Melania Trump made her second public appearance since her kidney surgery Wednesday afternoon

when she joined the president at a briefing on hurricane preparedness at FEMA.

The president, reading from a note card, introduced 'our great First Lady' at the briefing and

said: 'She went through a little rough patch but she's doing great.'

The room applauded the first lady at his words.

'The people love you ... thank you, honey,' he added and reached out to touch her hand.

The first lady sat next to the president during the briefing.

Reports from in the room said she looked well and health.

She wore a tan trench coat and 'hurricane heels' as her stilettos were named when she

wore a pair in route to Texas to survey damage from Hurricane Harvey.

Melania Trump typically wears high heels and is rarely seen in flats or sneakers.

She did not speak at the briefing when reporters were present in the room.

She sat quietly during the president's remarks, looking at him as he spoke and also around

the table as Trump called out members of his cabinet, for acknowledgement and accolades.

After the briefing, the president and first lady visited the National Response Coordination

Center.

Melania Trump walked around the room to shake hands with workers.

After the FEMA visit, the couple returned to the White House where they were seen holding

hands after exiting the motorcade.

It was Melania Trump's second public appearance this week.

She attended a White House reception for Gold Star families on Monday night, which marked

her 25th day she had not been seen in public since the White House announced she underwent

a kidney procedure.

Earlier on Wednesday, Trump fired off an attack about the questions that arose from her long

stay outside the public eye.

Trump wrote that the press reported 'everything' from that his wife was 'near death' to having

'left' the White House or had a facelift.

He also claimed, without providing any specifics or explanation, that the press had reported

she had left him or been abused.

'The Fake News Media has been so unfair, and vicious, to my wife and our great First Lady,

Melania.

During her recovery from surgery they reported everything from near death, to facelift, to

left the W.H. (and me) for N.Y. or Virginia, to abuse.

All Fake, she is doing really well!' Trump wrote.

Then further he claimed the press had covered up her presence at the White House.

'Four reporters spotted Melania in the White House last week walking merrily along to a

meeting.

They never reported the sighting because it would hurt the sick narrative that she was

living in a different part of the world, was really ill, or whatever.

Fake News is really bad!'

At least one reporter, from CNBC, tweeted out a Melania sighting, which DailyMail.com

and other publications tracking her disappearance from public view reported.

The first lady made her first public post-surgery appearance Monday night at an event closed

to the press honoring Gold Star families.

DailyMail.com ran images obtained from inside the closed event.

She did not attend the flag-waving 'Celebration of America' event on Tuesday afternoon.

Socceroos fans to pay to watch World Cup at public square - Duration: 5:57.

Socceroos fans hoping to watch the FIFA World Cup at one of the most iconic public spaces in New South Wales will have to pay for the privilege

Parramatta's Centenary Square, which organisers Global Public Events claim is "Australia's biggest World Cup live site", will screen all three group matches involving the Socceroos with 'first-release tickets' selling on Thursday for between $27 and $28

Family tickets were going for a heftier $84.98, even for Australia's match against Peru, which kicks off at midnight on the morning of Wednesday, June 27

The space holds approximately 7000 people and those behind the event say that if Australia scores at sport's biggest event, the venue will be "better than it will be in Russia"

Promoters also explained that included in the ticket price was entertainment, with DJs and bands to feature, access to a bar, food trucks and "big sound and lighting"

Others are not so convinced, though, with Socceroos Active Support organiser Blayne Treadgold describing the event as "disappointing" and a "money grab"

"As a football fan, I don't think anyone should be paying to watch their football team [on television]," he told

"Every four years, the nation comes together to support the country."It's quite disappointing and unfortunate that companies only want to get involved in football every four years

"Socceroos Active Support has organised 14 live venues for football fans to watch Australia games, with all being free of charge

Included are pubs in London and New York and Treadgold urged fans to head to these venues instead to experience a proper football atmosphere

"All our live sites are fan driven," he said."Socceroos Active Support is a not-for-profit fan group

The atmosphere at our venues will be more authentic, like football fans expect."We're also keen to push and support venues who support football all year round … not pubs who jump on the bandwagon

"'A simulated stadium atmosphere'Global Public Events co-founder Lui Spedaliere told the Parramatta live site would be a success and that a deal with Melbourne's Federation Square fell over due to "timing issues"

