Atlast...it's DONE!...
Alright, it took much of my free time, but I had finally finished my Time Travel machine.
Now I can use it to go back in time and spend more time working on my videos.
Wouldn't make more sense to use that time on just making more videos?
(ha ha) Of course a moron like you would say that, but I, an intellectual, who learned from one of the brigthest minds that had ever existed
I'm beyond simple minds like yours.
(sigh) Master, wherever you are I hope you're proud of me.
*I didn't realised that the portrait was also green, ignore that little detail.
Now. it's time to calibrate the machine, and the best part is that I don't need to bring this huge thing wherever I want to go
Instead I created an APP so I can travel just using my phone.
now, I'll try something easy enough as sending me 5 minutes to the pa-
...what the? How about that? instead of sending me 5 minutes, I was send 500 years. (ha, ha). Dumb machine.
Alright, there is no need for panic, this is why one must test this things. now I'll just send me back to the present.
of course, any idiot that put all his eggs on one basket would start to panic, but as an intellectual I have a planB
If for any reason I can't come back, I installed a feature on the machine to automatically bring me back.
So I should be back at any moment
At aaaany moment...
*Meanwhile in the present
Well. It seems I'm not longer needed here. (mmmh, mmmh)
This guy has an issue of leaving wires on the way
Dammit, how many times did I told him to stop using Windows?. No time for panic. He must had left the instructions somewhere in here
Basic guide to use the time Machine
Vol. 1 of 38
*Back in the Past
It seems I'll stay here for a while. So I'll take advantage of this enviroment and do a review of Mount&Blade 2: Bannerlord
Or that's what I would say if the game was already out. So Plan B: KingdomCome Deliverance
Finally after a successul Kickstarter and about 4 years of develoment, KCD came out with many promises to fulfill
Did it live up to the hype?. Well, yes and no. Let's get to the point, many were expected this game to be closer
to the mount and Blade franchise. From which you must had already hear about. Because I made a joke about it 1 minute ago
But with a bigger focus on it's story, and in a open world with battles and sieges more impressive than what the other franchise could offer.
But unlike what that Kickstarter video they show us back then, The final game lacks the battles and sieges of the size they promised us.
Despite liking the end product, I feel I should mention this because it's in part false publicity. old publicity.
But we should have in mind that many people sure donated money to the project wanting this.
But I don't think this was made with greedy intentions and the Devs just faced some limitation on what they could do with the Engine
So they decided to scale down this feature. Besides that, there was the controversy of the accusations to the devs of racism and misogyny
Due to the lack of black characters and lack of female characters with important roles
To which I'll jsut answer NO, Simply NO. I won't get into this forced controversy. So I'll just limit myself to say NO.
Anyway. let's talk about the game itself, KCD places us on The Bohemia of the 15th century
Making us play as Henry, the son of the Blacksmith of the Village Skalitz. No, we don't play as an avatar created by us.
Which makes sense, sinse the game has a bigger focus on it's story and characters.
Henry Starts as a good for nothing, whom gets a bigger role when his village get invaded and destroyed by some invaders
Due to being one of the few survivers, Henry embarks on a quest for Search, and revenge of his mudered parents.
And recover the last sword his father made before dying. Don't worry, this isn't too big of a spoiler, all of this happends even before the title of the game.
Personally I liked how they handled the story, the which is in part based on historic events. with some creative freedom to make it more interesting
This with a excellent direction and cutscenes quality. Even though the story is pretty serious
it had many moments that got a good laugh out of me, due to the dialogues, situations or the characters personalities.
From which I liked a lot, even Hans Capon, whos starts the game a spoiled brat with no sense of responsibility
And disrespecting Henry on every turn, but with time I couldn't avoid loving this a-hole as he and Henry established a good friendship.
Or if I know the internet, more than just a "friendship"
(sigh) To bad we don't have any romantic options with him, oh well, sure there is fan art for that and fan fictions.
But despite doing many things right and the story length is more than decent. There is something I should mention
and it could be taken as a spoiler, but those that are interested in getting this product should be aware of this.
