News on Youtube Sep 5 2018

As Nigerians besieged the Independent National Electoral Council (INEC) centres across the nation in a last-minute attempt to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) Exercise, investigation by SaharaReporters revealed the attempts by unscrupulous individuals to take advantage of the situation by engaging in corrupt practices.

"You can't register today. Once they're done with these people, they'll close for today.

It will be very difficult for you to get it now because those ones there (pointing at the residents on the queue) are already numbered. But I can do it for you, only if you will pay me.".

The above were the words of 'Emir', as he was referred to. He was a dark, tall, pot-bellied fellow.

It was a bright Friday morning. The day was August 31, 2018. It was the last day for eligible voters to participate in the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise.

As at 10:15am, when SaharaReporters visited one of the Lagos registration centres located at Alaba Primary School, Mushin, the venue was already peopled by crowds who were in a rush to register.

Interestingly, some of the residents claimed they got to the centre as early as 2am, and at 12noon, the queue only seemed to get longer. It was also observed that only a few people could go in unhindered.

It turned out that one could get out of the scorching sun by simply 'bribing' one of the 'guys' around. And that was how 'Emir' came into the picture. Bribing 'Emir' to register.

"You can't register today. Once they're done with these people, they'll close for today.

It will be very difficult for you to get it now because those one there (pointing at the queuing residents) are already numbered," Emir, a dark tall pot-bellied man, who would later offer to help, told this reporter.

"But I can do it for you, only if you will pay me," he said, exuding the confidence of one who was sure of getting it done.

He continued: "Ask those I've done it for here. You can see people are trying to lobby with me. Those who I've done it for introduced them to me.".

And he didn't lie about his trade. He was surrounded by residents as they lobbied to get his attention. "How much do I have to pay to register?" the reporter inquired.

"It's just N2,000 and you'll get your PVC. I will buy card, call you at a certain time to come and collect it.". "What if I come on Monday, will I meet you here?".

"I am ever here. My name is Emir," he replied with a dauntless smile. When asked if he had an account number so that, the N2,000 could be transferred, he said: "thieves don't have account number.

All efforts to get the INEC officials at the centre to confirm if they were aware of Emir's 'trade' proved abortive, as people who weren't staff or from Emir's list were allowed into the registration office.

'I'm tired, I've been here since 5am'. At 1:45pm, when SaharaReporters visited another registration centre at Apapa Local Council Development Area, Ijora-Badia, there were hordes of frustrated Nigerians who said they had come to the venue long before dawn.

"I'm tired, I've been here since 5am," a resident who preferred not to be named told SaharaReporters.

At first sight, there were many young girls at the entrance who sat down, looking very tired. When approached to know what was going on, a woman shouted out: "Young man, you better remove your eye glasses to see clearly.

You can't register now or even today. Even those of us who have been here since morning have no faith of getting it. We are just waiting." .

From afar, another fair, thin lady replied: "He can get it if he knows his way. I even know somebody who impersonated another person and entered inside the centre." .

SaharaReporters observed that Emir's trade also flourished at the centre. It was very hard to access the room where the registration was going on, not even as a reporter.

When a security man in faded brown vigilante uniform was approached on how to make the process faster, he said: "It's too late. If you had come earlier, I would have offered any help but for now, my hands are tied.".

In Ibadan, 160 people were already waiting to register at 5am. SaharaReporters obtained a short video, which revealed how residents of Ibadan, Oyo State arrived at an INEC registration centre as early as 4am to register their presence.

A resident who shared a video with this reporter said he arrived at the registration centre around 5am and yet, he met more than 160 people who had registered their names before his arrival.

Another citizen, who simply identified himself as Akin, also revealed to this reporter that there were cases of people paying to hasten up the registration, stating: "You know that's the mentality of Nigerians; you use what you have to get what you want.

In Niger State, at 2:52pm, residents who arrived at 6:30am had not registered. SaharaReporters authoritatively gathered that, hundreds of the PVC seekers were stranded outside the gate of the INEC office in Suleja, Niger State.

The registration was sluggish due to the fact that the INEC office, Suleja, only has one functioning computer for the registration exercise.

