Back to Nininger Hall as a big win this evening for these Bridgewater college Eagles as they

knock off W&L herein maybe one of the more complete games your squad's played coach.

I think we've discovered at this point for us to be effective defensively we have to

speed teams up. I think we did a good job with that because their a great offensive

team they have a lot of weapons very explosive Coach McHugh does a great job teaching them

offense and I think we sped them up 27 turnovers thats a lot in a game so I think thats the

difference cause there always going to find a way to hit some shots in the second half

there but fortuanetly we hit shots as well Chandler hit some big ones and we made free

throws it was we have a bunch of different guys do some good things it was good we needed

it got another really tough one saturday but certainly you know times running out good

that we got this one. You talk about contributions five players in double figures two more had

eight i mean thats kinda the way i think that you probably envisioned things is that it

was going to have to be a team effort and sure you know dimetri scored his 28 but after

that you get a bunch of guys right there you know that 10 to 14 range t o fill in the gaps

and to fill and thats when we effective thats what we are i think our shots 46% from 3 44

for the game and they have some big big guys inside so we weren't as effective as to be

expected in a game like this but yeah i think thats key monte hit some big shots jimmie

hit some timely shots we did a pretty good job taking care of the ball for the most part

and made free throws so yeah alot of positives definetly good to see that and its the first

time we've been at full strength for i think about a month so i think um when we're at

full strength and we got everyone in the lineup we show we can compete with a lot of people

so hopefully that stays the case lynchburg is a top 25 team on Saturday got two at home

next week so you know hopefully we can keep this going a little bit and the key is always

defense though i think that was huge for us to not turn them over how many steals we have

14 steals that a lot of live ball turnovers. Dimetri had six on his own and i just think

you know when had the match up that you did out there him and kearns and i think dimetri

probably only once truly had his pocket picked but on the other side you know there came

a point when i thought you know turned there was a little bit of blood in the water and

it felt like the defense just really clamped down and the hands ive never seen them quicker.

And thats the thing you know and that what we kind of really did emphasize that coming

into this game that people have to there has to be a consequence if people are trying to

drive it on you and we got away from that a little bit at the end but for probably 75%

of the game there are people there are bodies there and alot of teams in our league are

very rhythm based offensively like they wanna be able to do they're stuff at they're pace

and be on time with things passes and i think we really did a good job with that tonight

so thats really a key thats going to be something we are going to have to do going forward as

well. You talked earlier about speeding them up and you can certainly see that in the first

half it had a real helter skelter feel to it there early on and i gotta be honest I

wasn't sure we were going to leave 11-11 we were joking here at halftime to score i think

it was 40-34 we were saying how did it get this high just because while it was end to

end there was no finish on either side right and then kinda the floodgates opened in the

second half 54-50 so yeah i think we have a tendency to start slow offensively but i

think we got into a pretty good rhythm but again a lot of that rhythm was caused by our

defense i think um you know being able to get out and run a little bit its funny we've

scored 90 a bunch and we've scored 50 a bunch so its kinda like we have the potential but

we have to execute and go at it when your hitting shots it makes it a lot easier. I

was going to say what a difference making that transition 3 is yeah because you know

and i dont think any coach minds the transition 3 because not that its a free possesion but

theres a great opportunity and if you miss it you just go back and play defense again

you hit a couple of those chandler for a moment was just unstoppable and that you know played

a big part in to kind of pushing them far enough down that even when they made their

run at the end they were still at an arms length exactly and we needed that cushion

cause they're too good they start two all-conference seniors we don't have any seniors to go and

beat a team like that with roy mcmillian is a first team all odac guy and kearns is certainly

an all league guy as well we made him have a rough night in a lot of ways we did a good

job thats a very very good team and that team could easily win the league and pretty much

almost any team playing night in and night out so its a good win glad we could do it

at home had a nice atmosphere band was here it was good know we gotta go on the road against

a top 25 team hopefully be able to do some similar good things see where it goes from

there last thing I gotta ask you when you look at this lineup that they have lamendola

is not the guy you'd normally look at but he was the guy that just killed you in lexington

yeah and hes a freshman was there anything you did differently i think overall with guys

like him and dennin whos a great shooter i think we just did a better job of disrupting

