Hi, I am Dustin from nanobike and I introduce you to the new products from Specialized for the year 2019.
Today it's about the Specialized Levo FSR Carbon in the 29 inch version, in the color blue tint carbon white.
The main frame of this model is made of carbon and it's blue.
Looks like the blue of the fountain pen. Anyone who had to write a pen in school at the time will know this color well.
The carbon mats of the frame can be seen through the blue through.
You can not see that with the studio light - but outside under the sun, you can see that very well.
That looks very very good. Specialized did that well. I like it very much.
The white occurs in the logo and in other smaller parts. That's why the color is blue tint and white.
This bike is available in 4 sizes. S, M, L and XL.
Next to me you can see the size M. People with a height from 175cm to 185cm can easily ride it.
Who is taller takes the L! So everything from 185cm the L.
For the trail always tend to a smaller size. Therefore you have to check at 175cm if the S wouldn't fit better. There are also those.
Let's start - there is much to tell. I have to hurry up a bit.
The main frame is made of FACT 9m carbon. This is a very high quality carbon.
There is also the S-WORKS version. But this one is quite sufficient.
It is very light and of high quality and stiff.
That's what we want.
The rear is made of M5 aluminium. This is nothing new but something very durable.
The FACT 5M is nothing new in itself, but the combination is just a little unique.
More stiffness in the back and more flex and lightness in the front.
So that's what the carbon frame is about.
The rear end of the 2019 version has been reworked.
This year it's optimized - it's relieved.
In addition, it has become stiffer. So that's what we want in this area.
I would classify the bike in the All Mountain area.
With this suspension, the tendency even goes to an enduro.
Let's continue with the frame.
By default, the cables are laid internally.
It has to be like this. This contributes to safety and aesthetics.
Nowadays it's part of it - we do not have to talk about that anymore.
Here is an X-Fusion Manic seat post installed.
It also goes completely through the frame. Very clean look from the bike. Very good.
Let us now turn to the special features of the frame. The right side in driving direction has this small strut.
Behind it is the damper and it is attached to it.
This is open on the left side. This is the new design for 2019.
That's the case with all full suspension models.
If you like, take a look at Specialized.com
Not even e-bikes have this framework.
That looks really cool. At the Stumpjumper for example - it is without electric support.
To keep the chain better, a chain guide was installed down here.
I think it's really good. That makes a lot of sense.
I also know something from that time, from Donwhill.
It is only a small part - but makes a lot.
Although it is a narrow wide chainring, which keeps the chain better anyway, this guide also helps.
Also a bottle holder is included.
On top of the stem is no Ahead cap on it, but a small flap.
This flap can be pushed aside and it comes out a mini tool.
So I have a small tool for adjusting the parts.
The saddle or the seat post, for example.
Or quickly set the brake with the Torx tool.
Then you just put it back - push the flap again and you're done.
Very well done. Specialized - very cool!
The battery is completely integrated into the frame.
That is - you can not see the battery anymore.
The model 2018 had a thru axle which you had to unscrew.
Here it is so that you have to screw the engine cover down and the battery slips out.
For this you have to make the cover for the charging cable aside and then you can simply pull out the battery.
You can then load it externally.
But even on the charging jack you can store it without expanding it.
A 4 amp charger is included.
The control to turn on the bike is up here on the new models.
The button is not on the battery, but on the top tube. Just press a button.
The bike briefly checks all functions and is ready to drive.
The display shows the three driving modes and the driving mode that are currently set.
After a few seconds you can start already.
So as before - I have the feeling it has become a little faster.
According to data, nothing should have changed.
Quite good, I like this component on the down tube.
It prevents a twisting of the fork.
A Barspin is therefore not possible.
Of course, you can also unscrew this rubber buffer.
But it makes sense - so better not.
A barspin at the cable length may not be that good either.
They are too short.
A very rough chain guard is installed.
That's cool - in the sport it makes perfect sense.
Therefore, keep it.
There are thru axles installed - this brings more stability, rigidity and safety.
Especially with these 29 inch wheels you should make sure that everything is stiff.
Rear mounting width is 148mm, so it's a BOOST hub.
This allows the installation of a wider tire and rim.
As a result, the tire comes closer to the frame and thus you have shorter chainstays.
The bike is more agile, despite the 29 inch wheels.
I like it very much!
The linkage for the damper is called ManFU in this model - this is shaped like the Fu Manchu beard.
Hence the name ManFu.
Just a little edge information, in case someone wonders what ManFu stands for.
Let's go to the cockpit.
Trail Stem, Trail Handlebar and Waffle Grips by Specialized.
