Revelation chapter 22 suppose you're going through the mall shopping
somewhere and you saw at the little state agency a sign said free a
beautiful new home in a perfect city with pure water permanent lighting no
electric bills all permanent payment in a perfect environment good neighbors
good people all over town zero percent crime beautiful music provided immunity
from all diseases and accidents no medical bills free transportation and
much more and you saw that sign what would you do you rekin you would
inquire you don't have to pay thirty three years it's free well that's what
you have in Revelation chapter 21 chapter 22 God has a description of a
beautiful new home in a perfect city and it's free if you want to go you can go
and let's look at today in Revelation chapter 22 it's good to be in God's
house I'd better be here than the best doctors office and Eastern North
Carolina and I've been in a lot of mini to North got it at any last few months
I'll tell you that and I don't like that up I don't know maybe I'm hard to see
yeah let's read the Revelation chapter 22 the first five verses and he showed
me a pill he showed me a pure river of water of
life clear as crystal proceeding out of the throne of God and of the lamb in the
midst of the street of it and on either side of the river
was there a tree the Tree of Life which
the Tree of Life which bare twelve manner of fruits and yielded her fruit
every month and the leaves of the trees were for the healing of the nation's
and there shall be no more curse but the tool of God and of the lamb should be in
it and his servants shall serve him and they shall see his face and his name
should be in their foreheads and there should be no night there they need no
candle need the light of the Sun for the Lord of God giveth him light and they
shall reign forever and ever and the saved on time this drop down to verse 11
he that is unjust let him be unjust to you he dead still to many fitness to you
and he that is righteous let him II right to steal and he that is holy then
be wholly steal and the hold on come quickly and my mower my reward is with
me to give every man according as his work shall be
I'm Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end the first and the last and by
the way back in chapter 21 verse 5 and the 6 God sitting on the throne said I
am Alpha and Omega and that's the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet
he said I'm the a and I'm the sea and I'm everything in between
and God said that's who he was and now Jesus says that's who he is because we
believe in the Trinity the Bible teaches that God the Father God the Son or one
of the same person God the Father God the Son God the Holy Spirit
it's a triune God now verse 14 says blessed are they that do His
commandments there go the translation you find will say blessed are they they
have washed their robes that they may have right to the Tree of Life and back
in Revelation chapter 7 verse 14 we saw a group of people in heaven and John
asked well who are they and the answer was there
those people have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb
and that's what the Greek was the same and so the best of they they have washed
their robes that they may have right to the Tree of Life and may enter in
through the gates into the city but without or outside that the city or
domes does that mean no dogs go to heaven
well that's a Bible word for false prophets Paul said in Philippians
chapter 3 beware of dogs he won't on my full leg he kind is that
two-legged time that are false prophets that preach the Bible in a perverted way
but without a dogs and sorcerers and whoremongers and murderers and
adulterers and who settled over to make up the lie I Jesus have sent mine angel
to testify unto you these things in the churches I am the root and the offspring
of David that means I made David and I came from David Jesus created everything
according Colossians 1:16 but yet if you trace this genealogy back it goes back
to David so he's the one that made David and also he sprang from David's
genealogy or from the bloodline that David was in so I'm the root in the
offspring of David and the bright morning star the spirit and the bride
say come that him that here is say come let him
that is athirst common who suffer will let him come and take the water life
freely for testifying every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of
this book notice that word prophecy if I testified every man that heareth the
words of this prophecy of this book If any man shall add unto these things God
shall add unto Him the plagues that are written in this book and that's a lot of
plagues in this book now verse 19 If any man shall take away from the words of
the book of this prophecy God shall take away his part at the book of life
out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book he was
justified these things saith surely I come quickly amen even so come Lord
Jesus the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all amen that's all Stan's
just a moment to pray I wonder if you were having an operation because she had
counselor in your tongue you had to cut your tongue out and they said never just
before we put you to sleep have you got any last words you want to say and you
need those be the last words you ever uttered I wonder what you say last words
important and so we come to the last message of the Bible I think it's
important so listen this morning give God your undivided attention let's bow
