A Simple 24-Hour Challenge That Will Boost Your MTB Skills | DailyGroove 024 - Duration: 2:48.

Hey Groovers, Chris Carter here.

Welcome to the DailyGroove Vlog.

You're probably wondering why I'm walking

around my house with no mountain bike in sight.

Well there's a very good reason.

One of the best things you can do

for your mountain biking skills is get control

over your posture on the bike.

That starts with riding with your pelvis aligned

with your spine much as possible,

no matter whether you are climbing or descending,

on or off the saddle, or whatever.

And that's why the hip hinge is so important

and why you hear me talk about it so much.

By hinging at the hips,

instead of bending through your back,

you can align your pelvis with your spine

and be in control of your posture.

This naturally activates core stability,

which is the foundation of optimal movement.

This posture supercharges your pedal power, your movement,

your efficiency, your endurance

and your control in every way.

That's why I get so excited about it.

And it doesn't cost you anything.

It doesn't matter what bike you ride, your wheel size.

You can make this change.

This is something everybody can do to improve their skills.

The thing is though,

if you normally ride with a bit of a bend in your spine

it can be a bit of a challenge to train yourself out of

that back bend habit and into the hip hinge habit.

There are some great training programmes out there

that can help you learn this new habit,

but one of the greatest things you can do

for yourself is start incorporating a hip hinge

into everyday movements around the house and at your work.

This is easy to do,

and if you start bringing the hip hinge habit

into more of your life,

rather than just your life behind bars,

you'll form the habit faster,

and it will benefit you in so many more ways.

So do this!

Challenge yourself today

to see how many times you can hip hinge in a day

around your home and work,

and then make it a habit daily off and on the bike.

You'll start to notice that riding

in control of your posture,

especially when the trail gets tough,

is one of the key control skills you need,

to mountain bike better.

And it doesn't cost you a cent.

All it takes is a little bit of commitment and action.

I've given you the tip,

but it's worth nothing if you don't put it into action.

So, put it into action!

Start hip hinging everywhere you can.

who you know is a back bender, too.

How To Name A Business? - Duration: 6:30.

Hey, what's up?

John Sonmez here from simpleprogrammer.com.

Today, I'm going to be answering a question about how to name a business.

I've got some opinions on this.

Maybe some of them you haven't heard before.

This is from Karsey and Karsey says, "I'm working on anonymous messaging website, similar

to Sarahah.com.

I have it functional and nearly ready to launch.

However, I have an issue.

I cannot release it until I have a good name.

A good and pronounceable name will go a long way in helping the service spread quickly

and become widely used.

At this point, the name is the only important thing I'm lacking.

What tips do you have for people like me who get tripped up on naming things?

How important do you believe names are?"

Here's the thing.

I'll give you some history, some evidence from what actually exists here.

If you think about it, there's a lot of companies that have kind of weird names.

Really, the biggest companies usually have letters as their name.

You know, I'm thinking like HP, IBM.

I mean Apple is different as an apple, okay?

Let's look at like—Google is a weird name.

Facebook is also kind of a strange name when you think about it.

Twitter is a weird name.

You know, I'm thinking about like just big companies that have spread virally, spread

and had names.

The only one that I'm really thinking of right now that had a name that really connected

with what it is is Dropbox, if you think about it.

Dropbox.

It's a drop box.

When you think about naming, I would say though—but what all those names have in common is that

they're very easy to pronounce, somewhat you already hit on and they're easy to remember

or spell and they're fairly short.

As far as naming—again, I don't think naming is super important.

I don't think it's super, super important.

I just think it's important to avoid the pitfalls.

There's a lot of companies that have names that are just kind of made-up names and sometimes

that might be the best thing.

This is something to consider as well.

There's several companies that had the name ISIS because Isis, the Greek god and then

ISIS happened.

They're regretting that name pretty hard right now.

It's bad for them, right?

It's not good.

If you pick a name that's a common name or even an uncommon name but is an actual meaningful

name, someone else can always take over your name and give you bad publicity.

There's definitely that or it can be confused.

My recommendation, honestly, would be either to pick something that's very, very straightforward

like Dropbox that simply explains what your business does because there's some value in

that or to pick some obscure thing.

I named one of my—I'm not going to give the name, but I named one of my LLCs that

I created for one of my companies and I just picked two random words.

