How to Apply the 30-30-30-10 Rule of Revenue to Build a Profitable Business - Duration: 3:44.

Have you ever wondered how much you should be paying yourself

each and every month for running your business?

I've been helping a couple of my clients with their cash flow

to help set them up for success

to end off 2017 powerfully

and some of the clients are overpaying themselves

and some are underpaying themselves.

Well how do you know what the happy medium is?

It's a pretty straightforward equation.

You actually need to have a larger picture of what your numbers are.

You have revenue that comes into your business.

Let's just say one hundred dollars comes in.

You're overpaying yourself if you're taking that hundred out right away

because you've just made a hundred dollars.

Your business is the one who made the hundred dollars...not you.

Your payroll or your getting paid from your business

is an expense

that is a line item in your monthly budget.

So when a hundred dollars comes in,

what we want to be thinking is,

"What percent do we want to allocate to your salary?"

And if you pay yourself on a steady flow,

either maybe the 15th and 30th

or once a month,

or whatever works best for you and your family,

then you pay yourself that percentage

based on how much money comes in.

A really basic, easy equation if you really have no idea...

is to think about your business in terms of thirds.

30 percent goes into your government savings account,

if you will, or for your taxes.

That also gives you a little bit of a buffer for a rainy day fund

in case something comes up

because there's going to be unexpected costs that come up in your business.

So 30 percent is going to go there.

30 percent is going to go to your operating costs -

that's in running your business.

The software that you need,

any monthly expenses that you have,

any people who work for you.

It will help you understand how much you can afford to hire and outsource.

And then if you allocate yourself 30 percent of whatever comes in...

that leaves 10 percent.

What if you allocated that 10 percent to be your profit?

You see, so often I see people

wanting to pay themselves their profit...

but it doesn't work that way.

That means you're never going to be profitable.

There's never going to be anything left over.

A true profitable business has money left over at the end of the month

after all expenses have been paid...

including you!

So if you go 30-30-30-10

then that gives you a hundred percent of that hundred dollars.

30 dollars goes into your tax saving,

30 dollars goes into your operating fund,

30 dollars goes into your personal account

and 10 dollars sits as profit.

If you can run your business on a hundred dollars a month,

you can run it on 90 dollars a month

and you're not going to miss that 10 dollars.

But that allows you

to create and make and run a profitable business

which, as you and I all know, is one of our goals.

So allocate a percent of revenue

to what it is that you want to pay yourself.

A hundred dollars in is not a hundred dollars in your pocket

if you follow the really simple formula.

And listen, I know there's going to be differences

and everybody has their own individual situation,

but that just gives you

a very general way to allocate

the hundred dollars that comes in.

Think in your head - for every 100 that comes in...

I get 30 of it.

For every 1000 that comes in...

I get 300.

10,000...3000, etc.

It's just a great place to start

so you know that you're going to have enough money

to keep in business and your lights on.

Because you and I know how important your business is

and the impact that you're having in the world.

30-30-30-10!

Talk to you later!

Haute 1: Ebay: How Much Power Does Your Budget Have Over Your Style? - Duration: 9:15.

Hi-Lo dressing is not a salad dressing for bi-polar people.

Hi-Lo dressing means mixing high-end designer pieces with lower budget or mass market pieces.

Think of it as Marc Jacobs meets markdowns from Target, by mixing the two you can produce

stunning style results and many compliments.

Now the only question is, how do we get our hands on some designer pieces to make this

makeover happen?

This video series is called, "Haute Wheel", and we'll explore how to pull off high-end

dressing, and how to get the lowdown on low prices.

Get haute style for hot prices so we can begin sprinkling in designer pieces into our wardrobe.

Step right up folks and spin the wheel!

Hi-Lo can you go, Hi-Lo can you go.

So as I said before, Hi-Lo dressing is mixing high-end pieces with lower-end pieces.

So you see here, we have a skirt that is priced at $420.

