How to Save 50% of Your Monthly Income Part 4! Our Actual Monthly Expenses Revealed! - Duration: 10:19.

How's it going everybody! Welcome to part four of our series on how we save over

50% of our net monthly income now I know it's been a while since I've made one of

these but I've wanted to make another part of this many of you have asked

mainly subscribers and viewers of all kinds of asked hey Mike what are your

monthly expenses can you elaborate a little bit more on that or go into more

detail and I thought yeah absolutely why not so we're going to kick off the

expenses right now and these are our actual expenses as accurate as I can get

them for you and then we're gonna walk right through it and so you guys can see

what we spend to live here on a monthly basis here in California okay starting

with our auto expenses and hopefully my head doesn't get in the way at any of

these points so our auto insurance this is an expense I'm looking at changing

we're roughly spending about 182 dollars a month right now auto insurance gone up

on us quite a bit this year I'm kind of ticked off about it and so I want to

look around and shop around for lower rates for our two cars DMV renewal is

about $35 a month and then I want to point out that obviously we don't renew

our vehicle every month but I'd the way I budget for our finances and our

expenses and to help us stay out of debt I even if the expense is not occurring

this month because obviously DMV fees occur only once per year that I put it

on the spreadsheet as if it were a monthly expense so I can save up money

for it does that make sense so I'm always pretending that I have the

expense even though the expense might not occur right at that moment so that

when the expense does roll around I have money already saved and set aside for it

and that keeps us out of debt and this kept us out of debt for years and years

it's works very effectively feeling gas we spent about 200 hours a month right

now oil changes about 22 dollars a month whenever we need an oil change Triple A

so about 12 dollars a month or 144 dollars a year would you have triple-a

roadside service car washes occasionally we'll take our car to the carwash

repairs you know I asked to mate that in there's 85 bucks a month is what I set

aside in a car repair account and we do separate our savings accounts I have it

by category so I have savings set aside for vacations for car repairs and other

other such things home repairs and things like that just so you guys know

okay moving forward smog every every other year or so we have a smog expense

so but that's very small we have like four dollars and 50 cents per month is

what it actually cost us

day 9 a budget about $150 a month sometimes we stay in sometimes we go out

so on average it comes out to about that gym membership

and fitness is about sixteen bucks a month hobbies is could be miscellaneous

things like you know if I buy a game here or there which is very rare now or

if my wife buys books my wife loves the read books so she'll buy stuff on Amazon

all the time off the Kindle bookstore so that's what that money is set aside for

vacation and travel so we're always budgeting money for vacations usually

like once a year we try to think of nice vacation so like this year we went down

to San Diego for a week we had a blast overall with like the hotel stays and

the different parks we went to we went to SeaWorld we went to San Diego Zoo

it's amazing if you guys have never been there make sure to check it out but you

know in the long story short though we ended up spending about $1,600

so we budget anywhere from $1,500 a year to two thousand dollars a year with

vacations so we're always putting that money aside so that we don't have to go

into debt to take a vacation moving on the debt obligations and this is

something I really wanted to have stand out notice we don't have car payments we

don't have credit card payments we have no medical loan payments the only debt

payment we have is our mortgage and I've you if you guys have been following

channel for now you know that's the only debt that I would hold on to I am an

anti debt person so in step 4 having a mortgage I want to get rid rid

of debt as soon as possible this year we just recently purchased a new car we

purchased a used rav4 I think a 2015 year model but we paid cash because I

did not want to take a vehicle loan so this is our true mortgage payment I the

update it real quick just so it says that payment is net of taxes and

insurance so every single month this is how much money it costs us to have our

home 636 dollars and you're say Mike that's ridiculous that's well below the

rent price I say I know I'm pretty pretty blessed so we got our house at

the end of 2012 on beginning January of 2013 that around

that time frame and we bought our house here in California the market had not

recovered yet and it was about we purchased a house for $185,000 we were

able to put 20% down and so now I think on our mortgage we owe I think we owe

about 93 thousand dollars left right now and and I have no incentive to pay this

because mortgage rates are already higher than what my annual rate is now

so but that's our mortgage payment and this is one of the reasons we can save

so much money every single month one of our largest expenses on our budget is

definitely food and household products and more so definitely like grocery

shopping getting food for the week are the for the month getting supplies

cleaning supplies you know hair supplies makeup whatever whatever my wife needs

to buy all of that runs us just between her and I because we don't have any kids

about eight hundred and fifty dollars a month haircuts is roughly about sixty

bucks a month let's move on to two home rent living and utilities so electricity

is about a hundred bucks a month here gas is about sixty bucks a month our

gardener is about 90 bucks a month I used to not have a gardener I used to

always do our yard but from the money I'm making from YouTube now I'm able to

hire him now so I can spend more time making videos and content for you guys

and he's happy he's getting paid and he likes coming over and is hanging out

with us anyways so my brother-in-law helping us out with that so we

appreciate it property taxes now this are my our

property taxes and our homeowners insurance right here is bundled together

with our mortgage but I wanted to break it out so you guys can see the

difference so really when I pay our mortgage I really pay eight hundred

fifty eight bucks a month but so our property taxes and homeowners insurance

swaps or do add add another two hundred and twenty two dollars per month to that

payment so eight hundred fifty eight bucks is our mortgage payment with taxes

and insurance obviously we're set aside money from

home repairs it doesn't occur every month thank God but we set money aside

for that pest control once a quarters when they come so it's about like 95 96

bucks every every quarter water and sewer garbage guys is one of the pricier

ones it's about one hundred and thirty five dollars a month let's go on to

medical and health care so luckily our insurance is pretty much both completely

covered by our employers so we don't really have a lot of cost here right now

there's some you know vitamins and prescriptions we buy so it's about ten

bucks a month but pretty much insurance covers everything for us right now and

nothing is out of pocket so that's really nice hey guys we're almost done

here so moving on to his services and like TV phone internet etc cell phone

for my wife and I combined is eighty seven bucks a month that's for two smart

phones I'm still using my iPhone 5s which I showed in my very first video to

this series I've had it for like three or four years now still works not gonna

get a new one yet when I do get a new one I'm gonna go shopping on eBay cuz

that's where I can find them really cheap because I do not need a $1,200

smartphone internet expense is like seventy four bucks a month I'm gonna be

looking at changing that we're with AT&T right now but I want to maybe look at

gif team to comm cat we have a couple software products that I use for YouTube

and whatnot that's about ten bucks a month television services we just use

streaming services like Netflix and Hulu we don't really have cable TV we cut

that a long time ago so that's about like I said about 30 bucks a month their

web services at some other stuff for money in life TV comm and some other

computer stuff that's about 15 bucks a month so guys those are pretty much a

walk through of our expenses let me know if you have questions about any of those

and if you can't if you take out some of the items that we don't occur on a

monthly basis we're easily saving anywhere from this

about 49 percent to up to 60 percent of our income of our net income at some

points during yeah during the year it just depends so I hope that makes sense

guys and now down here I have it all broken out

well guys you've asked for more transparency regarding our monthly

expenses and here they are I hope I hope that clears some things up for you guys

of how we can save over 50% of our income or right around 50% of our income

every single month remember that when we first got married we could not do this

it took a couple of years of getting promotions at our jobs paying off debt

like student loans and things like that before we were able to get to this point

and so that's pretty much all the information I have for you guys today