SaharaReporters arrived the Suleja INEC office at exactly 2:52pm, and at that time, PVC seekers who arrived the office as early as 6:30am were still outside the gate.

The normal procedure of admitting people into the building was by calling out names of those who had the opportunity of writing their names before 9am. .

However, on that day, a lot of people who had written their names the day before were yet to be registered, and that caused delay in the registration process.

The people complained of being unfairly treated as they claimed some people whose names were not on the list were being allowed into the compound.

"If only I have a car and 'Agbada', I would have been done with this registration, I would only need to sound my horn and I would be allowed in," a young man said.

Another man was seen complaining bitterly to one of the policemen outside the office, saying: "That lady in there met us here!".

The policeman, however, replied, saying: "I don't know who allowed her in and I can't ask because it could be my superior. Voter registration should be free, says INEC.

Meanwhile, while speaking on a television programme on Monday, Solomon Soyebi, the National Commissioner, INEC Voter Education and Publicity, acknowledged that the commission had received complaints of demand and payment of bribes from some states of the federation, noting that investigation was ongoing.

"We got complaints from three states; we are investigating the cases The outcome of the investigation is not yet out. But what we did was to make sure to take preventative measures over this. It is supposed to be free," he said.

"The people themselves should not even give, it's for free. In a chaotic situation like that, it's very [easy] to extort. It's not just that alone, you'll see somebody who came very late and wants to be the first.".

How Much Money A Handyman Makes - Duration: 6:13.

Hey friend if this is your first time tuning in

My name is Allen Lee and I own and operate Honest Lee Handyman Services here out of Sacramento, California

So if this is your first time tuning in and you are here to learn about the handyman business, the handyman business ins and outs

DIY projects have a price and man jobs how to estimate handyman jobs how to market your handyman business

Go ahead and click the subscribe button below because that's what we're all about here. So here at honestly handyman

I am all about being completely transparent with you guys

I want you guys if you guys are looking to get started as a handyman

I want you guys to know exactly what you're getting into

So everything I do from my work videos to DIY videos to how to price handyman jobs

Everything is in that completely transparent mindset

I try and show you guys the ins and outs of everything the goods and the bads so that is what I'm all about

So in today's video, I want to talk about how much a handyman makes

How much money a handyman makes per hour per day and per year so let's get started

So like I've talked about before in some of my past videos

On how to price handyman jobs when I first started out in the handyman business

I started out just pulling a number from thin air and that number was $50 an hour

I felt like that was kind of a good starting point because

after all

I was only making like 20 something dollars an hour at my at my full-time job

To begin with so I thought $50 an hour was great

But it wasn't until I really looked into how much money I needed to make as a handyman

To support my business and my personal life

When I really made some big changes in my pricing structure

so that's really kind of where these numbers come from is where when I figured out my handyman need is what I call it my

hourly need so typically what most handyman range in an hourly need is anywhere from like

$50 an hour and this this is really dependent on where your location is around the world

And then how much money you need to kind of operate your own lifestyle, you know, whether your wife works or not. So

Typically most handyman go from around 50 dollars an hour to somewhere like 110 dollars an hour

On the high end so though that's kind of like your hourly rate for me. Personally. I do not charge by the hour anymore

I did when I first started now I charge by the job. So I go out and get people estimates and

So they know exactly what they are paying for a specific job

I know exactly how much I'm making on the Pacific job as well. So typically

That's what most handy men try and aim for and for each for every handyman

It's going to be a little bit different, you know

But you need to go through a kind of your own calculator figure out exactly how much your hourly need is as a handyman

I have one of those tacky laters available at handyman journey.com

That you could check out as well a link that in the description below

so one of the things that I really love about this handyman business is the freedom that this handyman business gives you and that is

Really found in your pricing structure as well. So a few days ago for instance

I'll show you guys kind of the low end right I've worked for an hour and a half last last Thursday

I worked for an hour and a half and I made a total of two hundred profit

so that was and that's all I made for that day was that two hundred dollars, but

What I gained from that day was I got to spend a whole lot of time with my wife and my daughter

