People should get smarter faster about understanding that business in collaboration

with government, and not-for-profits, can help enhance economic growth.

Economic growth is what drives wages.

It helps people, it creates household formation.

When JPMorgan goes into a community, the physical thing you see is the branch.

But we also have, behind that, mortgage lending.

We bring in philanthropy, which is around work skills, affordable housing.

We support entrepreneurs of color, we support middle market companies.

So, you know, it's the full force and faith of JPMorgan coming in to help a community expand.

Washington is the third largest market in the United States,

if you include the greater Washington area, which includes Maryland and Virginia.

It's the home of our government.

It's a huge tech center.

So it's a great place to do business.

It has wonderful spots, and it has places that need help.

So I was just in Ward 7 and Ward 8, and we have to do a better job as a society figuring

out how we can help folks who need help.

So in the greater Washington area, we'll be opening 70 branches.

So it's not just a branch, it'll be multiple branches that obviously creates jobs.

Directly that's 700 people.

It's lending to local businesses.

It's affordable housing.

It's helping people manage their investments.

Hopefully it helps lift up the community.

I mean, that's why we're doing it and why we work so closely with a lot of local institutions

who know the neighborhoods really well.

Washington DC Street Grid, Explained - Duration: 5:05.

I'm going to explain Washington DC's street grid so that you can navigate the city like a pro.

Hello! Welcome to Trip Hacks DC. My name is Rob.

I'm a tour guide here in the nation's capital.

If you're coming to Washington DC and you're looking for the best tips, tricks, and hacks for exploring the city,

make sure to subscribe to this channel and hit the bell

notification icon so that you don't miss any new videos; and if you're interested in signing up for a Trip Hacks DC tour,

head on over to www.triphacksdc.com afterwards, to see the tours that I offer. In this video

I'm going to tell you about how our street grid works and give you some tips to help

navigate it. If you live in or have been to DC before and have your own tips for navigating the city, leave a comment on

this video and let everyone know what they are, otherwise,

let's get started... The most important thing that you must know about DC's street grid is that it is divided into four

quadrants. The center of the street grid is the Capitol, located right here. From there

the street running directly to the north is called North Capitol Street, directly to the east is East Capitol Street,

directly to the south is South Capitol Street. There is no West Capitol Street because where that would be is actually the National Mall.

Here's where the Lincoln Memorial is over here on the end. From there you can see the four quadrants: NW, NE, SE, and SW.

Whenever you're trying to navigate to an address you need to know which quadrant it's located in. For example,

everyone knows that the address of the White House is 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, right?

Well, the thing is, the actual address of the White House is

1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW. That's important because if you went to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue SE

you would wind up at this apartment building. Now,

it looks like a perfectly nice apartment building, but it's definitely not what most visitors are looking for.

Historically, most visitors spent a bulk of their time in the northwest quadrant, which is why you could get away with saying things like 1600

Pennsylvania Avenue,

because everyone assumed that you were talking about Northwest.

Northwest is where most of the downtown hotels are located as well as a lot of the major tourist sites like the White House,

the National Zoo, and

Georgetown; however

these days, depending on exactly what you want to see and do,

you might wind up in all four quadrants at some point during your trip.

If you're traveling through Union Station, that's over here in northeast, if you want to go to a baseball game,

Nationals Park is over here in southeast, and the brand-new and very cool Wharf development is over here in

southwest. OK, so now that we've covered the quadrants,

let's talk about some of the naming conventions. Starting at the Capitol, numbered streets run north and south. So 1st Street,

2nd Street, 3rd Street, etc.

And remember that officially you have to include the quadrant name at the end of each street.

This stuff is probably the most straightforward. Lettered streets run east and west, but they're a little bit trickier. You start with A Street,

there's actually no B Street anymore because in the 1930s

they were renamed to Independence and Constitution Avenues. Then it goes C, D, E,

etc. until you get up to I Street. It skips over J

because the old fashioned I and J actually looked remarkably similar and they didn't want people to get confused. Then it continues up to W

but skips over X, Y and Z. But wait!.. you're thinking, that's only 22 letters. What happens when they run out? Well,

after W Street

the system switches to using two syllable words starting with the letter of the alphabet that they correspond to. For example Adams,

Bryant, Channing, Douglas, etc.

When you get even higher up they switch from two syllable to three syllable names,

but honestly most visitors probably won't find themselves far enough out of downtown where you will experience this.

So once you're confident in your quadrants, your letters, and your numbers, DC is actually a surprisingly easy city to navigate. But wait!

