Fruit Tree Pruning Basics - Simple Tips on Pruning Fruit Trees // The Gardenettes - Duration: 2:14.
Don't be daunted by the thought of pruning your fruit trees - I've got a few
simple tips that'll make the whole process a lot easier!
Firstly start by removing the three D's that's any diseased, dead or damaged
branches. Then look for any crossing or those growing downwards. You can prune
fruit trees to lots of different shapes but the main idea of pruning is to open
up the structure of the tree. This will increase airflow in and around
the branches which can help reduce disease outbreaks and pruning will also
allow more light into the centre of the tree which can help with fruit ripening.
Let's start with pome trees thats things like your apples, pears and
quinces - now these fruit on really obvious fruiting spurs and they're the
stubby little fairy bits of growth you can see here. So we don't want to prune
all of these off but we do still need to shape the tree so look for last season's
growth and that's the young thin spindly pieces and we cut those back by about
half to really give the trees some shape. Peaches and nectarines are stonefruit
trees and they fruit on last season's growth that's this reddish or pinkish
wood that you can see here so we don't want to go removing at all but we do
want to trim it back so that the tree can support the growing fruit and I want
to get rid of spindly little branches like this one here that really won't be
able to hold any fruit at all and then the rest of that newish red growth you
can actually just trim back by that third or a half. Make a cut just above
one of these nodes and cut at an angle. If you had any fungal or pest problems
last season then it's a good idea to do a cleanup spray of eco-fungicide mixed
with eco-oil. And to prevent leaf curl on peaches and nectarines spray them
midwinter with a copper based spray and then again right before the leaves
emerge in late winter or early spring. So these are just some fruit tree pruning
basics and if you're looking for more information then check out if your local
nursery or garden centre has some workshops or carry around good book like
this one when you're pruning - I know I do!

BEAUTYCOUNTER MORNING SKINCARE ROUTINE: + simple product cheatsheet - Duration: 9:24.
hey everybody what's going on this is Steph Gaudreau I am here today sharing
with you my morning skincare routine so a couple of weeks ago I shared with you
my evening routine had lots of questions about that a lot of you grabbed my cheat
sheet that lists out all the products that I used we've got a cheat sheet for
this morning routine as well so if you want to grab that go to stupideasypaleo.com/amskincare
and I'll send you the cheat sheet with all these
products plus some other ones that I don't mention in this video today other
options for you based on your skin type and stuff like that if you do have
questions about products for your skin type how I can help you out if you just
want to know you know what I would recommend for you send me an email or a
direct message and I will do my best to help alright so the morning routine
looks a little bit different than the evening routine I did my evening routine
last night I am not wearing any product on my face I just got back from
jiu-jitsu I do that three times a week in the morning at 7 a.m. hence the the
hair crazy hair but I do this morning routine whether or not I worked out so
yes I get kind of sweaty but I just rinsed my face so you guys over
cleansing is a huge problem I remember when I was growing up all I did was like
wash my face two or three times a day and that produced more oil so if you are
you know a bit on the oily side as it is and I have kind of combination skin a
little bit more oily in the t-zone dry on the cheeks if you already have more
combination skin or more oily skin cleansing more often is generally not
going to help it's gonna sometimes dry your skin out more which and your skin
produces more oil to try to regulate and then you end up kind of a shiny hot mess
so what I do first is just wash my face with water since I'm not taking you into
the shower with me we're friends but we're not that close I'm just gonna
rinse my face off I used to swatch clutch you know just a sort of a gentle
scrub if you want or just wash with just wash with warm water so do that I'm not
going to be too fussy don't forget to get your neck I talked about this before
but like your neck can end up you know for for me
like if I'm rolling around on the ground people are choking me
we're playing jiu-jitsu or I'm at the gym and I've got dirty barbells and
stuff on my chest area make sure you do that as well all right so just a quick
wash now this is I'll go through sort of two different options I use based on the
day the most simple option that I do is just to add a light coverage of moisture
with this counter match adaptive moisture lotion and since I am almost 40
this is a great product for skin that's a little bit on the aging son shall we
say so I really love this product for that I showed you in that p.m. routine
that they're sort of a more intense sleeping cream this little guy it
actually comes in a regular sized bottle but this is just a little sample that I
have but in during the day this moisturizer is a you know it's a bit on
the lighter side so sometimes I use that I'm not actually them apply this because
I want to show you the second option so if I'm not going anywhere I'm just going
to be in the house like I'm not filming anything I put on a light application of
this and that's it second option over if I know I'm going