That was a day that I chose to kind of only work, you know like an hour and a half that day

I only scheduled one job that day because I wanted to do other things with that day most days. I

range from somewhere around

600 to 800 dollars profit per day and that's working anywhere from five to eight hours per day

Typically, you know more like five to six hours a day all depending on the job scope and kind of what's needed in that

But like I've talked about before typically the jobs that I like to do are our honey-do list items

The the jobs that typically make me the most profit and I have a whole video on that

I will link that up here as well

the the jobs that make me the most profit are the ones that that

require the least amount of material so like your ceiling fan installation or your outlet replacement or

replacing a toilet or

You know, I'm clogging a sink things like that. So the way that I typically make make money is by doing

Little here and there jobs. So like I'll go to a house that I'll do

I'll be maybe 15 or 20 items on one house in one day and that bill really just adds up so

So in my handyman job the days that I'm actually working

Probably the least amount of money that I've ever made in a day that I'm actually working is somewhere around 150 to 200 dollars

the most amount of money that I made is about

1,300 to $1,500. I can't quite remember

That was kind of when I first started. I had one really good day

I had a lot of you know kind of thousand-dollar days, you know throughout there, but that was probably my highest 1300 to 1500

So you could definitely make a whole lot of money in this last year. I

profited seventy thousand dollars from this business

and

So this year I'm planning on doing a whole lot more

So and again all these all these figures they differ for wherever you're out around the world

So don't take for what I'm saying for what you need to be aiming for

But you need to figure out what your hourly need is

That's one of the most important things about pricing and figuring out how much a handyman makes per hour per day and per year

But those are just some of my figures

yours may may differ a little bit, but that is

what I have found of how much a handyman makes per hour per day and per year and also talking to a whole bunch of

Other handyman as well. I would love to have you guys join our handyman mastermind Facebook group

If you aren't a part of that I will put the link to that in the description below also in the comment section also

Comment on this video. Let me know

you know how you guys price a man jobs what you guys need to learn a little bit about

Because I'm always learning as well. That's what it's all about

Also, I have a free ebook for you guys that I would love to give you guys

It is a handyman journey com, I'll link that in the description below. That is the 4 secrets to success as a handyman

But thank you all so much for tuning in this video

I hope you learned a little something and I will see you guys on the next video as you just subscribe

We'll see you next time buh. Bye

MONTHLY VAN LIFE EXPENSES | how much does living in a van cost? - Duration: 13:31.

