how I cut myself.

It's best to be careful and do it like this, hold and press with your thumb.

I think about the only other time in the past year and I half I cut myself sort of bad was

on My More companion because I used to hands to pull it out.

Comparison.

Let's compare it to the Esee Izula I.

The izula has a shorter blade and thicker blade stock.

The handle is shorter too, however it has the finger groove and guard up front, so it's

a little easier to hold onto during harder use.

Next is the Rat II, again a more pronounced finger groove- something since vanguard forge

is a custom knife maker with plenty of handmade fixed blades in the mid 100 range, they can

customize what works best for your hand and cutting style.

The Rat II is a bit better in the grip department, but it's still too small a knife for me.

Delica….

I found it everyone!

It was on my messy work bench downstairs.

nice handle, a little small, and a shorter blade and cutting edge when compared to the

vanguard.

Let's see lastly- a larger knife a little more in my area of size preference.

The Spyderco Tenacious.

I couldn't find my Para Military 2 at the time, so this one was the one.

I hope you think it's a good choice.

Let's wrap it up.

If you know anything about custom knives, I don't but if you do… they ain't cheap-

because people spend a ton of labor to make each one.

Vanguard Forge makes quite a few interesting designs… you can

look at their gallery page, and email Mitch and talk with him about what you'd like.

The knife is very nice looking, with a small tasteful logo, fit and finish are great, and

materials used are excellent.

Vanguard specializes in food prep friendly fixed blades and some designs are good looking

camp knives too… if you'd like something fine for camp work or kitchen work these knives

fit the bill and carry a lifetime warranty.

If you like this review subscribe, comment, give it a thumbs up, watch my other videos,

thanks for watching.

Jeep Wrangler Axial LED Halo Headlights - DRL & Turn Signals (1997-2018 TJ & JK) Review & Install - Duration: 9:50.

Updating and refreshing your headlights from halogens to LED is a pretty common and easy

way to get a much brighter and cleaner light that will last a longer time.

These Axial LED Halo Headlights feature some very cool Angel Eye daytime running lights

and are a very easy and affordable way to refresh the front end of your '97 to '18 TJ

or JK.

The updated style of these headlights will give you a pretty aggressive look over the

stock halogen lights while also distributing more light, so you have better visibility

at night on those dark back roads.

Install on this one, guys, will require some simple wiring for the halos, but the rest

is plug-and-play so it gets a very simple one out of three wrenches on the difficulty

meter from me.

And we'll show you how to do that in just a minute.

I personally like how these are set up aesthetically, and I think their accent lighting and design

stands out from the standard halos that we have available.

These have bright LEDs in the middle with the Angel halo outer brim that will act as

a daytime running light, and these will actuate with your turn signals.

These lights have a color temperature of 5,600K to 6,000K, which is a bright white light,

producing up to 6,400 lumens collectively with the LED bulbs.

To put everything into perspective for you, if we're rating color temperatures on a scale,

these will be much whiter than the halogens, which sit in the warmer and lower end at right

around 2,700K.

The lower-rated number explains that yellow hue of the halogen as well as the mediocre

lighting that a halogen provides.

LEDs are not only brighter but they're more efficient and they have a longer lifespan

overall, lasting up to 50,000 hours with this set.

And when you're talking about the bulb itself, LEDs are very common in lightbars and offer

lighting for that reason.

In comparison, most halogens will burn out after 3,000 hours.

These lights are protected by a die-cast aluminum housing with a strong polycarbonate lens,

and to put it simply for you, these lights are very tough and rigid with a lens that

offers complete transparency and a high-impact resistance, keeping the light inside safe

when taking any hits.

These are IP67-rated, so they're sealed very well, and you won't have to worry about any

condensation or dirt getting inside the lens and hurting your bulbs.

These will not be the least expensive options for the TJ and the JK that we offer on the

site with an LED halo design, but they are on the lower end of the spectrum with a price

at right around $160 at the moment.

Axial is more of a budget brand that has lower prices and their other choices will consist

of headlights starting at $110, but they will have more of a simplistic design and some

won't include the halo option.