to be sort of going outside spending any time outside or gonna be filming
anything and I just want a light coverage on my skin look my skin is very
sensitive and I tested this product several times so this is the do skin
moisturizing coverage from beauty counter I know it's a bit hard to read
cause it's like gold on grey which I love but sometimes it's hard to read
anything that I put on my face makes me like other products to make me itchy
this does have zinc oxide in it because this comes with an SPF 20 so if you're
like me and you're kind of lazy and you're like I want a little bit of
coverage but I also want a sunscreen to go with that this is my go-to Jam I use
number two I believe which is sort of like the second you know I'm not super
like redheaded and very very light skin but I do have pretty light skin so I
number two and so I just put this on with my fingers because I'm lazy but you
can't apply this with a brush now tested this product out because I'll just dab a
little bit around my face I tested this out because I wanted to make sure before
I recommended it that it wasn't gonna make me super duper itchy and it doesn't
which is huge like I can leave this on all day and it doesn't make me want to
crawl out of my skin which is pretty huge so I just kind of rub that in it
does have that tint to it because it is basically a tinted moisturizer so you
can use a brush like I said only thing I use my hands you can apply a little bit
more if you feel like you need more coverage I just had to apply a light
coating this way if I'm going out of the house at all you know but I'm not
spending a ton of time in the Sun I do end up getting the SPF 20 and that's
really good it's not greasy and it does give you a little bit of coverage and a
little bit of color a little bit in there you can also use their concealer
if you wanted to like do some around your eyes okay option 3 if I know I am
filming like a real-deal video like I want to look good on camera um you know
when I'm filming my cooking show videos which you can see here on IGTV as well
I use the tint skin which is like a high up set that's in French it's backwards
the ten skin hydrating foundation this is in linen which is like color number
two as well this one is more of a heavier duty I would say heavier duty
foundation so if I really want to look like I don't have you know I tend to
have red patches on my my nose under my eyes like I said almost 40 so I do have
some differences in my skin coloration there then this is the one that I use
this doesn't have any SPF in it though okay so if I'm just like stay in house
in filming I'm going out to eat or like going to an event and I want to make
just have some more foundation and coverage and you guys like I don't wear
makeup really on the daily so that's typically why I like the do skim a
little bit better so that I'm not like more full makeup and then you can
also where they have the mattifying powder that you can wear on top of this
again I'll do a demo with this some other time but I wanted to show you kind
of like option number three and then the very last option I would say is if I'm
going out and I am like literally going to be in the Sun for an extended period
of time like I'm not just kind of in and out of the house running errands I'm
going to use a real like a real sunscreen so SPF 20 is great but it's
not going to provide quite as much coverage or quite as much protection as
we'd like to see if you're gonna spend an extended amount of time in the Sun
this is the spray this is the counter Sun mist
it's an SPF 30 it is a zinc oxide based non nanoparticle why does that matter
because when we're talking about spray and anything that you could accidentally
inhale the not the nanoparticles ink spray nanoparticles have been shown to
you know like they're not great to inhale so this is a non nano zinc spray
there are no chemical propellants in this and I have shown this before I'm
not go spray it I'm in the house typically I would use the lotion I don't
have that on hand right now so I just wanted to show you the counter Sun zinc
oxide spray is reef friendly you can spray it at any angle or use like I said
it comes in lotion and stick and you can get those links but I like this because
the zinc does not absorb into your skin and into your bloodstream it basically
stays on the surface and acts as a physical barrier protector against the
sun's rays so I really like this counter Sun product and like I said it comes in
those three different options it comes in a travel size you can stick it in
your purse so if I know I'm going to be out and about and like really in the Sun
I'm going to you know the beach I'm going to be at an outdoor event so
whatever then I'm going to apply an actual real sunscreen okay so those are
my options for my daily kind of morning skincare routine it's very basic but a
little bit of attention goes a long way you can get the
cheat sheet for this go to stupid easy paleo comm /am skincare that will also
put you on my newsletter list and my newsletter peeps you get lots of
education and I talk about all sorts of different things
July's newsletter is going to be about acne and the gut and how the gut is
important in our skin and all that stuff sometimes I'll share with you you know
different like new things that are coming out from beautycounter but it's
mostly there to help educate and inspire you to make the best choices that you
can for your own skin care all right this is Steph Gaudreau put any questions
you have below and I'm here to help you out thanks