our heads for just a moment of Prayer I probably thank you this morning for
the Bible and I pray that you would just give divine enablement for me to bring
this message in such a way it would be a blessing to the people of God we thank
you for everyone that's here Lord bless each one accorded that particular need
we pray that Lord for some that was saved in center school this morning I
understand Lord I pray you'd move in this service in the wonderful way save
the most reclaimed backsliders best of people we pray in Jesus name and do it
all I pray the name of Jesus might be exalted and magnified in Christ's name
for his glory we pray amen amen thank you may be seeking
john was an apostle and a prophet and he saw all the way from New Testament times
he described the churches and things going on in New Testament times 2,000
years ago but he saw all the way through the church age and rotted into eternity
the book of Revelation is a prophecy four times in this chapter is called a
prophecy in verse hidden verse 10 verse 18 and verse 19 is called a prophecy and
it deals with the future and here today in Revelation chapter 22 God curses
right on to the brink of eternity and tells us what it's going to be like as
eternity begins and I want you to know seeds final things here imma call them
the final things in Revelation chapter 22 as we come to the close of the Canon
Scripture eternity has begun the stage is set for the final time
where we're dwell for ever and ever and I wish those these final things notice
first of all our final home in Revelation chapter 22 the first five
verses you have a description and some continuation of what begin in chapter 21
there are many scenic wonders in the book of Revelation and we saw one last
week in Revelation chapter 21 is he described the New Jerusalem that holy
city the capital city I'll be turning to and it had 12 gates each one a pearl had
balls like clear diamonds but it looked like gold the whole city is made out of
transparent gold like clear glass according to Revelation 21 verse 18 and
it has the glory of God inside of it and I think the glory of God and there's no
Sun in the room but the glory of God is what gives light in heaven and I think
God's glorious is shining through these walls in jasper and the twelve
foundations each one is of some kind of precious jewel and don't be afraid of
that a lot of minute only diamond ever bought got in a lot of trouble they
don't like to think about jewelry much and so don't let that get your turn off
but it's going to be a dazzling site I believe with all that light
shining through these precious stones and their different colors it's going to
be advancing and then as we read the own in chapter 22 we see in verse 1 there's
going to be a river of life also there's going to be a tree of life in verse 2
that's not going to be like the trees down here that yield fruit every year
but it's going to yield fruit every month and not only every month but it
has 12 different kinds of fruit and the most trees out here you know the apple
tree over there peach tree but you don't give it one kind of fruit off of each
tree but here they have trail amount of fruit each month or these two bear fruit
every month to me and they have 12 different kinds of fruit on those trees
and then in verse 3 it tells us there's gonna be no more curse what's wrong with
this world what's wrong with my body we are under curse
and if you don't understand Genesis chapter 3 and Romans chapter 5 then you
will understand what's happening in this world we were cursed by seeing and
that's the only explanation to explain what's happening
can you consience can philosophers explain why we are dying while we're
aging and wild teeth the phone out of hair is turning gray our fascia getting
wrinkled and we're dying how many breathe you're not ever going
to die we're gonna believe it is support on the meeting wants to die you might be
a scripting you might be a 80s might be unbelievable but you still going to die
and you cannot deny that Bible verse it's important men once to die and all
this teaching about the curse but thank God in heaven that's gonna be no world
curse no more tears no more sorrow no more curse which is tears and sorrow and
pain and suffering and get this result of the curse that we are under now verse
5 I rather I'm sorry burst forth says will see his face and his name should be
in our forehead I think most people would not like the name of Jesus
tattooed in their forehead but I think in heaven we weren't proudly
will be glad that we can have his brand his staff on us now that's my thinking
you might have some different ideas about it but we'll see God's face you
know he's going to dwell among us will be his people that's not gonna be an
exemple that God Himself will be right there
in heaven we're drilling God's presence and that's what's going to make it so
wonderful because God's presence bring fullness of joy to those that knew him
and again it says there'd be no night there in verse five and in last part of
verse five says he'll reign forever and ever and by the way people asked well
what are we gonna do in heaven the last part of verse three says his servant
shall serve Him now you won't be out witnessing two lost souls cost won't be
neither but in heaven I don't think I said it's fun just sit down and turn
your thumbs they got nothing to do I think being active doing something you
love to do is a whole lot more fun and a lot more pleasure and in heaven I think