Then you have the premium options that can range all the way up to $900 for projector

headlights and very intricately designed options, like KC's Gravity Series and Putco's Luminix

LEDs.

The design of those pricier options do really explain the price, so these are simplistic

in comparison.

That said, these are still higher quality and definitely priced well, so they make for

a very easy solution when it comes to replacing your factory lights and refreshing the front

end of your Wrangler.

Install is simple, guys, at one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, but will

require some additional wiring for the halos, like I mentioned before.

This should only take you about an hour to get hooked up, and now I'll pass it over to

the installers to show you how these are installed.

You start off by opening your hood.

Next, using a T15 Torx, remove the chrome trim bezel around your headlight.

Next, remove the chrome trim ring.

Next, remove the four T15 Torx that secure the headlight in.

Now, remove your headlight and unplug the harness from the back of the headlight.

We're going to start off by running the necessary wires for the halo.

Then, we can plug the new headlight in.

Reinstall the headlight, and secure it with the trim ring.

Now, we're going to do the same thing for the other headlight.

We're going to run our jumper wires for the halos.

Next, we're going to install the inside trim ring that secures the headlight in place.

Next, we're going to install the outer trim ring.

We connected the red wire to the daytime running light circuit for the white halos and for

the yellow turn signal halo.

We will connect our yellow wire to the turn signal wire right here.

I'm gonna plug our daytime running bulb back in.

After you have plugged in your daytime running bulb, your installation is complete.

So if you were looking for an affordable way to update the headlights on your TJ or JK,

these Axial lights are a great option to check out.

This is Merideth with XT, and for everything Wrangler, keep it right here at extremeterrain.com.

Smart Wifi Light Switch Installation - Maxcio Review - Duration: 7:46.

Hey, so buying a bunch of smart bulbs to have smart lighting in your house can get

ridiculously expensive

But you still want to have a smart lighting in your house. Well, how about installing one?

Smart light switch that controls them all in this video. We're gonna look at the maxi

Oh smart wall light switch and see how it goes

Let's see the intro

Hey, what's up guys here at gross Tech our goal is to simplify?

smart home technology

Whether that's installation use or setup that is our goal to help you guys and this video is

Goes along right with it?

We're talking about smart

Lighting now does that mean that when you walk in a room the lights come on. Yes does that mean that you can say hey?

Smart voice assistant turn on my light yes, but more than that it means

Controlling everything automatically and to be able to set up schedules and everything like that, but with

Bulbs it can get so expensive

You have the lifx bulbs or the philips hue bulbs and they're close to 50 bucks a bulb I have

25

lightbulbs in this house

That's over a grand. That's ridiculous

I'm not gonna spend that much money to have smart lighting in my house and

That's what we're gonna look at today, we're gonna look at the Maxiell smart wall light switch now

There's other brands levitron

ecobee just came out with their new one, but this one was sent to us by Mac Co, it's

$25 I'll put a link in the

Description below that will take you to Amazon as well as the levitron and to the ecobee because they're all

There to help the idea and keep you from spending

thousands of dollars on light bulbs

Think about it

Every light switch controls either one or multiple light bulbs like this fan ceiling fan lights that we have here in this office

It's got four bulbs in it that means I would have to spend

$200 at least to just have smart lighting in here

And then I don't even have a switch to really control it I have to find my phone right to say hey

Somebody turn on my light or turn it off that can get annoying well

That's what we're gonna look at this Mac seals wall light switch, so let's look inside here. We've got the manual

We've got the switch itself, which is simple. We've got rocker switches here at home

Looks a lot like a rocker switch. It's just a button though

For wires now. This is where you need to make sure to see what you have in your wall as far as the wiring

Most if not all smart light switches need a neutral or a white wire

They have the ground your load, which is the wire that goes up to the light, and then your hot wire well?

