- Hey, it's Dr. Gregg with Align Wellness Center,

and I wanted to give you one more tip

on some things to do if you're having a migraine

or if you've had them in the past.

Now it's a tip I give a lot of people for a lot of things,

and it has to do with water consumption.

You know, there have been many cases that have been shown

that migraines can be triggered by dehydration.

So how much water should you be drinking in a day?

Well in a day,

I say you should be drinking

at least half of your body weight in fluid ounces of water.

So if I weigh 200 pounds,

then I need to drink 100 fluid ounces of water.

Now I'm standing over here by our water cooler

so that we can focus on that.

Now how do you get to that much water?

Well, if you don't drink any water,

or if you drink less than you should be drinking of water,

let's add one cup of water a day for a week.

Then we'll add another cup of water for a week.

This will slowly what's called upregulate

or get you comfortable with that much fluids

so that you're not racing to the bathroom all the time.

Now for me,

what I do at my office or my day

is I split it up into four quarters.

So for me,

I've got to do 25 fluid ounces in the morning,

25 fluid ounces in my early shift,

25 fluid ounces in my afternoon patient shift,

and then 25 fluid ounces in the evening.

Now if you're a patient,

you may see me walking around with a water bottle like this.

And I do that because this is 25 fluid ounces.

So I know if I fill it up when I start with the day,

I should finish it by lunch.

If I fill it up in the afternoon,

I should finish it before we leave for the day.

I'm going to guide for you to come up with a system like that.

Now if you're in the heat of a migraine right now,

make sure, and a great thing to do

is sip on somewhere around 16 fluid ounces of water.

Now for some people they think of taking a soda or a Coke,

because it's got the caffeine

to try and help out with the migraine,

and sometimes caffeine can help.

But sometimes it can make it worse,

especially if it's from dehydration.

So make sure, I say,

to just consume clean water

so that you can rehydrate yourself.

Now if you know someone who has migraines,

please share this with them.

This may be a tip they aren't familiar with.

So that they can take care of them

more easily and more accurately.

Don't Drink Water Before You Watch This Video | Health Tips | How To Drink Water - Duration: 8:15.

If you are suffering from health problems skin problem, acidity, muscle pain, digestion

problem, fatigue or migraine then according to studies chances are one of the main causes

is not drinking right amount of water properly.

So far you have heard water is life, from this video you will get to know that if it

is not properly drunk then how it can become a major cause of death.

So let's find out everyday when how much and in which way you should drink water so that

it benefits you.

Because it is a fact that 90% of us drink water in wrong way, and a proof to that is

the diseases I mentioned at the beginning of the video getting so much common among

us.

"Oh god!

Again I have forgotten to drink water today!" and immediately you picked up a 1lit water

bottle and drank 1lit of water at once.

Do you know this is more harmful for you than benefiting.

In medical term it is called water intoxication or water poisoning.

Our body has a limited capacity to hold a particular amount of water at once.

At once if you drink too much of water then it increases the water percentage in your

blood.

As a result, the density of different electrolytes specially sodium starts to decrease and water

starts to move from outside to inside of cells, causing them to swell.

When this happens with our brain cells it causes headache, fatigue and many other health

problems.

This condition is also called hyponatremia.

Now the question is, how can you know whether you have right amount of water in your body

or not?

Your urine colour is an indicator of that.

If it is dark yellow, then it indicates water deficiency in your body.

If it is transparent just like fresh water, then it indicates water excess in your body.

Neither deficiency nor excess of water is good for your body.

If your urine colour is very light yellow then it indicates that you have right amount

of water in your body.

So your urine colour is a very efficient indicator.

Other than that when you drink water while walking or standing, opening your mouth in

upward direction then along with water a lot of air enter into your stomach which may cause

acidity in your stomach.

So, what you should do?

First of all do not drink more than 300ml of water at once.

Second, sit somewhere and then drink water slowly by touching your mouth with the bottle

or glass.

Because when you will drink water slowly, the enzymes in your mouth will get a chance

to mix up with the water and reach your stomach, which is very good for your digestion.

So, smart idea 1: Always drink slowly

Are you also one of them, who cannot eat their meals without drinking water?

And some of them can't eat their meals without drinking soft drinks along with it.

That is more dangerous.

If you are one of them then chances are most of the time you suffer from acidity and digestion

problem.

Because just as we eat something after cooking it, in the same way when the food reaches

our stomach, gastric juice mix with it to get it digested.

So it can be said, that after reaching our stomach the food is cooked for the second

time by our gastric juice.

