HOT | Woman pays for hotel rooms for homeless people during polar vortex Daily Mail Online
A good Samaritan triggered an effort that eventually sheltered more than 100 homeless people from the deadly deep freeze in Chicago last week after she impulsively paid for 20 hotel rooms on her credit card.
Candice Payne booked the 20 hotel rooms after visiting a homeless camp in Chicago last Tuesday as temperatures sank to minus 23F.
Payne feared that the city and charities wouldnt have enough resources to help as authorities were desperately urging the homeless to seek warmth in shelters before temperatures plunged to historic lows.

Two men who stayed at the hotel, Jermaine and Robert, called Payne their angel.
We dont get that type of help. I really needed them at that point, so they came right in time, Jermaine said.
Robert added: We hear about that on the news and other places but I seen it up close and personal today, and I really want to thank yall for looking out for our people.

World News - Gypsy travellers leave hotel with cigarettes, red bull and SPAGHETTI - Duration: 4:16.
Unruly British tourists who have captivated New Zealand with their uncouth behaviour left a hotel room in disarray on Saturday morning, with towels, red bull cans and spaghetti strewn around the accommodation
The cleaner at the motel said it took her 'hours' to clean the room, which was allegedly left stinking of 'kid's poo'
Pictures seen by Daily Mail Australia showed Red Bull cans scattered on the floor, towels bunched up in the shower and under a desk and cigarette butts covering the ground out the front
'It was really messy, and it smelt like kids poo,' the cleaner said.'I had to open all the windows, and I told to my boss to leave them open as well as the door, so it could air out
'She claimed most of the damage was done to the floor, with spaghetti found around the bed, and in the second room the group had booked
'I had to scrub it with a brush,' the woman said. 'I was supposed to finish at 12pm but I finished at 3pm because of the brushing
'I think they were dirty people, we had to wash everything.' Share this article Share One room was missing teaspoons, forks, a bowl and a wine glass, though the owner was hesitant to claim they were stolen, only noting they were no longer in the room
Pictures showed cans and bottles of toiletry items were left dumped on the shower floor, perhaps an indication of a hasty exit
The cleaner said she thinks the family, who are believed to be travellers from England, were fighting on the morning, as she heard shouting from one room to another
Despite multiple requests to pack up and check out when their booking ended, the family were defiant and stayed out the front of their unkempt rooms, smoking
When they did eventually leave, in a car they had hidden behind a church nearby, staff at the motel claim they threw a can out the window on their way out
The hotel confirmed that the family did pay for their room, which was booked under the name 'Eileen', but had told the business there would be four adults and two children staying
When the family spoke with Daily Mail Australia on Saturday, there were at least seven people present over the age of 15 and two young children
Staff said their behaviour was nothing short of disrespectful – especially after they had complained about their treatment in New Zealand
'If you want people to respect you, you must respect the people, and the county, and the environment,' one person said
A staff member at Travelodge told Daily Mail Australia on the weekend an email had been sent to them, and she believed other hotels in the Wellington CBD area, asking them to 'be aware' that the family had arrived
The group, believed to be from Liverpool in the UK, have also allegedly scammed restaurants to avoid paying, left rubbish on beaches, sworn at locals and destroyed the apartment they were staying in during their visit

What It's Like To Sleep In A Boeing 747 Hotel Room - Duration: 5:17.
- [Ju] This is Jumbo Stay.
It's a converted Boeing 747-212B,
grounded at Arlanda Airport in Stockholm.
We're staying the night here
to see whether a decommissioned plane
could possibly make a good hotel.
On first glance, it looks like it's gonna
be extremely cold and not that comfortable,
especially in the cockpit or the engine rooms,
but let's see what it's like to sleep in.
The airplane is parked near to the runway,
where you can see planes taxiing.
The plane took two years to renovate.
Some of the original seats, wiring,
bar and controls remain.
You can also walk along the wings of the plane
or have drinks out there in the summer.
Guests can choose from 33 rooms.
We stayed in one of the single rooms
and the private cockpit suite upstairs.
The cockpit suite has some
of the original controls from the 747.
The controls, rudder pedal,
thrust levers and fuel switches.
The CRT displays have been replaced,
but you can have a go at moving everything else.
So, do you actually get a good night's sleep?
Booking the cockpit suite gives you private access
to the VIP lounge.
The hotel's staff serve as cabin crew,
decked out in the stewards' clothing
and they've had some unusual guests over the years.
