News on Youtube Jan 30 2019

It can't be worn and it can't be sanders.

It has to be someone centrist and someone who can win.

That is what an unnamed CEO from a giant bank here in the United States.

The bank was also a name that is what they had to say recently.

Can't be worn and it can't be.

Bernie got to be a centrist.

Here's what's happening on Wall Street and in business rooms all across this country

right now.

The wealthy elite are freaking out.

They're freaking out because as of right now, they have nobody to turn to.

They have nobody to coddle them.

Nobody to give them everything they have ever wanted, which pretty much they already have

because here's the problem and this is what they're ready to admit.

They like Donald Trump, they liked the tax cuts they've got.

They love the deregulation so they can just get away with whatever, but he's completely

unpredictable and his temper tantrums have caused the market to go down and back up and

then way down and then slightly back up.

His government shut down, just cost the economy.

$11,000,000,000.

They're tired of it.

In spite of the tax cuts, they're sometimes losing money over this guy.

Businesses as a result of the trade wars are losing money and they're sick and tired of

it so they don't want Trump anymore, but then on the other side, oh, that's the scary part

for them because if you don't back Trump, who are you going to back?

Well, it can't be worn and it can't be Bernie because those guys, Elizabeth Warren, Bernie

Sanders and a whole crop, other Democratic candidates, they actually want to increase

regulation because they understand that that's how we protect American consumers.

They want to raise taxes on people making more than $10,000,000 a year or $500, million

dollars a year or more than a billion dollars a year.

Elizabeth Warren has done a phenomenal job of actually releasing her plan on how she

would do that.

Representative of Kazuyo Cortez is out here talking about a 70 percent marginal tax rate.

That's freaking the hell out of wall streeters.

They have nowhere to go.

They don't know who to back.

In fact, according to a recent article in politico, they're actually praying that Mike

Bloomberg, a centrist who's going to push for deregulation tax cuts, you know, no real

changes for the business world, no oversight.

They want him to run because he's also not volatile enough like Donald Trump to just

tank the stock market with a single tweet.

Will Bloomberg's not going to do that?

Maybe they'll back this schultes guy, the founder of starbucks, but who knows, but right

now wall streeters are terrified because they've got nobody to protect him at the moment.

But here's the thing, they're kind of feeling the squeeze right now and that's good because

that's the same squeeze that they have put on the American public for decades.

You know, when they had those accidental foreclosures that they ended up blaming on a computer glitch,

but people still lost their homes and they didn't give a damn.

You know, when they took our investments are are our pensions mom and pop investments savings.

They've been saving up their entire lives and decided to gamble it them all away.

That led to the meltdown in 2007, 2008.

Those people never made whole again.

Never got their money back, will now be working until they die with those ceos are doing great.

They are making more money than ever and they don't want that to change.

They don't want to be held accountable, but they have squeezed the life out of too many

people in this country.

So if they're running around terrified because either Trump's going to tank, the market or

Democrats are going to tax them more than I say, hell yeah, and to be perfectly honest

with you, this quote that I started with, it can't be worn and it can't be Bernie.

To me that says that it has to be worn or it has to be Bernie, one of those two because

according to the bankers themselves, those are the only two candidates right now that

are actually going to hold them accountable for their constant and rampant and disgusting

corruption.

These military families say public schools aren't supporting their special-needs kids - Duration: 7:20.

JUDY WOODRUFF: Navigating a school system can be challenging for any parent with a child

who has special needs, but, for military families, that stress is compounded by their lifestyle

of repeated moves and attending different schools that offer varying levels of services.

In her second report focusing on military kids, special correspondent Kavitha Cardoza,

with our partner Education Week, reports from Virginia Beach, Virginia, where a third of

children in need of special education services can fall through the cracks.

It's part of our education series, Making the Grade.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN, U.S. Navy: Have a good day.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: After years of military moves, Navy Captain Cassidy Norman was posted to

Virginia Beach.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: Bye-bye.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: The Normans had lived here before, and their daughter loved her former

school; 14-year-old Marisa has several disabilities, including cerebral palsy, severe anxiety,

poor eyesight and hearing.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: So, her disabilities are all compounded in the classroom.

It's difficult for her to listen and learn and write all at the same time.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Marisa needs one-on-one help and therapies, but she has normal intelligence,

which means, with patience and educational accommodations, she can learn just like any

of her classmates.

Virginia Beach is surrounded by bases and the economy is closely tied to the military.

Its schools have several programs to support military kids.

But several service members say the district is not meeting the needs of their children

with disabilities.

Eileen Huck with the National Military Family Association says obtaining special education

services is a significant challenge for service members nationwide.

EILEEN HUCK, National Military Family Association: So often, I hear from families who had things

set at their previous location, and then they had to move, and then they feel as though

they're starting from scratch.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: The military does consider a child's medical and educational needs during

assignments.

EILEEN HUCK: But there is less attention paid to the special education services, because

federal law says that all school districts are required to provide a free and appropriate

public education.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: All children with special needs in every public school district are

entitled to an evaluation and individualized plan, detailing the supports they will receive.

But when Marisa returned to the Virginia Beach district, her parents noticed right away something

was wrong.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: We weren't getting progress reports.

They kept taking away services and goals from her and from her education plan.

MICHELLE NORMAN, Military Mother and Spouse: It was very frustrating.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: And, at the same time, they would give her honor roll and student of the

month every once in a while, but all of this time, she was stagnating, and in some areas

regressing.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Cassidy was away on training, and was then deployed to the Middle East.

Still, he would call into meetings about Marisa, which he said school officials often postponed

or canceled.

More than a year passed, and nothing significant changed.

The Normans moved Marisa to a private school.

They also hired a lawyer.

MICHELLE NORMAN: And I was so depressed.

I wasn't myself.

I was crying all the time.

I had to go see a therapist.

And Cass was so worried about me, he had to send the base chaplain to come -- come speak

to me.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: During this case, I was responsible for the health and welfare for 3,000 sailors,

plus 2,000 additional deployers on our ship.

And even though that was stressful, it was more stressful for me to think about my daughter,

who wasn't being taken care of by the public school here.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Aaron Spence is superintendent of Virginia Beach City Public Schools.

AARON SPENCE, Superintendent, Virginia Beach City Public School District: Well, I want

to be clear we actually do a great job with our special education program in Virginia

Beach.

