What size walk-in cooler do you need? If you're planning a draft beer system, I'll help

you with the design criteria to select the right walk-in cooler. Stay tuned!

First, a little background information is necessary in making any purchasing

decision. There are two types of walk-in coolers: prefabricated and built-to-order,

as you see here. This story is about the prefabricated variety, as shown in this photo.

This type of walk-in cooler consists of

urethane panels and is economical, easy to expand and relocate. The elements that

compose the walk-in cooler are the walls, floor, door and refrigeration system.

The walls, which range from 3 1/2" to 5" in thickness,

consist of insulation sandwiched between thin sheets of galvanized steel

or aluminum. As I mentioned in an earlier post (reference below) walk-in coolers

used for beer walls require special design and engineering. Many owners will

utilize a rack system to make more efficient use of the cube and in such

applications, a floor system is impractical. Refrigeration systems can be

mounted overhead, as seen here, or on a side panel, if the room has a low ceiling.

The door should have a self-closing mechanism, such as the one shown here,

in order to conserve energy. Walk-in coolers can be installed indoors and outdoors

and are offered by numerous companies in a wide-variety of quick-ship sizes, as

shown in this chart. Up next: Be careful how you use your walk-in cooler!

Draft beer requires that the temperature be carefully maintained between 36 and 38

degrees Fahrenheit and this is impossible to maintain when the door is

being constantly open and closed. Rising temperatures in walk-in coolers -- even

one or two degrees Fahrenheit, will result in

excessive foaming and lost profits. Therefore, cased beer should never be stored in the same

walk-in cooler as your draft beer. The size of a walk-in cooler is driven by

the amount of beer you sell and the number of brands. A small walk-in cooler

can be selected if a bar sells a moderate amount of draught beer. The bar

shown here is a system featuring 10 brands of draft beer. As with most bars,

it's important to carry at least three of the largest U.S. domestic beers, such as

Bud Light, Miller Lite and Coors. Therefore, in this example, that means we

have to accommodate space for seven craft beers. As shown in this chart, the

U.S. domestics are commonly sold in 1/2 barrels, which are 15.5 gallons,

and craft beers are most commonly sold in sixtels, which are 1/6 barrels and 5.16 gallons

and less commonly in slim 1/4 barrels, which

are 7.75 gallons. Barrels need to be stacked inside the

walk-in cooler, as shown in this photo. Half barrels are normally stacked in

racks and the craft beers are commonly stacked with a device known as a "keg

series spacer," such as the one manufactured by DeVault and featured by

many web retailers. The advantage of the keg series spacer is that it allows two

kegs of the same product to be connected to the glycol system. Getting back to our

example, I designed the walk-in cooler to have seven brands of sixtels along

one long wall -- double-stacked, four slim 1/4-barrels along the opposite wall --

double-stacked and three 1/2-barrels -- double-stacked on the end wall.

Each of the smaller barrels has a row of back-ups

in front of it, designated in red. This layout can be downloaded at the end of this article.

The capacity of this 6' x 8 ' walk-in cooler is: (21) sixtels, (12) slim

1/4-barrels and (6) 1/2-barrels. This means that a total of 14 brands can be

stored in this walk-in cooler. Of course, depending on the popularity of certain

products, that configuration could easily be changed.

How much down payment do I need when buying a house? - Duration: 1:44.

Welcome to Homebuyer's School

brought to you by Brookfield Residential

Today the question that we're going to ask is

"How much do I need for a down payment

for a new house in Canada?"

So Troy take it away.

So the minimum down payment is 5%

of the first $500,000

10% for any amount over $500,000

as long as the purchase price is under a million.

Is there a difference between a down payment

in specific provinces?

So let's say in Alberta, is it different

than in say, BC or Newfoundland?

There's no changes yet, there's rumors

of the government looking into that potentially down the road,

but as of right now the down payment requirements are the same regardless

of what area of the country you are in.

So the minimum across Canada then is

5% for the first $500,000, and 10% anything over, and then I think

anything over that?

Anything over a million dollars then requires at least 20% as a down payment.

Okay, anything else to add?

In some small areas, banks may require a higher down payment.

If it's very rural or very remote, but beyond that no.

Okay, well thank you very much for the information.

You're welcome.

How to take a meter reading - Duration: 2:23.