I think I did some videos for a company called Pluralsight which you could check out here.

I did 55 courses for them.

If you haven't signed up by the way, sign up for Pluralsight.

Trust me.

It will be the best 30 hours a month that you spend.

I know I'm biased but it really will be.

That company, they just picked two verbs.

I think like plural—or they picked a noun and a verb.

I can't remember exactly what it was or it's two nouns.

Whatever the hell.

I'm not a grammatical expert, but I do know, basic English.

Anyway, they picked two words, two nonsense words and combined them together and they

came up with Pluralsight, and they became a pretty good company, a pretty big company

by doing that.

My point is this, is essentially, just don't make the big mistakes.

Just don't pick something that's unpronounceable, something that represents something else that

would be bad or that would be likely to—that you're going to be competing with someone

for the same name.

You want to have some branding around it.

Keep it nice and short.

If you can make it, say exactly what you do.

I think there's a benefit to that, except that what if you change your business.

You know better than me if you're going to change your business or not.

I mean, well, maybe don't.

Maybe you do, maybe you don't.

The thing is just make it easy to pronounce and something that you like.

Honestly, even like Simple Programmer, the name of this business.

It doesn't roll off your tongue necessarily.

It seems so natural to me.

SP, Simple Programmer, because I've been using it for so long and everyone who follows this

channel has been following Simple Programmer.

It just seems like a natural name, but to the first person—first time someone hears

it, they might think it sounds a little bit awkward and what does that actually mean.

Once you get associated with the brand, it doesn't matter.

There's a ton of companies and names out there that are really weird, and Google is a best

example.

It's just weird.

It's just a weird name, but it just seems normal to you now.

If you do build a brand and you do establish stuff, and you do have success, the name won't

matter that much as long as it's pronounceable, probably easy to spell if it's—you want

to type in a website.

Don't let that stop you.

Just pick something.

Even if it's two random words and go with it and launch your thing because chances are

you're going to have to do this a lot.

If you're going to be an entrepreneur, I'll tell you.

Whatever you're building right now is probably going to fail.

I'm not pessimistic at all.

I'm super optimistic, but I'm just saying like count on taking 10 swings.

Count on taking 10 swings.

If you're going to let this stop you right now and stall you out from picking a name,

you need to get on.

You need to like either let this one fail or succeed and move on to your next one, so

that you can find the successful one.

Don't get hung up on the name.

The name is not going to be—if it does fail, the name doesn't matter.

It doesn't even matter.

Who cares with that name with something that failed.

Most business ventures fail.

Again, I'm not trying to be pessimistic.

I'm not.

I'm super optimistic, but I'm just saying don't let this stop you.

All right, I hope that's helpful advice.

I don't know.

This is my opinion on this.

I have no expertise in naming things.

It's just my opinion, but yeah.

All right.

That's all I've got for you.

If you have an email or question for me, you can email me at john@simpleprogrammer.com.

I'm getting kind of tired that's why I'm tripping up here.

I don't know my English.

Don't forget to click the Subscribe button below and click the bell so you don't miss

any videos.

I'll talk to you next time.

Take care.

We need two cards.

And a small coin.

Make a half Circle on one side of the card using the coin by tracing it with pencil.

then cut it.

Cover the 1/3 right side of the card with glue or double sided tape.

Make sure to glue 1/3 of the card only and not the whole card.

Then stick the top card.

Make sure that it's perfectly aligned.

Then glue the small piece on the card under the top card.

It's simple: Ohio State missed the Playoff because it lost one too many games - Ohio State News - Duration: 20:55.

It's simple: Ohio State missed the Playoff because it lost one too many games - Ohio State News

Because of a second loss, Ohio State plays USC in the Cotton Bowl instead of Clemson in the Playoff. By Richard Johnson and Alex Kirshner.

In the final College Football Playoff ranking of 2017, Alabama was No. 4 and Ohio State was No.

5, meaning the Tide are in the Sugar Bowl Playoff semifinal against Clemson on New Year's Day and the Buckeyes are in the Cotton Bowl on Dec.

The Playoff debate can go down a very deep rabbit hole including advanced metrics and enough slicing and dicing of resumes to last a lifetime, and it could incorporate conspiracy theories about ESPN not wanting Ohio State's massive brand in the Playoff.

