Tara: So wait, is this the stairwell?

Steven: I don't know

Both: It looks like the photos Tara: Yeah.

So heres the story. My understanding.

Uh, A contestant for American Idol Steven? American Idol?

He was staying here with his wife and she mysteriously fell off the top of the stairs to her death.

This this is the stairwell.

Steven: well it makes sense because the the story is that she went to go get ice 2 a.m. and I can hear the ice machine.

Tara: Right. Oh. Steven: So she went to go get ice and on the way back.

Tara: Ohhhh. Yeah, we are near the ice machine. This is like around the corner for our room.

Tara: What the hell?

Steven: Ummm.... I don't like this.

Steven: I don't want to go in there.

Tara: [gasp] What the hell is that?

Natalie: I would venture that if we both- all three of us stepped through this door that it would close behind us.

Steven & Tara: Oh 100%

Natalie: Dowsing Rods aren't doing anything. The EVP thing wasn't doing anything either.

Natalie: Is there a spirit here right now? And can we speak to you?

"Yes" to my right. "No" to my left.

Natalie: I got nothin'. Tara: It's thinkin about it.

Natalie: Or there's nothing.

To my right is "yes" my left is "no"

Is there a spirit here and may we speak to you?

I was weird I'm just absolutely nothing happens.

May we converse with you?

Tara: Were you friends with someone who was a guest at the hotel?

Natalie: That doors open.

Natalie: Is there a ghost here that would like to talk to us?

"No" to my left. "Yes" to my right.

May we ask you questions? "No" to my left. "Yes" to my right.

Okay. Resetting.

Are you the girl?

Are you a man?

Just trying to establish a baseline.

Were are you a guest here once?

Are you a guest here now?

I can feel it going to the right. I can already fee it.

I can already. It like started. Like very slowly I felt it going.

Tara: That's crazy.

Are you having a good day?

I need to bone up on questions to ask. Tara: Yeah, introductory...

Like what other the questions I should ask

Tara: Us too. Natalie: Us too. Thank you.

Is your favorite color blue?

Because why not ask that question right? Right? Why not?

You like the color blue but it's not necessarily your favorite?

Thats a weird question ask. Yeah, leaning towards yes, yeah that's kind of-

I'm not doing that.

Tara: That. That's. It's not

Natalie: Oh my god I just got chills from head to toe.

Tara: The way that it looks right now looks different than it did before.

Natalie: Okay I feel really weird.

Tara: yeah?

Tara: yeah that's moving differently

Natalie: Oh my god Tara no no no no no no no no.

Tara: You're okay.

Natalie: I'm okay, I have goose bumps from..

Tara: Yeah, I know. Me too.

Tara: I wanna like guess his name or something

Natalie: that's too open ended.

Tara: I know theres no way to do it.

Natalie: Oh that felt really weird. That felt... like now I'm really cold.

Like you know when you get those fever chills?

Like and it just held on. And then I just felt it like let go.

Was that you?

Oh but it's happening again.

Tara: it's not moving the same way it's moved.

Natalie: No, that's it that's doing it.

Tara: its definitely-

Natalie: It's doing it again. I can feel it again.

Tara: Hey, nice to meet ya.

Natalie: Hi.

Tara: is your- oh wait, I guess back to baseline back to back to the center.

Natalie: Can we go back- Wait. It's letting go again.

It's literally like really weird how the whole body feels it.

Okay, that was you. I know it was. You don't have to say yes again.

That was really strong.

That was a little it's a little- almost a little overwhelming so can we maybe

not do that the same way again?

Is there something you would like to tell us?

it's okay if you don't want to tell us something

you can say no

yeah.

yeah, you are doing that.

yeah, I'll get my thumb out of the way, sorry.

Are you normally in the boardroom behind me?

Are you in whatever's to my left?

Okay. Should I open that door?

because I don't really want to so it's okay to say no.

Tara: We are behind you if you say no.

Natalie: Just asking if you want me to.

You don't care.

Good because I don't want to.

Are you still here?

I don't feel all the same things I was feeling.

I'm taking it like 'not an answer' is a "no" as well.

Tara: Yeah, I think- Natalie: Silence is also "no"

Tara: Yeah, I would think so.

Natalie: Okay, were gonna move on.

We are gonna move on.

Pocztówka z 1916 r., na której ukazany został Hotel Europejski w Warszawie - Duration: 1:57.

We present a charming postcard from 1916, on which was shown Hotel Europejski, one of the most famous and oldest Warsaw hotels.

"Europejski" was built on the site of the former Ogiński's palace.

The hotel was designed by Henryk Marconi with his sons.

The construction of a large building "at Saski Square 1" was realized for those times very quickly, because in the years 1855-56.

It was quickly expanded from 90 to 240 hotel rooms, thanks to the addition of a wing from the side of Krakowskie Przedmieście street.

There were apartments, salons, well-known restaurants and cafes.

Some of the rooms were rented for long periods, in which they had their own workshop, paiter Józef Chełmoński,

reportedly Stanisław Witkiewicz also worked on his paintings there.

The "Europejski" also housed the showroom of Aleksander Krywult and the Lourse café.

The hotel had sewerage and the first one a hydraulic lift in Warsaw.

But until the First World War, he did not have a central one because he did not want to give up the use of stoves.

During World War II, the hotel was occupied by the Germans. During the Uprising, the building was burned.