Then only finally the food is digested.

Now suppose when you are cooking, if someone keep putting water in your saucepan then will

the food be prepared properly?

The same thing happens when you drink water while eating.

Because of drinking water the density of the gastric juice starts to decrease which results

in causing digestion problem.

So what should you do?

You should always drink water 30min before or after having your meal.

Yes, if you are eating very dry food then you can drink a little amount of water but

that is just to soak the throat.

So, smart idea 2: Don't drink while eating

You may have heard it before also that 75% of our body is made of water.

But due to sweat, urine and breathing everyday we loose near about 2 to 2.5 lit of water

from our body.

So to restore this amount of water we need to drink 2 to 2.5 lit of water everyday.

But in a day, when and how should we drink water?

First of all, just after getting up in the morning, even before brushing your teeth or

having breakfast you should drink at least 300ml of water.

Because the enzymes in your month after a good night sleep are very much beneficial

for your body.

This is why they are said superior than gold in Ayurveda.

But maximum of us go to brush our teeth right after getting up, because of that the enzymes

can not reach to the stomach.

So from tomorrow morning after getting up, your first task is to drink 300ml or 1 glass

of water very slowly.

Then 30min before and after having your breakfast you have to drink 300ml or 1glass of water

each time, that is a total of 600ml or 2 glass of water.

In the same way, before and after having your lunch and dinner you have to drink 300ml or

1glass of water.

By following this simple routine you can drink 2lit of water regularly.

So that you remember to drink water before and after having your meal, you can use your

mobile phone's alarm clock as a reminder or you can also use the app named "water drink

reminder".

So, smart idea 3: Follow a drinking routine

As there are right times to drink water similarly there are some wrong times when you should

never drink water.

These are, 1) While eating a meal

2) Just after coming out from toilet.

Because at that time some of our muscles remain loose, so maximum of the water that we drink

at that time passes through our system without getting absorbed and as a result we have to

go to toilet again and again.

3) Before going to bed at night you should not drink water.

Because unless in mid night you may have to wake up to go to the toilet.

This will harm your sleep cycle and decrease your sleep quality.

So you should drink little amount of water at least one hour before going to bed.

4) You should always avoid drinking water after intense workout sessions.

Because during workout we loose a lot of electrolytes from our body due to sweat.

In this condition if you drink huge amount of water then the remaining electrolytes in

your body also get dissolved in that water, causing vomitting fatigue and lots of health

problems.

So in this condition you should always drink Glucon-D type of drinks, so that not only

the water but also the electrolytes get restored in your body.

So, smart idea 4: Avoid drinking water at wrong times

Are you one of them who in summer time gets straight to the freezer to drink chilled water

after getting back home from somewhere?

Then chances are many often you suffer from cold and digestion problem.

You may know that our body has a suitable temperature, when you drink chilled water

then that cold water hinders in the process of maintaining that body temperature and as

a result it also creates problem to maintain blood pressure.

So what should we do?

We should always drink room temperature water.

As in yogic culture it is said that we should not drink water more or less than 4 degree

of our body temperature.

Because then it harms our body more than benefiting.

So, smart idea 5: Always drink room temperature water

So let's recap all of the Smart ideas once again,

1) Always drink small amount of water at once and drink it slowly.

2) Don't drink while eating.

3) Follow a drinking routine to drink right amount of water at the right time.

4) Avoid drinking water at wrong time.

5) Always drink room temperature water.

As someone once said, "Drink right amount of water, your skin, your hair, your mind

and your body will thank you."

How do you define success? - Duration: 7:59.

so this is my office anyone who's been watching this channel for a while knows

that to be true that's my dog Molly she's basically in the office at all

times because she has to be near me 24 hours a day it's January 1st everyone

has the day off but tomorrow the team will come back and we will begin 2019

and that is super super exciting to me for a couple of reasons

first off I love when a new year starts because it's a way that you kind of sit

down you kind of breathe a deep sigh that fresh start new things happening

what did we do good in 2018 what did the Year look like in terms of financial

where can we improve where can we do all those kind of things and really that's

all internally what I talk to myself about because as the boss I don't really

have a lot of managers or people that obviously I talk with a lot about those

things but I really like to collaborate with my team what I'm also really

excited for is starting tomorrow either brand new employee coming on that is

working full-time for me as my assistant and a lot of you watching this channel

may be like whoa you have an assistant already like that's isn't that a little

bit too aggressive how much is really going on there are so many things

happening in my life simultaneously between my business and YouTube and

wedding film school and so many things that over the course of time really add

up and what happens is by the end of a week I look at my time and realize that

60% of my time is done doing admin stuff and done doing things that I feel like I

