¡Un hotel embrujado! - Zacatecas - Isaí estuvo aquí - Duration: 7:08.
As in a chivalric novel, from Zacatecas one falls in love at first sight
to begin with, it is pink, but a multiplied pink that goes from a pale orange to the red color of the wine
passing through an unimaginable amount of tones
One of the iconic points is the hill of "La Bufa"
This could be the crown of Zacatecas
as well as orienting you in the labyrinthine streets of the city is a backdrop for many photographs
You can climb it on foot, with good shoes and good cheer the ascent could last 20 minutes
although there are also tour buses
in January 2018 the cable car is closed for maintenance
if you want to visit it call to know if it is operating
The views that are appreciated are a gift to the eyes and is the best place to contemplate the sunset
Now, if yours is to know the place through its museums
here there is a great variety for its more than 130 000 inhabitants
Being a city with a university population
cultural exhibitions, open-air theater, galleries and all the broadcasting agenda is full all the time
The Rafael Coronel Museum, for example, combines the attractiveness of its Franciscan enclosure
with the immense collection of 2300 masks of all cultures that you can imagine
among devils, animals, saints, old people and a host of characters tells the history of folklore Mexican
not only masks, but puppets are part of Rafael Coronel's collection
The enclosure is one of the first Franciscan convents built in Mexico in the S. VXI
restored in 1980 you can still walk in some ambulatory and its majesty looks like a movie set
The historic center has a charm that seems to be suspended in time
was named cultural heritage of humanity in 1993
The most emblematic buildings are the cathedral, jewel of Mexican baroque
its facade is composed of three bodies
The first is the sculptures carved in the quarry of the apostles Santiago, San Pedro, San Pablo and San Andrés
The arc of access of mixtilinear form, this also decorated with reliefs of diamonds, angels and vegetal reasons
The Fernando Calderon Theater, whose construction is named after the outstanding nineteenth-century poet and dramatist jaliscience
was carried out between 1891 and 1897 under the design of architect George A. King
The property was administered by the City of Zacatecas until 1962
the year in which by decree of the Government of the State it became property of the Autonomous University of Zacatecas
The name tour "in the bowels of the theater" you can see the dressing rooms
the curtain systems, the elevation system under the stage and come out as if you were one of the actors!
The streets of the center for a few years, are characterized by night scenic lighting that make you live magical experiences while you walk
But being here, what can you eat?
Well known is Acropolis, which although it may seem, is not a museum or gallery, but a coffee restaurant with high demand but with reasonable costs
Now, there is also "The cabin" that has regional food in a more relaxed environment
in terms of popular food, there are gorditas everywhere
And you can also follow your instincts by seeing places that result in pleasant surprises
The discovery of Mr. Blue was very good, because it is a quiet place, with rich food
very friendly people and a quiet place to eat and breakfast in the center of Zacatecas
Of the things that should be done is to take a journey of legends
Of course some things are true, others are just a product of popular culture
For example, Hotel Mesón de Jobito
is known for being one of the hotels in Mexico with greater paranormal activity
according to its guests
It is located a few steps from the Alameda and 5 blocks from the Cathedral and Plaza de Armas
Unusual things are reported in room 107 of the five-star hotel
curiously the most requested
They say that this room belonged to Don Jobito
a man who took care of the place and that there is even a pink quarry sculpture in his honor
Those who stay there say they feel strange things
However, the building of 1700, is part of the colonial jewels of the Historic Center
distinguished as one of the best hotels in the center of Zacatecas
Nearby, 56 km away is the archaeological site of "La Quemada"
represents the most important monumental settlement in the northern center of Mexico for its architecture
In the place there is a large Hall of Columns with its square
a field for the big ball game in the traditional "I"
and a pyramid base called the Votiva pyramid
Mining is the main industry in Zacatecas
the Eden mine is one of the main sources of silver
It is a must for all who come for the first time
all with yellow helmets descend in a train of several hundred meters for a trip of just over an hour
Zacatecas is the most romantic city in Mexico
without a doubt it is unbeatable as a destination for weddings and for a couple getaway
Its skies at sunset due to the absence of humidity and its altitude are a spectacle in themselves
the center of the city seems lit by a romance
The texture of the quarry in its facades, the smell of the food
the tranquility and the kindness of its people are things that will captivate you when you come
Cheer up to visit this state
Zacatecas, one more place I can say ... Isaí was here

2018 - Taiwan - Hualien's Marshal Hotel Collapses after Massive 6.4 Earthquake - 6/2/18 - Duration: 1:44.