What about all those avenues that are named after states?

We all know about Pennsylvania Avenue, but each state actually has its own Avenue (except Ohio, which has a drive in California,

which has a street but that's a topic for another video). State avenues run diagonal to the lettered and numbered streets,

but what's annoying and sort of confusing is that they don't run parallel to each other. So for example, Pennsylvania Avenue is over here,

Massachusetts Avenue up here, Louisiana Avenue over here, and New Jersey Avenue over here.

Using these avenues is often the fastest way to get from point A to point B,

and if you're using an app like Google Maps or Citymapper, it might be possible to navigate them.

But if you are relying on your instinct and the street grid alone,

it can get a bit confusing. All of that said, once you get here and get a little practice using it,

it's really not so bad. Just make sure you don't forget which quadrant you're looking for.

If you found these tips helpful, you can subscribe to this channel for more by clicking on the Trip Hacks DC logo

which is popping up right now at the bottom of the screen. Or if you want to sign up for a Trip Hacks DC tour,

✅ Report: Dwight Howard finalized buyout with Brooklyn, to sign with Washington - Duration: 1:53.

Get out the popcorn and get comfortable, because it's really happening: The Washington Wizards, the most dysfunctional locker room in the NBA is about to add Dwight Howard to the mix

Dwight Howard has been traded from Charlotte to Brooklyn, and the Nets have finalized the buyout that will make Howard a free agent, clearing the way for him to be a Wizards

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN broke the story. This was all reported before but couldn't become official until the NBA's signing moratorium was over

Howard replaces Marcin Gortat, who was traded because he doesn't get along with John Wall in a salary dump for Austin Rivers

Howard had a solid season last year in Charlotte, averaging 16.6 points, 12.5 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. Coach Steve Clifford put Howard back in his comfort zones, didn't ask him to do too much, and while things were inconsistent they were not bad for Howard in Charlotte

Of course, Howard's teammates weren't fond of him in Charlotte. Now he goes to a locker room that may be the most dysfunctional in the NBA (and we can throw in Jeff Green for fun as well)

Howard wants to change his reputation, but the rest of us are sitting around with popcorn waiting for the drama to begin

Trump wants Twitter to remove NYT and Washington Post - Duration: 3:04.

As Twitter cracks down on fake profiles, president Donald Trump has a suggestion for which accounts the social media site needs to target next: The Washington Post and New York Times

In a bizarre tweet on Saturday morning, POTUS lashed out at the Post and the Times asking if Twitter will get rid of them

The president then predicted that both newspapers will be out of business soon.'Twitter is getting rid of fake accounts at a record pace,' Trump posted to his 53million followers

'Will that include the Failing New York Times and propaganda machine for Amazon, the Washington Post, who constantly quote anonymous sources that, in my opinion, don't exist

- They will both be out of business in 7 years!' Twitter has stepped up its efforts to remove bogus accounts in recent months amid criticism of harassment and increased scrutiny over reports about how Russian bots tried to manipulate the platform during the 2016 presidential election

According to the Post, the social networking site suspended more than 70million accounts in May and June

Trump has long been critical of what he calls 'fake' media outlets.During a speech on Thursday, the president lashed calling journalists 'downright dishonest' and 'really bad people'

'I see the way they write,' he said during a rally in Montana.'They're so damn dishonest

And I don't mean all of them, because some of the finest people I know are journalists really

Hard to believe when I say that.I hate to say it, but I have to say it.But 75 per cent of those people are downright dishonest

Downright dishonest. They're fake. They're fake.' He continued: 'They make the sources up

✅ Trump augura el fin del New York Times y Washington Post - Duration: 2:18.

WASHINGTON.

Manafort's lawyers ask for trial to be moved away from Washington - Duration: 4:32.

Lawyers for Paul Manafort, President Trump's former campaign chairman, asked a federal judge Friday to relocate a criminal trial starting later this month because of pretrial publicity

The financial crimes trial of Manafort is scheduled to start July 25 in Alexandria, Virginia, just outside Washington, D

C. But his lawyers argued in court papers Friday that it would be impossible for Manafort to receive a fair trial because of the intense media coverage surrounding his case and special counsel Robert Mueller's investigation

They asked for the trial to be relocated to the more sparsely populated city of Roanoke in southwest Virginia

The lawyers say that while the Washington region ranks first in the nation in households with computers and Internet access, "Roanoke is the 70th largest media outlet in the United States and 38 percent of households in Roanoke lack broadband compared to 3 percent in Northern Virginia