could obviously put someone in position to do those things and so I've made it

kind of a point since I started my business to not worry about how much

money goes in my pocket right this second and put that money into hiring

more and more people that would allow me to get more work done more efficiently

so that we can take on more work overall we had an awesome year of growth that

for elseís to do is almost eighty-five percent growth and revenue from the year

before so that's fantastic but the way that I've always been building my

company and my mindset has been continue to put the money that we're making into

more people so we can continue to do high quality work and even better than

we did and more efficiently excited note if you keep seeing the light change

every two seconds it's because the clouds are moving a hundred miles a

minute apparently and the Sun goes in and

and now it drives me nuts in the Edit when I see that happen but there's

nothing I can do but anyway over the last six months especially I've seen so

much growth happen in so many different places and I'm constantly realizing that

I want to put things in place now that I'm desperately gonna need when times

they are even busier because it's really hard to train people and to put certain

things in place when you're so busy that you don't have time to train so my

thought process was take some money out of my pocket which I'm totally fine with

hire an assistant that I can begin to really really train hard over these next

six to 12 months and put that person in a position to do what I really need them

to do when times are even busier than they will be now it's already a super

busy season tons of new things are happening new

clients new opportunities so many different things and I love being able

to have more and more people to bounce ideas off of in conversation off of and

talk about what things they think that we could do better that I could do

better naturally when a new year hits the

question that I get asked a lot and the question that we throw around to friends

and family that we know are like what are your goals for 2019 like what are

you looking to do differently see that's always an interesting question to me

because the way that my brain works is it's my goal to produce the best work

possible to have the best customer service possible to create the most

content I can from my youtube channel and from my personal brand and to just

do everything at the highest level possible but I don't necessarily set

goals of I want to get this type of revenue or this type of YouTube base or

whatever it is I don't really set goals like that because I feel like if I do

all those things and I always do those things which is try my absolute best

work the hardest that I possibly can all I can really do is let the results

happen based on the work that I put into it if I were to set these insane goals

and not reach them but know that I worked the absolute hardest that I could

and I still saw growth well it wouldn't be a disappointment to me to say I

didn't reach a goal but instead of letting myself down with certain goals

I'd rather just say here's my goal I'm gonna work as hard as I can and continue

to produce the best type of stuff that I can on all levels

and that's success to me success to me is just doing what you love and working

as hard as you can to make it grow and I feel like when you do those things that

you do grow and you do have success but measuring success based on a certain

number of subscribers on a YouTube channel or revenue in a business or

whatever measure you want to have can sometimes not give you an accurate

representation of like what success actually is success isn't a lot of money

success isn't a lot of subscribers success isn't any of those things but a

lot of us when we have businesses or YouTube channels whatever it is we look

at that as like the success point we look at what we think is a successful

youtuber and say to ourselves the successful youtuber has a million

subscribers or the successful businessman has a million dollars in

revenue well they might not necessarily think that success either and who's to

say that that money or that subscriber base is success to me you're successful

in your life if you are doing what you love period if you're making twenty five

thousand dollars a year and you're paying all your bills and you love life

then you're extremely successful if you're making three million dollars a

year and you still love what you do and you go to work every day loving what you

do then you're extremely successful if you have a YouTube channel of a hundred

and fifty subscribers but you cannot wait to hit upload the next time you do

it then you're having success in the channel if you're working for somebody

else and you're not the boss but you love working for that person and you

love what you get to do every single day then you're successful success isn't a

number success isn't like a definition everyone's definition of success is

different and you have to determine what is successful to you because when you

determine what success is to you it'll really change your mindset to how you

work and how you look at things in general of course I want my business to

grow or I wouldn't be in business in the first place but at the end of the day I

love what I do and if I pay all my bills and I can also help other people pay

bills by hiring them and I'm loving what I do every single day well I'm already

successful if I make way more money I'm not gonna be any happier

not gonna be any more successful I'm just gonna have more money and I really

am trying as hard as I can to always remember that that is not the definition

of success the honest truth is you've heard it said a million times money

doesn't buy you happiness and neither does success success is actually being

happy I don't ever want you to get the impression that if you ever hear me

talking about that you need to work harder work more hours you need to go

after what you want that I'm telling you that you have to work 100 hours or 200

hours a week or there's a certain amount of success that you need to have I just

feel like so many people don't realize what success is and so many people don't

realize that yes a if you really want to build a business it takes a ton of hard

