James Washington's Cars-Country-Community Plan - Duration: 3:38.

- For me it's about focus -

always keeping your eyes open to the present,

but looking toward the future,

so that when I step away from the spotlight,

step off the field, I'm prepared to take the perfect shot.

- You got that one out?

We'll put another one on now.

- When I think about my future a lot....

- That bolt, stick it back through there.

- ... with just being a rookie,

you always have to be cognizant

of what you're gonna do after football.

I do have plans. And for me that plan is

cars, country and community.

Working on cars ... it's a way that you can make money, and

I'm so passionate about it that it'll be fun doing it.

I'm more of a hands-on type of guy.

I never kind of picked up on the whole

sitting in the office, and just there all day.

I want to get my hands dirty and just show that I'm worth

something.

Once football is over

I do envision flippin' cars. Just seeing the smiles

on people's faces when they have a vehicle restored,

that's more than words can explain.

- All the way.

- It came from my dad.

There's nothing that he can't fix. He's like a all-around

handyman.

He's my dad, but he's almost like that role-model,

big-brother type. I cherish every moment,

you know, working on these cars and trucks with him.

Cars for me are like pictures.

You know, all the memories are right there.

We're looking at 'em each and

every day, giving you those memories of the people that you

worked on it with.

- I guess we better check the oil pressure on it, too,

when you first start it up. Make sure it's got oil pressure.

- I've lived in Stamford for 22 years.

Even though it's small, you know....

You see red lights.

It's what I love.

What I like about this town is it's just simple.

Everything's so simple here, you know.

You don't really run into much conflict.

The community here, they're really giving.

Everyone is usually friendly to each other and willing

to give a helping hand.

Right now we are headed out to Thane Farms.

You know, we've got a heavy rainfall here.

Just gonna kind of make sure it's all intact.

Being outdoors, for me, is peaceful, just to see nature.

As a kid, just being around my dad on the tractor, he'd let

the armrest down and let me sit in there with him, and watch

what he did every single day.

I do have plans to open a ranch - and not nothing too big,

but a few cattle.

Just kind of make a little money that way.

For the most part, everyone here, you know, they're hunters

or some type of outdoorsmen.

I started bowhunting about three years ago.

Bowhunting is challenging because, for me, it's a moment

of tension.

You know, your mind's focused, it's zoned in,

it's going through all the steps that I've practiced.

Hand out of the way, breathe, just kinda relax.

That time and moment, it feels just as good as scoring

a game-winning touchdown.

If I was to walk off the field now,

I would live somewhere out in the middle of nowhere,

having a bunch of land, hunting, cattle,

you know, having my garage and my classic vehicles.

And working with my hands, you know. I guess it was just

kind of instilled in me - when you grab something,

just hold on tight and don't let go.