The story ends in a clifhanger. yes, it was a start, a middle and a climax, but by the end we don't fulfill
the main quest the game sets for us; avenge our parents and recover the sword. even though I wasn't too annoyed by the clifhanger.
But who cares about the story if the gameplay isn't good?. Don't answer, it was a rhetorical question.
I'm glad to say the gameplay of KCD is GREAT.
The Combat system is one of it's strongest features. Allowing us to focus in one foe
and attack from 5 different directions and stab, and also defend from each direction.
Henry starts off pretty useless and will require that some characters teach him some basic moves before be able of use them.
We will also need to practice to improve our skills with each weapon we wish to use and improve our stats.
As they improve, we will get more advantages while figthing. like doing counters, making an enemy stepback after a struggle or even bypass their defenses
As we level up we will unlock perks to gain or unlock different abilities OR improve a stat in exchange of worsening another.
We have different weapons to choose, from Swords divided in short and long, to maces, warhammers and my personal favorites AXES.
Each one with their own pros and cons and combos to use. I do admit this system is pretty competent and satisfying once you master it.
But I do feel that after a bit of grind I became too powerful. I won't say the game becomes too easy
But on my first game when I faced a boss he took many tries to defeat him. but on my second game I went more prepared and I literally beated him with TWO HITS
I had more troubles facing random mercenary and knight that challenge you to duel in the middle of the road.
I guess this happends because the boss has a unprotected head and the game has enough logic so a hit with an axe on the head would kill most people.
Although in a free patch they added a higher difficulty mode. and on this the boss comes with a helmet and a better armour.
So I guess he is stronger, I can't say for experience but I'm glad they adressed that.
At the beginning the lack of experience from both the player and Henry can make the game pretty brutal.
But once you improve the character enough and master the combat system to the pojnt of doing it by instinct it can feel too easy
But despite that I still felt the combat system satisfying from beginning to end. and it can be pretty frustating
when you get a good hit by an foe just to get another inmediatly with no mercy, but that is part of the charm
just as facing many enemies at the same time. because trying to focus on a single foe while trying to left the other behind isn't too easy to do
letting an enemy get to on your back could fatale and if you're not careful you can still die easily on higher levels.
We also count with bow and arrows but it's system if something that requires practice and studying from the player
Instead of just giving us a aimsight. we (the player) have to use our own intuition to guess where the arrow will go
It's a bit annoying and even on further levels it's still hard to give the target.
Some perks would had helped for those that wanted to play with a Robin Hood style. but we get almost no perk that helps archery
And it's even worse for the polearms. They do exist but we cannot put them in our inventory, and if we carry one it's like if we were on combat mode all the time
And it's annoying to heard the NPCs complaining about us for having our weapons draw. and I din't test long enough to see if they attack you just for that
And just like bows, they have no perks. The combat system isn't the only thing the game offers,
Most of the main and secondary quest doesn't just boil down to fetch quests. Which is usually a curse on this kind of games as filler
Many of the quest are open to the player to figure out how to solve them and isn't always obvious what we must do,
and I LOVE it. PLUS many of them have different outcomes
Alright, that doesn't mean some people might find it repetive due to all the dialogues we must do to get clues of what to do next.
And there one quest about some old lady that was victim of a ghost during the nights that had me running around from one place to another like crazy
And I was hoping to catch the ghost in the act and turns out it was just a ordinary guy stalking the lady or something like that, but no.
We never see the damn ghost. but we end up solving the lady's problem after a few tries.
Sounds annoying, but we get many chances to just drop down the quest. also it got a good laught out of me when Henry pretends to speak latin.
But there is also a big incentive to play however you want to. As long you're not afraid of the consequences
One of my favorites quest have us entering on a monastery as a novice to find someone who is hiding between the other novices
And the asnwer isn't very clear. We must investigate by asking the people around to get clues of which one of them might be the person we are looking for
At the same time we must avoid revealing our true identity by acting accordingly so we don't raise suspicion on us
So they won't expell us, We must follow the schedule and do the different works the monks give us.
Also we enter the monatery we must leave behind everything on our inventory, so we are practically naked once inside
I love this quest due to how it turns the game upside down and make us use our ingenuity and pay attention to solve it
But here is the beauty of this. if you don't want to do this, you can sneak into the monastery (preferably at night) and kill all the novices
That would be a way to finish the quest by brute force.