And, on rare occasion, we have some disagreements and differences with our families.

Fortunately, we have a great system for working through that.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Some military families here disagree.

Bryn Bennett, Adriana Rodriguez and Sydney Jillson all have children with special needs.

BRYN BENNETT, Military Mother and Spouse: A few weeks after my husband left for deployment,

my son was having some sort of breakdown in the classroom.

They couldn't get him to calm down.

And I got there, and they had the chairs kind of lined up.

It was almost like he was a caged animal.

SYDNEY JILLSON, Military Mother and Spouse: To watch the people that I know are supposed

to be on his side, the ones that are supposed to be helping him, and to see them pushing

his buttons and upsetting him to such lengths was upsetting.

ADRIANA RODRIGUEZ, Military Mother and Spouse: They didn't listen to a word we had to say.

They didn't listen to a word his doctors had to say.

They didn't offer any supports.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: The district wouldn't comment on any of the cases, saying it would be "inappropriate

because we remain in litigation and due process with many of these families."

But in a written statement, a spokesperson said: "The school district is committed to

providing the best learning environment possible for all children.

We have nationally recognized partnerships with our local installations and are acknowledged

as a premier provider of services in the military community."

But in one complaint, which included military families, investigators found Virginia Beach

schools were offering only the bare minimum in services, which translated into a deficient

education.

Advocate Eileen Huck says there are school districts that just wait it out.

EILEEN HUCK: It's unfortunate, but I think it's sometimes true, that school districts

will be hesitant to provide a new service or a new resource to a family that they know

is going to be moving out of the district in a year or two.

MAN: We're not activists.

We're not looking for a fight.

We're looking for a good community.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: It is rare for a family to file a formal complaint, and even more rare

for them to win.

But a Virginia Department of Education investigation found the school district had not provided

the minimum education required by law for Marisa.

The school district appealed.

The Normans won again in federal court, and Virginia Beach was ordered to pay for her

private school.

Marisa had to repeat a grade in her new school, but now she's doing well.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: She plays on the volleyball team.

MICHELLE NORMAN: She's making friends.

She's learning.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Providing special education services can be expensive for school districts,

but, as the Normans say, it's federal law.

They say Virginia Beach schools have already spent more than $300,000 just on their case.

The Normans say they hear from many other military families.

CAPT.

CASSIDY NORMAN: And very few, if any, are able to afford a lawyer.

It's been depressing to see all the families that cannot fight the fight that we are fighting,

and all the families that have given up or that are afraid of retribution and will not

speak out.

KAVITHA CARDOZA: Virginia Beach School District recently stopped paying for Marisa's private

school, and is appealing the verdict, which means another long court case that Michelle

will have to deal with on her own, because Cassidy Norman has just received transfer

orders for a 15-month posting on a ship based in Italy.

For the "PBS NewsHour" and Education Week, I'm Kavitha Cardoza in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Private and Public sectors join to open the Blockchain Center Shanghai - Duration: 2:05.

With purple and aqua neon lights the new Blockchain Center in Shanghai looks more

like a trendy bar than a hub for Chinese spin Tech. But Blockchain Global

founder Sam Lee is hoping this tech space will support to local blockchain

startups in China and facilitate trade in Australia.

So Sam, we're here at the opening of the Blockchain Centere Shanghai, its a momentous occasion.

How do you feel?

This is a big milestone for the true democratisation of trust,

and with the Blockchain Center we'll bring the public-private sector together to create dialogue

that will move this industry forward.

Like many regulators around the world, China's government is exploring

the payment applications of blockchain technologies while the Chinese

government has cracked down on ICOs this doesn't mean it wants to stifle

investment in the technology all together

We see that China being a strategic play for the technology as to where to next

We see blockchain as a technology that is relevant to everyone in the world and therefore there should

be a Blockchain Center in every major city

and as you can see the ambassador of Indonesia attended along with the

consulates from five different other embassies as well and the Indonesian

ambassador has announced that we will be creating

a blockchain center in Jakarta and a blockchain conference in Bali

Chinese authorities see value in the ability to gain more detailed oversight

and monitoring around transactions, the country also sees the technology as a

way of ending the global dominance of the US dollar.

It will allow for the growth of trust and transparency that we hope to not only consume China but spread

to the rest of the world.

At the end of the day, China might not be Bitcoins biggest fan, but it certainly loves Blockchain.

It's your problem?

Yes

We decided to create two situations in which a guy will stick to the girl and insult her

Our goal - to check how many people pay attention to the girl and how to protect her in every situation

In the first Muslim Maren appearance will humiliate Russian Woman

Get out of here

come here What do you look like a whore I do not want to like you walked through the city

come here which means you do not touch

do not have to stand here and behave like a whore

What have I done , I just stood there

I'll hit a couple of times now and everything

In the second situation, the Russian guy will stick to the Muslim girl looks

Guy: What are you dressed up You look like a terrorist You're scaring people Girl: I did not do anything

Guy: All you bypass the party Girl: I did not do anything bad to you

Girl: I did not do anything , I'm just standing here Guy: What do you stand ? In Hijab ?

Woman : Do not touch me - What happened to you ? Guy: I just have a quarrel with her

Guy: What's she so dressed up ? - Does it bother you how she was dressed ? Guy: What?

- What are you stuck to it ? Guy: I do not like - You looked in the mirror ?

Guy: You're scaring people - What do you care what she wore hijab

Guy: And you what's the difference ? I'm talking to her

- And I do not want you talking to her

Guy: How Come? as it hurts you ?

- And you like it hurts ? She is someone touches ? Guy: No

- Who is afraid of ? Guy: I was , it scares me

- Well, then do not look at it Guy: But it scares me . Her hijab - You're scaring me too

- You're scaring me too I now shoot you ?

- Get out of here

Guy: What is it? - What happened?

- I 'll hit you now

Guy: For what? - I 'll hit you now Go the fuck out of here

Guy: I mean ? - I told you I'm going to hit you now Guy: Are you ready to defend it ?

- Do you know her? Guy : No - Well, then you're stuck to it

Guy: Do you know her? - I know her , She is my sister

Guy: Around you no one is looking

Guy: Dude what ? What is your business? - This is my sister

Guy: You are affected? - Of Course Guy : how you are affected? - And this is

Guy: Calm down enough

Guy: What are you dressed ? - What's wrong? What are you stuck

- What are you stuck to it ? What you do not like the way she was dressed ? Guy: Guys know what's going on ?

