Ryerson University in Toronto is bordered by Yonge Street and its campus and students play an active role in the life of the street.

The city will soon have a golden opportunity to rethink downtown Yonge Street's public realm as the infrastructure beneath

the street is in need of upgrading.

Seeking to understand the benefits of a redesigned Yonge to Ryerson, and support the university's

participation in the process, the Ryerson City Building Institute partnered with Dr. Zhixi Zhuang to produce a case study analysis.

Ryerson is located in the heart of downtown Toronto. Its students, staff and faculty

are woven into the urban fabric. It makes for a great place to take our studies out onto the street.

Its placement right downtown without borders around the campus means it has a real impact on the public realm.

Yonge Street is a central spine through downtown Toronto, as well as Ryerson University. Redesigning Yonge Street

into a people-friendly space reflects

how most people are choosing to access the area: by foot, transit, and bicycle. We found that [street redesigns] offer

universities many benefits, for example: improved safety and street life,

healthier environments, better mobility options, increased opportunities for inclusion

deepened campus and city integration, and stronger institutional identities.

Our study demonstrated that the redesign of Yonge Street

offers Ryerson an incredible opportunity to shape the city and shape the campus.

Why The Vancouver Public Library Is Awesome - Duration: 4:05.

What's up guys David here today, I'm gonna be showing you the Vancouver Public Library, but David libraries aren't really my thing

I can relate but I ask you to withhold judgment until you finish watching this video now come with me as I take you to

The roof of a library which was just recently open to the public on the day that we went there

Just so happened to be a four day book sale happening prices were

Ridiculously cheap fifty cents for a paperback and $2.00 for a hardcover and all the prices were cut in half on the last day

I'm always looking for good reading material

So guys leave me a comment below telling me the last good book you read, but that's not why we're here

We're heading to the roof and we're making our way inside as we enter we go onto the second floor

There's also a set of steps that lease down to the first floor

Which is the children's area if you have kids the second floor has DVDs and blu-rays you can borrow the newest books and a section

For teens as well as throughout the entire library

There are computers you can use to check the location of a book and next to the entrance is the book checkout

and for the sake of this video

We're gonna take the stairs because the elevator would make this a really short video

And now this is the really amazing thing guys inspiration lab

It opened about three years ago in the library and it's free sound booth. These things are professional sound booths with professional equipment inside

It's all free to use you. Just have to book a time

They also have a computer lab that's specially meant for editing and videos and all that stuff. It's all free with membership, which is free

Well now you might be thinking what's on floor for like a chocolate fountain or like personal massages or well actually no it's very much

Like a library and it's actually very boring

We'll just move on to floor five which is slightly more interesting because it's got these magazine stacks

So if you just want to chill read like a paper version of a blog you can check out what the draft preview is happening

Or you can be like hey who are the next future 50 or what's this hunk up to?

They also have these big old things that I've never actually used but I've seen them in the movies and they seem like giant magnifiers

For print and as we make our way up to the sixth floor, we'll notice a little Stanley tribute rest in peace Stan

Now for six is just a lot of books books everywhere rows and rows of books

But it also starts to offer some really cool views look we can see the people down to the book sale

This is also one of the few places left in the city that offers public pay phones

So if you need to make a call and you don't have a phone you can always come here

The entire building is excuse my language ranking. Awesome if you like architecture, you'll love this place

You can look at see down onto the other floors. How cool is that?