To the committee, the decision came down to one crucial difference between the teams:. Ohio State: two losses.

The committee doesn't see the Ohio State-Alabama debate like much of the viewing public did. Most of us regarded the battle for No. 4 as a contentious debate that hairs had to be split over.

That is not the way the committee saw things, based on what chairman Kirby Hocutt said to ESPN's Rece Davis when the field was announced on Dec.

Bama was "unequivocally better" in the eyes of the committee, according to Hocutt: "Alabama was clearly the No. 4 team in the country as a non-champion.". These are the committee's guidelines (emphasis ours):.

The committee will select the teams using a process that distinguishes among otherwise comparable teams by considering:. * Conference championships won. * Strength of schedule.

* Comparative outcomes of common opponents (without incenting margin of victory), and. * Other relevant factors such as key injuries that may have affected a team's performance during the season or likely will affect its postseason performance.

The phrase "otherwise comparable teams" looms large. While we all compared Ohio State and Alabama as relative equals, the committee didnt feel it needed to go that far. And the most glaring difference between the two teams was in the loss column.

Ohio State lost two games by a total of 46 points, one to Oklahoma and one to a 7-5 Iowa. Alabama lost one by 12, to Auburn.

"It was impressive," Hocutt said of Ohio State's resume. "But it wasn't enough for the selection committee to place them over Alabama. The selection committee has continued to be impressed with Alabama's performance on the field.".

No matter what you think about Ohio State, the Buckeyes were basically in the same predicament as Penn State last year. Last season, Washington, Ohio State, and Penn State were vying for two Playoff spots. One-loss Ohio State got in at No.

3, and one-loss Washington got in at No. 4, while a Penn State team that had beaten Ohio State in the regular season and won the Big Ten sat at No. Why? Penn State had two losses.

Similar to the year prior, Hocutt called Ohio State's second loss "damaging," and despite a conference title, two bad losses were again too much for a solid resume and conference title to overcome.

Ohio State had made the Playoff twice before as a special case, but not this time.

In 2014, the Playoff's first year, the Buckeyes were No. 5 heading into conference championship weekend. They jumped over TCU after thrashing Wisconsin in the Big Ten Championship. Why?.

That Wisconsin win was such a blowout, at 59-0, that the committee had to take extra notice. The Buckeyes rammed the gates open.

The Big 12 didn't have a championship game at that point, so one-loss teams TCU and Baylor didn't have a 13th chance to prove their cases.

In theory, one of those teams would've had to win such a game, and with TCU entering at No. 3, the winner could've stayed ahead of Ohio State.

In 2016, one-loss Ohio State became the first non-conference champion to make the field. (Alabama this year became the second.) Why?. The other team in the debate, Penn State, had two losses.

Had the 2017 debate been more complicated than OSU's number of losses, it would've been really close. How the two teams ranked nationally in various advanced stats:.

Ohio State's stronger strength of schedule ranking (that one's per Bill Connelly's numbers, though there are endless SOS rankings out there) jumps out, but notice SB Nation's Resume S&P+ and ESPN's Strength of Record as well.

Those both say Alabama did a better job against its schedule than Ohio State did against its own schedule.

Ohio State was 3-1 against teams ranked in the committee's final top 25, had marquee wins against Penn State and Wisconsin, and had a good one against Michigan State.

Alabama was 2-1 against ranked teams and didn't have any wins better than No. That's a Playoff criterion that could've helped OSU, though not enough. Bama was 7-1 against. 500-plus FBS opponents, while Ohio State was 5-2.

There was one other case for OSU, made by the Big Ten's commissioner.

The Big Ten plays a nine-game conference schedule, while the SEC plays eight. So Ohio State had a more difficult road than Alabama did, made harder by scheduling Oklahoma as one of those non-league games.

"You could look at it as Ohio State's [10th] (conference) game," Delany said of the conference title game, via the Chicago Tribune.

"They could have played an FCS opponent, just like Penn State could have played an FCS opponent instead of Pitt last season. Whenever you go challenge yourself, over time, you won't win as many as when you don't challenge yourselves.".

He added that conference championships, and strength of schedule, both things that the committee looks at when evaluating teams, should work in the Big Ten's favor.

"We had the most FBS wins; we had the fewest FCS games," Delany added via the newspaper. "We challenged ourselves in every way.