Many people would consider that to be more of a high-end purchase, however, we've mixed

it with "what?!" this t-shirt from Target priced at $14.99.

You can see it makes a very stylish outfit, you will get tons of compliments, but we are

mixing the high-end with the lower-end to pull off this look.

Now again, many of us, we can't justify spending $420 on a skirt so we need to find a way to

get that price point a lot lower so we can actually do Hi-Lo dressing.

So this is where Haute Wheel comes in, where will the wheel land today?

You can see we have many options for securing deals to help us start sprinkling in these

designer pieces.

So let's see where will the wheel land today?

EBay, yes eBay that is where we're going to start our journey today, eBay.

So let me give you an idea of some deals that I have found on eBay.

So I was completely obsessed with these Stuart Weitzman boots, these pair of wedge over the

knee boots, absolutely gorgeous.

I found them much cheaper on eBay.

Also, although this isn't considered high-end pieces, a high-end piece I did find these

Zara motorcycle pants and was completely obsessed and had to go find them somewhere.

And when in doubt, go to eBay, somebody somewhere in the world had these and I was able to find

them.

I think these are actually shipped from Greece but I did manage to track them down because

they are gorgeous.

Okay, so how to use eBay.

For those of you who haven't used it before, this is a brief tutorial and I'm going to

show you how to actually shop on here so you can get some of those deals on some of those

designer pieces.

So if you have already shopped on eBay, you can just you know fast-forward through the

video.

Or maybe you shopped on eBay but maybe not for clothing or for shoes or accessories,

so this is a tutorial for you as well.

So you just go to eBay, eBay.com okay, and you're going to just type in the search bar

what you're looking for.

So if you're looking for designer pieces, I'm going to say "Jimmy Choo shoes".

Then, search results come up, they' look very similar to the ones shown here on the screen.

And so what I want to show you is some ways you can start to filter these results because

you will see there are many, many things that come up.

I think the results here are shown 10,905 results, that's way too many to go through.

We only care about ones that are our shoe size, so you can filter by your shoe size.

You can also, if you're looking for something that you just want to buy it right now, you

don't want to have to go through the process of bidding on an auction, you can just do

the "Buy It Now" if that's all you're interested in.

And lastly, you can filter by what kind of shoes, so if we were looking for boots you

can see over there on the left side of the screen that we can just filter for boots too.

So it helps to make it a lot easier to shop online and find exactly what you're looking

for, because it can be so overwhelming when you go on eBay.

So let's say we filtered for just the things we cared about okay?

So here we go, we've got shoes.

You know, some of you might be going "that's gross; I don't want to buy used clothing or

used shoes or accessories on eBay".

Perfectly fine, look here, you can filter for condition of the products.

So if you want something new with the box, you can filter for that, that means nobody

else's feet has been walking around in them all day long and it's like brand new.

So you can filter for that as well, okay?

So let's say you found these and you're completely obsessed, and you're like "okay, these are

it".

You can do "Buy It Now", see that option we filtered for that so that way it's just

like shopping at a store.

So if you're a little overwhelmed with "I don't know how to bid and do all the auctions

and all of that", you can just do "Buy It Now" option and look for those here.

The next thing you want to look at is there's a lot of fraud that happens on eBay, and what

I mean by fraud is I mean people say pieces are designer and they're not really.

So one of the other things you can look at is you may want to take a look at who the

seller is.

You can always click on there, look at the seller, look at what their ratings are, look

at the feedback they've gotten back from different people, and it'll help you to suss out if

the products are legit or not.

Another way to suss out if this is really Jimmy Choo shoes is you can take a look at

the pictures, take a look at the box, take a look at all that.

However, there are people that will produce these and make them look just like Jimmy Choo

shoes, meaning the box, with the bag, with everything.

But again, you want to look at feedback that the seller has gotten, so you can just scroll

down the screen and look at the feedback.