Guy: We're shooting video. This is a social experiment

Guy: Thank you stood up ! Woman : It's fine thank you!

In the second case, all who drew attention to the situation immediately interceded for the girl

With regard to the first situation, for a day of shooting for the girl no one interceded Where did your courage?

Pelicans star Anthony Davis fined $50K for making public trade request - Duration: 2:02.

Anthony Davis has been fined by the NBA.  The league announced Tuesday it was fining the Pelicans star $50,000 for the public trade request made by his agent, Rich Paul

The NBA "commenced an investigation" into the demand earlier this week.  "Anthony wants to be traded to a team that allows him a chance to win consistently and compete for a championship," Paul told ESPN on Monday

"Anthony wanted to be honest and clear with his intentions and that's the reason for informing them of this decision now

That's in the best interests of both Anthony's and the organization's future."  Davis, 25, a five-time All-Star, is having a career-year for New Orleans

He's averaging 29.3 points, 13.3 rebounds and 4.4 assists per game. Read This http://images

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: I'M NOT A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE ON MUCH I CAN MAKE A MOTION I

THINK REPRESENTATIVE TRAN 11 MAKE

A MOTION >> CHAIR MARIANI: YOU

ARE RIGHT. >> REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: I WISH I WAS A MEMBER OF THE COMMITTEE >> CHAIR MARIANI: I

THINK REPRESENTATIVE URDAHL MIGHT HAVE

EMOTIONS BELONG YES OR COULD I MOVE HOUSE FILE 15 BE REFERRED TO WAYS AND MEANS WITH A RECOMMENDATION TO REFERRAL TO

JUDICIARY DIVISION AND I WOULD NOTE OUR ON REMEMBER STEVENS

IS ABOUT OREOS

BEFORE US >>

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: MR. CHAIR MY FIRST APPEARANCE BEFORE YOUR

COMMITTEE AND HONORING THE TRADITIONS OF THE GREAT BUT I DO BRING

AREAS TO I WOULD NOTE TO PRESENT ANOTHER BILL THIS AFTERNOON TO THE COMMERCE COMMITTEE OR SOME SO I'VE ASKED ALL

THE FOLLOWING REPUBLICAN COLLEAGUES WOULD BE CONSERVATIVE IN YOUR TAKING OF

THE OREOS.

>> CHAIR

MARIANI: REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON

WERE GLAD THIS COMMITTEE GETS

FIRST DIBS. PLEASE PROCEED >> REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON:

MR. CHAIR MEMBERS THE COMMITTEE ALSO WANT TO THANK THE CHAIR FOR HAVING

ADVOCATES PRESENT IN THE COMMITTEE HEARING ROOM TODAY BUT I THINK IT'S VERY IMPORTANT THAT THIS IS A VERY DIFFICULT CONVERSATION AND ALSO

JUST WANT PEOPLE IN A GALLERY PEOPLE WHO ARE WATCHING

AWARE THAT

THE COMMENTS I WILL MAKE IN

THE COMMENTS OF TESTIFIERS WILL MAKE ON THIS BILL WILL

BE DIRECT AND IT MAY BE DIFFICULT FOR SOME PEOPLE TO HEAR AND

I PARTICULARLY TO KNOW THERE

ARE SOME YOUNGER PEOPLE IN THE AUDIENCE HERE. I JUST WANT EVERYONE TO BE AWARE THAT WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A REALLY DIRECT

CONVERSATION HERE. SO HAVING SAID THAT; I

WILL PROCEED. MR. CHAIR; MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE; UNDER EXISTING MINNESOTA LAW IF

A MAN [INAUDIBLE] HIS WIFE

AND RAPES HER WHILE SHE IS UNCONSCIOUS; HE CANNOT BE PROSECUTED FOR RAPE IN MINNESOTA. WE LIKE TO

THINK OF MARITAL RAPE

EXCEPTIONS AS AN ARTIFACT

OF HISTORY; AS A RELIC OF A TIME WHEN A WOMAN WAS CONSIDERED THE PROPERTY OF

HER HUSBAND. BUT WE STILL HAVE A LIMITED

MARITAL RAPE EXCEPTION ON THE BOOKS IN

MINNESOTA TODAY.

THE BILL THAT IS BEFORE YOU TODAY; HOUSE FILE 15; WOULD REPEAL

THAT LIMITED MARITAL RAPE EXCEPTION IN

ITS ENTIRETY.

THIS BILL PASSED IN THIS COMMITTEE LAST YEAR. IT

HAS PASSED THE SENATE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE EARLIER

THIS SESSION IN A

SEPARATE BILL. I ALSO WANT TO NOTE THE BILL

IS SUPPORTED

BY BOTH THE COUNTY ATTORNEYS ASSOCIATION AND

ALSO BY MN CASA WHO YOU WILL BE

HEARING FROM SHORTLY. I WANT TO

POINT OUT THAT THIS IS NOT AN ACADEMIC DISCUSSION ABOUT

A PIECE OF LAW THAT'S ON OUR BOOKS THAT IS A LITTLE AFFECTED.

THIS HAPPENS. THIS LAW HAS AN EFFECT ON OUR CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

TODAY AND

YOU DON'T HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT. IF YOU LOOK IN YOUR PACKETS FOR TODAY; YOU WILL FIND A FISCAL NOTE THAT WAS PREPARED WITH THIS BILL WAS CONSIDERED LAST SESSION AND IF YOU READ THE ANALYSIS FROM THE FISCAL NOTE YOU'LL SEE THE SENTENCING GUIDELINE COMMISSION

ESTIMATED THAT APPEAL OF THIS PROVISION PARTICULARLY AS RELATES TO THE

MENTALLY IMPAIRED MENTALLY INCAPACITATED AND PHYSICALLY

HOPELESS PROVISION IN THE VOLUNTARY

RELATIONSHIP DEFENSE WOULD

RESULT IN

SEVEN ADDITIONAL CONVICTIONS EACH YEAR. SO

THIS EXISTING LANGUAGE IS

PREVENTING JUSTICE FOR AT LEAST SEVEN PEOPLE

A YEAR. I ALSO WANT TO NOTE A RECENT MINNESOTA COURT OF APPEALS DECISION WHI

CH WAS [INAUDIBLE] WHICH CAME OUT ON DECEMBER 31 OF 2018. IN

THAT CASE; A MAN HAD SEX ON

MULTIPLE DATES THE

WOMAN WHO I'M GOING TO QUOTE FROM

THE DECISION ACCORDING TO THE PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSESSMENT FUNCTIONS OF THE MENTAL CAPACITY OF A

7-8-YEAR-OLD CHILD. HE WAS CHARGED BY THE BROWN

COUNTY ATTORNEY BUT JUST SIX WEEKS BEFORE TRIAL THE MAN MARRIED

THE VICTIM.