there rhythm so when they did get shots they were a little sped up they weren't quite comfortable

they weren't you know swing swing kick kick three when they had they're feet set alot

so i thought we kind of made them play a little bit faster and out of rhythm than they would

have liked and that translated into them not kind of getting til the very end where they

kind of found a rhythm a little bit and we were kind of playing on our heels so probably

that last 5-7 minutes i thought we kind of dictated the pace and when you do that you're

going to be able to get some good things and good results so it was a we'll take it we'l

take a win this late in the year against a very good team for sure coach congratulations

thanks for the time

HOT | Howard Schultz brings a whole latte trouble The Washington Post

Howard Schultz has brought a whole latte trouble on himself.

The former Starbucks magnate boycott threats, heckling and Twitter attacks with his threat to mount an independent presidential run that critics say could get President Trump reelected. Just about everybody believes we do not need another old, white, insult doling, super caffeinated billionaire who is stingy with charity and believes he alone can fix the nations problems.

Though I am loath to throw cold brew on these concerns, I dont see what all the froth is about. The naysayers are making a venti mistake.

Contrary to his early utterances, Schultz will not be president for just the 1 percent. He will also represent the 2 percent, the half and half and the soy — and he would leave room for milk! Only a man of his experience could unite this vast land, from the Vermont Maple Nut Muffin to the Michigan Cherry Oat Bar.

Schultz, watching Trumps fumbles, must think what the comic songwriter Kinky Friedman thought when he ran for Texas governor. Observing that both George W. Bush and Rick Perry once had the job, he : How hard can it be?

Americans have discovered, painfully, that running the country is not the same thing as running a real estate business based on dodgy accounting and stiffing partners. But running the country really is like making coffee. As goes Starbucks, so goes the nation.

Under our new , the United States will be an international orphan no more. Foreign leaders will again flock to the White House, for state dinners set to acoustic guitar music and featuring Protein Bistro Boxes and Toffeedoodle Cookies. What a Refresher™!

Schultz for declaring it ridiculous that Americans worth more than dollar 50 million would pay 2 percent of their wealth in taxes, and for saying that Medicare for all is not American. But he has a point. If the wealthy are taxed more, they wont be able to buy as many , and countless baristas would lose their jobs. Do not think of this as trickle down economics. Think of this as pour over economics.

There is nothing more Americano.

Admittedly, Schultz is not a great philanthropist, reportedly giving away just of his dollar 3.4 billion net worth last year. But this doesnt mean hes disingenuous in expressing concern for the 40 percent of the American people [who] dont have dollar 400 in the bank perhaps because they bought dollar 5.95 cold pressed juice at Starbucks . Consider the multitudes who have been given the Starbucks bathroom code and free WiFi after a purchase . If that isnt good enough, let them eat cake pops.

True, Starbucks has had with its treatment of nonwhite customers. But this does not reflect Schultzs real view of the United States as a caramel macchiato of diversity; a great, dirty chai melting pot; a veritable zebra mocha of cultures. Schultzs administration will think of immigrants as essential dark, medium and blonde roasts in the perfect house blend.

Trump thinks Guatemalans are coming to kill us; Starbucks Guatemalan exports for being rich and balanced with lively flavor notes. Africa is full of shithole countries, but Starbucks values African exports for their dark chocolate notes with rich aromas.

Likewise, Schultz will use Starbucks style relabeling to make the United States feel better. Disappointing increases in economic growth will not be called small but tall. The federal debt will no longer be enormous but trenta.

Schultz will be a responsible steward of the taxpayers money: When he owned the National Basketball Associations Seattle SuperSonics, he reportedly with dollar 3.50 Starbucks gift cards, custom made because standard ones were too generous. He clearly has the requisite international experience, having introduced both Thai style peanut chicken wraps and spicy chorizo, Monterey Jack and egg breakfast sandwiches.

I almost affogato! Schultz also respects the work of the intelligence community: He has maintained a secret menu at Starbucks for years.

Schultzs critics have questioned his civic mindedness, because he often and because, after the Sonics a public trust to have the team in Seattle, he sold it to a group that moved it to Oklahoma City. And some wonder why, if he truly thinks Trump is , Starbucks rents space from Trump properties.