"Why would you watch it on a little TV for free, when you could experience a stadium-like atmosphere for $25?" she said

"We expect it to be sold out. I can't see why people wouldn't want to be there."We are creating a simulated stadium atmosphere … it is going to be a roaring success

"Spedaliere explained that at Centenary Square, fans would be able to watch on two 33-square-metre screens and would witness an "amazing light show and sound effects" if the Socceroos score a goal

She was also keen to push a significant security presence, hailing the co-ordination between her group, police and the City of Parramatta Council, and an "activation" with A-League club Western Sydney Wanderers

Posting on Twitter to promote the event, City of Parramatta Councillor Steven Issa admitted his excitement was "dampened" after learning fans would have to pay to access the event

He later told that fans would be "paying for the experience"."The event obviously has costs associated with it, predominantly security," Cr Issa said

"When you get an event like this, with two 33-square-metre screens, food trucks, a bar … you are paying for the experience

"Cr Issa added that he understood members of the Western Sydney Wanderers and My Football Family were eligible for a $5 discount on the ticket price

Federal School Safety Commission Holds First Public Session. DeVos Wasn't There - Duration: 6:01.

Federal School Safety Commission Holds First Public Session. DeVos Wasn't There

The Trump administrations school safety commission held its first public listening session Wednesday, a day after the panels chair, Education Secretary Betsy DeVos, told lawmakers on Capitol Hill that the commission wouldnt focus on guns.

Alessia Modjarrad, a graduating high school senior from Montgomery County, Md., spoke at the day-long event at the Education Department in D.C. She said the few solutions being offered by the administration were misguided and insufficient..

I would ask to please consider the possibilities that guns are the most important aspect of the purview of this commission, Modjarrad said. Then she issued a challenge.

I would ask Secretary DeVos and the federal commission to take on the burden of positive, ever-lasting change from school children and heavily reconsider the current complicit stance on the role of guns in school safety.

That challenge will have to be relayed to DeVos at a later time. DeVos didnt attend the listening session.

She was in Switzerland where shes set to deliver a keynote address at forum exploring apprenticeship programs and primary and vocational school education in the Netherlands, according to a press release by the Education Department.

On Tuesday, DeVos was asked by Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., during a Senate subcommittee hearing: So, you are studying gun violence, but not considering the role of guns?. DeVos responded: That is not part of the commissions charge, per se.

President Trump established the school safety commission in response to the mass shooting in February at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, where 17 students and faculty were killed.

When established in March, one of the stated goals in the White House release was a focus on age restrictions for certain firearms purchases. During Wednesdays listening session, Deputy Education Secretary Mick Zais tried to clarify how the commission would handle guns.

After citing a Congressional Research Service report that found there are approximately 300 million firearms in the U. , he said the commission would be exploring narrow aspects of gun ownership.

The commission will not be looking at ways to confiscate those weapons or abrogate the second amendment, but what we will be doing is looking at specific age limits for the purchase of specific kinds of weapons, Zais said.

And we will be examining legal procedures for the confiscation of weapons from people with identified mental health issues. What it means to be safe.

Students have been a prominent voice in the gun discussion following the high profile shootings in Parkland and in Santa Fe, Texas last month.

And this was the first time the public had an opportunity to offer suggestions to the commission on how to make schools safer. Michael Yin, another Montgomery Country student said that school shootings are not unthinkable, theyre expected.

We students feel and we know that something is very, very wrong in our schools, Yin said. He urged the panel to listen to the voices in the school, not those calling for more guns in school.

Politicians have come up with some good ideas, but if we really want to end these tragedies, we need to listen to the people closest to the school system.

One idea that is a little worrying though is arming school staff, Yin said. Amanda Fitzgerald the Director of Public Policy at the American School Counselor Association agrees.

We strongly oppose any effort to arm educators in our schools or any proposal that would offer financial incentives for educators to carry firearms, Fitzgerald said.

Pamela Champion, who lost her son, Robert Champion, a drum major at Florida A&M University, to hazing incident on a band bus said she is all too aware about the safety and the impact of violence within our schools.

She said the commission should not only focus on the role of guns but the environment within schools, too. We should expand and clarify what is deemed as school safety. What does school safety look like for various communities? Champion asked.

She said that school safety should not be measured just by the absence of violence but how well schools can build emotional and social tolerance.

