--Skid Row is hitting DC when Little Shop of Horrors goes to the Kennedy Center

later this month. We stopped by rehearsal to talk to Megan

Hilty, Josh Radnor and the rest of the starry cast. --Little Shop of Horrors is a

musical about these two kids who live in Skid Row, and they work at a flower shop.

Seymour has acquired through varying circumstances this strange and unusual

plant. But one thing we learned throughout the show is this plant is

alive and eats human beings. --The urchins are kind of like the Greek chorus, but we,

you know, set up the situation. We tell the story.

--And we're smarter than everybody

else. --Yeah.

--And the music's incredible. It's just like a perfectly written script,

score, music, everything, lyrics. It's it's perfect.

--[sings] Suddenly Seymour,

[all sing]--Suddenly Seymour

-- He purified me

--he purified you.

--Suddenly Seymour [all] --Suddenly Seymour

--Showed me I can!

--Yes, you can!

--When I did Seymour 36 years ago, I went boy, those those Mushniks are old men.

Now, I looked them up and I'm the oldest one that's ever done it.

--Well, Lee is, and

I mean this in the best way, like he's not someone who seeks to intimidate or

say Back when we did it we did it this way! You know? He's not like that.

--It's a dream come true. I've been wanting to do

this for so long, so I'm just thrilled

that I get to do this, and at the Kennedy Center. --This is a great room. I mean I

feel like this is something special is happening in this room, and we're gonna

have a grand time DC.

--And it's the perfect show for a pre Halloween

engagement. --Pre-Halloween and also

probably speaks to our political moments, when

there's you know flesh-eating monsters everywhere.

[laughs]
