News on Youtube Aug 4 2018

Hello everyone, this is Sheila.

And in this video you will learn how to save a dying succulent, like these guys right here.

So, first, let me ask you these questions?

Have you had a dying succulent?

Maybe one or two or three or four or more?

If the answer is yes, then this video is for you!

So, let's jump in!

If you would look at this succulent, there is no obvious sign of infestation and if you

would look at the rest of the succulents in the pot, these guys are obviously healthy

and were not over-watered at all.

So, what do you think happened here?

Stay until the end of this video to get the answer.

So, for now, Tip Number 1 on how to save a dying succulent is to learn to spot one.

The very first thing that you need to know is that early detection is the key.

Let me show you which succulents look like they are dying but they're not.

Why is this important?

Because when some people would see this…this, and this, they would start freaking out and

would start going crazy with watering, which only makes things worse.

Do you want to know why I know?

This was me when I was starting.

So, what are the early signs of a dying succulent?

A dying succulent would have a darkening base.

If you would look at the leaves of the plant, the upper part looks healthy, but this base

here is showing signs of rotting.

This is a telltale sign of a dying succulent, a base that's constricting with a brown

rotting color.

Once you have identified the sick succulent, we will now proceed to step number 2 on how

to save a dying succulent, which is to locate the healthy part of the plant.

If you are quick enough, you will still have healthy parts to recover and these are the

leaves and the stem that looks more green and healthy.

Make sure to cut the stem about an inch away from the rotting section.

And since we are trying to save this dying succulent, let me share with you this message:

Be a person on a mission.

Whatever you do, make sure that each of them directs you towards your goal.

Be relentless.

So from this day forward, always tell yourself, I'm a person on a mission.

Step Number 3, after cutting, check the tip and make sure that there is no sign of rot

and that the tip has a citrusy smell instead of a pungent, moldy odor.

Also make sure that the tip has calloused over, which is roughly 2 to 3 days after cutting,

and once all of these are checked, it's time to proceed to Step Number 4, which is

to plant it in a temporary pot.

I'm planting this guy in this temporary pot for now 'cause I would rather wait for

about a month and a half before adding this to a group.

It is important to put this succulent in a controlled environment with no precipitation

or source of moisture and no harsh sun exposure, that' why I'm putting this guy in this

spot indoors.

In July here in Brentwood, California, it's way too hot for a recovering plant to deal

with.

I just want to make sure that he has grown enough roots and that he is stronger before

I send him off with the rest of the gang outside.

Here's the second plant and this takes us to Step Number 5 and option number 2 on how

to save a dying succulent, which is to pluck off the healthy leaves off of the dying plant

and propagate them.

I highly suggest that you still try to propagate even the leaves that look less likely to sprout

roots, 'cause most of the time, they still do.

So, aside from replanting the part of the plant that still looks healthy, propagating

the leaves gives you higher chance of still getting that same succulent going.

As promised, let me tell you what happened to these succulents and this is a very good

learning experience for me,too.

And you will definitely learn from it.

So, although these plants are not being watered very often, as you can tell from these healthy

succulents on this side, there is something very significant about how this pot is placed.

See, this planter used to be near the fence.

I realized that the side of the pot that is closest to the fence is so protected from

the sun that the soil near that side of the planter is not drying as fast.

When I used my moisture meter to measure how wet the soil is, the front part would register

as less moist at 2 or 3, but the rear registered as really wet at 6 or 7.

So, as a very important tip, before watering, test all sides with your moisture meter.

As long as your pot still register some moisture, postpone watering.

So, even if it is just 2 for moisture, it is still over-watering.

Okay, so remember, the best tip to save a dying succulent is early detection and checking

for moisture all over the pot.

And always remember to tell yourself this, I am a person on a mission and every step

I take, leads me there.

And again, this is Sheila, your person on a mission, for Succulent Fame.

Sending you inspirations with every succulent.

Remember to give this video a thumbs up and share this video, too.

Thank you so much for watching!

What You're Worth to God - Duration: 1:20.

- I was reading the Word one morning

and it says Jesus washes His bride

in the washing of water with the Word.

I read that scripture

and immediately I saw myself as a filthy bride.