HE MOVED TO HAVE THE TRIAL COURT DISMISSED THE

CASE CITING FOR THE VOLUNTARY

RELATIONSHIP DEFENSE STATUTE AND WAS SUCCESSFUL. THE TRIAL COURT DISMISSED THE CASE.

FORTUNATELY; THE COURT OF APPEALS REVERSED THAT DECISION.

CITING; IN PART; THE

POSSIBILITY THAT

INTERPRETING THE VOLUNTARY

RELATIONSHIP DEFENSE

IS APPLYING TO A MARRIAGE IS A CRANE AFTER

THE FACT WOULD; QUOTE; PERMIT OR EVEN ENCOURAGE AN ACTOR TO MARY IN ORDER TO AVOID

CULPABILITY FOR

CRIMINAL CONDUCT WE VICTIMIZING

THE VICTIM. THE COURT OF APPEALS

WAS WISE TO THINK ABOUT THE INCENTIVES

THAT COULD BE CREATED BY A

BROAD INTERPRETATION OF VOLUNTARY RELATIONSHIP DEFENSE AND I WOULD ENCOURAGE THE COMMITTEE TO THINK ABOUT THE

POSSIBILITY CONSEQUENCES

OF EXISTING VOLUNTARY

RELATIONSHIP DEFENSE. AS AN ASIDE;

THAT COURT OF APPEALS DECISION WAS TO-ONE. SO THERE WAS ONE JUDGE; ONE VOTE AWAY FROM THE COURT UPHOLDING

THE DISMISSAL. YOU HAVE TO TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THOUGH OR THE SENTENCING BALANCE COMMISSION WITH THE COURT OF APPEALS TO PLAY WHAT IF

WITH THE COURT OF APPEALS DECISION IN A FEW MINUTES YOU WILL HEAR FROM KENNY KEYS AND LIVE THIS

NIGHTMARE HERSELF.

I CAN RECALL LEARNING IN LAW SCHO

OL ABOUT 17TH-CENTURY ENGLISH

COMMON LAW PRINCIPLE THAT A HUSBAND

COULD NEVER

BE CONVICTED OF RAPING HIS WIFE BECAUSE BY CONSENTING TO MARY; QUOTE;

THE WIFE HAS GIVEN UP HERSELF TO

HER HUSBAND. I'M SURE THAT MANY

OF US

; I HOPE ALL THIS; SITTING HERE TODAY FINALS WERE REPUGNANT AND I THINK

IT'S TIME FOR OUR LAWS TO MATCH

OUR VALUES. SO NOW I WOULD

WITH THE CHAIR'S PERMISSION I'LL TURN

IT OVER

TO LINDSAY [INAUDIBLE] FROM

MN CASA >> CHAIR MARIANI: WELCOME

THIS PRICE

>> TESTIFIER: THANK YOU. MR. CHAIR MEMBERS OF THE COMMITTEE THANK YOU FOR HAVING ME OR TO THE NAME OF LINDSAY BRYCE.

I'M THE POLICY DIRECTOR FOR THE MINNESOTA

COALITION OF [INAUDIBLE] YOU PROBABLY MANY OF YOU PROBABLY MET MY

PREDECESSOR CAROLINE WHO HAS BEEN HERE A FAIR AMOUNT. I'VE

WORKED

WITH -- I AM NEWER TO MN CASA BUT I WORKED WITH AN

D FOR AN NEXT TO VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS OF GENDER VIOLENCE FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND AM ACTUALLY A FORMER PROSECUTOR AS

WELL. MINNESOTA LAW ON SOCIAL

SELF PREVENTS [INAUDIBLE] ON PROGRAMS AND OUR ALLIES

TO PRESENT

[INAUDIBLE] WHILE PROMOTING A CONFERENCE OF

SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL VICTIMS AND SURVIVORS BUT I WOULD LIKE TO THANK THE CHAIR FOR YOUR COMMENTS ABOUT

INCLUSIVITY BECAUSE IT'S ONE OF THE CONVERSATIONS THAT WE ARE HAVING IS THAT IT'S

CRUCIAL THAT OUR LAWS WORK FOR

THE MOST MARGINALIZED IN THE MOST

HEAVILY IMPACTED BECAUSE IF THEY WANT FOR

THOSE FOLKS THAN THE WORKING FOR EVERYBODY.

THAT IS JUST CRUCIAL. I'M GOING TO KEEP MY COMMENTS BRIEF TODAY AS YOU WILL BE HEARING

FROM SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN

PERSONALLY IMPACTED BY

THE STATUTE AND BY THE LANGUAGE

IS BUILT WOULD BE REPEALED. BUT I'M HERE TO SPEAK IN SUPPORT OBVIOUSLY OF THEIR APPEAL AND

TO

THINK THANK BOTH REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON THE CO-AUTHORS AND MR. CHAIR

FOR ADVANCING THIS CONVERSATION.

THE REPEAL OF

THIS BILL -- THIS IS THE SAME LANGUAGE THAT MN CASA SUPPORTED

LAST YEAR. THIS IS PART OF THE LARGE OMNIBUS BILL AND A PRIORITY FOR MN CASA LEGISLATIVE AGENDA

IN 2019. JUST A LITTLE

BIT ABOUT OUR PROCESS. WE HAVE A PUBLIC

POLICY COMMITTEE AND A NUMBER OF SUBCOMMITTEES THAT

REACH OUT TO A NUMBER OF DIFFERENT PARTNERS AS WE WORK THROUGH WHAT WE ARE GOING

TO SUPPORT AND WHAT MAKES THE MOST SENSE OF MOVING FORWARD. IN

THIS CASE;

WITH CONVERSATIONS WITHIN THE

POLICY COMMITTEE AND WE ACTUALLY; ONE OF

THE CONCERNS IS WHETHER OR NOT THERE WAS SOME UNINTENTIONAL

NEGATIVE IMPACT

ON FOLKS WITH DISABILITY. I WAS ONE OF THE CONCERNS THAT WAS RAISED.