hello everybody and welcome back to our

channel where Eamon and Bec and we live

full time in our self converted Sprinter

van that you see behind us and all

around us and all that good stuff today

we wanted to address one of our most

frequently asked questions what does it

cost to live in this van what are our

monthly expenses and the reason we've

kind of put it off is we have a

complicated life we are small business

owners and we don't really have fixed

income or fixed bills as much as people

who live in a house have rent have a

very steady regular nine-to-five life so

sometimes we're traveling we're on the

road full-time other times we're at our

office space and really spending not

that much money so today we are sharing

with you what we spent over the month of

July which was when we were traveling

both in Canada's west coast and the

United States it was throughout the

summer we did a lot of activities that

we probably wouldn't normally do yeah

but we wanted to kind of paint you a

picture of what that would look like

throughout the summer what I think would

be really interesting too and if you

guys are interested let us know in the

comments below if we created a

comparison video of what it costs when

we're traveling full-time on the road in

the van versus what it costs when we're

working and more stationery in Toronto

can't big difference I'm sure a huge

difference so before we get into the

meat juice the numbers the reason why I

clicked on this video I want to let you

know quickly we are Canadian very

private opinion so every single dollar

is in CA D so most of you are Americans

it's like 30 percent off one other thing

I wanted to mention we don't have a

fixed salary so I that's the one yeah I

knew you are waiting for my help you can

keep going we don't have a fixed salary

I mean we're small business owners so if

we can take 10 bucks here 20 bucks here

that's kind of how we roll so that we

are not going to share with you because

it's literally like we didn't actually

pull any money in the a whole month so a

little bit confusing for you sitting at

home like well how does that make any

sense man

keep that in mind that we are small

business owner

that are literally investing reinvesting

into all of our businesses so we

basically gave two companies enough to

to pay our bills essentially and

everything else we reinvest into the two

companies yeah and the money kind of

just sits in our companies because it's

us the companies are us it's not like

it's a corporation or anything like that

so the two businesses are chai wallah is

our tea business and then a man in back

as a social media business to businesses

they're kind of blurring and it's very

difficult and we need a better account

anyway yeah that is a whole other story

and we do really want to share more

about our tea company with you guys we

had a lot of you right in our last video

that you would be interested so maybe an

office tour definitely an office tour

behind the scenes day of a small

business owner and things like that that

we'd love to share with you guys we just

never knew how much of that was

interesting or how much of it made us

appear more small of a business than the

fake it till you make it

mentality we had for the first three

years but we're over it now okay well

show you how small right let's talk the

cheddar cheddar bills so let's talk

about our fixed bills this is where it

also gets complicated and why we didn't

share for so long about our monthly

expenses because car insurance and

insuring vans kind of self converted

vans in Ontario is very very difficult

we have ensured our van as just the van

for a hundred and thirty eight dollars a

month this was possible because it's not

an RV in Canada at least they you have

to have a toilet and a shower to be

considered an RV bub you're like looking

away ensure there's something floating

beside me okay basically we insured it

as a vehicle and then our business

insurance which would pay a hundred and

forty four dollars a month or helps us

cover the items of our vehicle and the

things that you know our equipment and

stuff that's inside the vehicle that

makes any sense but Ontario insurance

for self convert advance is very

difficult I'm sorry that we don't have a

more straightforward answer for you guys

hopefully within the coming years as

more and more people are doing it

there's going to be an insurance company

that's on board to insure next and we're

going to talk to you about phones holy

smokes

the phone plans in Canada are absolutely

basically criminal if you ask me we pay

four hundred and forty four dollars for

even with your 30% discount that is

insane that's combined there's no such

thing as an unlimited plan so we have

like 20 gigs of shareable data and

unlimited blah blah blah blah blah but

yes we pay four hundred and forty four

dollars and often go over okay so hold

on let me go back our phone bill is

supposed to cost around two hundred or

so dollars a month but when we go into

the states which is where we were in

July every day we're there each line

gets charged $10 crazy

well my column and we were also paying

over the summer to try out this internet

rocketHub thing 60 additional dollars so

that sounds insane the four hundred

forty four dollars a because it is and b

because we had all of these additional

things happening so typically the bills

more around like three hundred and we're

hoping to get that down and down and

down and with love for Rogers or Belle

or tell us or anyone in Canada to figure

their shit out but yeah it's super

expensive to run our phone bills so we

used to be members at this fancy

schmancy gym that we paid a lot way too

much money for but we last month just

got a plan Fitness membership and holy

smokes that's reasonable it was twenty

bucks a month that has a black card

membership so she can bring a guest

unlimited amount of time so she just

brings me as the guest and twenty bucks

they have Wi-Fi they have my solid like

guy we could go into a whole planet

fitness ad right now but yeah

unbelievable price showers incredible