Filthy.

And the Lord was going over to a vase of water

and He was putting His hands in this water

and very gently coming and just releasing it over my head.

And what I realized was, He had been doing this

since the day I got saved.

Did you know that when you got saved,

God knew you were not a short project?

(audience laughing)

How precious Jesus is.

You know, when they restore a masterpiece,

like been through a fire, they use a Q-tip?

And they go months at a time

and all they're trying to do is

to get the smut and stuff off

of the painting without touching any of the paint.

And they'll sit.

I'm too ADD.

I would take a paint scraper after it.

But did you know that that's what God has been doing to you

because you're so precious?

I could see how Jesus was not trying to scrub me down

but for all the years since I have been saved,

He was just taking His Word

and just gently washing me with it.

How much money is enough? | Vicki Robin - Duration: 5:43.

We talk about the old roadmap for money, and the old roadmap was born really out of the

industrial revolution.

It was born out of the sense of the "wild west," of "anything is possible," of

manifest destiny, of American exceptionalism, whatever you want to say.

Or you can go back even further to capitalism itself.

But the roadmap is: "growth is good, more is better, whoever dies with the most toys

wins."

It's a materialist roadmap, and the part of the roadmap is not only that; it's an

empty world.

"Uh oh, there were people here before the white people came.

And, you know animals.

There was already a living mature society—" "No, no, no.

It was empty."

And then the other part of it is that one of the essential ingredients of it that still

people, even if intellectually they understand it they do not get it, is that in that roadmap

the economy can grow forever and the Earth is like just sort of a toy chest.

You just keep reaching in there and pulling out resources, reaching in and pulling out

resources.

So the economy can grow infinitely because the Earth is an infinite cornucopia of resources.

The fact of the matter is that the economy is a fabrication, our economy is a fabrication,

a set of rules inside a finite planet.

There's a way to measure.

There's a way to measure the human impact, the impact of human consumption on the Earth.

It's called the ecological footprint, and they can measure every little scintilla of,

you know, my watch and my eyeglass.

Everything I have, everything we sit in, everything we walk around on, they can measure that in

terms of the amount of the planet it took to develop that.

So we have measured the amount of planet we have and humans are consuming more than the

amount of planet we have every year (that can be regenerated) ever since 1986.

That, to me, that data about overshoot has been a central feature of my life.

When I learned that, it was just sort of one of those things that's obvious, like, "certainly

we want to change."

So the old roadmap this idea that the Earth is a set of infinite resources, and the economy

can harvest those resources every which way from Sunday in order to produce economic growth.

That's fundamental and then it trickles down to the human as: "More is better."

And part of that is as the economy grew, as industrialization permitted more products

to be produced with less human labor there was a sort of a peaking out of consumption

around the 1920s and it became a problem, like what are we going to do?

So there's several ways to expand markets.

One is you export and another is to educate your citizens to want more than they need.

And then you've got an infinite market called the endless willingness of people to buy into

the story of 'more is better' and 'keep buying stuff.'

So that is the old roadmap: Growth is good, more is better, game over.

Not talking about the context of our lives, the social context where fairness is sort

of like built into us.

Babies all come with that stamp on them, you know.

Fairness is important and so you cannot stretch fairness and believe that there's no breaking

point.

So injustice aside, environmental integrity aside, more is better, growth is good, party

on.

The new roadmap says that there is something called "enough" and "enough" is not

sort of like this oppressive ceiling that, you know, "Okay, I've got enough and I

can't have any more."

No, enough is this sort of vibrant vital place.

What we teach is an awareness about the flow of money and stuff in your life in light of

your true happiness and your sense of purpose and values.

And that your "enough point," having Enough, is having everything you want and need to

have a life you love and full self-expression with nothing in excess.

It's not minimalism, it's not less is more, because sometimes more is more.

But it's that sweet spot.

It's the Goldilocks point.

And so Enough, for me, is like one of the absolute fulcrums between the old roadmap

for money and the new roadmap for money.

And our surveys of people who follow this program confirm again and again that once

people start to pay attention to the flow of money and stuff in their lives in this

way, their consumption drops by about 20 to 25 percent naturally, because that's the

amount of unconsciousness that you have in your spending.