Taking energy meter readings sounds needless and complicated, but in fact

it's an important and simple way to understand your energy usage and get

accurate bills. If you don't take meter readings you'll get an estimated bill

this can lead to overpaying or under paying.

No-one likes to overpay, but underpaying sounds nice, right?

Don't be fooled! Your supplier will want their money...

Leaving you with a surprise bill down the line.

There are four main types of gas and electricity meters: single rate, dual rate, dial meters and

smart meters. Gas is measured in cubic meters or cubic feet, and electricity is

measured in kilowatt hours. Your meters may look a little confusing now but

we'll help you make sense of them. For single rate meters write down the

numbers from left to right - ignore any red numbers or numbers after the

decimal point. Dual rate meters are for those of you

on two energy rates for different times of the day. Write down the numbers from

left to right. Ignore any red numbers or numbers after the decimal point.

Some dual meters have a single display where you might have to press a button to

view each rate. Write down the numbers from left to right, press the button to

see the next reading and then write that down too. Dial meters have up to five dials.

Each with numbers 0 to 9. There may be a sixth dial on the right

sometimes in red or with one tenth next to it. Ignore this. Write down the numbers

the pointer has just passed from left to right. If the pointer lies exactly on any

number underline it. Now look at your five numbers for any that are underlined, look

at the number following it. If it's between nine and zero

reduce your underlined number by one. That's all there is to it! Send your

readings to your energy supply at least once every four months and your

bills will be spot on. Energy suppliers are now offering smart

meters for homes in England Scotland and Wales. These meters use in home displays

and send digital readings to your supplier. They give you more accurate

bills and a better understanding of your energy usage. All without taking your own

readings. Whether you continue reading your old meters or choose a smart meter

you've taken the first step towards accurate bills and understanding your

energy usage. Aren't you clever?

How to find the maximum backswing point of your horses shoulder (1) - Duration: 0:54.

As you know one of most important things for you to know is where is the back edge of your

horse's scapula and where is it going to travel.

To start with, to find the back edge of the scapula (which is this enormous mound that

needs to swing under the saddle), you need to know if you reach with your fingers, and

firmly enough to feel where the muscle drops off, you'll find a curve there.

That is the back edge of the scapula.

To give you just a little bit of an example, this is a prop, this prop is a small arabians

real scapula.

Flash's scapula would start here, and go to here.

A warmblood's scapula would be even larger but it's a huge structure that has to swing

under your saddle.

So start by knowing this.

Zayn Malik Reveals Just How Much He Talks to One Direction Today - Duration: 2:02.

Zayn Malik Reveals Just How Much He Talks to One Direction Today

Sometimes, boy bands just end up going in different directions. Its been almost two years since One Direction performed their final concert in the United States before their hiatus.

But fast-forward to today and each member including Zayn Malik is finding success with their very own solo careers.

While appearing on the cover of Billboard, Zayn couldnt help but address his current status with the boys who helped make 1D so successful. As it turns out, the PILLOWTALK singers relationship with the guys has evolved.

Our relationships have definitely changed since we were in a band together, but I think thats just life, he explained to the publication. Everybody grows up; two of the guys have got kids now.

But no, I dont talk to any of them, really..

Zayn would also admit that he no longer has any contact with Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Niall Horan or Louis Tomlinson. But according to Billboard,  Zayn said this without malice and doesnt appear to feel competitive with them.

As Zayn continues focusing on his solo career, the singer is still proud of his collaboration with Taylor Swift that was featured on the Fifty Shades Darker soundtrack. I felt like she was the right artist for the song.

And of course shes also a massive artist, so that brings its benefits, he explained.

I get to let her fans know that Im doing this kind of music, and she lets her fans know she likes my kind of music — theres no opposition, for real..

And for the loyal fans who are curious to see what Zayn is up to next, the musician has been spending much of this summer and fall on a working farm in rural Pennsylvania where a private studio is located nearby.

The farm is out of the way and feels grounded. I do a lot of farm work. I take the horses out and feed the cows and that kind of stuff, he shared. Ive always been interested in animals..

How Much Damage Can A Hydrogen Bomb Do? - Duration: 4:47.

Hello and welcome back to Life's Biggest Questions, I'm Ron McKenzie-Lefurgey.

Well, North Korea is at it again, this time claiming to have successfully tested a hydrogen

bomb that could be loaded onto an intercontinental ballistic missile, or ICBM.