But you also need the neutral wire so make sure before you buy anything make sure you've got that neutral wire

What else do we got in here? We've got a wall plate, which is nice to fit along and the mounting screws for it

So let's switch off the breaker

So we're safe here make sure before you do any of this if you're not an electrician

Don't do this if you're comfortable with electricity and you're comfortable switching this out

Hey, that's all on you not on me, so please be careful if you do decide to do that yourself

But let's bring it in and actually

install this

All right now one thing I did before I switch the breaker off. I figured out

What is my hot wire coming in from the panel and what is the load going to the?

Ceiling so make sure you figure that out

Before you turn the breaker off

Alright, so we got the breaker back on. Let's test it

turns light on

Turns it off alright turn that back on. We'll grab our

mounting screws and

Now that our smart light switch is installed and

operational

As you can see it turns it on and off with the actual switch, which is nice

You don't have to go find some smart device to turn your light on grab your phone

And you will want to go and get the smart life app now smart life

And the tire smart app are pretty much the same thing

I already have the tightest mark app installed for some outlets as well

So we're going to use that go ahead and open it up, but it'll look exactly the same here. We will want to add

Which is the plus button up in the top?

Now we want to do a wall switch

Now to make sure it's in

Blinking mode hold the button down for five seconds so now that the latest switch we want to confirm

rapidly go ahead and put your

Password in for your Wi-Fi, and it is connecting now

So now we're just gonna let it

Connect through the system all right so that device is added. I'm gonna rename this to the office

Lights

Save

dumb

Now and that's got a new firmware always make sure you update your firmware all right

We're gonna turn it on light comes on turn off and lights are off now

The cool thing that you can also do with this is you can

Have a timer you

Can set up timing as in times that this turns on and off automatically?

so now you can actually use your like I'm gonna use the Google assistant to do this by make sure your

You are linked with the tire smart or your smart life app is linked to your

Google home or your Amazon

echo and there you go now with everything installed on your phone and

Linked you can now control this with your voice with your phone

With the simple push of a button it all will work, and that's the point of smart lighting

It's not so much that it makes it difficult

And it's more difficult to use than the dumb alternative just the normal switch

But makes the ability to turn it off and on with every option. Hey, so thanks for watching again

My name's Josh with gross tech if you liked what you saw

Smash that like button if you didn't well. I mean they got a button down there for that too, but above all liking and subscribing

Most important to me is the comment section I mean

honestly

That's what I'm here for I'm here to help you guys learn how to install use and make smart home

simple but really to enjoy smart home technology

this is something that I

enjoy

And then love having around and I want you guys to have that same enjoyment out of it as well, so

Go ahead down there in the comments

I will read every single one of them if you've got questions if you've got problems if you've got tips or anything comment wise

Put them down there

I will read and answer every single one of them

But feel free to like and share this video as you see fit

My name is Josh, and I'll see you in the next video god bless

gross-out

Match Review : Liverpool 5-2 AS Roma - Duration: 3:42.