But let's keep going because we're almost at the roof floor seven has a lot of historical information in there Special Collections

But we have to make an appointment to get in there

Floor 8 has a current exhibit and now exhibits change every couple of months

There's also a massive double staircase in the center of floor 8 that'll take you up to floor 9

Which is where you will find the rooftop gardens now to get outside

All you got to do is wave your hand in front of this sensor

and then you can step outside and take a nice big breath of fresh air the

Rooftop is open as long as the library is so you can spend as much time as you want up there

The rooftop garden

consists of three areas the main patio area which is where we entered on to and the south side which has more

tables and chairs to relax at and it faces out towards Homer and Robson Street and

On the north side is a very similar setup to the other South Side with tables and chairs

But this overlooks West Georgia Street now across the street is the old Canada Post building and there's something unique about this

Amazon recently bought this building they're now constructing on top of the existing building

This building is going to be their tech hub for software development and it's expected to finish in 2022

And this is what its gonna look like

Now to sign up for a membership to the library is easy

all you need is two pieces ID one with photo ID and something with your address on it now if you're not a local or

Even from this country you can still go and you can still sign up

It's just gonna cost you $30 for three months

But if you just want to go and use one of the hundreds of computers, they have there and get free internet access

They'll give you a temporary internet pass for free guys. That's it. My name is David. I'm your guide to Vancouver

I hope you enjoyed this video

True or False: Public Health Stats at the 2018 Bloomberg American Health Summit - Duration: 2:41.

Interviewer: Here we go...

Interviewer: True or false?

Last year 72,000 Americans died from drug overdose.

Maybe

False

Almost 20 percent of American children are obese.

False

Only 11 percent of all U.S. energy

comes from renewable sources.

False

False

5 million 16 to 24 year-olds

are neither in school nor working.

I think false maybe.

More than 40 children and teenagers

are shot every day in America.

Interviewer: That's actually true.

Whoa.

What?

Oh

I just didn't know how big,

but I knew that it would be a big number.

Yeah that's high.

It seems crazy that so many people

would be living like that.

It feels so real because it's not happening like on the

other side of the world.

It's happening in America.

The gun availability's just way too high.

Kids shouldn't worry about getting shot

while they're in school, while they're in class.

I don't think if you're obese it's 100% your fault.

I think they should sell healthier foods in the cafeteria.

Things like renewable energy,

can impact many, many people's lives.

We could use hydroelectricity.

Electric cars.

I know cows actually also contribute to pollution,

their farts.

Well I'm actually not surprised,

I'm more shocked and disappointed.

It's very unfortunate

that we'd have to have this conversation.

Because I see all of this stuff on the news,

and I'm like, "Well when's it gonna stop? What's next?"

A lot of the times parents they're arguing over politics,

and like which side is better, but they don't

really see sometimes what is actually happening,

and how much it can affect certain people.

I think that's something my generation is doing right.

When we have problems, we're not afraid

to communicate them and share them.

Even if you do one thing it can make a big change.

The world can be such a better place if we want it to be.

It pretty much comes down to us.

Public transportation - Duration: 6:43.

Good morning everybody. Today I'm gonna be talking about public transportation

But mainly the 6 things I really don't appriciate

in public transportation

So 1st, there are some people,

you probable already had this experience, who love to

Stare at you, when you're in the Subway

in the train, the bus or where ever

So you're sitting in front of someone and this person is like that

So of course when I see someone staring at me like that

I'm usually like...

Because, I mean

I don't really get it

So then what I normally do

Because this kind of situation pisses me of, a lot!

I mean why are you looking at me You don't have the right to stare at me

if I'm not willing!

So what I usually do, is that I leave them 3 chances

I look

First look means, I have identified you

you better stop that real soon

because this situation is really awkward. Second look

This one means : I want to check if you understood the first look

If it still goes on, I found a way to solve that problem

So that's what I mainly do

And that always works

I have to admit, after it, I always feel like

So who won B****

So second thing that I really don't like in Subways, busses...etc

You know, you always got those rods to hold yourself and

not fall and die

There are people who tend to,

So all this beautiful rod is empty, your hand is here

that person chose to put his hand here

so of course I look at that person

to see what's the intention of that move

at least if I see something like...

Ok, then I get it and I find my way out of that situation

But the problem is that usually

those people don't give a damn about you

They just want a manual contact

without specially wanting to go further

So what I usually do is

I move my hand away, like if nothing happend

but check this,

this dude

put his hand back

I mean, I say "this dude" but it can also be a girl,

no judgment here

So what I do in that case is

I sacrifice myself...