SO WE REACH OUT TO THE LEGAL DIRECTOR

TO MINNESOTA DISABILITY

LAW CENTER AND BROUGHT THEM INTO THE CONVERSATION; AND THEY

ALSO SUPPORTED THE REPEAL

OF THIS AND THANK YOU FOR

BEING CONCERNED.. WE DON'T SEE

ANY CLEAR UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES. SO OUR PROCESS IS BOTH MN

CASA AND

[INAUDIBLE] AND PARTNERS AND WE FULLY

SUPPORT THIS. I GIVE YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION IT >> CHAIR MARIANI:

THANK YOU. REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON >> REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: THANK YOU; MR. CHAIR I WANT TO TURN IT OVER TO

JENNY'S PEOPLE [INAUDIBLE] SITTING TO MY RIGHT AND IN DOING SO I WANT TO SAY I THINK ARE ABOUT

TO HEAR THE TERRIBLE ORDEAL SHE'S BEEN THROUGH AND JUST

REALLY REMARKABLE THE STRENGTH

AND TENACITY THAT SHE IS BROUGHT THROUGH THIS

ENTIRE PROCESS TO BE SITTING HERE TODAY ENSURING THE STORY JUST REALLY COMMENDABLE. I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR LEADERSHIP ON THIS FOR COMING OUT AND BEING ON THE SPEAK YOU WANT TO SPEAK ABOUT THE STATE. >> CHAIR MARIANI: WELCOME TO THE COMMITTEE. WE APPRECIATE YOUR PRESENCE WITH US >> TESTIFIER: THANK YOU.

MR. CHAIR; THANK YOU FOR HEARING

HOUSE FILE 15 TODAY IN MY PERSONAL TESTIMONY. SPEEDING

JENNY HAGER

SOON TO BE THISSEN AND I FEEL GRATEFUL TO BE ABLE TO ADDRESS YOU AND THE ENTIRE COMMITTEE TODAY.

LAST YEAR THIS BILL WAS BROUGHT BEFORE

THE COMMITTEE I WAS SITTING IN THE

ROOM LISTENING.. HOWEVER; I WAS UNABLE TO TESTIFY AS

CRIMINAL CHARGES ARE

STILL PENDING AGAINST MY

FORMER SPOUSE REGARDING HIS ACTION.

SINCE THEN; HE HAS

PUBLICLY ADMITTED THAT HE

DRUGGED ME. HE RAPED TO ME AND HE

VIDEOTAPED IT. IN OUR ANDOVER HOME. IN MARCH

IN OUR ANDOVER HOME. IN MARCH 2016 I DISCOVERED A FLASH DRIVE CONTAINING SEVERAL VIDEOS OF MY FORMER

SPOUSE REPORTING HIS COWORKERS IN

THE PRIVATE STAFF BATHROOM AT HIS PLACE

TWO MONTHS AFTER SERVING MY HUSBAND'S

DIVORCE PAPERS PREPARING

MY AFFIDAVIT FOR DIVORCE; I WAS TASKED WITH REVIEWING EVERY PHOTO AND VIDEO

FROM A COPY OF OUR FAMILY

THAT FOREVER CHANGED MY LIFE.

THEY WERE THE USE OF

IN DANGER BUT

POTENTIALLY EXPOSING OUR SON TO

SOMETHING UNTHINKABLE. THE WORST PART OF

THAT DAY WAS MY MOM WAS AT

MY HOUSE WHEN I DISCOVERED THE

RAPE VIDEOS. MY MOM

AND I SAT AND CRIED AS I DISCOVERED I HAVE BEEN DRUGGED AND RAPED BY

MY HUSBAND. NO PARENT

SHOULD EVER HAVE TO EXPERIENCE

[INAUDIBLE] COMPLETE

AND OTHER SHAME; DECEPTION;

CONFUSION; DISBELIEF.

IMMEDIATELY; AFTER DISCOVERING

THESE VIDEOS I CALL THE ANOKA COUNTY

SHERIFF DEPARTMENT WAS THE MAIN POINT

OF CONTACT IN THE

ACT OF A CRIMINAL INVESTIGATION

REGARDING MY FORMER SPOUSE. I

WAS INFORMED THAT SOMEONE WOULD BE FOLLOWING UP WITH ME SOON

TO TAKE MY STATEMENTS. SADLY; THAT WAS NOT THE CASE. IT TOOK OVER

TWO MONTHS OF ME CALLING THE

SHERIFF'S OFFICE

TALKING TO MANY DIFFERENT

PEOPLE BEFORE I WAS FINALLY SCHEDULED TO GIVE

MY STATEMENT. IN SEPTEMBER

IN SEPTEMBER 2017 RECEIVED A CALL FROM A VICTIM WITNESS SPECIALIST THE ANOKA COUNTY

ATTY.'S OFFICE

. SHE CALLED TO INFORM ME THAT MY

FORMER SPOUSE HAVE BEEN FORMALLY CHARGED WITH ONE COUNT FELONY CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT IN THE 3RD°. TO

BE HONEST; I HAVE MIXED EMOTIONS WHEN I HEARD THIS NEWS.

THE STRONGEST EMOTION

I HAD WAS A FEELING OF SENSE OF SAFETY

.. NOT ONLY FOR MYSELF BUT MY

TWO YOUNG CHILDREN IN OU

R COMMUNITY. KNOWING THAT JUSTICE WAS GOING TO BE SERVED. LATER

THAT AFTERNOON; JUST AS I WAS ABLE TO A DOWN TO THE BUS STOP TO GET MY KIDS OFF

THE SCHOOL BUS I RECEIVED ANOTHER CALL FROM THAT SAME WOMAN. TO TELL

THE SHAKINESS IN HER VOICE AND SHE CALLED TO INFORM ME

THAT SHE HAD

SOME NEWS SHE SAID SHE WAS AT A LOSS

FOR WORDS. BUT WHAT SHE TOLD ME IT

WAS LIFE-CHANGING.