"A Google search for news articles about "Russian collusion" turned up 2,900,000 results, and thousands of articles have been focused on Manafort

"Reviewing these articles, one is hard pressed to find any that are not unfavorable to Mr

Manafort," the defense lawyers say.In addition, they say, voters in the Virginia region where jurors would be drawn from voted 2-1 in favor of Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, Mr

Trump's opponent, while "this split is more balanced" in Roanoke

"Nowhere in the country is the bias against Mr. Manafort more apparent than here in the Washington, D

C. metropolitan area," they wrote.Manafort is awaiting trial in Virginia this summer and in federal court in Washington this fall

He faces charges related to his work for pro-Russia Ukrainian political interests

The charges don't relate to the core focus of the Mueller investigation — potential coordination between the Trump campaign and Russia — and prosecutors said in a court filing that they do not intend to raise allegations of collusion

But they do say they plan to present evidence that a bank executive who approved a loan to Manafort expressed interest in working on the Trump campaign, told Manafort about that interest and eventually secured a position advising the Trump campaign

"In short," prosecutors wrote, "the defendant's role with the Trump campaign is relevant and inextricably intertwined with the Lender D bank fraud and bank fraud conspiracy charges

Here, it would be difficult for the jury to understand why the loans were approved without understanding that the lender approved the loans, in spite of the identified deficiencies, because the senior executive factored in his own personal ambition

"Manafort was jailed last month after a federal judge revoked his house arrest over allegations of witness tampering in Mueller's investigation

Defense lawyers said in court papers Thursday that Manafort is locked in a jail cell in Virginia for 23 hours a day, excluding visits from his attorneys, and has been in solitary confinement because the facility can't guarantee his safety

The lawyers are asking a federal appeals court to overturn the judge's order and release him under certain conditions as he awaits trial

The lawyers said his detention makes it "effectively impossible" for Manafort to prepare for trial

They said the judge, Amy Berman Jackson, did not analyze carefully enough whether Manafort had actually committed witness tampering

"Independently, the alleged evidence of obstruction is so thin that it cannot reasonably support the determination that no set of conditions could ensure Mr

Manafort's appearance and the safety of the community," Thursday's court filing states

Manafort is one of four Trump campaign or White House aides to have been charged in Mueller's investigation

Three others — George Papadopoulos, Michael Flynn and Rick Gates — have pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with investigators

Major Scandal In Washington DC – AG Jeff Sessions Caught Obstructing POTUS!!! - Duration: 13:24.

Major Scandal In Washington DC – AG Jeff Sessions Caught Obstructing POTUS!!!

It's been almost one year since White House Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation

into Donald Trump's supposed collusion with Russia during the 2016 election began, and

the president's administration is preparing to pressure him to bring the probe to an end.

Politico reported that Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani said that Mueller should follow

the example former FBI Director James Comey set in 2016, when he investigated and publicly

exonerated Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server.

"When Comey closed [the case] in July — although I think it was a complete whitewash — I'd

like to have them do that for us," the former New York City mayor said.

"Come on!

They've had a whole year," Giuliani said in a recent interview.

"We're going to raise the pressure to try to get this thing over with.

It's gone on long enough."

"In the interest of the country, I think it's time to wrap it up," Vice President

Mike Pence said last week.

However, legal experts have said that Mueller probably will not be moved by pressure from

Trump to end his probe.

"When cases are ripe to be brought, he will bring them," said Peter Zeidenberg, a former

federal prosecutor who served as deputy to special counsel Patrick Fitzgerald during

the Bush-era Valerie Plame CIA leak investigation.

"He won't be doing any press conferences, of course.

So no Comey-like scenarios.

He will let his pleadings do the talking for him."

Comey said Mueller was "definitely attentive to the [election] calendar, and like all good

prosecutors, wants to finish as quickly as he can."

Mueller himself has remained very quiet and refused to comment on what his investigation

has found so far, if they have even found anything at all.

Giuliani scoffed at the idea that Mueller's investigation would last beyond the midterm

elections later this year.

"I think that'd be absurd," he said.

"If we're talking about the public having some degree of toleration for it now that'd

switch very quickly" if the investigation extended beyond this year.

Legal experts say that Mueller should not let complaints about his pace affect his work.

"Mueller and his people don't want to drag this out any more than anyone else.

They have lives to get back to," said Samuel Buell, a former federal prosecutor and Duke

University law professor.

"So I think he is just moving forward as quickly as the evidence, and running everything

to ground meticulously, allows.

That's what sets the agenda, not the political calendar."
