Hi everyone! Welcome to our review of the Jockey Club in Las Vegas.
Back in April 2018, Steve and I had a chance to tour the dazzling Las Vegas for
a week. Las Vegas! The City of Sin. The City of Light. The Gambling Capital of the
World. The Capital of Second Chances. However you call it, it does what it says on the tin!
So it's not a surprise when you are presented with a plethora of hotels to
choose from. To decide where to stay can be overwhelming! But there is one thing
that's for sure: to stay along the Strip, where all the action is! And that's just
exactly what the Jockey Club offers. The Jockey Club is not a grand majestic hotel
(to the likes of Caesars Palace and The Bellagio) but more of a serviced
apartment type hotel where the facilities are on a small scale but
the rooms are equipped with a kitchen. By the way, we booked our room through a
timeshare exchange program with Interval International. The Jockey Club is a
timeshare accommodation but you can still book it online through your
favorite hotel booking websites or applications. So where exactly is the
Jockey Club? If you look at this photo here that we have taken from the Eiffel
Tower, it is actually that minute building nestled between the towering
Cosmopolitan buildings and The Bellagio fountains! So if you are lucky, you could have a
room with a view of the Strip and the fountains.
There is no grand entrance to the Jockey Club either as it is tucked away down
what appears to be a service road. You might have a problem finding where it is!
We could have but we drove from LA to Vegas. We accessed the parking through The Cosmo parking
entrance. It's free parking, by the way. We had a car hire. Because we knew there was
a Hertz office at The Cosmo, we use the same car rental service for convenient drop-off.
This is the entrance to the lobby.
It is small, as you can see! Then if you turn right, you have the automatic glass doors
to take you to the check-in counter at the far end. To your left would be the
hospitality room where you could get free coffee and popcorn everyday.
And donuts every Friday! But you would have to be really up early to be able to catch it.
We arrive quite late, around 9PM, so there was no queue at the counter.
It was quick. The lady was very informative, giving us all the necessary documents.
And of course our keys! Then we walked to the lifts. The lifts were so slow!
So this is our room. We were at the ninth floor. We had a one-bedroom apartment with
fully equipped kitchen. Everything is functional. It was an open-plan lounge
and dining. There [are] lots of sitting areas. It's huge!
It's definitely massive for Steve and myself. There's TV that we never bothered
switching on. There is a cloakroom, and across that is the bedroom.
There's also another TV there that again we never bothered switching on.
The bedroom has two queen beds. Obviously, we only used one. Then there is a
walk-in closet. Inside [are] the safety deposit box, the ironing board. [There's] lots of
hanging spaces, but there [are] no shelving(s), however. Then we got the en suite. Everything is
alright. It was clean. Then of course we got provided with towers and toiletries
and the likes. So while this room tour is ongoing, let me just tell you our
overall impression of the place. It is quite dated! We saw some signs of age on some
parts. But we could also see evidences that the management has tried to keep
everything functional. Don't get me wrong, it is a nice place to stay [at] but it wouldn't
be fair if you compare it against the popular hotels along the Strip.
We were quite unclear about their housekeeping regime. With what we thought was
done everyday (like cleaning the room and making up the beds), seems to be happening only
once or twice a week! So we were quite disappointed to see "these" when we
arrived back from our side-trip to the Grand Canyon. For the experience, we are
rating the hotel seven point five out of ten! The winning factor of the hotel
is its location, location, location! Everything about Vegas is close by.
In our opinion, this hotel is good value for money.
It doesn't have the glitz and glamour of a Vegas luxury. It is really mainly for
accommodation. It doesn't have its own casino, but it has The Cosmopolitan right
next door. The Bellagio, Planet Hollywood, Paris Las Vegas.
Everything! It is right where the action is. Will we stay again? A resounding YES!