A hotel on the east coast of Taiwan has collapsed after a 6.4-magnitude earthquake, with other
buildings toppled or damaged. Images on local television showed the Marshal
Hotel in Hualien slanted on its side, partially crumpled into the ground.
Media reports said there were 30 people trapped inside with others crawling to safety.
The fire agency said at least four buildings including another hotel had toppled or been
damaged, with television images showing roads strewn with rubble and cracks in highways.
The port city of Hualien is one of Taiwan's most popular tourist hubs as it lies on the
picturesque east coast rail line and is near to popular Taroko Gorge.
Taiwan's president Tsai Ing-wen said rescuers from around the island were preparing to help.
"We will get into disaster relief work at the fastest speed," she said in a post on
her Facebook page. The quake hit at 10 minutes before midnight
local time around 21 kilometres northeast of Hualien, according to the United States
Geological Survey. It follows almost 100 smaller tremors to have
hit the area in the last three days and comes exactly two years since a quake of the same
magnitude struck the southern Taiwanese city of Tainan, killing more than 100 people.
Taiwan lies near the junction of two tectonic plates and is regularly hit by earthquakes.

PBS Hawai'i - HIKI NŌ Episode #901 | McKinley High School - Oah'u | Prince Hotel Art - Duration: 3:27.
[CHANTING]
The Hawai'i Prince Hotel Waikiki was established in 1990.
Twenty-six years later, they embarked on a full hotel transformation, rebranding to the
Prince Waikiki.
The new design is inspired by the hotel's rich history.
They discovered that before it was the hotel twenty-five years ago, it was a muliwai.
And that muliwai is a place where the fresh water meets the ocean, and it creates these
undulations in the sand and the water.
Locally acclaimed artist Kaili Chun took inspiration from the muliwai
to design the hulali i ka la,
the ceiling installation hanging in the new Prince Waikiki.
For me, the hinana, I gravitated to it, because it's the baby 'o'opu.
And also, I had a dream one evening, and it was about the reflection of the sun on the
surface of the water.
So, I kind of took those elements, as well as the muliwai
and the little ripples that it makes.
We did a lot of design work early on,
making prototypes of different shapes, different materials.
We were given a framework to work with, so you know, came up with the copper, came up
with the shape, came up with the form and the texture of the pieces, and proceeded to
make a model, a one-to-one model of this thing.
And we could figure out how we wanted to curve everything across the ceiling.
Phase 2 was discovering that we should let the employees make some.
And I think just the process itself is Hawaiian.
You know, like …
Nobody builds a fishpond on their own.
Exactly.
So …
It's all about the community.
Yeah.
And the family.
And so, when you're looking at the hotel and all of the employees, and literally their
families participated in this, you know, that's a very Hawaiian thing.
Once I got involved, it was just amazing.
It was very exciting, I think, for us as employees to be a part of the whole art piece.
It was a nice way to kind of say: This is where we are, and this is our people, and
our culture, and this is very important.
And with this rebranding, I think it kind of moved right into that little niche.
The hulali i ka la is more than just a piece of artwork in a hotel -- it's a story hammered
through memories by those with ties to the Prince Waikiki.
This is Tayron Alamag from President William McKinley High School, for HIKI NŌ.