Liverpool B they ass Roma 5-2 at Anfield in the first leg of their Champions

League semi-final in a game which has fans both delighted and disappointed for

the huge tie Jurgen Klopp named the same sign that played both legs against

Manchester City with the incredible front 3 of Muhammad Salla Robert Firmino

and Satya main all starting up front once again Roma continued with the back

three of Kostas manless Federico physio and Juan Jesus that kept a clean sheet

in Rome against Barcelona earlier this month

unsurprisingly Muhammad Salla ran the show for the Reds scoring his 42nd and

43rd goals of an extraordinary debut season with Liverpool his first goal on

the night a beautifully curled effort into the top corner sent and filled into

seventh heaven his second was a delicate chip over the Unruh Shing Alison Becker

which has solidified comparisons with a certain Lionel Messi at 2-0 the Reds

were flying and went into the interval of confidence sky high main added a

third to settle any nerves in the second half and Jurgen Klopp side settled back

into their dominant rhythm moving the ball swiftly across the pitch midway

through the second half Salo capitalized on Roma fullback Fleur NZ's failure to

track back and ran at the Roma defense from the right wing before teeing up

Roberto Firmino for the fourth goal of the game fear Meno grabbed his second of

the game seven minutes later after poor defending from a corner allowed the

Brazilian to find the back of the net with a free header at 5-0 it looked as

though the Reds had all but booked their plane tickets to Kiev but once Jurgen

Klopp took Muhammad Salla off things seemed to fall apart even if the

Egyptians departure was not necessarily the reason for the concession a lapse in

concentration from Dejan lovren allowed Edin Dzeko to chest the ball in the box

before firing past Laura scariest to make it 5-2 before a harsh penalty

ensured that Roma will now go into the second

Legg with enough help to dream of a comeback like they did against Barcelona

while Liverpool fans might be disappointed about the two goals

conceded late at the end of the game nobody will be as upset as Alex

oxlade-chamberlain who was stretchered off in the first half with a serious

knee injury Jurgen Klopp told the media after the game look Slade's probably a

really bad injury if we can say that already before the scan that's never

good news so that means for us it's a massive blow of course

although the Englishman had to be subbed off early on

jeanny one album was subbed on for him and played superbly in that slightly

advanced midfield role that Chamberlain tends to occupy ahead of Jordan

Henderson and James Milner with a three goal advantage over Roma Liverpool have

one foot in the Champions League final and just need to focus on doing the

basics right at the Stadio Olimpico next week Jurgen Klopp will be looking to

rest as many of us starters this weekend to ensure his site has the best possible

chance of securing a victory in Rome and taking Liverpool to a Champions League

final for the first time in a decade

Jeep Wrangler Rugged Ridge Windshield Hinge Brackets - Black (2007-2018 JK) Review & Install - Duration: 4:13.

These Rugged Ridge Windshield Hinge Brackets in Black are for those of you that have a

2007 and up JK, that are looking to change up the look of your Jeep but don't want to

make any sort of permanent or major modifications to your factory pieces.

Of course, you could always pull your hinge covers off of your factory Jeep, hit them

with a temporary coating, or even a powder coat or a spray paint coating to change them

to black, but again, if you want to be able to go back to factory very easily, you can

swap in this set or, of course, if you have any sort of major damage to these pieces and

you're looking for a replacement, this is going to work for those of you as well.

Now, these are going to bolt directly in place.

They're practically a factory piece but they're going to be less expensive than going to Mopar

and trying to find a replacement.

These are going to be a very easy install, definitely a one out of three wrench bolt-on

installation and we'll talk a little bit more about that in just a second.

Overall, again, if you're looking to change the look of your Jeep or you need a replacement

because yours are missing or damaged, I think this is going to be a less expensive option

than going to Mopar and they're still going to fit perfectly.

As for construction, there's not too much to say about these.

These are going to be very similar to the factory windshield hinge covers.

These are a steel piece designed to fit directly onto your factory Jeep.

They are covered in a black powder-coat finish right out of the box so if you're looking

for that little bit of additional attitude, if you're looking to black out your Jeep or

you have a lot of black accents, these are going to work really well.

As for the install, again one out of three wrenches.

All you have to do is unbolt your factory set and bolt these up.

It shouldn't take you more than a half hour, probably closer to 15 minutes to do.

Today, we're going to be installing the Rugged Ridge Hinge Bracket.

They go right about here on the Jeep, we're going to replace this factory one.

The new one's going to be black.

Very simple installation.

Just removal of a few bolts, we're good to go.

We're going to being by removing the six T-40 Torx head bolts from the factory bracket.

The new kit comes with the new bracket and new hardware.

Now installation of your new brackets is just as easy as the removal of the old ones.

You're going to line the new bracket up into place, go ahead and just start your hardware

into the holes.

Now you can just go ahead and just tighten up your bolts.

Just repeat the process for the other side.

And that's your installation of your new windshield hinge brackets.

Quick, easy, anyone can do it.

This set of hinge covers from Rugged Ridge is going to run you right around $80 which

I do think is going to be a pretty fair price when you consider the alternative of going

directly to Mopar for a piece like this.

So whether you're looking to change up the look of your Jeep by changing your windshield

hinge covers to black or you need a replacement for some other reason, I think this is going

to be an option that fits really well and is fairly priced from Rugged Ridge that you

can find right here at extremeterrain.com.