So if you always wanted to be a mix between Robin Hood and Rambo, this is your chance.
Another feature I like is the alchemy. It isn't just about taking ingredient A and ingredient B and smash them together to create object C
Instead we must take in account the liquid we use, the amount of ingredient, the order, if we must put them directly or if we must grind them first.
But I have a few issues with this. to begin with, the animations can be a bit slow for some people. even to me after watching more than 10 times ina row.
And Henry seems to be pretty nervious all the time as if he could blow up at any moment...which would make sense if this happens on the first levels but it doesn't
I would had liked that after developing a few Alchemy levels the animations were sped up a little to shorten the process and shown Henry's progress.
There is a perk to autobrew potions as long we have the ingredients but we unlock at the LEVEL 10 of alchemy.
But the good news is that this feature isn't need to progress in the story and most of the secondary quest.
oh, great, now Todd is trying to turn this game into Fallout, I guess SKyrim would had been too obvious
Getting ingredients it pretty satisfying too. we start getting flowers from one at the time but
as we develope our herbalism skill we will pick many at the same time. So it becomes more efficient that what it seems at the beginnning.
We don't need to be a master of every skill to progress. if don't know alchemy we can still buy the potions we need
We can try to use our speech to solve a conflic without figthing and if we are good at figthing we can use
Intimidation to presuade people of not getting on our way. Now a skill I recomend to have is Reading
by default Henry can't read. we can look at books but their letters will be scrambled at the point of being nonsense
But something I liked is how the learning progress was shown. After Henry learns the basics, as we level up the
reading skill, the books will start to become more and more understandable to the point of making sense of what they say even if they are still a bit scrambled
and even though the concept of an adult learning to read could be seen as something weird, under this context
I couldn't avoid to find it pretty adorable. and it made me think over stuff we give to granted nowadays. that not even the Kings had access to back then
Drinkable water and cooked food inside of our homes, better and more durable clothing.
Sewers to take our waste away from our homes and not in the middle of the streets
And be able to live without fear of dying from just a cold and most importantly; be able to write and read
Something that not even the most rich and powerful had access to-
I yet there is people that write like THIS....I hate humanity.
When creating an open world game, it's important to strike a good balance between it's size and content so it will feel alive.
even though the size of the map of KCD isn't one of the biggest maps compared to some other games. I do feel it has the size it needs to.
due to being based on a real life landscape we won't see enviroments that vary too much between each other.
as snowy mountains or deserts. But the enviroments the game has are very well created and filled with a good atmosphere
Very few games made me feel like this one when in the middle of the woods at night on my horse and a tourch
OR the relaxation I feel while going around that same woods on the day looking for game to hunt
and there is always some chances of finding some enemies on the way or some random character who offers something.
Just like as many open world games. we have some fast travel options available
The fastest one allows us to go to certain points of different places we had already explored.
and what I love of the system this game implemented is that instead of directly teleporting us there
we se our charatcer traveling to that point as the time goes by, we might still find some dangers that could interrumpt our travel.
The other way to fast travel is the horse. even though it took me a while to get used to the controls. it handles for the most part pretty great
although it can't do mountain climbing as the Skyrim's horses...
It's possible to fight on horseback but I don't recommend it. I feel this is a feature they didn't develope well enough
atleast compared to the combat on foot. As on my experience we never face a foe on horseback.
we can also whistle to call our horse. it doesn't matter if we left it on other town it will teleport right besides us
And here is something that made the PCs of many cry. The graphics of the game are beautiful...if your PC can handle them
Let's make something clear from the start. if you don't have a PC more than just decent don't even touch this game
Get it for PS4 or Xbox One and keep it far away from your PC
I would have an easier time telling you the things I didn't like. The main characters are unique enough
but many of the secondary NPCs look too similar to each other way too many times
I only remember the lady of the ghost because she must be the only older lady with some fat I saw in the game
And the graphic Bugs and glitches . there are many, MANY glitches on the graphics
Underwear clipping out of the clothes, textures that take too long to load and I don't know if it's because of my graphics settings but
But everytime it rains there never seems to be enough clouds on the sky, OR NPCs that decide to T-pose to assert dominance
But for every issue I have with the game, there are atleast 10 other things I love.