Even if

I mean, we don't know eachother

Don't touch me!

This is my body and my property, I am not willing to share that with you

You know, when you get in a super crowded subway or bus

so you got a find a small spot

one square millimetre to park your body

So some people, usually the ones

that get in last minute, choose

that the best place to stand is exactly

right here

Right here!

there is a direct eye contact

so I end up like that

this is super awkward

We don't know eachother

There is a safety distance you gotta respect

It's in the ''humanism code''

He actually had the choice to give me his profile,

His back.... but no

those people have a confidence

excessive, which give them the power to have no struggle

being that close to you

even looks you in the eye

You also have the ''selfish'' category

so there is one rod in that space

and this person decides that this rode which has been made

to be manualy grabed

becomes

their property

they even stand like that

even if there's a hand there

they don't give a damn

they would break your fingers just to have

100% of stability

While you're risking your life beside them

It's not your mom's rod

also not your mom's subway

So the rest of us find ourselves like that

While you're there looking fine

other situation, you're holding the rob

and that person leans on your hand

so you try to play it tough and not let go

and you get out like that

there's also the ''shameless'' category

So those are usually the same ones

that stand right in front of your face, or here, here

but most important they need to have a panoramic view of your face

and those ones usually choose, either to be sick

or to have something stuck in their throat

but they cough

open mouth on every face

so you're here

they are here

Are even, the tall ones

no problem with tall people, I mean, it's even hot

so the talls ones

tend to sneeze without their hands

awesome! All the small people like me

find ourselves with your bacterias and boogers on our head

and last, this is something I hate but can't forbid people

But people please

don't eat your kebab in the subway

or the bus... or the train

or any close space without windows

because your force us all to smell your

Your shitty meat, onions

So we get in with nothing in our hand and go out smelling like kebab

I mean just wait a little and eat it outside

please

Really please

That's it for me

I hope you enjoyed this video

And if so, don't forget to put a thomb's up!

Up, and not down if possible even tho I respect it

You can share this video with your friends

Family, neighbours, pets...

EVERYBODY

And I hope this video makes you feel less lonely

when you have to face those situations

peace

Pssst... don't forget to subscribe...

Amanda Bynes Grabs a Coffee in L.A. After Opening Up About Her Drug-Induced Public Breakdown - News - Duration: 3:27.

Amanda Bynes means business.  The 32-year-old actress stepped out in Los Angeles on Thursday in gray slacks, a black button-down shirt, a black jacket and a leather messenger bag

Stopping to grab a coffee from Starbucks, Bynes looked relaxed just days after her revealing interview in Paper Magazine's third Break the Internet special

In the issue, the former She's the Man actress detailed how her drug use led to her very public spiral, explaining she began using drugs at 16 and smoked marijuana for the first time

"Later on it progressed to doing molly and ecstasy," she admitted. "[I tried] cocaine three times but I never got high from cocaine

I never liked it. It was never my drug of choice."  While she didn't use cocaine, Bynes did say she regularly got high on another drug: "I definitely abused Adderall

"  Her Adderall use led to her dropping out of the movie Hall Pass, where she remembered being "scatterbrained" from taking the pills

But the real breaking point came after seeing herself in the Emma Stone film Easy A

Bynes recalled being so alarmed by her appearance in the film, which she viewed negatively, that it convinced her to quit acting on the spot

"I literally couldn't stand my appearance in that movie and I didn't like my performance

I was absolutely convinced I needed to stop acting after seeing it," Bynes explained

"I was high on marijuana when I saw that but for some reason, it really started to affect me

I don't know if it was a drug-induced psychosis or what, but it affected my brain in a different way than it affects other people

It absolutely changed my perception of things."  She went on to have several brushes with the law — including two hit and run charges in 2012 and a DUI arrest (though all three charges were ultimately dropped) — she retreated from the spotlight completely and her mom Lynn was named conservator over her "person", which includes health and medical decision-making, in 2014

