dedicated to read and great customer service they have a good academic

background and they also are friendly with their co-workers and have good

relationships internally too.

So for new hires first, we look for good interpersonal skills. We look for people

that can be friendly, be helpful, energetic. We also look for a good

understanding of financial topics too so we look for people that

are gonna have a background and maybe accounting or finance or maybe marketing

but all those things that they did that students take classes in those

transition over to Washington Federal and banking really well so we look for

them to be successful both academically but also be interested in you know

working closely with customers.

So for Washington Federal, I think we work in teams a lot whether your

position may be independent but all enough but at the end of the day working

together with different departments with your manager with your employees is very

important so everything that probably gets done at Washington Federal and

banking usually there's multiple people involved so the teamwork skills that you

learn working on projects out at Boise State are very important and we look for

those skills when we're hiring.

So for new hires it's always great if somebody has in addition to been in

college if they have had some work experience as well so that could be

everything from retail experience working in a local retail store or

a coffee shop something like that's great but you can also get that really

good experience you can get that in college to participating and actually in

it a club or association that you get experience kind of more on the post

college but you can have it while you're in school so well the the coursework is

very important you can also prepare yourself other ways too.

Yeah so for personal personality traits that Washington Federal looks for we

have a kind of a company motto that's just simply be nice so I think more than

anything we look for to hire nice people people that their customers like to

see and other co-workers enjoy working with so I think the biggest

thing if there was one thing more than anything is just to simply be nice.

So I think success could be defined a lot of different ways I think you could

be some people are very successful in their careers which is great and I think

there is also a lot of success and a lot of other ways to others people are very

successful in what they help give back to their communities or people are very

successful with their relationships with their families and friends and so I

think Washington Federal is a company where we try to be have a good work-life

balance where success doesn't just have to be defined as you know working a

crazy amount of hours and being successful in your job you can be

successful in a lot of other ways that are very important to.

So Washington Federal is looking to grow in the Boise market we're based in

Seattle but a big presence in Idaho and Boise so the focus for Washington

Federal has continued to be stronger and add resources and a greater focus on

Boise I think there's a big focus on the opportunity for build Boise as a city and

Boise State plays a big part of that too so I think for for anyone that's

potentially looking for a company that they want to work for I think they you

know I think that's a good thing where they know that the company has a focus

in on and continued growth continuing opportunity because you know I think

when you're coming out of put it possibly college or looking for a new

position now you want to see that there's a lot of opportunity in the

future so while you you know you want to find the right position you know the

first position would be a good position you want to see that there's a lot of

opportunity continue to progress and have the the guidance and the focus on

your career that that you that you want to be have a great future within

a company where you don't have to necessarily you know look for

opportunities elsewhere you can still continue to progress in your career at

one company so I think that's something that we try to do tried to do and we'll

continue to try to do in Boise and it's just something that new grads might want

to take a look at.