you have a consuming desire you like to drag some flesh around with you but you
have a new body that were wont to serve God just like the new nature you have
mammals to serve God and you want to serve Him and you'll feel good and
you'll just be always enjoy and serving him day and night but it won't be
tonight there just be one eternal day of happiness but you'll feel good your food
feel full of energy in your new body and you'll just love God and you'll love the
people of God and be your advocate atmosphere of love and beauty
no tears and heartaches and sorrows but we'll just serve Him in a wonderful
glorious environment in a beautiful dazzling city called the New Jerusalem
I'm ready bro I'm past it now so we see the final home of the save but we're
drilled in the sweet by and by but let's move on we see the final state of the
Lost people too in verse 11 he that is unjust let him be unjust steal he then
it's tilted let me felt this till he that is righteous led me right to steal
he that is holy let him be holy still I mean when in terms of Don's if you're
saved you'll always be saved because if you're lost you'll always be lost there
will be any second chances won't be any conversions after eternity begins if you
are found unjust that means you're not saved then that's where you'll be
throughout eternity verse 15 says also for without that'll mean you know right
outside the city wall but it means that they're not allowed to come in that
beautiful city back in chapter 21 and verse 26 27 it says verse or not and any
wise getting into if anything that could file them noting that the file so
without a dog these are throughout the scriptures in Isaiah 56 and I believe
verse ii 11 it talks about these dumb dogs that came bark
he's talking about the prophets that should be warning people back in our
says day but they didn't warn people they wouldn't preach the word and they
were called dumb dogs because the dog is supposed to warn you when the burglar
comes at night but the Bible compares preachers that won't preach about seeing
judgment and he'll and things are unpleasant it compares him to dumb dogs
that will not bark and so outside that city these false prophets will be and
also the sorcerers and whoremongers and the murderers and idolaters and
whosoever loveth and make it for life I mean that God's the children love the
truth but a lot of the people who were loved alive and then believed in line
before the wheel the truth I mean Jesus says I'm the truth but people reject him
and believe some sort of worldly philosophy oh they have their own
ideology or their own worldview so the Bible is saying outside that city and
there is different interpretations about that but now in Revelation chapter 21
verse 8 right in the middle of this description that was in chapter 21 verse
1 it tells us about the final home of the unsaved people
Novation 21 verse 8 but the fearful and even in the abdominal and the
murderers and whoremongers and sorcerers and idolaters and all Liars shall have
their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone which is the
second death the Bible teaches us an awful turbot place for unsaved people
and they won't be in that holy city that you Jerusalem they will be in heaven but
they'll be outside and other would be outside other scriptures chose to is
there beyond the lake of fire and that's what the Bible says I remember one time
where a skeptic said to a new convert and the new convert was talking about
hill east and they asked well where is hail a new convert said at the end of
the crisis life
and I don't think a better answer could be given the Bible always subscribe hail
is down underneath but then he turned it to this lake of fire would not
necessarily be inside the earth like hell is right now but it would be a lake
of fire that's where the Bible to describe describes it and then that's
the turbo fault now if you ever think about a lake of fire and the Bible says
I sold over in Revelation chapter 20 verse 15 whosoever was not found written
in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire that is he turned home of
people that are not safe and so we see the final state of the unsaved we seem
to follow home of the same people but now let's look at one more thing that's
more pleasant let's look at the final invitation this is the last invitation
in the Bible thank God well the invitation when Jesus said come
unto me all ye the labor heavy laden I'll give you rest but here in
Revelation chapter 22 verse 17 it seems like God says then before I close the
scripture I want to beg you one more time to come and be saved and so in
verse 17 and the spirit and the bride say come
but heaven here say calm and that hymn does the thirst come and whosoever will
let him take the water of life freely a wonderful invitation everybody's invited
everybody hears about it should invite others
that here should say come the Spirit of God has called you if you'll just listen
this morning God will speak you the spirit says come the church the bride is
saying come ritchie total said in khong that once that here it should say come
to others in other words we hear it every I should say I came and it's
wonderful it's good you ought to come and then let him that is athirst come if
you're thirsty you want a better life you're not happy then without God then
you should come and then it says whosoever will let him take the little
light freedom and who is not included in that if a person goes hell's own fault