SHE EXPLAINED THAT MY

FORMER SPOUSES THE ONLY 3RD° CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT CHARGE

WAS DROPPED BECAUSE HIS CRIMINAL

DEFENSE ATTORNEY MADE THEM AWARE OF THE COUNTY OF A LAW ON THE MINNESOTA BOOKS THAT STATES A PERSON CANNOT

BE CHARGED WITH

THIS CRIME IF THEY WERE MARRIED AT THE TIME OF

THE CRIME. SHE SAID THE

ENTIRE STAFF OF ATTORNEYS IN

THE OFFICE; THE

JUDGE; SHERIFF; NO ONE KNEW THAT THIS LOT

EVEN EXISTED.. WE WERE

ALL SHOCKED AND SHE SAID; THIS NEEDS TO

BE CHANGED. I WAS DEVASTATED

AND SCARED. BY NIGHT

I STRUGGLED WITH THE NEWS I RECEIVED. I WANT SOME HARRY POTTER WITH MY KIDS BY THE NEXT MORNING I WAS READY TO GO TO WORK TO

MAKE SURE THAT NO ONE IN A

SIMILAR SITUATION HEARS; I AM SORRY

; THE CHARGES HAVE

BEEN DROPPED. THE COUNTY WAS ABLE TO CHARGE THIS DEGREE CRIMINAL SEXUAL

CONDUCT AND INVASION OF PRIVACY WHICH IS FINALLY SENTENCED LAST MONTH. MY FORMER SPOUSE

BUT GUILTY

TO ENGAGING INVASION OF PRIVACY AND HOME. WHAT HE DID

TO ME WAS SEXUAL ASSAULT YE

T NOTHING SHOWS ON

HIS RECORD OF THE CRIMES HE COMMITTED

AGAINST ME. HAD HE

BEEN CHARGED WITH A 3RD°; ONE OF THE

REQUIREMENTS WAS REGISTRATION AS A SEX OFFENDER. YET; NOTHING

SHOWS CRIMINAL SEX ON

HIS RECORD. IN AN EXCERPT FROM THE SENTENCING COURT TRANSCRIPT FROM LAST MONTH; ANOKA COUNTY PROSECUTOR ATTORNEY PAUL YOUNG IS QUOTED

AS SAYING; THIS COURT KNOWS THAT THE PSYCHOLOGICAL EVALUATIONS THAT WERE DONE ON MY FORMER SPOUSE AND

THE RECOMMENDATION

SITE FOUND HIM TO BE A MODERATE TO HIGH RISK

TO REOFFEND. WHAT WAS THE

OTHER OFFENDERS THAT IT'S CONCERNING

GIVEN THAT BEFORE EVEN REACHING

THOSE CONCLUSIONS THIS IS A PERSON THAT HAS BEEN SEX

OFFENDER COUNSELING;; THERAPY;

MARRIAGE COUNSELING; AND IS STILL AT A STAGE AFTER ALL THE TIME A HIGH RISK TO

THE COMMUNITY. SINCE FELONY CHARGES WERE DROPPED BECAUSE WE

WERE MARRIED; BUT ONLY MYSELF BUT OUR COMMUNITY

IS BEING PUT AT RISK FROM

SEXUAL PREDATORS LIKE MY

FORMER SPOUSE. IN CLOSING; I WOULD LIKE TO REDO

AN EXCERPT FROM A VICTIM

IMPACT STATEMENT THAT IN COURT

AT SENTENCING FOR THE INVASION OF PRIVACY LAST MONTH.

IN SEPTEMBER 2017 I FOR SPOUSE

WAS CHARGE WITH HER DEGREE CRIMINAL

SEXUAL ASSAULT IN THOSE CHARGES WERE

DROPPED BECAUSE IN THE STATE OF MINNESOTA IF YOU

ARE MARRIED YOU CANNOT BE CHARGED WITH

SEXUAL ASSAULT DEGREES 1-4 EVEN IF YOUR SPOUSE IS INCAPACITATED WITH THE SEXUAL ASSAULT TAKES PLACE.

IN TODAY HE'S ENTERED A PLEA OF 45 DAYS JAIL AND INVASION OF PRIVACY

AT A MINIMUM HE SHOULD HAVE TO REGISTER AS A SEX OFFENDER

MORE JAIL TIME IS

ALSO WARRANTED. THE STAR TRIBUNE RECENTLY RAN A SERIES TITLE;

JUSTICE DENIED

;; THAT EXAMINES HOW MINNESOTA'S CRIMINAL JUSTICE SYSTEM

OFTEN FAILS VICTIMS OF RAPE AND

SEXUAL ASSAULT. WITH A PLEA AGREEMENT THAT WAS REACHED

THIS BECOMES ONE MORE STORY OF

A VICTIM THAT HAS BEEN FAILED. I WOULD RATHER BE IN THE VICTIM HEARD JUSTICE

SERVED CATEGORY THANK

YOU CHAIR. >> CHAIR MARIANI: THANK

YOU MS. THISSEN AND WANT TO STRESS

THE IMPORTANCE TO ASSERT YOUR PERSONAL DIGNITY AND

YOUR HUMANITY AND I WANT YOU TO KNOW I SEE IT AND I ACKNOWLEDGE IT.

I'M SURE WAS NOT EAST TO COME

HERE TODAY. WOULD THERE BE ANY

RETROACTIVE? IS THERE ANY LOANS THAT CAN BE ADDED TO THIS?

HAVE YOU THOUGHT

ABOUT THAT? >> REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON:

THE BILL AS IT STANDS OUT IS NOT RETROACTIVE. IT WOULD APPLY

TO INSTANCES OCCURRING

I BELIEVE AFTER

JULY 1. YES; JULY 1 OF 2019. I'M NOT SURE WE

COULD GO RETROACTIVE ON THIS

PARTICULAR PIECE. >> CHAIR MARIANI:

REPRESENTATIVE --

>> REPRESENTATIVE: I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR POWERFUL TESTIMONY THE PLAYERS ABOUT THEIR BEHALF OF OTHER PEOPLE IN OUR STATE THANK YOU FOR THAT. I WANT TO THANK MS.

