News on Youtube Feb 5 2018

Welcome viewers, in this video we will see how to use google to effectively find already

published books that are in the public domain.

There are a number of different search techniques you can use in Google to find public domain

books which can also be repurposed, illustrated further, annotated, or translated to be published

on Kindle.

Especially with search parameters and prefixes like 'site' or double quotes, we can refine

and find what we are looking for with more ease.

You can append whatever topic you're looking for, either in front or following the words

or phrase in double quotes.

For example: SHAKESPEARE "public domain".

or Benjamin Franklin "public domain".

Remember that Double quotes should be used around these words or phrases in order to

get us more accurate search results.

I have used this following search parameter in Google

with the site prefix and then .gov

and then public domain in double quotes and then Thomas Jefferson articles

and with that I found this article

over here, about this collection

and then landed up over here where

I can find the draft version of the declaration of the U.S. independence.

just for example. So clicking here

would give me the draft version of the American Independence document

with some corrections in it

This is one of the examples I could show

for public domain that is available online.

You could use similar such search parameters

and you can just improvize with your own by looking into more such parameters or prefixes from Google

There are other resources from Google like the Google Scholar website where we can further

refine our searches using their advanced search options to find scholarly articles that are

in the public domain.

Let me show you a demo of how to search that.

Go to Google Scholar, and click on this hamburger icon to open its menu on the left side of

the screen.

click on Advanced Search Type in the keywords or search words or phrases

in your chosen topic and in the last date field here, type 1923

which implies that we are looking for all works published before January 1, 1923, are

in the public domain.

This rule is for United States and might vary for other countries.

Hit on search.

Now you can find a lot of public domain works.

Just make sure you don't go behind

the popular ones like the Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin

which have been published so many times on the Kindle store.

You could go for something less-known or more unique

where you can add more value to the

book by adding illustrations, translations or your own annotations

from the book or from history

You could also use these search filters

Thanks for watching!

Rose McGowan gets into shouting match with transgender woman, cancels all public appearances

Actress and activist Rose McGowan has canceled all upcoming public appearances after getting into an argument with a transgender woman at a New York City bookstore earlier this week.

McGowan tweeted Friday she canceled appearances because she has "given enough" and was "verbally assaulted" by someone she claimed was a paid actor.

The former "Charmed" star was at a Barnes & Noble in Union Square promoting her memoir "Brave" when a transgender woman, Andi Dier, asked about controversial comments she made during a podcast in July, the Daily News reported.

While speaking with drag queen RuPaul on his podcast "What's the Tee," McGowan said transgender women "hadn't developed as women.

"That's not growing as a woman, that's not living in this world as a woman," McGowan said, "and a lot of the stuff I hear trans complaining about, yeah, welcome to the world.

Dier argued transgender women are victims of sexual assault as well.

Trans women are dying and you said that we, as trans women, are not like regular women.

We get raped more often.

We go through domestic violence more often.

There was a trans woman killed here a few blocks (away)," she yelled at the actress.

The explosive argument captured McGowan demanding Dier sit down and not "label" her.

"Don't label me, sister.

Don't put your labels on me.

Don't you f---ing do that," McGowan said.

Dier was escorted out of the bookstore, but McGowan was not finished.

The actress continued to argue, according to video taken of the exchange.

"I'm not worried, I'm f---ing mad with the lies," McGowan said.

"I'm mad that you put s--- on me because I have a f---ing vagina and I'm white or I'm black or I'm yellow or I'm purple.

F--- off! All of us want to say it.

I just do!".

McGowan, 44, is one of the most vocal actresses speaking out against disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.

She has claimed Weinstein raped her in 1997 – he has denied the allegations.

The day of the book tour argument, McGowan sat with journalist Ronan Farrow and revealed she was raped by "another prominent" Hollywood man, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

This man picked me up when I was 15 years old, she said.

He took me home after he met me and he showed me a soft porn movie he had made for Showtime, under a different name.

And then he had sex with me..

How To Improve Communication Skill - Talk To Anyone - Improve Your Public and Private Speaking - Duration: 3:59.

There is so much to know about conversation that anyone could ever realize.

You can go through watching talk shows; radio programs; clubs dedicated to public speaking;

ordinary conversations; certain rules still apply when it comes to interaction with words.

It may sound tedious, I know, but even though it's your mouth that's doing the work, your

brain works twice as hard to churn out a lot of things you know.

So what better way to start learning to be an effective communication is to know the

very person closest to you: yourself.

1.

What you know.

Education is all about learning the basics, but to be an effective speaker is to practice

what you've learned.

My stint as a guest at every Toastmasters' meeting I go to teach me that we all have

our limitations, but that doesn't mean we can't learn to keep up and share what we know.

2.

Listening.

It's just as important as asking questions.

Sometimes listening to the sound of our own voice can teach us to be a little bit confident

with ourselves and to say the things we believe in with conviction.

3.

Humility We all make mistakes, and sometimes we tend

to slur our words, stutter, and probably mispronounce certain words even though we know what it

means, but rarely use it only to impress listeners.

So in a group, don't be afraid to ask if you're saying the right word properly and if they're

unsure about it then make a joke out of it.

I promise you it'll make everyone laugh and you can get away with it as well.

4.

Eye Contact There's a lot to say when it comes to directing

your attention to your audience with an eye-catching gaze.

It's important that you keep your focus when talking to a large group in a meeting or a

gathering, even though he or she may be gorgeous.

5.

Kidding around A little bit of humour can do wonders to lift

the tension, or worse boredom when making your speech.

That way, you'll get the attention of the majority of the crowd and they'll feel that

you're just as approachable, and as human to those who listen.

6.

Be like the rest of them Interaction is all about mingling with other

people.

You'll get a lot of ideas, as well as knowing what people make them as they are.

7.

Me, Myself, and I Admit it, there are times you sing to yourself

in the shower.

I know I do!

Listening to the sound of your own voice while you practice your speech in front of a mirror

can help correct the stress areas of your pitch.

And while you're at it you can spruce up as well.

8.

With a smile A smile says it all much like eye contact.

There's no point on grimacing or frowning in a meeting or a gathering unless it's awake.

You can better express what you're saying when you smile.

9.

A Role Model There must be at least one or two people in

your life you have listened to when they're at a public gathering or maybe at church.

Sure they read their lines, but taking a mental note of how they emphasize what they say can

help you once you take centre stage.

10.

Preparation Make the best out of preparation rather than

just scribbling notes and often in a hurried panic.

Some people like to write things down on index cards, while other resort to being a little

more silly as they look at their notes written on the palm of their hand (not for clammy

hands, please).

Just be comfortable with what you know since you enjoy your work.

And that about wraps it up.

These suggestions are rather amateurish in edgewise, but I've learned to empower myself

when it comes to public or private speaking and it never hurts to be with people to listen

how they make conversations and meetings far more enjoyable as well as educational.
