so this month I have spent...
I am going to a supermarket called "La Comer" now.
It's only 30 minutes walk from downtown. But the girl told me that I
have to walk under the tunnel. So I'm like no way. The other way will be
taking a bus but buses here got no number and my Spanish is not good enough
to talk to the driver of where I want to go. So I go with the third option which is a
taxi. So let's go!
Alright! I found it!
Alright, I'm back! It was a very big supermarket something
like Walmart. It got fresh vegetables, meat, cheese, toys, stationeries,
electrical appliances what else... stationaries, personal care, underwear.
Basically everything, huge supermarket. Okay let's see what I have in here.
A bottle of olive oil 250 ml
A bag of spinach
Mushroom
Minced beef
chicken thigh
two bell pepper
My favorite chamomile tea just I can live without it.
So important!
Some herbs. I wanna...I try to find some rosemary but I'm not able to find it, so only this one.
Some very unhealthy macaroni & cheese. I think this is a
microwave version.
I got rice.
I got zipper bag. So when I make the
pasta sauce, I can make a lot of them and I freeze them.
Twelve eggs basically I just need the box so that I can get eggs from the
supermarket next to me. Everytime I got eggs from the small supermarket, I can
only buy two pieces four pieces because they will only put them into a bag.
I got this cotton pad .
Q-tip
four pack of tissue paper
because I don't use them tissue paper from from the public toilet
so I'll bring mine.
one thing, what's that?
Revlon lipstick.
The reason why I got there's us because I
found that I got no color on my face. The lipstick I am using now is just too
natural and just doesn't look too good on camera so I bought this lipstick
to beautify myself. But the problem is I'm not able to try it. They don't have any
tests at all. So I just guess I hope that it's good.
I also bought some other things previously so let me show you guys as well
This place is arranged by the school. The house has four bedrooms, each of them has
an individual bathroom. I am living in one of the bedrooms in here. My room has
a double bed, a closet, a dresser, a TV, a very big storage space and I can get a
lot of sunlight during the day in here which is fantastic. My room is very clean
and very spacious, very comfortable. For the shared area, we have kitchen,
a rooftop terrace and a game room. There's also a washer and a dryer in this house
as well. I am paying 375 dollars per month which includes electricity, gas and
Wi-Fi. I don't know if it's called expensive or not because the location is very
close to downtown and very close to my school. So it is quite convenient. And Mr.
and Mrs. landlord, they're very nice people.
Whenever I need something I can just text them and they will just reply me
right away. And Mrs. landlord will come to clean the house around twice a week and
so I'm able to talk to them, communicate with them. I think that's the point of
living in a local place instead of a hotel or a hostel right?
How about homestay homestay?
Homestay is around $25 per day. If you ask them to cook for you it will be around $2 per meal.
It will be a good idea if you only stay here for a short period of time and
you don't want to cook at all
At this moment I have been staying here for
four weeks now the super lucky part was like two weeks ago
I have written down all my expenses since the first day I came so I'm able to share with you guys now.
First part is the food I separated into eating out and groceries and for
eating out I spent $245 in just four weeks
for the first ten days I didn't cook at all. I try nice restaurants in here.
So I spent around $120 on that ten days and then for the recent two weeks I
cook lunch or dinner or lunch and dinner. If I go out, I will go for
street food or a mid-range restaurant. For groceries, I spend $75 for this month.
After I went to the La Comer supermarket, I also found another local supermarket
close to downtown. It's a reasonable supermarket but just they don't have
international food. And I found that food there is a little bit cheaper so those
$75 is only for two weeks is not for four weeks. The third part is
transportation. It is $75. $34 is from my airport pickup which I paid to my
landlord. The price is reasonable because I have checked with uber so that they
charge more or less the same. And Airport is in Leon, which is a little bit from far from here.
Other than that is I joined the school to go to somewhere in San Miguel
which cost me 550 peso. Besides that taxi in here is
very reasonable. It's like...they don't use a meter but every
time it's around 50 peso per ride. And I find that taxi driver here is very honest.
They will not try to ask for double or triple of the price and like
mostly, they will asked for 40 to 50 peso per ride. And then tour and
admission which is $61. It goes to like the funicular or like the museum like
everything else and I also join the food tour. Another one is personal care $34.
It's include toothpaste, body lotions like all those stuff. I separated
from the groceries because I sometimes I spend much more money on that or
sometimes I don't spend any money on that. So I want to keep track how much I spent.
And then cellphone I'm paying
150 peso which is $7 per 28 days. It's a top-up card.
Miscellaneous $50. It's lots of money on miscellaneous but why because I went for massage it cost
me 650 peso per hour and it was a very nice massage. I think what pay for is a
mid-range because Mrs. landlord told me that she can also do massage but it will
be in her house. She charged like half price. I also see that there's a
hotel in downtown. They are charging another 50% which is almost like
1000 peso for an hour. So this month, I have spent $547
I didn't have a very strict budget but I was expecting I
only need about $400. Now it's slightly over. I hope I can
improve for the coming month which is
For tuition, I will do a separate video which will be included in my one month
Spanish learning review.
By the end of this video I'm going to show you the
firework last night