God has invited us to come and take of this water of life jesus said if hidden
then first seven come to me and drink he gives living water he gives the world
of life it's called it's just another name for salvation and forgiveness and
eternal life that we have in Jesus Christ and what's the last word in verse
17 tell me free what does that mean you can
come as Isaiah chapter 55 verse one says ho everyone that thirst him come either
have the money let him come and buy without money without price it's free
and that those that say you've got to do good works the Mormons teach that did
your homies witness teach that and a lot of others teach that you are saved by
works you got to do something you got to live above sin you got to live with us
in this life you got to keep the commandments and the people have a whole
rigmarole of things you got to do to be saved but the Bible says it's free the
wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ
our Lord Romans 6:23 bank back in chapter 21 verse 6 let me read that
revelation I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of
life freely it's always free if you go to church you listen somebody
on television they tell you you got to do something be safe if you just move
your little finger I'll be baptized or whatever they say you got to do
something be safe you know you listen to folks clapping on what it's talking
about cause the Bible says for by grace are you saved through faith it's not in
yourselves it's the gift of God it's not of works lest any man should boast it's
free is that what your Bible says now we've seen it in so many verses so give
that clean mind Bible salvation is free and that's wonderful I think maybe I'm
including sin but I think only a fool would be fused this invitation but you
can have all your sins forgiven you can be in right relationship with God you
miss hell you go to heaven be happy forever and it's all free if you just
come that's what you got to come to Jesus and take it's free just like for
your Christmas present all you got to do is reach out your hand and take it and
receive it and when you receive Jesus Christ then you become a child of God
according John 1 verse 12 and the Bible says you can come and take up a little
life freely and so we have the final invitation in the Bible and it might be
the final invitation you'll ever hear if you're not saved and you reject this one
God does not guarantee you that you'll never have another chance to be saved
God says in Genesis 6 verse 3 my spirit will not always strive with man you
don't ever know when you're going to have your last chance I found out in
this life you can be get along just fine and sitting on top of the world and then
all of a sudden you have a stroke or you have something happens and your life has
completely changed it's nothing you do better and so we've
got to serve God you better be saved better taking opportunities why we have
them because this is the last invitation this is the final invitation Bible God
just want to give you one more invitation to come and take his
salvation freedom now once you notice something else the final warning in the
Bible the final warning verse 18 says for I've just found every man that
heareth the words of the prophecy of this book
if any man shall take away or other in men's to add do these things gods will
add to him the plagues that are written in this book and then in the next verse
it tells us not to take away from in other words don't add to God's words you
don't take away from it and you drawn to chapter 4 verse 2 God tells us not to
add to his word let me tell it would read you to opt in for verse 2 you shall
not add unto the word which I command you this day
neither show you diminish all from it
the Bible says in proverbs chapter 30 verse 5 6 ever the word of God is pure
he says shield to those who put their trust in him and not unto his words lest
he reprove you and you'd be found alive over dope in the Bible it says don't add
to the Word of God therefore a king danger ho Killman the book of jeremiah
chapter 32 no I believe this chapter 36 sure about that chapter 36 death
Jeremiah had written part of his book on the scroll and they came in Riddick and
for the king Jeremiah was looked at as a traitor because he predicted that
Babylon was going to conquer Judah and he was recommending that we surrender to
the enemy so he wouldn't be destroyed and you can imagine how to ever go over
if somebody was saying well we should submit it to the tourists and so
Jeremiah was rejected put in prison and the king and a lot of others did not
like his message but listen we're not here to win a popularity contest we're
here to do God's will and tell the truth say Amen right there
and so when the King heard the word that was read to him Bobby tells dear about
36 23 that he said okay I don't like that verse and so he took out his knife
and he cut that right out it just clicked that that word the drew mine cut
that out put in the fire I can read me some more and he read some
more and he didn't like that either so he cut it out and throw that in the fire
and he kept right on to the got the whole Book of Jeremiah or all that was
written at that time and throwed in the fire but that's not the end of the story
the Bible tells us down injure my chapter 36 verse 30 therefore thus saith
the Lord of jeho Kim king of Judah he shall have
none to sit upon the throne of David and his dead body shall be cast out indeed
to the heat and in light to the frost I would punish him and his seed and his