[INAUDIBLE] I WAS INVOLVED IN THOSE EARLIER

RELATIONSHIP THAT CONSENT

RELATION TO

INVOLVING THE [INAUDIBLE] AT SOME TROUBLE WITH THAT AT THE TIME AND I'M

SO GLAD WE CAN COLLECTIVELY WORK TO

THAT AND WAS THAT'S NOT A CONCERNING THIS IS REALLY A MATTER OF JUSTICE. SO THANK YOU. THANK YOU

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON. LIFTED UP THE ORIGINAL OFFER OF THIS BILL FROM LAST SESSION ON HOUSE

SPEAKER MELISSA HORTMAN HAS BEEN A CHAMPION THIS OF COURSE

CHAIR JOHNSON CHOSE TO INCLUDE THIS IN THE OMNIBUS LASTED AND SO THIS IS REALLY GROUP EFFORT BUT I APPRECIATE

THANK YOU; MR. CHAIR I JUST WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE HOW DIFFICULT AND CHALLENGING AND BRAVE IT WAS FOR YOU TO BRING TESTIMONY TODAY AND HOPEFULLY THIS

IS ANOTHER IT ALONG THE ROAD OF

HEALING AND YOU ARE A BRAVE WOMAN. SO I WANT TO

THANK YOU AND THANK YOU FOR

BRINGING THIS FOR. THIS IS OVERDUE. I WISH WE COULD'VE ENACTED IT A

YEAR AGO.

IT'S VERY SAD THAT SOMETHING LIKE THIS DIDN'T GET SIGNED INTO LAW WHEN WE HAD IT

GO THROUGH BOTH BODIES

AND SADLY IT WAS VETOED. SO I WANT

TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND THANK YOU

FOR COMING AND SHARING

YOUR STORE. AS DIFFICULT AS IT WAS. >> CHAIR MARIANI:

THANK YOU REPRESENTATIVE O'NEILL COULD AND REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON I SUSPECT

THIS YEAR WILL PURSUE A DIFFERENT STRATEGY IN TERMS OF TRYING TO GET THIS BILL IN FRONT OF THE GOVERNOR'S DESK AND HOPEFULLY WE CAN DO THAT SOON.. REPRESENTATIVE

GROSSELL >>

REPRESENTATIVE GROSSELL: THANK YOU; MR. CHAIR.

REPRESENTATIVE THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THE LEGISLATION

FOUR. AGAIN

IT SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE DONE. SOMETHING THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED AND I JUST WANT TO MAKE

ONE COMMENT ONE THING THAT REALLY CAUGHT

MY EAR;; VICTIMS HEARD;

VICTIMS SERVED THAT IS

SOMETHING THAT SINCE I WALK THROUGH THE FRONT DOOR IN 2016

BEEN WORKING ON LEGISLATION FOR THAT

VERY PURPOSE. SO THAT THESE

EDITORS; THE SEXUAL PREDATORS; AND THEY CALL THEM PREDATORS FOR

A REASON -- BECAUSE THEY

PREY UPON INNOCEN

T PEOPLE; PEOPLE THEY CAN MANIPULATE; PEOPLE THEY CAN HAVE AUTHORITY OVER

SO I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR YOUR STRENGTH TO COME FORWARD

AND TESTIFY TO IT WAS GOOD TO BE VERY

DIFFICULT BUT I'VE LEGISLATION THAT WILL ELIMINATE THESE VERY PEOPLE

WHO GET THESE PLEA DEALS. SO AGAIN; THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS

LEGISLATION FOUR. >> CHAIR MARIANI: THANK YOU REPRESENTATIVE GROSSELL.

REPRESENTATIVE CONSIDINE >> REPRESENTATIVE CONSIDINE: THANK YOU; MR. CHAIR. TO

THE TESTIFIER; YOUR COURAGE IS AMAZING AND I'M REALLY SORRY THAT HAPPENED TO YOU.

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON IF

THE SPOUSE SAY;

HAS ALZHEIMER'S AND IS IN AN INSTITUTION DOES THIS BILL COVER THAT AND WHO

WOULD THEN FRANKLY; SPEAK FOR

THE SPOUSE? >>

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: WITH THIS BILL WOULD DO THAT SITUATION IS MAKE THE MERE FACT OF THE MARRIAGE

BETWEEN THE PERSON AND THE PERSON

WITH ALZHEIMER'S

NOT CONTROLLING. IF THE SEXUAL CONDUCT

BETWEEN SPOUSES IS STILL CONSENSUAL THEN

IT'S NOT ILLEGAL. CONSENT IS STILL A DEFENSE IN THAT

INSTANCE. SO IN THAT COME I BELIEVE IS WHY THE

DISABILITY COMMUNITY DOESN'T HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THIS BILL BECAUSE IT STILL ALLOWS

THE PEOPLE WHO ARE DISABLED OR OTHERWISE

IMPACTED TO ENGAGE IN SEXUAL RELATIONS PROVIDED THERE

IS CONCERN.

>>

REPRESENTATIVE CONSIDINE: THANK YOU; MR. CHAIR. I

AM GUESSING

UNFORTUNATELY I'M THINKING OF A CASE DOWN IN MY AREA ABOUT 15 YEARS AGO WITH

A WOMAN WAS INCAPACITATED AND

HER HUSBAND WOULD COME AND PICK

HER UP AND TAKE HER OUT FOR

A VISIT

. SHE WASN'T CAPABLE OF CONSENT AT THIS POINT IN

HER LIFE.