But I overlook such quibbles because of Schultzs long record of bringing home the bacon, as well as the Gouda, and pursuing that tasty breakfast sandwich with a passion tea. His breve bid for the presidency will restore in the United States the ideals of Athenian democracy — or at least give us a good Greek yogurt parfait.

US NEWS | Judge wont unseal criminal case against Julian Assange The Washington Post

A federal judge in Virginia declined Wednesday to unseal charges against WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange without official confirmation from the government that the indictment exists.

Courts cannot perform the delicate balancing required by the First Amendment and common law doctrines under such uncertain circumstances, Judge Leonie M. Brinkema wrote.

The was mistakenly referenced by a prosecutor filing a motion in an unrelated case and confirmed by The Washington Post and other news outlets. The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, a journalism nonprofit, to unseal the charges, arguing there is no longer any justification for keeping the details of the case secret.

But Brinkema concluded an obviously erroneous filing in an unrelated case, public speculation, news stories, and anonymous statements by government officials does not supply a level of certainty comparable to that afforded by official acknowledgment.

For that reason, she said the claim of a public right to know was premature, and a ruling in the groups favor would allow for fishing expeditions based on speculation.

RCFPs Legal Director, Katie Townsend, said in a statement that the group was disappointed, adding, The disclosure of the nature of the charges against Assange are a matter of public interest and should be made public.

Federal prosecutors in the Eastern District of Virginia have been investigating WikiLeaks since 2010, when the anti secrecy site published secret diplomatic cables and military documents. Under President Barack Obama the Justice Department for those disclosures would run up against freedom of the press. But under Trump, after the websites 2017 revelation of sensitive CIA cyber tools, prosecutors took a new look at the case.

The nature of the charges and evidence against Assange , sparking concern among free press advocates.

Assange, who has lived as a fugitive in Londons Ecuadorian embassy, is also pushing for the indictment to be unsealed. Wikileaks filed a petition last week with the Inter American Commission on Human Rights, a regional pro democracy organization.

In a press release, Wikileaks said that federal prosecutors have in the last few months formally approached people in the United States, Germany and Iceland and pressed them to testify against Mr. Assange in return for immunity from prosecution.

Department of Justice officials have declined to comment on those claims.

Wikileaks takes a swipe at the famously secretive Vatican The Washington Post - Duration: 1:50.

Wikileaks takes a swipe at the famously secretive Vatican The Washington Post

ROME — WikiLeaks, the tell anything anti secrecy organization, on Wednesday took aim at one of the worlds most secretive institutions, the Vatican, releasing a small collection of documents about a power struggle involving Pope Francis, a leading traditionalist cardinal, and a medieval Catholic order of knights.

The offered little new about a fight that two years ago was widely covered in the media. Their contents seem especially paltry at a time when the Vatican is embroiled in full fledged scandals on multiple continents. But the release represented the first time WikiLeaks has turned its spotlight on the often acrimonious internal affairs of the Holy See, and some Vatican watchers wondered whether more damaging secrets might start to escape the city states walls.

The fact itself, WikiLeaks entering the internal affairs of the Vatican, is an alarm bell, said Marco Politi, a veteran Vatican watcher. The subject itself is not interesting. These are old diatribes, old fights. But the important thing will be the next step. Will there be a subsequent WikiLeaks [release] on something not previously revealed? Should WikiLeaks pull out stuff regarding pedophilia or banking scandals, then we would be onto something new.

Though the Vatican has been burned by leaks in the past — mostly notably when a trove of confidential documents was released in 2012 with help from then — the city state is famed for its airtight hold on information, including its paperwork on cases involving sexual abuse.

A Vatican spokesman noted that WikiLeaks had previously touched on church affairs, in 2010 — but the then were cables from the U.S. Embassy, describing diplomatic relations with the Holy See. WikiLeaks Editor in Chief Kristinn Hrafnsson said Wednesday was the first time the organization released documents about the Vatican conflict between the different factions.

The documents stemmed from a knotty fight over leadership within the Knights of Malta, a sovereign Catholic order that in 2016 was found to have distributed contraceptives in some of the countries where they do charitable work. A power struggle ensued between the pope and the aristocratic order, and some observers said the tensions were exacerbated by Cardinal Raymond Burke, a papal adversary who was the Knightss liaison to the Vatican.