servants for their iniquity no so tells us in verse 32 Jim I took another road
and gave it to you in subscribe and they just wrote the words that jean king
jehoshaphat thrown into the fire and added some more to them like judgments
to this we could King but I said all that to say this God does not want
people to add to his word he's got the Bible just like he loves it and we
should just read the Bible and heed the Bible not insert our opinions not
interpreted according to our denomination just read the Word of God
it's perfect just like it is and God pronounces a curse upon those that add
to the Word of God or if you take away from it and there's a lot of them to do
that have you ever seen that advertisement the Church of Jesus Christ
of latter-day saints and they want to give you a new testament that is it's
not the regular New Testament but it says one in addition
to the Bible one to Joseph Smith and others right they called the Book of
Mormon the book of morons to be a better name for it I mean that's blasphemy
you're doing exactly what God said dump - not only to add a few verses but
they've got a whole new Testament I
think when the Roman Catholics say that Catholic teaching and church dogma of
when this Pope speaks the extra feature oh if I pronounced that right and then
whatever he speaks officially in public it's the same authority as the Word of
God church tradition has the same authority as the Word of God I mean for
example they open and say well we changed baptism the original way was by
inertia but we sprinkled nobody has that kind of authority
we'll have you thought you to change God's Word and we can add to it in
different ways I think when a person says you've got to do a certain works to
be saved I think that adding to the Word of God and fasten your seat belts but I
think every time the Karris Mattox get up in talking tongues get a new
revelation from God hid the word of knowledge of the word of wisdom they
call it and make prophecies they were happen to the Word of God and the Spirit
of God can deal with your heart and you deal with mine many times he can lead us
and guide us he can illuminate us but he don't give us new revelations to add to
the Word of God so many of them was set up and saying you know well they're
talking unknown tongue didn't somebody come along interpret it and say well
what you said was Jesus will come in the year 2005 in fact I'll say there's been
a thousand people that spoke in tongues and was interpreted and they said a date
when Jesus would come
and people have all kinds of revelations a woman called me not long ago and says
she had a dream about our church and she wanted to tell me about it because she
felt so strong about it I told I was interested in the dreams and visions I
was interested in the written word of God I tell you what do you need what a
new revelation you having read this one yet
that's enough here to keep you busy for a while and people won't know about the
DaVinci Code or some other code to understand the deep things of the Bible
that nobody can understand why don't you just do the things you do understand
like that should I kill thou shalt not steal coming to me seek you first the
kingdom of God I mean what part of that don't you understand see and that's what
we need to do I try to see some deep stuff Bible nobody can understand some
code and it's amazing that The DaVinci Code is our bestseller people keep on
buying that and it's all fabrication it's all just to work on something
perverted mine I mean they say that Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and
to have a child by her is that adding to the Word of God and so they bring upon
themselves are awful curse God says I Maggie the plagues that are written in
this book and if you take away from the Bible but you're doing you're saying the
Bible is not really inspired it's not complete and so you hadn't dude you've
taken away and God's come tickling your part out of the tree of life or at the
middle the one of life and say well it's a serious thing let's take heed this
warning this is the final warning the Bible is a lot of warnings in the Bible
we can preach a sermon on their Lorna's in the Bible in fact we have done it but
uh but this is the final warning and I've got the clues because I'm
supposed to be preaching short sermons these days in Revelation chapter 20
verse 20 we've looked at the final home of the saved
it's a beautiful wonderful place you don't want to miss it also we looked at
the final state of the lost their outside this beautiful perfect city this
is wonderful heaven that we're told now and we looked at the final invitation
God invites you to come to Christ and pick up your salvation
the water of life and then we looked at the final warning don't add to the Word
of God don't take away from it it's perfect just like it is all Scripture is
given by inspiration of God it's profitable
it'll make you complete and perfect it as far as we're doing the work of God's
concern you have what you need in the Bible you don't need new revelations
you'll need new books and you ways of doing things get back to the old ways
all right now let's look at the final promise in the Bible verse 20 he would
specify these things saith surely I come quickly and so Jesus has promised and if
you have a Bible read his words in red you see that's in red I'm gonna have a
Bible of Jesus words in red most of us do and so it's what Jesus has said I'm