Get push notifications with news, features and more. Follow Following You'll get the latest updates on this topic in your browser notifications

Now four years sober, Bynes is thriving at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising and is looking forward to continuing on with her Bachelor's degree next year

She's also ready to get back into her first love: acting.  As for what made her spiral, Bynes is no longer interested in any substances

"Those days of experimenting [with substances] are long over. I'm not sad about it and I don't miss it because I really feel ashamed of how those substances made me act," she says

"When I was off of them, I was completely back to normal and immediately realized what I had done — it was like an alien had literally invaded my body

That is such a strange feeling…Truly, for me, [my behavior] was drug-induced, and whenever I got off of [drugs], I was always back to normal

"

Hunting Heritage: A Public Lands Tradition - Duration: 7:37.

It is so uplifting to be out here

and

Refreshing and I can be out here and I don't think about work

And these these hours and miles out here

Are just totally filling but you don't think about working

This country, was crawling with Buffalo 200 years ago

so

I'm always hopeful that I'll find that buffalo skull, sticking out of the bank

Shed deer antlers I

have found a few buffalo bones

Actually did find a buffalo skull one time

like I got a

empty beer can in my pack

that somebody else left out here in this beautiful country

Your dad got me into hunting birds I enjoy it I get to spend good quality time out in this country

it's time to see your family and

I just got to shoot one more bird than your dad

I can think of

three reasons I hunt

One is just being outdoors out forgetting the whole world while you're out here looking all this beautiful country

Enjoying it getting a little bit exercise

family and friends sons and daughters and grandkids and

dogs

We all got these good-looking dogs and they've got to work too and

It's it's so fun watching the dogs work and they love every minute of it

I have labs they have a black lab and a yellow lab

labs are flushers they

Find the birds they smell the birds and they flesh them up in the air for you. Pointers like Griffons and Britneys

German Shorthairs those kind they find the bird and then they

they point it they stop

chasing it and they point it so that you know the birds there and then you walk up there and flush the bird

I prefer flushers because their labs are such great dogs and their such great retrievers

I wouldn't trade my labs. Well I might give them away

Be careful now, she understands what you're saying

Saturday we walked 8 miles

Sunday we walked

six miles and today we walked five miles

that's 19 miles in all, almost 20

I've been hunting, I figure about

62 years

I had a BB gun at six

"Who got you started hunting?" Oh my dad

That's why I'm a bird hunter

That's why you're a bird hunter, it's probably why Joey is gonna be a bird hunter

Oh I've hunted deer and elk

But I'm

kind of getting too old to pack an elk out and I can pack a rooster pheasant, so that's why I hunt pheasants a

lot easier and I can sleep in my own bed at night and

"What about you young mister?" It's fun because there's a bunch of jokes and

it's fun to go get exercise and

play with the dogs and

It's just fun!

One of the joys of being out here are those those little highlights of every trip that

we have like seeing the rattlesnakes two days ago

they were

so cold they were harmless

You remember the dog who got into porcupines

Oh porcupines. Yeah the couple of dogs have been snake bit you will remember, we remember all the little stuff

Yeah the memorable part it are all the little highlights that make a good day like

The frost melting off the grass this morning it was just delightful

Makes it all worthwhile

The reason I hunt is I only see my dad a couple times a year and

This is one tradition that we have done since I was 12 years old my

Mom and dad both taught me how to hunt and I still

go back and hunt with them every year and it's very special to me it means a lot

spending time with my dad and

being with the dogs

Teaching my kid how to hunt and being with my husband it's it's the one thing I really look forward to every year

Okay now don't pull the trigger. Are you ready?

I'm going to throw my hat. Here it goes. Okay and I'm gonna try and shoot it? Yeah! For sure. Ready, okay?

Well, I think you missed. I think I missed. <laughter>
