Welcome
Today we are going to learn how to crochet
a simple heart
Like this one here
Let's begin and see how we are going to do it
we will start off by making a circle
we start it with a chain of three stitches
and close it with a slip stitch (Sl)
then we will be working into the center of this circle
and make nine single crochet stitches (SC)
one
two
I will wrap the yarn
so I can grab it together before I cut it to get a nice finishing
now we have done two stitches
I'm inserting the hook into the center of the circle
we should insert the hook into the center of the circle, not into another stitch
three
four
five
six
seven
eight
nine
I'm cutting this end off
to make it easier for me to work
so there are my nine single crochet stitches (SC)
all done inside the circle
I will not close the circle, I will turn it over like that
again to make it more clear, I'm turning it over like that
this is the side of the circle we worked on, I will turn it over to the opposite direction
insert the hook into the first chain without increasing the height of the chain
insert the hook directly into the first stitch
and make a single crochet stitch (SC)
then in the second stitch I'm going to make a half double crochet stitch (HDC)
try to memorize the steps to make it easy for you to work properly
in the very first stitch I made a single crochet stitch (SC)
in the second stitch I made a half double crochet stitch (HDC)
get the yarn again into the second stitch and make a double crochet (DC)
so again, in the first stitch I made a single crochet stitch (SC)
in the second stitch I will be making two different stitches
the first stitch is half double crochet stitch (HDC) and the second is a double crochet (DC)
before we carry on we need to clarify that so far we made two stitches
as we said before we made nine stitches so far
here we have the first and the second stitches
the third and fourth ones
then at the fifth stitch I'm going to put a pin to mark the half
then we carry on
just to clear things up, I started off by making a single crochet stitch (SC) in the first stitch
in the second stitch I made two different stitches, the first one was the half double crochet Stitch (HDC)
and the second was a double crochet (DC)
in the third stitch I'm making two double crochet (DC)
same thing for number four, I will make two double crochet (DC)
this is the first half of the heart I made so far
I will remove the pin
by now I already know I reached the half which is fifth stitch
which is the one I'm going to make three double crochet (DC) in it
do you memorize the steps we have gone through so far?
the first on is a single crochet stitch (SC)
in the second one I made two different stitches
I started with a half double crochet stitch (HDC) and the second was a double crochet (DC)
then in the third and fourth stitches I made in each one of them two double crochet (DC)
and in the fifth stitch which is in the center I made three double crochet (DC)
to make the second half I will repeat the same process but in reverse
which means I will make two double crochet (DC) in the sixth stitch
the same for seventh stitch, two double crochet (DC)
then in the eighth stitch I will make the two different stitches but I'm starting with the double crochet (DC)
as I said before I'm repeating the same steps but in reverse
and then the half double crochet stitch (HDC)
and in the ninth stitch I will make a single crochet stitch (SC)
right now the heart shape is starting to form
we can stop now if we want a small heart
these three stitches gave me this little bump here forming the heart shape
Let's make it a little more bigger
I will repeat the steps I did at the beginning, the first stitch will be a single crochet stitch (SC)
the second stitch is a half double crochet stitch (HDC)
and then a double crochet (DC)
before we carry on we need to mark the half
look for the stitch where we made the three double crochet (DC)
I need to mark the half which is the double crochet in the middle
and that's where I'm going to put the pin
I marked the half like that
Let's continue, we started the second row the same way as the first one
we started it with a single crochet stitch (SC) in the first stitch and the second one we started it with two stitches
a half double crochet stitch (HDC) and a double crochet (DC)
then in the third stitch I will make two double crochet (DC)
and two double crochet (DC) in the fourth stitch as well
also two double crochet (DC) in the fifth stitch
I still have three stitches left
I will make in each one of them only one double crochet (DC)
to recap what we have done so far, the first stitch was a single crochet stitch (SC)
in the second stitch we made two different stitches, the first one was a half double crochet stitch (HDC)
and the second was a double crochet (DC)
in third, fourth and fifth stitches we made two double crochet (DC) in each one of them
and in the next three stitches we made only one double crochet (DC) in each one of them
then we go to the pinned stitch at the half
and make three double crochet (DC) in it
then we repeat these steps but in reverse
so here we will reverse the steps we did in this part
so unlike the first half, in the first stitch we will make only one double crochet (DC)
we will make only one double crochet (DC) in the second stitch, also one double crochet (DC) in the third stitch
in the fourth stitch we will make two
also the fifth has two as well
also there are two in the sixth stitch
in the one before last, first we will make double crochet (DC) and then a half double crochet stitch (HDC)
in the last stitch I will make a single crochet stitch (SC)
and to finish the heart I will go below here to this stitch
focus please, almost done and this is how it looks
I will go to this stitch below the single crochet stitch (SC) and make a slip Stitch (Sl)
just to close the heart shape, and then I will make a ring and cut it to finish the heart like that
and I'm going to close the heart shape with a cleaning needle
like that
I will yarn it over into the chains
I will yarn it over a little bit before I cut it
and now we made a simple heart
Thank you