coming quickly you don't mean I'm coming in or a short
time but it means I'm coming when I come home coming fast and Paul explained that
he's going to come in a moment in a twin
bed that says behold I come quickly my reward is with me then somebody says
well he died he's gone on to meet his reward
Oh rewards of even Jesus comes that's where the judgments in Christ and you're
counting time take place as a Christian but in verse 12 he says behold I come
quickly and back in verse 7 he says behold I come quickly three times he's
telling us that he's coming back again in this one chapter
and God the one that God doesn't have to say but one time to make it true someone
who says when Jesus comes they're coming fears and cheers and Tears there's going
to be cheers because the Bible says in first Corinthians 4:5 every man that is
there to say personally have praise of God I'm think even those slight
creatures like most of us we won't get much reward but yet to see the beauty
and the awesomeness the wonder of the glory the splendor of
heaven and we'll be happy we will say praise God I'm here now have a big crowd
of a head but thank God I'm here I got the new body now I'm here praise God and
everybody's going to have praise for God we're cheers they praise the Lord and
all certain it's going to be some theaters because lot folks not ready to
not save or else they're not serving God the Bible says now let's earn abide in
him - when he shall appear we may have confidence and not be ashamed before him
at his coming in order to be people it's going to be
ashamed and afraid it's time before God because they haven't been faithful and
there can be some tears maybe gonna be fears and tears and tears because at the
judgment you might see low souls that you work with you could have been a
witness to and you should have been a witness to but yet they are banished
forever from the presence of God and you might shed a tear when you see them go
and remember the lost opportunity that you've had the time you wasted that you
could have served God been faithful laid up treasures in heaven one source of
Christ better influence makes your life count for Jesus but you didn't do it and
there's a lot of debate about whether convenient ears some people say well if
you don't have any tears God came like related tears and others say well that's
not going to be the more death and pain you mean it's gonna be death in heaven
and God's gonna have to wipe that away how can you like way death cuz it's not
into the earth would that be the same kind of logic but anyway I'll be the
will be some regrets when Jesus comes again but he's coming now he said three
in this chapter alone I'm coming and when I come I'm coming quickly you not
gonna have time to pitch you're not gonna have time to serve me there's the
time to do that but you can you can go to the bicone as they say you can you
you can mark it down Jesus Christ is coming back and it's not as far off as
it has been yes I believe Tommy's been it out and
the last promise in the Bible it he's saying if the next-to-last first of all
he says I'm coming back again and I'm coming quickly how can you believe that
Jesus coming could be very soon you know my feelings and somebody that it's not
gonna be long off a lot of people all and you'll find that of Christians all
around the world feel the same way I was reading where one woman that was
hittable tract Society of in fact that's a good news tract society that we get
some tract is one of the biggest witness in the world in fact and she said it was
traveling all over the world and she said to make this statement that
Christians all over the world are looking for Jesus to return and they
think it might be soon okay so the final promise is just before the counter
scripture closes jesus said I'm coming back be ready are you ready for eternity
this is what we talk about this is the dawn of eternity these are the finest
things the stage is set and it's not going to be any changing however he
turns it finds you that's the way you're gonna be but now let's notice the final
prayer or the final pre-plea in the last part of verse 20 Jesus City should I
come quickly and John says even so come Lord Jesus I find myself saying that
sometimes lately he was her come Lord Jesus about back about 30 or 40 years
ago there was a popular song that was sung in the churches wait a little
longer please Jesus there's so many wandering out in sin wait a little
longer please Jesus a few more days to get our loved ones in
it is certainly good do you stop and analyze it about the Scriptures no the
Bible says that Christians must going to be praying that Jesus will put off his
coming Vince boat beats praying or Jesus come quickly because the longer he turns
and more people going to hail the worst things have yet the Bible says that
we're spending looking for that blessed hope and the glorious appearing of the
Great God and Savior Jesus Christ the Bible says in Psalm 130 verse five and
six David said I would look for the Lord woman they didn't watch for the morning
we supposed to love his appearing he's coming now look at the found a
benediction and I'll say my benediction along with this verse 21 the grace of
our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all this is what we need grace this god's
emergent favor you don't need justice you need grace
and he pronounces a benediction of grace upon us all that's it closer you know
what the last words are in the Old Testament the last word is curse let's
