Hello again, I'm Alex from PomadeShop
and I will do a review on a heavy oil-based pomade for you again
after I had to cover for a waterbased pomade last time
I'm happy about my oil-based pomades again now.
In fact today everything is about probably my favorite pomade ever.
If I had to choose one single pomade for using it the rest of my life
my choice would be Lucky Locke Strong – Black Label
The texture of Lucky Locke pomades is displayed by the color of the labels
– the black one in this case which is the heaviest pomade by Lucky Locke.
Lucky Locke is produced in the Black Forest in Germany by Denny
who has been a big fan of pomades since he was a child
his father and grandfather both already were Rockabillys
with high pompadours.
So a great thing that he started producing his own pomades.
They are handmade, not bottled by a machine.
They are officially on the market since 2016
with license and everything else you need.
The pomades contain very nice ingredients: jojoba oil, avocado oil,
beeswax, lanolin – so only good stuff inside.
About the packaging …
what's funny is the cap which is transparent
something outstanding in the world of pomades
I have never seen that before.
And a colored label – which isn't that beautiful to me personally
with a Wolpertinger on it (mythical creature in Germany)
– that depends on your personal taste.
The Black Forest is on it as well, it's actually Ok.
150 ml per can
so you get quite some amount
which is a bit more expensive of course
but considering the content it's priced similar to High Life for example
so I think not a problem as it is a handmade product
quite a good thing.
I will use it in a minute, first I wet my hair a bit.
Sure there's some pomade from yesterday left in my hair
as you might know it if you are a user of heavy pomades
when you wash your hair
some pomade always stays in there.
The pomade is also easier to work into damp hair
so that's why I wet it.
And then I'll show you what I love about Lucky Locke.
I hope it will work that well today
like it usually does when I'm using Lucky Locke
the result speaks for itself then.
I hope it will work now that fast in front of the camera.
It has this typical light yellow color.
It's a very heavy pomade
but for that scooping it out works pretty well.
It's creamy, not that sticky
but you still can pull strings
so it has a nice sticky hold
but rubbing it is not too hard
as it becomes super creamy between your palms
and working it in is very easy for being such a heavy pomade.
Its hold is heavier than the hold of a pink Reuzel for example
so it's a bit harder to rub it smooth.
But if the pink Reuzel doesn't give you enough hold
you should try a Lucky Locke.
Spreading it works really great
to me the best heavy pomade to work with next to Womanizer pomades
Sure, Bone Crusher …
Yeah in deed compared to Bone Crusher:
It's not harder to rub it and work it in
but to me it gives more hold.
So for me it's totally the perfect mixture
out of strong hold and an easy to work with texture.
For my hair a bit better
than Bone Crusher, which I love as well
but this one is still a tiny bit better.
I think I need one more scoop …
and then we will check out how it combs …
About the scents – there are two:
I'm using „Authentic Man" right now
which is a really classic after shave scent
maybe a bit similar to Pinaud Clubman's Classic Vanilla After Shave
if you know that.
So a pretty bitter, heavy
cologney scent.
And the other one is called „Crazy Bean"
which was the first scent of Lucky Locke
with a fragrance of tonka beans.
Tonka bean is getting more popular again
it used to be called „vanilla of the poor"
it's a bean with vanilla aroma and fragrance
so this scent is vanilla with a bit of a smokey fragrance.
And that's the only issue I have: I can't smell both scents everyday
So I switch them.
I'm getting annoyed by both over some time.
I don't know why – I like them first when I smell the can –
but when I had it in my hair for 2 or 3 days I just can't smell it anymore.
One is too much vanilla, the other one's too heavy
that's why I switch everyday.
But both are still fine,
so not bad scents at all.
That's just my personal taste.
Combing through now …
Totally fine for being such a heavy pomade
not harder than the pink Reuzel
or Bone Crusher – combing through works well.
Let's check about building it up …
Maybe it's because of my thin hair
It's really ultimately how it holds my hair together
without falling down
and how high I can build it up.
No other product can do that.
Usually the higher I build it up the more it falls apart.
Lucky Locke always gives me the feeling
I could do everything with my hair.
Absolutely awesome.
Shaping the hair works nice, it's not to edgy
you can get nice round shapes, it holds the sides
so I don't have to add some other stickier pomade to my difficult sides
because the basic stickiness of this pomade is totally enough.
I could pull it even higher now
but I don't want it to be higher.
For now …
I can say …
the day can pass by looking like this.
I hope you like it too
let's check that nothing stands away on the back …
I simply found the perfect product for me.
Which is kind of a pity because my search is over
but I will still keep on trying other stuff
which is an oil-based heavy pomade.
Really great.
If you use heavy pomades, really try out Lucky Locke strong.
There's also the red one
which has a medium-strong texture.
This one doesn't really do the job for me
my hair falls apart with it.
It's heavier than a medium but still not a strong pomade
but also that creamy as a medium
so a very good version
if you don't want a strong hold, but also a medium is not enough for you.
And the medium and the blue one
are really good medium and light pomades
which Flo will review one day for sure
because they are awesome as well.
About the shine …
sure not that much because it's a strong hold
but still not bad though.
Especially on the sides it stays very long
on the pulled up hair it looks more matt
when it's dry.
I don't need an additional pomade for extra shine here
the shine Lucky Locke gives is enough for me.
A really awesome product.
A pomade dream to me.
I hope I told you everything about Lucky Locke
and you liked the review
see you soon with the next pomade – thank you, bye bye.