Ihad already told you about the immersion on the woods, which are filled with animal very well made
except for their strange behavior when you're trying to hunt them. I don't think it's normal that a hare stays on the same spot after 20 arrows fell besides it.
the fields are beautiful, the tows are alive with every folk going around following their schedule
And the combat animations are so fluid that some fights end un being visual poetry
And of course the work done in the Cutscenes is amazing, with a great performance from the actors.
And I love how they aren't rushed just to get the player back in action as soon as possible and instead they last as long they need to
also there is a healthy amount of cutscenes both for the main and secondary quest. and for those that doesn't give a damn about the story, they can be skipped
all this with a good soundtrack. but I'll leave it to just that, "good" , because I feel the tracks become a bit repetitive after a while
but not to the point of becoming annoying, also there was no tune stuck on my head after I was done
but it works for the game which is more of what I can say about the soundtrack of some other games
I really wish there was some tune I looked up to hear it again after finishing the game but it wasn't the case
At this moment the game released 2 big DLCs. Plus some free content that came in patches.
as some small customization options for Henry's hair style and be able able to take part on a small tournament and a few more things.
And I'm glad they released some free stuff. because in my own opition the pay DLCs they released so far aren't worth it on full price
The first one, "From the Ashes" put us in charge of rebuilding a village on ruins
And when I first hear of this DLC my first reaction was of TAKE IT, TAKE IT ALL, TAKE EVERYTHING I HAVE I'LL PAY WITH MY BLOOD IF I HAVE TO!...
But sadly this DLC wasn't that worth it.
Instead of being a Medieval town building and management sim. It's more of a side activity to throw in all the money we could had hoarded along the game
And it all depends on having enough money to build and upgrade the needed buildings until the town can self sustain itself
There are almost no quest relating to the rebuilding of the town. DO we have to defend it from bandits at some point? NOPE
Do we have to hunt down some animals to feed the people? NOPE. Do we need to get resources to build stuff? YES...kinda
but all we need is money to get them. we don't need to manage the amounts we get nor it's consuming.
This DLC was a good idea on my opinion but HALF developed. I wish there were some quest related to the inhabitants as we develope the town
All we get is to be judge of some discussions between some of the people, some of this might have some
consequences but for the msot part they are jsut a little extra for an overall lacking package
I feel they should had left this DLC to the end and focus first on the story based DLCs.
Atleast I hope that after they release the full support for mods people will be able to get more juice out of this
And the second DLC they release was (with an accent) "The amourous adventures of the bold Hans Capon"
And I liked this DLC better than the other and it makes sense sinse this one is focused on Hans Capon
Sadly this isn't about seducing Hans, instead is about helping him to seduce Carrrolina...
Don't worry, that's the last time I'll speak like that on whats left of the video
It's a pretty fun DLC. and I mean the kind of fun that causes laughs. but it's s bit short compared to it's price
If you're interested on any this DLCs I'll recommend you te get it on a good sale
They aren't bad content, but they are a bit lacking with the price they came with.
I do hope that the future DLCs come with more and better quality content and a razonable price.
Despite all it's issues I really enjoyed KCD but I do hope the devs cna make amend with the people from the kickstarter
that donated money for features that weren't part of the final product. I hope next time they give more focus on the performance and do the great battle
and sieges when they release the sequel. the which is pretty confirmed at this point
and include Crossbows, a Medieval combat game a there no crossbows?!, Shame, SHAAAME!
Let's see..."word, word, underscore, word, underscore, parenthesis aaaand ENTER.
It's has been a while, When will I return to the Pre-
-sent....oh, how about that?
you know, this little journey mede realise something. besides that Time may be dangeruous.
putting time on a solution for the lack of time might be counter productive.
That's exactly what I said at the beginning!
yeah, but now I know it due to experience, not because you were right.
Anyway. now that my time machine is ready I hope I can give more time to work on my videos. I'm Alexandryuz, subcribe, like, comment and see you next video, BYE!.