If this is true, it's certainly a matter of concern for leaders around the world; with

nuclear weapons mounted on long-range missiles, North Korea becomes significantly more dangerous.

How much more?

Let's discuss.

Throw on your hazmat suit, it's time to answer the question: How much damage can a

hydrogen bomb do?

Hydrogen bombs, otherwise known as thermonuclear bombs, are incredibly powerful, much more

so than atomic nuclear weapons.

The first test of an h-bomb was done in the United States, which produced an explosion

the equivalent of 10,400 kilotonnes of TNT.

To put this in perspective, this is over 450 times more powerful than Fat Man, the bomb

dropped on Nagasaki in 1945.

Needless to say, Hydrogen bombs are a force to be reckoned with.

What makes Hydrogen bombs different from atomic bombs?

Well, while both involve a nuclear reaction, the reaction within is rather different.

Atomic bombs rely solely on nuclear fission, splitting one atom into two smaller ones to

create energy.

Hydrogen bombs, on the other hand, mainly utilize fusion to create power, merging multiple

atoms into a large one, similar to how stars form, with fission being used to set the reaction

off.

This allows for much more compact warheads, which in turn makes it easier to mount hydrogen

bombs onto ICBMs.

Since North Korea's biggest technological issue was finding a way to mount their nukes

onto ICBMs, this development makes it much more likely that they will find a way, and

suddenly have the capacity to launch nuclear weapons much greater distances.

Just how much damage can they do with these bombs?

Well, as stated earlier, some of the most powerful h-bombs have yielded tens of thousands

of kilottones.

The most powerful was the Tsar Bomba, an h-bomb made by the Soviets that yielded a whopping

50 megatons, or 50,000 kilotons, worth of TNT.

This would be enough to wipe whole cities off the map.

However, the bombs we're seeing out of North Korea are significantly less powerful than

these super destructive bombs.

In terms of this bomb in particular, there is a bit that we know.

North Korea has issued statements on it, but it should be noted that these must be taken

with heaping spoonfuls of salt; North Korea is known to have a bark worse than their bite.

It's claimed that their h-bomb produced roughly 100 kilotons, which is 10 times stronger

than the test from last year.

This is enough to create a fireball 1km in diameter, with a thermal radiation radius

of 3.9km.

If detonated in a major city, the death toll could reach the tens or even hundreds of thousands,

with just a single bomb.

North Korea also claims that this bomb has the capability to be detonated at high altitudes,

allowing it to be used to send out electromagnetic pulses, or EMPs, to take out power and communications

in a certain area.

If true, this could be used in conjunction with other weapons to incredible, and devastating,

effect.

Perhaps the most terrifying implication of this is that this is just the beginning.

Considering just how powerful hydrogen bombs can be, it's very possible that North Korea

could develop bombs that yield 10s of thousands of kilotons of power in the next decade.

Should this become a reality, it would be difficult for governments around the world

to ignore the threat from North Korea.

But one big question remains on everyone's minds: do they really have this stuff?

North Korea is rather well-known for their propaganda and liberal use of… alternative

facts.

The miniaturization of a nuclear warhead is something North Korea has been struggling

with for some time.

Considering how behind the times the country has been technologically, there's a rather

significant chance that this talk of a hydrogen bomb mounted on an ICBM is simply that; talk.

With Donald Trump, current president of the United States, launching threats and baiting

North Korea, it's certainly possible that this is just an empty threat on the part of

North Korea.

But nothing is certain, and with the safety of the world depending on it, assumptions

can be a dangerous thing.

So now we return to our question: How much damage can a hydrogen bomb do?

If we're looking throughout history and across the globe, things look rather dire.

Hydrogen bombs can deal absurd amounts of damage in a single blast; one well-aimed strike

could take out just about all of Manhattan.

However, North Korea doesn't have access to weapons of this magnitude, with all evidence

pointing to bombs that yield roughly 100 kilotonnes.

While that isn't enough to level a major city, the casualties would certainly be high,

possibly in the hundreds of thousands.

That is, if they even HAVE these weapons.

However, in the years to come, we will need to remain vigilant, in case technological

advances allow them to increase their power even further.

Thank you for watching life's Biggest Questions.

I hope this was interesting and informative, and perhaps led you to look into it further

on your own.

And heck, while you're down there, let me know what you think about North Korea.

Do they have these weapons, or are they just trying to fool us all?

I look forward to reading your thoughts.

the best of luck, on your quest for answers.