I think our efforts to play more conference games, to schedule up to a reasonable degree, to reduce the number of mismatches should serve us well.".

All of these points were just window dressing. The problem was that Ohio State lost too many football games.

We still end up with some great games, though. USC is an old Rose Bowl rivalry that features a ton of talent, while Alabama vs. Clemson Round III is a great matchup, this time with a whole new Tigers QB.

Cotton Bowl: Ohio State marks final measuring stick for USC in bowl game. Joey Kaufman | Orange County Register. ARLINGTON, Texas -- There was disappointment at stages of USCs season.

After national championship buzz swirled around the program during the summer months, the Trojans were hobbled by uneven play early in the season and fell out of serious playoff contention by Halloween. Some observers noted a slew of injuries.

Others pointed to the few signs of progress and little incremental improvement.

But the second half of the season commenced a turnaround by the Trojans, who won their final five games en route to a Pac-12 championship, their first conference crown in almost a decade and a fulfilling finish.

Ive seen people talking about this as one of the worst seasons, it doesnt feel like weve done this, done that, but we did, safety Chris Hawkins said.

Their final tilt, Friday night against Big Ten champion Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl, marking a traditional Pac-12-Big Ten matchup, might ultimately serve as another measuring stick. Its our Super Bowl, Trojans coach Clay Helton said.

Though schedules have been expanded throughout major college football, a victory Friday would give USC 12 wins in a season for only the seventh time in school history.

It would also come against fifth-ranked Ohio State, as successful as any program in the nation this decade and an annual playoff contender. Despite prior accomplishments, a loss would leave them with a sour taste and some feeling of disappointment.

Theres always more to prove, tight end Tyler Petite said. Theres always someone thats going to say, Oh, the Pac-12 was soft this year, you guys didnt win by enough, whatever..

The Buckeyes, who narrowly missed the College Football Playoff, are the highest ranked team the eighth-ranked Trojans have faced this season, a clear-cut barometer.

It is a situation that parallels last season, when USC met playoff-snubbed Penn State in the Rose Bowl and upended the Big Ten champions in the final minutes.

The Trojans used the game as a springboard, finishing at No. 3 in the final Associated Press poll, the highest-ever finish for a three-loss team, and Helton said the momentum from the win propelled them into the offseason.

It gave their season a more enduring memory, as could another New Years Six bowl win. At end of the day, for our team, Petite said, we want to win this game to show everybody that were the real deal.

WHEN USC HAS THE BALL. Sam Darnold, the redshirt sophomore quarterback, could be playing in his final game for the Trojans. Darnold said he has not reached a decision about his future, but he is eligible to enter the NFL Draft.

Darnold delivered a signature performance in last seasons Rose Bowl win, and he has since established a reputation for giving some of his best efforts in USCs biggest games. His passer rating against ranked teams was fourth in the nation this season.

Every time that Sams had that opportunity, when its been the bright lights on the brightest stage, hes accomplished it, Helton said.

Darnolds best game this season was in a big moment, against Stanford in the Pac-12 Conference title game, when he threw for 325 yards and two touchdowns without an interception. His 13.5 yards per pass attempt was a career-best.

I see a streaky player, and I say that with a lot of respect, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer said. Once he gets on, thats the job of the defense: not to let him get on..

After a tough September stretch that saw him throw eight interceptions in five games, Darnold has hit his stride, posting a 17-to-4 interception ratio, boosted by the development of underclassman receivers Michael Pittman Jr.

He doesnt panic often, and hes always looking downfield, Ohio State defensive end Nick Bosa said.

Expect an attempt to pressure Darnold, led by Bosa, the younger brother of Chargers defensive end Joey Bosa who leads the Buckeyes with seven sacks, followed by defensive tackle Tyquan Lewis, who has six sacks, part of a defensive line that rotates as if it was a hockey line.

If you give him time, with the receivers they have, you wont stop him, Meyer said.

To ease the burden off Darnold, the Trojans lean on running back Ronald Jones, who rushed for 140 yards and two touchdowns on a career-high 30 carries in the Pac-12 title game. WHEN OHIO STATE HAS THE BALL.

The presence of J.T. Barrett might make things tough on USCs defense, which has had trouble with dual-threat quarterbacks this season, including Arizonas Khalil Tate and Notre Dames Brandon Wimbush. Along with throwing for 2,939 yards, Barrett also ran for 732 yards.