The commission has held a number of closed-door sessions in recent weeks, including one with survivors of the Parkland and the Columbine High School shooting in 1999. And Last week it held a field hearing in Hanover, Maryland.

The Federal Commission on School Safety is expected to issue its recommendations by the end of the year.

University of Evansville Public Health Program - Duration: 3:33.

- UE is empowering me to make a difference

in different areas of public health

that I'm passionate about.

- Our Undergraduate Program, again, is differentiated

from other universities, in the fact that we are smaller.

Students have really a one-on-one contact

with their faculty.

We meet with students regularly,

on a daily basis sometimes even, to discuss their

courses and scheduling and just making sure

they're on track to complete their coursework

and their degree.

Furthermore, we engage them in various types

of research opportunities.

We work with them one on one

to make sure that they get the appropriate internships

that they desire so they are able to have those

hands on practical public health experiences.

- My classes are wonderful.

Their classes are small.

10 people per class on average is,

I mean you couldn't ask for something better.

- [Kendra] One of reasons that I chose UE

was because I wanted to come to a place

where I felt comfortable approaching faculty,

specifically my advisor.

- We have a very diverse faculty,

ranging from a number of research interests.

For example, my research interests lie in the area

of environmental health, health policy.

Our other public health faculty,

her interests lie in the area of maternal and child health.

- Very often I've had comments from students

discussing how much they enjoy their classes,

how they felt that it was a dynamic way of

learning about public health issues

and how all of that really lends itself to

making them very prepared for the job market.

I'm a firm believer in teaching students

how to think and not exactly what to think about

and I feel that having that close interaction

really helps me to develop their mind and guide them.

- We have an Undergraduate Program and a Graduate Program.

Our Undergraduate Program has two concentration areas.

We have a Bachelor of Science in Public Health

and Health Policy and a Bachelor of Science

in Public Health in Nutrition.

Then also we have a Master of Public Health program

where students can finish the program in two years.

- 4 + 1 Program is excellent because

it's a way for you to get both an undergraduate

and a graduate degree in five years,

which is great because it saves you time

and it saves you money.

- [Anthony] I get to do certain graduate classes

in my fourth year of my bachelor's

at the undergraduate level.

What makes it amazing is that you're getting

so much done in a shorter amount of time.

- Here at University of Evansville, we offer

graduate assistantships to incoming graduate students

and with these assistantships, students are able to

serve as research assistants for faculty,

even serve as teaching assistants

to really get that hands on practical

public health experience.

The Institute for Public Health,

it kind of serves as a collaborative

multi-disciplinary organization

for faculty on campus but also for the community.

We have a number of board members from UE

as well as the community, from health clinics,

hospitals, non-governmental organizations,

and it's just an avenue for everyone to come together

to share ideas, to exchange ideas,

and to identify and target the most prominent

health issues and needs in our community.

Moving was always something that was a bit scary to me.

After finishing high school, I knew I wanted to go far away from home.

But the transition was something I hadn't prepared for.

Minnesota to Los Angeles is a big change.

But my dad knew what needed to happen: A road trip.

When it was time for me to move into my dorm this year, my father and I

packed up a moving truck and drove across the country.

I've never been good at packing, but considering that I was moving

my whole bedroom 2,000 miles away -- my dad provided me with

a few tricks.

Throughout the trip, we experienced so much beauty.

From the mountains of Colorado to deserts of Nevada.

The trip was necessary for me to not only physically move to California,

but also to mentally and emotionally transition to my new life.

I will forever be grateful to my dad for giving me exactly what I needed.

That's my dad.

And that's me.

Oh, and don't mind her.

That's just my sister.

My dad has always been there for us.

Teaching me and my brothers and sisters how to play hard and have fun.

Showing us how to work hard and do things on our own.

Fixing things with our own hands.

And of course, helping us when it's time to move ahead.

It's more than just the physical help he gave.

More than the boxes he helped us move from one place to another.

Or the trailers we'd fill up with all kinds of random things.

Or even the storage units that we'd fill to the brim,

hoping we'd be able to get the doors closed.

It was about the love he would always give us.

Through each stage of our lives.

That we knew he was always there for us.

Whether we needed help finishing a project, or we just needed someone to talk to.

My dad is pretty amazing, and I feel pretty blessed to have him in my life.

Thanks, Dad for pushing me forward and helping me move along through life.