often what we'll also do on the road is

because Planet Fitness isn't always very

accessible like sometimes it'll be an

hour drive sometimes they won't even

have them in the province at least in

Canada we will go and do a trial month

somewhere wherever we are so I did a

plus thirty five because in July we went

and did intro weeks a yoga studio and

yoga so you just have really nice

showers and which is really great value

when you're traveling and you can kind

of just jump from intro to intro to

intro a week which is definitely not why

they create those intro months but hey

then life we like it

so those are fixed bills our insurances

our phone and Internet let's call it and

then the gym now what's interesting is

because that internet doesn't allow us

unlimited Wi-Fi we're definitely not

able to upload our videos or to really

even work for our bit our other business

in that capacity we do a lot of cafe

hopping oh my gosh we're gonna die the

main focus of our chai business was to

go and meet with independent coffee shop

owners and become like their wholesaler

for chai so we spend a lot of time there

getting to know baristas and just the

coffee culture whenever we go to a new

place so part of it is a business

write-off and part of it is getting to

upload these videos for you guys and

using the internet so we'll actually go

and spend a day at a cafe which is a why

it's gonna be so expensive when you see

how much we spend at them

we also expense it to our business it's

kind of think we're complicated um but

over the month of July we spent one

hundred and twenty-five dollars and

ninety four Canadian dollars I mean I

think to a lot of people if they hear

that we spend $125 on coffee like if you

categorize it as that

it is so hard to find a quiet place to

film in Toronto and we don't like to you

know be that couple that sits there and

drinks one tea and be there for four

hours in the Internet like we will buy

you know sandwich or something to

support them yeah I'm surprised coffee's

online really yeah I was like my heart

dropped when I because I had it at 86

and then I checked your debit just to

see if you would spend any more and you

have that should we paid a little bit on

cash sometimes - that could be true

groceries yes we absolutely love food we

love hosting people so that's I think a

big expense of ours and something that

we're just willing to eat because I'm

wait yeah I mean that's that's where we

want to spend our money we don't go and

drink alcohol so we want to buy nice

food are you surprised by this number

what's the key higher really I mean

that's pretty high seven hundred and

twenty one dollars yeah on groceries by

money yeah I can see it I mean it

doesn't surprise me

yeah every time we walk in that place

designer bucks so eating out once again

we would rather cook our meals you know

if we get to a place like Portland that

we've been looking forward to going to

for so long I blame Portland for that

yes we want to go out and experience so

we ate a lot out in Portland a whopping

three hundred and eighty dollars yeah

includes tip gas so let's think of where

we were in July we were in Vancouver

already so we weren't driving across the

country yet we went all the way up to

Squamish and then drove all the way down

to Portland and then back up to with

Vancouver yeah so it was a lot of travel

in the month again but we spent three

hundred and sixty seven dollars on gas

three sixty sixty seven three hundred

and sixty-seven dollars I guess um what

was unique about this month was we well

I mean parking is sometimes like we

don't ever pay for campsites so we don't

have that as a fee we're gonna talk

about today but every once in a while

you have to park to be in the city or

something like that so I think we had a

few parking charges and then we also

went on some ferries so we went over to

Vancouver

and in July we also went over to salt

spring island so for parking and ferries

we spent one hundred and fifty three

dollars

scooters we rented oh yes you wanna talk

about that so we back to put that under

the title of Adventures eighty eight

dollars and forty eight cents for that

but I think a good a hundred dollar

bucket for adventures and even if it's a

park fee to go on a hike somewhere or

something like that like when you visit

Manthan like Louise you have to pay an

entrance fee so just as a bucket to have

the adventures do cost the money and

then I had a miscellaneous section which

we have a hundred and fifty dollars

under this month we had bought a new

headlamp a water filtration system so

that when we were hiking we could pump

the water straight from the lake a new

water bottle you could have that as a

bucket if you needed to buy you know I

don't know a new t-shirt throughout the

month whatever man

the last big bucket that we have and

especially in July it popped up with car

servicing so again this van is our home

it's our mode of transportation

it's our office so we definitely try to

keep it serviced as best we can we spent

four hundred and seventy dollars in July

doing a service I think it was called

service B yep

service B and getting our breaks and

everything checked obviously that's not

gonna be every single month so maybe

bucket more like three hundred dollars a

month but sometimes it's gonna be a

thousand dollars and sometimes it's

going to be zero the other day we spent

the month of July 3236 Canadian dollars

there you have it you guys we feel so

vulnerable take just take it so that's

that's our entire month right so that's

no bad people yeah that's true that's us

living our lives and living a great life

you know like we drink smoothies

sometimes yeah

we drink we kale chips sometimes I know

a lot of you had questions about what it

costs to live in the van and travel for

a month and I hope that really helps you

maybe you can understand like this is

achievable on my salary or I would cut

back here and this is how yeah there's I

mean there's lots of ways you can come

back that's two people yeah well mm-hmm

I'm huge eaters yeah that's it I hope