Thats pretty darn special, Helton said. But the senior signal caller is also one of the most experienced players the Trojans have faced, able to alter play calls at the line of scrimmage.

When they call his number, Ive seen defenses try to stop that, and hell audible to another player, said Hawkins, the Trojans senior safety. Hes been here a long time. He knows exactly what hes doing..

USC players pointed to a need to prevent Barrett from running past the edge of their defensive line. Once he breaks the pocket, you know, then you start to get worried a little bit, Hawkins said.

The Buckeyes most often rely on their ground game, using running plays 57 percent of the time this season, led by the rest of their backfield.

Defensive coordinator Clancy Pendergast said the Buckeyes mirror a previous opponent, Texas, coached by former Buckeyes offensive coordinator Tom.

Ohio State freshman running back J.K. Dobbins has rushed for 1,364 yards and seven touchdowns, while Mike Weber added 608 yards with 10 touchdowns.

The Trojans can bring pressure, compiling 43 sacks this season, second most in the nation, but also have allowed plenty of yards and big plays. They ranked 77th in total defense, allowing 405 yards per game.

Their secondary might be without cornerback Jack Jones, who is considered a game-time decision because of an ankle injury suffered in the Pac-12 title game.

Jones has allowed his share of touchdowns, but also intercepted a team-high four passes, among 24 turnovers the defense has forced.

Prevent diabetes with simple changes to cooking methods ⚫healthcare☑️ - Duration: 4:10.

It turns out that food preparation and cooking methods play a major role in how healthy food

is for you.

Foods that are minimally processed or cooked help to prevent diabetes and lower glucose,

control weight and promote longevity.

By contrast, studies have shown that foods cooked or processed at high temperatures cause

the release of harmful advanced glycation end products and mutagens.

Prevent diabetes: Why heavily-cooked or heat-processed foods should be minimized.

Generally speaking, cooking (at high temperatures) will tend to create glycation end products

(AGEs) – which cause tissues to lose their functioning and age prematurely.

These cellular changes damage the DNA and increase the risk of cancer.

Specifically, heat processed and broiled meats tend to be the highest in glycation end products,

with very toxic levels of these substances.

However, pan frying shows levels in the toxic range as well, followed by grilling, which

causes elevated levels of glycation end products.

Remember, higher mutagen levels are associated with higher levels of glycation end products.

Science links glycation end products to cancer and diabetes.

Recently, studies have linked glycation from cooked meats with chronic inflammation and

a sharply higher risk of breast and prostate cancers.

When foods are heated over 300 degrees, chemical changes occur that cause cellular damage.

Men who eat just 1.5 or more servings of cooked or grilled meat per week have a 50 percent

higher risk of prostate cancer.

Conversely, a study of diabetics who consumed a diet of foods cooked at low temperatures

lost more weight than those who consumed identical calories, fats, carbohydrates and proteins

cooked at higher temperatures.

The low-temperature group also experienced reductions in their blood glucose and LDL

cholesterol numbers.

Cooking methods are a key to health and can prevent diabetes.

Avoiding heat processed foods and meat cooked at high temperatures reduces harmful advanced

glycation end products and also prevents DNA-mutating toxins and carcinogens from forming.

Discovering a healthier way to prepare meals.

With overheated food now associated with cancer, diabetes and accelerated aging, it's crucial

to pay attention to food preparation and cooking methods used.

While the data supports a raw food diet as the ideal choice, there are other ways to

help mitigate the harmful effects of glycation on internal proteins from cooked food.

Eating raw vegetables and fruits more often is an obvious step, but cooking foods more

lightly can help as well.

Steamed fish, chicken, vegetables and legumes are much healthier, as are minimally processed

whole grains and raw dairy products.

The health benefits of steaming, boiling, poaching and marinating foods.

Besides steaming, cooking methods like stewing, poaching and boiling can help with reducing

the formation advanced glycation end products.

For example, boiled chicken has at least an 80 percent lower level of AGEs than broiled

chicken.

Soaking foods in acidic marinades before cooking can help with inhibiting AGE formation as

well.

Marinades based on vinegar and/or citrus fruits with added seasonings are also an excellent

way to enhance the flavor of meats before cooking.