💥SANSI LED SECURITY LIGHTS (18W) Motion Sensor OUTDOOR FLOODLIGHT Review 👈 - Duration: 6:20.

it's time to replace my old security light with a new one I have a

motion-activated ceramic LED security light from Sansi. This is the Sansi LED

18 watt ceramic security right it's equivalent to the brightness of a

150 watt incandescent light or 35 watt halogen sunlight it comes out in box

like this it comes with the installation pieces an instruction manual it features

the dual heads that are adjustable for LED bulbs and they're said to reduce

1800 lumens of brightness which is pretty great so this covers an area of

861 square feet when it's mounted at a height of 8 feet and it's set to light

an area 50 feet outwards it has dusted on photocell that

activates at night and powers off during the daylight now one of the best

features and one I'm really looking forward to replacing my old screwdriver

with this one is that the LED lights have a long lifespan 50,000 hours and

when you consider that especially when you use it as a when you use a

motion-activated it's only gone for a few minutes at a time so you know that's

in many years and the savings on electricity by using an 18 watt light to

replace the equivalent brightness incandescent or halogen light wood is

going to add up as well so the controls are here on the bottom of the sensor you

can adjust the distance of the sensor mode sensitivity and the time the light

stays on after the motion is detected for the motion since

auto-mode you move the pointer to 1 5 or 10-minute position now for the manual

override mode you and this is all in the instruction manual if you have this unit

but you move the pointer to 1 5 or 10 minutes flip the light switch on and off

for a second and then you switch it off and switch it on to toggle between auto

and manual so I'm gonna get this light installed should be pretty quick and

easy and see what it looks like on the side of the garage so there it is

installed over the garage door no problems with the installation it just

took a few minutes there was an existing light there so it was just switched out

and seems to be functioning properly so I'm gonna come out after dark and take a

look it's really dark out and I'm ready to test out the security light the

motion sensor light so I'm going to approach the garage

very bright

I have it set on like a medium sensitivity level for distance

so I'm gonna wait for it to go off and try it again

and I'm looking forward to not having so many bulbs burn out so quickly

so it's working well please check the description section below for more

information thanks for watching

Book Review || Chemistry - Duration: 8:07.

Hey Y'all!

My name is Priscilla and welcome back to my channel.

Today I wanted to do a book review of a book that I recently read.

And this book is Chemistry by Weike Wang.

This is a book that I read in both audio and e-book form.

So I really enjoyed it [but] I did have some problems with it that I want to discuss in

this review.

So let's go ahead and get started.

This is a contemporary fiction novel.

The author is Chinese and went to Harvard.

She got her undergraduate degree in chemistry.

She also got her Master's degree in public health from another prestigious university

in Boston.

So the author has obvious drawn from these experiences in writing this novel.

In this novel, our main character is an unnamed character who is pursuing her PhD from Chemistry

in a very prestigious university in the Boston area.

We find out very early on that our protagonist is struggling in her research.

She's just having a really difficult time.

So her stress is multifaceted with the torment that she experiences from her very pushy advisors,

from comparing herself to her peers who are obviously doing much better and are much more

successful than she is in her research, from her boyfriend who [has] this everything-is-awesome

kind of attitude about everything, and from the relentless expectations she has from her

Chinese parents.

So soon the protagonist comes to a crossroads and must decide whether or not this PhD program

is for her and whether she wants to continue to pursue it.

This was such an interesting book that was recently released by the way - In May 2017.

It is a bit over 200-ish pages so that is about like 4-ish hours on audio.

So it is a really quick read.

Both the audio and e-book were available to me so I kind of listened and read them simultaneously.

Now I will say that the writing style in this is sort of stream-of-consciousness.

So we are invited into this women's ever wandering mind.

Which is not always a nice place and her thoughts and ideas of life are not always pleasant

and not always warm and fuzzy.

We hear about her mundane life - her loving American boyfriend who she, for the life of

her, does not understand why he loves her.

And we know very early on that he wants to propose and she is hesitant to accept his

proposal and marry him.

She's not sure at all what she wants in life.

She also constantly includes the anecdotes of science in her everyday life.