But by the end, the pope had prevailed, forcing the resignation of the orders grand master and installing his own apostolic delegate to the order.

WikiLeaks, describing some of the documents it released, recounted those events and said that the pope had deeply undermined the Orders independence and sovereignty. Although it was unclear who shared the documents with WikiLeaks, that framing clearly echoed critics of the pope.

Among other documents, WikiLeaks released a letter from Francis to Burke, written before the conflagration had reached its height, indicating that he was keeping watch on developments. Several journalists said the letter had been in wide circulation, though it had not been made public.

Francis has become more vulnerable to opposition, and even dissent, as his papacy has been hobbled by a series of sexual abuse related crises. The faiths leaders are divided over his handling of those crises, as well as his somewhat more permissive stance on social issues and his use of power. Last August, a former Vatican ambassador — in the most visible form of friction of Franciss papacy — of knowing about and failing to act on the alleged abuse of seminarians by then . The ambassador said Francis should resign.

Francis has not responded to the accusations. The Vatican subsequently said it was preparing necessary clarifications. The Vatican also said it was studying its own archived records of McCarrick and would eventually make known the conclusions.

But so far, the church has taken neither promised step. And the files, for now, remain secret.

Stefano Pitrelli contributed to this report.

Trump says the intelligence community is wrong. Actually, he is. The Washington Post - Duration: 0:36.

Trump says the intelligence community is wrong. Actually, he is. The Washington Post

Opinion Interpretation of the news based on evidence, including data, as well as anticipating how events might unfold based on past events

NOTHING DESCRIBED in the intelligence communitys annual presented to Congress on Tuesday should be surprising. The 42 page report declared that North Korea is unlikely to give up all of its nuclear weapons and production capabilities. Iran continues to make trouble in the Middle East but is not currently undertaking the key nuclear weapons development activities needed to build a nuclear weapon. Russia and China are both challenging the liberal democratic model long advanced by the United States. The Islamic State commands thousands of fighters in Iraq and Syria, and with eight branches and more than a dozen networks, will keep attacking. Climate hazards are intensifying. These are sober findings.

But there was one recipient of the report who was particularly unhappy. President Trump on Wednesday delivered a public tongue lashing to his intelligence chiefs. On Twitter, the president the intelligence community assessment extremely passive and naive when it comes to the dangers of Iran. He insisted, They are wrong! MUCH different since he came into office and that he had caused that change. Perhaps Intelligence should go back to school! he jibed.

On North Korea, Mr. Trump , North Korea relationship is best it has ever been with U.S., and that once again he had changed everything from the previous administration. I look forward to seeing Kim Jong Un shortly, he said. Progress being made big difference! As for the Islamic State, Mr. Trump , When I became President, ISIS was out of control in Syria and running rampant. Since then tremendous progress made, especially over last 5 weeks. Caliphate will soon be destroyed, unthinkable two years ago.

On the facts, theres not much question: The intelligence community is right, and Mr. Trump is wrong. Irans behavior has not changed. As in the last year of the Obama administration, Iran continues to pursue hegemony over Syria and Lebanon by violent means, while — as U.N. inspectors have confirmed — keeping its nuclear program on ice. North Korea with both the Clinton and George W. Bush administrations that went far beyond that so far reached between Mr. Trump and Mr. Kim, who has not stopped North Koreas production of missiles and warheads. And so on.

Aside from Mr. Trumps by now familiar prevarications, it is breathtaking to see him so at odds with the intelligence community. Intelligence collection and analysis are at the critical intersection of ground truth and policy, the place where reality is presented for decisions, and the president is the most important decider. Plenty of lessons from recent history, from the Vietnam War to the Sept. 11 attacks, offer caution about the dangers — even in the best of times — of a disconnect or error in this process. Mr. Trumps declarations suggest it is near breakdown.

Will overseas adversaries be emboldened by the sight of a president who feels compelled to publicly disparage his own intelligence community of and more than 100,000 people? Daniel Coats, the director of national intelligence, and Gina Haspel, the CIA director, deserve credit for not ducking the responsibility on the threats they see, even though they must have known Mr. Trump was likely to disagree. They did leave one serious threat off their list: that of a president mired in his own delusions who refuses to hear the truth.