work to make it happen but it only takes as much hard work as you want to put

into it and because I love what I do it makes me want to work more want to work

harder but I know that there has to be a balance on both sides of things to be

able to just balance life in general do not let someone tell you that when

you work a certain amount of hours and make a certain amount of money then

you're successful because I promise you those same people aren't happy in life

whatsoever they may have a lot of money but money doesn't buy you happiness

we've heard that said a million times a smile and being able to wake up every

single day knowing that you get to do what you love that is success don't ever

forget that when you're thinking about your goals

Picture a very nervous seventeen-year-old Julia. My heart was

pounding my mouth was dry and my hands were sweaty because I was about to walk

into my boss's office and ask for my first pay raise. Somehow I managed to

negotiate my rate from $7.25 an hour to $7.75

10 years later when I found myself in a similar position you'd think I might

have felt a bit older and wiser going in but I didn't. Negotiating your pay isn't

something you get a lot of practice doing. And it's not like they teach it in

high school or college and most people don't even like to talk about how much

they make with anyone even their boss. A study in Australia found that only 48%

of men and 32% of women thought their pay was even up for discussion.

Your income is the most powerful tool that you have to grow your financial

stability so you owe it to yourself to exert some control over it

the first step in getting a pay raise is to decide to ask for one in a perfect

world your boss would notice all your hard work and say hey that employees a

real benefit to this company I should increase their salary and I'll give them

a company car and a corner office while I'm at it but this just doesn't happen

in the real world your boss might even recognize your value but he or she

probably has their own budget to worry about so they're unlikely to increase

their expense without you initiating the conversation

however before you do that you've got to prepare your case how are you especially

valuable to the company what achievements or successes have you had

recently have your responsibilities expanded beyond the original job

description any extra training or education relevant to your work it's

best not to compare your paid to other employees that's not considered

professional and don't include personal needs like my rent went up or my dog got

sick employers will only care about your individual merit and remember that just

with your job is not a good enough argument after all

you already agreed to do that when you first took the position you have to show

that you're more valuable now than you were when you were hired although you're

arming yourself with arguments keep in mind that it's not a battle replacing an

established employee is very expensive and time-consuming so if you're a good

worker your boss probably wants the same thing you do for you to be happy enough

to stick around unless they're an abusive jerk in which case would getting

a raise really make you happier maybe you should be looking for a different

job instead have a specific number in mind researchers at Columbia Business

School found that workers were more likely to get a raise if they asked for

a precise amount probably because they seemed more confident about their worth

but you do have to be realistic most pay raises are between one and five

percent and you can use websites like a pay scale or Glassdoor to find out the

market rate for your position in your area timing is key if the company is in

the middle of a big project and your boss is stressed out you might want to

wait for things to calm down before asking for a raise

plan your request soon after you've completed a big achievement or shown

that you can successfully handle more responsibilities and if you've recently

taken a vacation or missed a deadline you should probably allow some time to

re-establish a reliability asking at the right time will only make it easier for

your boss to say yes even if your employer thinks you deserve it they just

might not have the ability to increase your salary which is why you should be

ready with alternate options salary only typically accounts for about 70% of

employees total compensation which leaves lots of room on the negotiating

table for other benefits and perks and you can get creative there's gym

membership reimbursement professional development funding commuting expense

coverage more flexible work hours heck maybe it's just a cubicle that's as far

as possible from the obnoxiously loud co-worker come up with the top three

things you would change about your job and see if they're amenable when you've

got your presentation planned out it's time to rehearse the thought of

explaining why you deserve more money makes most people want to crawl under a

rock but it's important that you appear confident in your self-assessment so

have a friend or family member sit down with you and who doesn't get some

stumble through is out of the way the mirror isn't gonna cut it here you need

to sit across from a human being who can ask you questions that your employer

might bring up during your talk and don't ask for feedback from your

rehearsal partner until you've gone through it at least a couple times and

lastly be prepared to hear know even if you walk out of your boss's office with

nothing more than what you went in with it's not a defeat you have successfully

communicated your expectations about your career and shown your investment in

the company long-term trust me your employer will remember these things the

next time you're up for of you or a promotion becomes available you'll also

be giving yourself practice and asking for what you want something that is

difficult for a surprising number of people but essential to feeling like you

have control over your life ask my mother-in-law always says if you don't

ask the answer is always no so there's no harm in trying if you do it with

preparation and professionalism and you won't have to wonder whether you could

be making more and that's our two cents