I already introduced the stem with the SWAT flap.
The handlebar is 780mm wide. This can of course be shortened.
With this wheel size, you should keep this for the time being and ride 400-500 kilometers.
Then you can determine exactly whether the handlebars should be shortened or not.
With the Grips, the diameter is slightly smaller for the sizes S and M and for L and XL accordingly a little larger.
Even just as a side note.
X-Fusion Manic Vario seat post is installed.
This is variably adjustable in height.
In size S, it is 125mm from here to here.
In size M, L and XL 150 mm. This is completed with a saddle clamp by Specialized and a Phenom Comp saddle.
The saddle is 143mm wide. In the model 2018 - it was a Henge saddle. So no big difference.
They are both okay.
Let's get to the shock absorbers. Fox chassis front and rear.
The model 2018 had a RockShox suspension. In the front the Revelation and in the rear of the Monarc shock with 135mm travel.
Now Fox with 150mm travel both in front and rear.
That's why I said in the beginning it is almost an Enduro.
The rear suspension is a float DPS.
This can be set in triplicate. So you can block it almost completely and go great up the mountains.
You can also adjust the rebound, so how should the bike respond.
You can do the same with the Fox 34 Rhythm fork. As mentioned, this has a travel of 150mm.
On the left you have the possibility the Filling the fork with air to adjust the weight and the trail.
The rear suspension also has such a valve.
So it can be set very individually.
On the right side of the suspension fork is the air cartridge.
This allows the driver to almost block the fork.
The flow of oil can be regulated so that the fork responds only very tough, so you get a mountain well.
Open on the mountain and drive back down and use the whole 150mm.
Down right is the red adjusting wheel, so you can adjust the rebound at the front of the fork.
A Roval Traverse wheelset in 29 inches is installed.
The rims are 30mm wide. Allows you ride a Butcher Grid tire in the 29x2.6 deminsion.
The tire has the gripton mixing. This is a very good tire mix.
The width of the tyre as well as the studs and their arrangement are optimal.
Off-road, this tire is a lot of fun. Of course, less on asphalt.
It can be converted to tubless. The tire is tubless ready - the sealing tape and the corresponding valves are included.
I have not seen it, but in this price range it is usually included by Specialized.
Steel spokes, boost hubs front and rear.
Both front and rear, a thru axle is installed.
As often mentioned, it increases the stiffness and of course the control of the bike.
The brakes are SRAM Guide RE four piston brakes.
Combined with 200mm brake discs front and rear.
That's massive braking power. They definitely get you to stop.
Until the power is 100% there, they need a bit of braking time. So in about 50-80km.
These brakes are fun. So not only fast driving is fun, but also good braking! Maybe even make a stopie.
The circuit is an SRAM S700. 1x11 shift lever on the right.
At the back is the SRX GX rear derailleur. 11 gegars as mentioned.
PG11 30 cassette in the 11-42 gradation. With this you can get up every mountain.
Also with this bike, which weighs a bit more. Everything is possible, even if the bike should be off.
In front is a 32 narrow bite chainring mounted, combined with a 165mm Praxis crank and a KMC chain.
A great setup, works perfectly, what more could we want?
Did we forget something? Not really.
A 4 amp charger is included.
A charge of 0 to 100 takes about 3-4h.
It is a 500W / h battery installed - in 2018 it was a 504W / h battery installed.
4W / h less is about 1s less driving time.
The new Brose 2.1 engine is installed. In the description of Specialized, this engine is called Specialized 2.1 engine.
But anyone who deals with these bikes knows that it is a Brose engine.
The engine has become lighter and smaller. The heat management has gotten better.
If I read it correctly, it has also become a little quieter.
It still has 250 watts nominal.
It is trail tuned by specialized.
This has made him a bit more lively and agile.
Differences to the 2018 models:
As mentioned this bracket on the side.
The control unit is 2019 on the top tube and not on the down tube on the battery.
The battery can now be removed below.
The trail stem with the SWAT tool is new.
Mechanics, new engine, battery capacity, the new rear triangle, other saddle.
The brakes were similar to the previous year model ... It has changed a lot.
The bike is very future-oriented. I like it very, very much.
Let's get to the price: MSRP is 6799 euros.
That's 800 euros more than for the 2018 model.
Yes, it has become 800 euros more expensive.
Due to the frame, brakes, Fox suspension, new engine etc .... yeah it's 800 euros more.
6800 Euro, you have to have it first.
Who has the money, congratulations you can buy a really cool bike and where I would envy you for that.
This was the Levo FSR Comp Carbon in 29 inches in the color blue tint white.