She'll be looking out a window and she'll comment on the rays of light and how reflection

and refraction are showing the light to her and her eyes and how we are perceiving this,

as humans.

Or I should say how she is perceiving it as [a] human.

We hear about how she is a Chinese woman in a male dominated field in science and how

this dynamic plays a role in her stress in academia.

And she also struggles from depression and anxiety.

And she regularly attends therapy.

So for the good in this book.

Some may find that the style in writing is disjointed and whiny.

But I enjoyed the concise and insightful look into her life.

This is a woman that is very logical and linear in thinking.

I think that it is important to lift voices from women of color in academia and I wish

that this book had existed when I was pursuing my undergrad degree and my post-graduate degree.

I ended up getting my Master's...not in chemistry because of a lot of the stresses that this

character describes.

I did get my undergrad degree in biochemistry so I kind of related to a lot of the stories

she was talking about.

Like being in the lab and being so frustrated with your research because you're not getting

the results that you need.

And they're not up to par to what your advisors and your family expect.

Which I think is a different pressure on women of color than on other characters.

Because her boyfriend just does not seem to understand that she can't just tell her parents

that she's quitting her program.

Because you can't disappoint your parents like that.

There's another weight on you being a child of immigrants that have given up so much of

their lives for you...to just be mediocre.

It's unacceptable.

And her family moved from China to the U.S. when she was 5 years old.

So....and her father has a very successful career as an engineer.

So it's no wonder that they expect nothing short of excellence from her.

The narrator explains "Such progress he's made in 1 generation that to progress beyond

him, I feel as if I must leave America and colonize the moon."

I think this is the pressure that a lot of children of immigrants experience.

And I think that it is really easy to feel so isolated in academia.

And you're constantly comparing yourself to others.

And you feel helpless and hopeless many times.

And...the protagonist in this book really portrays that so wonderfully and so relatable.

I think that mental health is so important to discuss in education.

And her anxiety is a constant theme in this book.

So did I mention the science?

Like in this audio the narrator drops little, random deadpan voice trivia [about] chemistry.

There's scientific method throughout.

I was really reminded of Astrophysics for People in a Hurry by Neil DeGrasse Tyson.

So if you've read that very short book [of] science, you may know what I mean when she

just drops little trivia hints here and there and relates them to mundane life.

I really enjoy that.

I really like that.

So I can see why.....some people may not like that but I really enjoyed it.

So for the bad.

I've already mentioned the writing style in this book.

But I will say that the continual present tense in conjunction with Wang's pacing in

this can make some readers enjoy this a little less.

Many times she will discuss some event in her life.

Something that has just happened and then she'll shift to observations about refraction

of light, or bleaching of whales that wash up ashore, or some other mundane thing through

a chemist's lens that is kind of hard for people to enjoy and read.

Because it is literally...in the text it is just page breaks.

Just like segments here and there and it can really wear on the reader as the reader reads

on.

And in the end we really don't have much closure.

There's really no plot to this story.

It's just this mental health journey through life - trying to figure out what you want

and what this young woman wants.

Instead of having this formulaic, quantifiable plan, our reader has to accept that life is

full of uncertainty and indecision.

Part of me, because of this and the wearing of the writing style didn't know how to rate

this.

I struggled between anywhere between a 3 and 5 stars.

Which is a very new experience for me.

So I did view some other owned voices reviews of this book that I will make sure to link

below.

Both of those booktubers do like this, at least in part.

So, um, check out those reviews below for other perspectives.

So I think this is a bit of a polarizing read and I am very hesitant to recommend this to

anyone unless you have resonated with anything that I've said.

So in conclusion, I think that this was a great literary piece that juxtaposes the elegance

and intriguing nature of science with a struggling woman with depression.

That's all that I have for this review.

So I'll go ahead and end it there.

Hopefully this was a bit of a shorter review but that's all that I have.

I hope that you enjoyed this review.

If you've read this book or if you have any recommendations for me with more science-ish

kind of related literary books like this, please comment below.

I would love to hear from you.

But that's all that I have for you today.

So thank you so much for watching and I will catch you in the next video.

Bye!