So when you become conscious that falls away.

Many people say they don't even know what they used to spend their money on.

They are just—"Oh, surprise, I'm spending less.

I don't know how that happened.

I just paid attention.

I just asked myself is this purchase of something making me happy?"

Quotacy Q+A Fridays: What Factors Affect My Life Insurance Cost? - Duration: 3:12.

Welcome to Quotacy's Q&A Friday where we answer your life insurance questions.

Quotacy is an online life insurance agency where you can get life insurance on your terms. I'm Jeanna and I'm Natasha.

Today's question is what determines how much my life insurance will cost?

Well

When it comes to cost whether you're buying a permanent life insurance

policy or term life insurance

Policy makes a big difference. And because permanent policies are far more complex than term let's just stick to talking about term life insurance today.

No two people are the same. So, Jeanna, if you and I were to buy the exact same term life insurance policy

Chances are we're going to be paying different premium amounts. The main factors that go into determining your cost

Are your age, your health, your gender, and your lifestyle. Let's break these down. Sounds good.

Well, age is kind of obvious.

The older you are, the more you're going to pay for life insurance because the older you are, the closer you are to death

So the higher the chances the life insurance company is going to pay out that big death benefit sooner rather than later.

Gender plays a part because women pay less than men. Statistically, women live longer than men.

So, again, men pay more because the chances are higher that a payout will happen sooner rather than later.

Your health is arguably the biggest factor in determining your life insurance costs. The most common factors

We see here at Quotacy are sleep apnea, diabetes, depression, and high cholesterol.

But just because you have a medical issue doesn't mean you can't get life insurance coverage.

The severity of your condition and how well it's managed is going to play a part in what risk class you're put into.

Your family's health history is also taken into consideration.

If anyone in your immediate family

Your mother, father, brother, or sister has been diagnosed with any serious conditions such as coronary heart disease, cancer, or diabetes

The life insurance underwriters are going to take a closer look at your medical profile.

And earlier Jeanna mentioned that your lifestyle can affect your pricing. And when we say lifestyle we mean your job,

hobbies, whether you use marijuana,

your driving record, and maybe if you

Have a history of bankruptcy. And when we say hobbies life insurance companies don't care if you needlepoint or play Dungeons & Dragons.

The hobbies they care about are the more risky hobbies like rock climbing, backpacking in remote regions, and scuba diving.

Because so many factors come into play when you apply for life insurance

applying with an agency that works with multiple life insurance companies is going to be your best bet at getting approved at an affordable rate. And

Not a life insurance companies underwrite the same way. For example,

Marijuana use is viewed very differently between different insurance companies.

While one company may approve a recreational marijuana user with a standard smoker rate,

Which means you're paying the same amount as a cigarette smoker, another company may approve you as a nonsmoker.

It definitely pays to work with the company that will give you options. Quotacy

is a life insurance broker, which means we're not tied to any one life insurance company.

We'll take a look at your application and make sure the company you want to apply to is going to give you the best options.

Thanks for watching! If you have any questions about life insurance

How to Parallel Park | Infinity Insurance - Duration: 1:43.

Hi, I'm Fabi from Infinity Insurance, and today

I'm going to give you 10 easy steps to help you learn how

to parallel park, so let's get started!

First, find the right space.

Find a space that's several feet longer than your car

and pull up right next to the car you are planning

to park behind.

Next, position your car to the parked car you wish

to park behind.

It's important to let other drivers know your intentions,

so do so by breaking and turning on your turn signal.

Before reversing make sure to check your mirrors and

look over your shoulder.

Now it's time to put your car in reverse.

Release the brakes and slowly begin to reverse your car along

the side of the parked car until you see the other car's plate

in the middle of your window.

Turn your steering wheel to the right.

Straighten the steering wheel as you continue to move backwards.

Once the front of your vehicle has passed the back bumper of

the vehicle in the parking spot in front of you,

begin to turn your steering wheel to the left.

Once you reach your desired parking position, be sure to

check how close you are to the cars in front and back of you.

Remember to leave no more than 12 inches of distance from

your parked position to the curb.

Now you're a parallel parking expert! Until next time!
