For the last 14 years I've worked in the tourism industry here in New Zealand as

a two island full commentary tour coach driver this experience has given me the

knowledge to be able to bring to you the adventurous New Zealand the scenic

panoramas that we see on a regular basis out of the front of the coach window it

Hi Here I am in the Distinction Christchurch this is a beautiful hotel

it's one of about 15 the distinction and New Zealand owned brand now have around

the country their flagship one is down in Dunedin I haven't yet stayed

there but certainly looking forward to that as you can see from the videos and

the pictures it's really lovely a really well-appointed hotel

the rooms are a reasonable size but the beds are very very comfy

and the bathroom is well-appointed it's lovely and light a lot of the ladies get

upset because they can't put the makeup on because it's too dark I don't have to worry

about that maybe just put a little moisturiser on you know what I mean

the food at the distinction Christchurch is

excellent and really interesting for breakfast this morning

they had veggies I like my cauliflower on my broccoli and that was part of the

array of food in the buffet there's of Asian noodles and bacon and

your sausages and all that regular sort of stuff and it's a lovely restaurant area

and the bar is very nice it's very open there's a lot of big seating around

in the bar area as you can see from the photos that's good and that allows folks

to sit and relax which we did last night one thing I'll say is I really do like

the staff here the concierge and the porters and the reception everybody

the housemaids everybody's so friendly and just so

willing to help you. So giving it a big thumbs up

I'm really looking forward to coming back to stay at the Distinction

Christchurch and I hope that when you come and visit this garden city of Christchurch

you will to.

My night at the hotel CORTEZ How can I tell you, I will never stay in this hotel again.

I went to LA a few months ago as part of a business meeting.

Actually it was the first time I went there

I had never been attracted to big cities

The appointment was not planned

but I had an incredible opportunity for my business and I seized the opportunity to meet future clients.

Preparing for my trip gave me a headache,

took my ticket, chose the venue and booked a hotel.

For the latter, I did not take the head

I was only going to stay two nights

As long as I had a comfortable bed it would be ok.

So I looked at the hotels, which were within the scope of my meeting place.

One in particular caught my attention

The price was affordable and the look rather glamorous reminiscent of the 50s

Once on the scene, the decoration was as in the photos

It was out of time. I admit that I liked it well

However, in the hall, there was a dead silence

An old lady, about sixty, was standing behind the counter, staring at the entrance with an effaced air

Not a word, not a smile, until I put myself in front of her

I explain that I booked a room and show her my papers

She finally gives me a smile and tells me in an ironic tone, that I'm going to like it a lot here

Then she accompanies me to my room

It was room 64

There were strange noises in the hallways, it seemed that all the rooms were occupied

My room was rather retro, simplistic, considering the price I could not complain

I also learned to my dismay that there was no wifi

The entire building was airtight at any wave reception.

How could this be possible? I was pretty upset rat that moment

That night,

That night, I did not leave my room, I was tired and I still had to prepare documents for my clients

During the night, I remember it, I felt that I was losing my blanket

Which was pretty odd since it was big enough.

I then turn on the light, just to reposition the cover,

when I see with astonishment that a child was there, staring at me.

I scream and he run away

It was a little boy, about 5 years old, blond hair, dressed elegantly for his age

his look was empty, and his complexion pale, it looked like he was sick

I chase him down the hall, but he was too fast and I lost him

Returning to my room, I meet the maid, I explain the situation and she told me not to worry.

She explains that it was the son of the owner and he was a little sick,

he did not know what he was doing.

She assured me that it was not going to happen again.

I then return to my room still a little shocked

I spent the rest of the night feeling like being watched, and it was really cold all of a sudden.

The next day, I get ready, to have breakfast at the corner of the street before going to my appointment

I was right to take my chance. Everything was fine.

After a good day of wandering, I came back to the hotel to rest and cool off a bit

I catch a conversation between a man and the maid in the hallway

He said that during the night he heard cries, tears and scratches on the walls.

I thought it must be this little boy again.

During the night, I do not know what time it was, but something grabbed me by the foot and pulled me out of bed, so hard that I had to hold on to keep from falling

I was scared and confused

Seeing that I was struggling, the thing let me go of his embrace

and I hurried to turn on the lights. But there was nothing

The door was still closed

So I grabbed my glass on the bedside table and the torch on my phone.

Like everyone else, I looked under the bed ready to attack.But there was nothing under the bed

There was nothing in the closets or in the bathroom

I go back to my bed, and that's where I notice bruises on my legs and feet,

the size and shape of a finger

I was sure they were not there when I went to bed

This hotel was starting to drive me crazy.

I fell asleep leaving the lights on

Then, I heard it!

On the other side of the room groans were heard

My eyes snapped open and I sat up in my bed!

The air had become cold again

I rushed to get dressed and went down to the front desk and asked the receptionist if I could change rooms.

She asked me if there was something wrong with the room

So I told her all those weird things that happened to me since I was there.

She gave me an indifferent look

I was on the verge of explosion when the maid arrived.

Seeing me upset , she asked What was the problem?

The receptionist replied,

The crying ghost is in her room"

I was stunned !!

Nobody told me that the hotel was haunted.

I sat down with my suitcase in the hall all night

and from the first light of day I left,

and I will never go back.

I advise you to do the same.

Run AWAY from the hotel Cortez.

its like a "boom" to me

along the Hi-way you can see the beautiful view, seaside, unique plants and trees... so relaxing!

good morning today we are heading to a great abandoned house that belonged to a

family that came to the islands 500 ago years, even the shield of

So, there are very good reviews from families and the children.

It definitely allows the hotel to offer a very much enhanced experience

to families who are travelling here.

The children can play.

The parents can enjoy a drink by the side.

And we are definitely seeing more families travelling together in the hotel.