So those are things that I would look at to kind of see is this legit or not or are you

getting "fake" designer.

Sometimes people are perfectly fine with "fake" designer stuff and that's personal preference,

no judgment from me on that.

But I just wanted to point out some different ways so you can avoid that.

So here we go, let's make a Hi-Lo outfit.

So let's say you have scored some awesome Jimmy Choo shoes online at eBay, okay there's

your designer piece that's the "Hi" in the Hi-Lo.

Now, how do you go Lo?

Okay let's see; look at this awesome black dress, H&M $19.99.

Look at that, okay, and this dress I love this dress because almost anybody can wear

it the way that its cut it's very chic and very forgiving of almost any body shape right?

$19.99 at H&M and then you have the designer shoe, and then just some simple accessories;

some gold earrings, a gold ring, and a little, simple gold clutch and you are ready to go.

There you go, a Hi-Lo outfit using the designer piece you've secured for a lot less than what

most people pay for them right?

So this video series is all about introducing you to Hi-Lo dressings, helping you to secure

these designer pieces and to give you practice so you're more comfortable in actually going

to shop for these designer pieces.

So I have for you guys a scavenger hunt that you can go on using the resources that'll

be in this video series.

So the first one here, we've already gone on eBay right?

So let's get some practice in.

So for number one, you have to go on eBay and find a pair of shoes from one of the designers

listed below for under $250.

This is just to get you used to navigating eBay, using the filters, and finding deals

okay?

So you go download this scavenger hunt and you go "okay, I found a pair of Jimmy Choo

shoes for $243 on Ebay.com.

You've secured the first item in the scavenger hunt and maybe you actually come across something

you want to buy and Bam! you have a piece in your wardrobe that you can use for Hi-Lo

dressing.

Remember to download the scavenger hunt, just use the link below the video to download this

document.

As you can see, we have four other places I'm going to share with you on how to find

these deals so you can do Hi-Lo dressing.

Its lots of fun this scavenger hunt, it's basically just shopping, okay?

So there you are the very first resource to help us get some high-end pieces into our

wardrobe.

So that's it for this episode of Haute Wheel and where will the wheel land next?

Thank you for watching.

How to calculate down payment on a house - Duration: 2:13.

Welcome to Homebuyer's School

brought to you by Brookfield Residential

Hi everyone and welcome to another edition of Homebuyer's School.

Today I'm joined by Troy champ, Mortgage Advisor with Mortgage Tree.

And today the question we're gonna answer is,

"How to calculate or figure out a down payment on a house?"

So Troy, how would we do that?

So the min- you start with a minimum down payment. The minimum down payment is

5% of the first $500,000.

If your purchase price is over

$500,000, then it's 5% of the first

$500,000 and 10% for anything

over $500,000 up to a

a million dollars and if it's over

a million dollars then the minimum down

payment's at least 20%.

If you're selling your property and you

want to take that equity with you to the new property, then your down payment

would be the summation of your equity

in your existing house, plus any other cash

savings that you want to put towards the

new purchase, and so that's your total

down payment - so you divide that by your

purchase price and that gives you your

percentage down.

Okay, is there a specific number that you are trying to reach if you're reselling?

Yeah absolutely, so if it goes in blocks of five with insurers, so an

insurance is required if your down payment is under 20% down. Every

5% you put more down, the lower your insurance costs becomes. So if

you can get to 20% down, your mortgage is no longer required to be

insured, so you save those CMHC premiums.

And CMHC is a Canadian -

Canadian Mortgage Housing Corporation. It's part of the government, and there's

two other insurers - GE, same company that makes the fridges,

and Canada Guaranty.

Okay, and same kind of process to get the mortgage through them?

Yes exactly, same premium same process absolutely.

Awesome. Do you have anything else to add?

No I think that's it.

Awesome, well thank you very much Troy. Thank you very much everyone,

for joining us and we'll catch you next time.
