Welcome to Lake Washington High School, home of the Kangaroos.
I'm Christina Thomas the principal.
Lake Washington High school was built in 2011 to accommodate a 3 year high school model.
In 2012 and 2013 Lake Washington School district moved to 4 year high school model,
which increased the number of students attending Lake Washington.
We are continuing to experience growth every year.
We've gone from a school of 900 students in 2011
to now a student body 1597 students.
The next few years is looking at incoming classes of over 400 students.
Next year we are planning to be over 1700.
In future years even more.
It's very crowded, especially during passing periods.
It's very difficult getting through so many people.
Even in the halls, sometimes the halls can just get packed.
It's a little bit overwhelming.
When Lake Washington high School was built, there was a plan to build a second phase addition
to accommodate future growth.
Lake Washington High School with the additionof 9th grade,
and increased enrollment is now in need of this addition.
We've added 10 portables in the last 2 years
to accommodate growth.
An addition will increase the number of classrooms to 52 classrooms.
An addition to Lake Washington High School is part of the Lake Washington School District
bond measure, which is on the ballot on February 13th ballot.