He was picked up from the ruins by a team led by Bohdan Pniewski

and in accordance with the order of the then authorities, he rebuilt the headquarters of the Military Political School.

It regained its original purpose only after 1956 and after many years of reconstruction.

From May this year - after another renovation - the hotel regained its splendor.

A beautiful drawing of postcards lets you look for a hotel building in its shape from a hundred years ago

and feel into the atmosphere of Warsaw from this period.

One job should be enough Marriott hotel workers strike hits eight US cities US news - Duration: 4:36.

One job should be enough Marriott hotel workers strike hits eight US cities US news

Eight thousand members of the Unite Here union are demanding a living wage from the company that made $3.2bn last year

Eight thousand members of the Unite Here union are demanding a living wage from the company that made $3.2bn last year

In eight cities across the US, almost 8,000 Marriott hotel employees are walking picket lines demanding better wages, workplace safety, and a seat at the table for technology changes in the latest strike organized among America's low-wage workers.

Although the workers represent a small fraction of total worldwide Marriott employees, the union representing striking workers, Unite Here, is calling this "the largest multi-city hotel strike in North American history".

Nearly two dozen hotels have been affected including in Boston, San Francisco, Honolulu, Kauai, Detroit, San Diego, Oakland and San Jose, according to Marriott International and Unite Here. The union represents approximately 20,000 Marriott hotel employees in total with another quarter-million workers in related industries.

Although demands vary slightly between striking properties, the workers are striking under the slogan "One job should be enough," a corollary to the Fight for $15 Movement spanning the service industry and demanding living wages in a rapidly changing economy. Activists say incomes have lagged far behind inflation and cost of living, and many complain they must often work two or three full-time jobs to afford basic necessities.

"I, at my age, have never had children myself because there's no hope that I could afford – with the wages I'm making – to take care of a wife and a child. I'll probably end up dying that way because I've never had enough," said Michael Greenia, 55, a Marriott cook, while he stood inside a blue-tarp strike tent on a frigid and windy night in Detroit.

As he spoke, a small group of strikers beat snare and bass drums and blew whistles while walking in a circle in front of the Greek columns of the Westin Book Cadillac hotel, a cornerstone of downtown Detroit's economic resurgence. They chanted slogans including, "Dirty beds, dirty sheets, take your business down the street."

Workers in Detroit are saying they make $2-$5 an hour or $6,000 less per year on average than other major hotels in town, including another Marriott property, which is not on strike. Workers also say they would like a voice in coming technological changes, and that they suffer from injuries due to excessive workload and inadequate equipment.

It is a common story. "We're over here sacrificing our bodies and our health, by skipping our lunch breaks, by holding it, having to use the bathroom, because that's going to take time away from us cleaning our rooms. We sacrifice our lives to get these rooms to standard," said housekeeper Jowenna Ellazar, by phone from Honolulu in Hawaii.

Contract negotiations began to break down this summer. The nationwide strike began in Boston when approximately 1,500 workers walked off the job in the first week of October, and has since spread. Unite Here says all locals are able to strike at will, and the strike is indefinite until demands are met.

"We see ourselves at Unite Here as helping to restore the strike to the labor movement," said Rachel Gumpert, national spokeswoman for the union.

Marriott International would not comment directly on ongoing negotiations, but released a statement to the Guardian which read in part:

"While we respect our associates' rights to voice their opinions and participate in demonstrations and this work stoppage, we are disappointed that Unite Here has chosen to resort to a strike. During the strike our hotels are open, and we stand ready to serve our guests … We remain committed to negotiating in good faith to reach a fair contract for all parties. We will welcome any associate who chooses to continue to work."

Management for the Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit did not return calls for comment.

The willingness to strike is somewhat rare recently, according to Marick Masters, director of Labor@Wayne, at Wayne State University, dropping from a height of hundreds of strikes a year in the 1960s, to five to 20 a year over the last few decades. But it is coming back now, as evidenced by a wave of teachers' strikes earlier this year that provided a shot in the arm for US labor activists.

"I think we're going to see more movement for unions," Masters aid, both in attempts for additional organization and increased agitation in those already unionized. "It is symptomatic of the fact that for years workers in general have suffered stagnant or declining wages and shrinking benefits, and the tipping point has been reached where they want to assert their ability to extract what they consider to be a fair price for their services."

Marriott is the largest and probably most profitable hotel company in the world, with earnings of $3.2bn for 2017. The strikes may be having an economic impact on hotel owners, as high-profile conferences and galas have moved from striking properties including a CityLab conference in Detroit, and the large Communications Network conference in San Francisco.

"In a time when the popular narrative says that unions cannot organize, Unite Here is rapidly organizing and growing because of the courage and strength of our members," wrote D Taylor, international president of Unite Here, in a statement to the Guardian. "Our Unite Here Marriott strikers are transforming the hospitality industry, and raising standards for all North American workers."

Back on the chilly picket line in Detroit, Unite Here Local 24's president, Nia Winston, was confident during the third week of the strike.

"All we're asking for is a livable wage, our fair share, and parity," She said. "A worker … should not have two and three jobs to make ends meet."

She was echoed by Mahalaleel Burbidge, a Westin cook, rhythmically beating a bass drum.

"The stage that's been set in America has been set for people to barely survive. I'm swimming with my nose underwater."