IN FACT THE TRAGEDY WAS THEY BOTH FROZE

TO DEATH AT THE END OF A LONG

DIRT ROAD. SOMEBODY

THAT'S INCAPACITATED IS NOT ABLE TO GIVE CONSENT IS WHAT

I'M THINKING. >>

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON: MR. CHAIR

REPRESENTATIVE CONSIDINE I THINK

ULTIMATELY CONSENT IS A BIG PART OF THE

TOUCH ON OR

SHOULD BE THE TOUCH ON A MARKABLE SEXUAL

CONDUCT LAWS. I WOULD ALSO

NOTE FOR YOU THAT THERE IS

AN ELEMENT OF PROSECUTORIAL DISCRETION THAT EXISTS IN OUR LAWS BUT IS MEANT TO COVER VERY

EXTREME CIRCUMSTANCES. THAT MIGHT BE APPLICABLE TO A SITUATION LIKE THE ONE THAT YOU ARE DISCUSSING. >> CHAIR MARIANI:

CHAIR CONSIDINE >> REPRESENTATIVE CONSIDINE: THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWER >>

CHAIR MARIANI: CHAIR LESCH I SUSPECT THESE ARE SOME OF

THE ISSUES THAT YOUR COMMITTEE

WILL DIG DEEPER INTO IF THERE'S A

TECHNICAL APPLICATION AND CONSIDERATION IN TERMS OF

PROSECUTING PROCEDURES. SO I LOOK FORWARD TO

THE CONVERSATION. MR

. CHAIR >> REPRESENTATIVE LESCH: THANK YOU FOR THAT. WE WILL LOOK AT IT IN CLOSING THE PROPOSED AMENDMENT THAT CAME UP

A CHAIR CONSIDINE HAS A QUESTION HE SITS ON

THE COMMITTEE IS WHAT I'LL LEAVE IT UP TO REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON AND

YOU MS. THISSEN IF YOU WANT TO INTO ANOTHER COMMITTEE.

I KNOW THAT'S DIFFICULT BUT I WILL TELL YOU YOU DID AND ASCENDING

JOB

TODAY AND I KNOW IT'S DIFFICULT. THOSE OF US AROUND

HERE HAVE QUESTIONS ABOUT

THE EYE IDEAL RE-VICTIMIZING

THE VICTIM..

THAT'S THE WORD YOU WANT TO USE

OR NOT BUT I WILL TELL YOU A LOT OF TIMES

YOU HAVING TO ENDURE

THIS AGAIN MAKE A HUGE DIFFERENCE FOR EVERYONE HERE MAKES FOR MORE

SOLID LEGISLATION COUL

D IT ABSOLUTELY DOES. SO I WANT TO THANK YOU FOR BEING WILLING TO TAKE THIS ON YOUR SHOULDERS FOR EVERYONE

WHO IS IN A POSITION TO SPEAK UP. THANK YOU FOR THAT. SO BETWEEN HERE AND THERE; MR. CHAIR; WE WILL DECIDE HOW REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON

WANT TO DO THIS. OKAY; THANK

YOU GOOD

>> CHAIR MARIANI: THANK YOU CHAIRMAN LESCH. IS THERE ANYONE

THE PUBLIC

OR AUDIENCE THAT WISHES TO TESTIFY FOR OR AGAINST THE BILL? IF NOT; THEN

REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON I THINK WE ARE READY TO ACT ON YOUR BILL DID SO

REPRESENTATIVE LONG RENEWS HIS MOTION THAT

HOUSE FILE 15 B REFER TO THE WAYS AND MEANS COMMITTEE WITH

A RECOMMENDATION THAT IT BE

RE-REFERRED TO THE JUDICIARY COMMITTEE. ALL THOSE IN FAVOR

SAY; AYE.

[CHORUS OF AYES.] OPPOSED;

SAME SIGN. MOTION PREVAILS IN >> [GAVEL] >> CHAIR MARIANI: THANK YOU REPRESENTATIVE STEPHENSON CAN

THANK

YOU MS. THISSEN. THANK YOU MS. BRYC

E WE SEE YOU AND WE HURRY. THANK YOU

Open Talks 2 | Space Junk | Abdullah Saghir Ahmad | Public Relations Cell, NMIMS Bangalore - Duration: 6:01.

Humans have been fascinated by space since antiquity

If you were in Paris, 231 years ago,

you would have seen a guy flying above the tallest of the buildings in a giant balloon shaped object

Well... Yes, that was the first hot-air balloon.

120 years later, Wright Brothers came up with the aero plane.

And in the year 1957, man began his journey to explore a new frontier "Space",

when Soviet Union launched Sputnik-I

US, soon joined the wagon of exploration and launched the first-ever manned mission to moon in 1969

Now, we have come so far that we are discovering and monitoring new planets, but at what cost?

Have you ever thought what happens to the body of the rocket that carries the satellites into space?

What happened to the satellites when they are non-operational, when they are beyond human control ?

What happens to the space crafts that do not make their way back to Earth's orbit?

The answer to all these questions is... they become "Space Junk"

Space Junk, also known as orbital debris, comprises of man-made objects, not under human control, revolving in the orbit of Earth.

According to NASA Orbital Space Debris Program office, four objects primarily constitute as space junk-

1) Derelict (abandoned) spacecraft - When spaceships or parts of spaceships no longer work they're left to float around space indefinitely.

2) Solid rocket motor effluents - Some space shuttles use solid rocket fuel for propulsion.

After the launch, some fuel can be left over and will float around in whatever container it flew up.

3) Tiny flecks of paint - Although it may be hard to believe, there are potentially millions of tiny pieces of paint floating around Earth's orbit.

Heat or impacts with other small particles usually chip off paint specks from spacecraft and turn them into space junk.

4) Upper stages of launch vehicles - The final stages are called upper stages because they're located near the top of the entire shuttle

Fast moving pieces of debris, less than ¼ inches, can pierce a space suit.

According to recent estimates, there are around 300,000 pieces of debris larger than a centimeter in diameter orbiting Earth.

The bigger pieces of debris have the ability to bring down an entire satellite.

In 2013, a Russian weather satellite was knocked down by such debris and it came crashing down on Earth leaving thousands of new particles in the orbit.

Now, a $2700 putty knife is orbiting the Earth waiting for such a satellite.

Space junk is a pressing issue because not only the risk of objects falling from atmosphere is increasing day by day

but also the population of orbital debris is increasing with the effect of a chain reaction.

In order to tackle this issue, many space research organizations such as NASA have designed few measures.

The objects that constitute space junk, as mentioned earlier can be addresses using technologically advanced mechanisms.

Like, upper stages of launch vehicles and solid rocket motor effluents can be shot out of Earth's orbit using LASER based debris remover.

The latest and the most fruitful method is to capture debris using a TAMU sweeper

and employ the capabilities of a sling-sat to project the debris out of Earth's orbit.

We need more such innovations in this field and more than that we need to sensitize countries about orbital debris.

While the creation of orbiting junk continues to rise with each rocket launch, there is no market for tackling the issue directly.

Third world countries, in a race to display their technological advancements, are launching satellites

without realizing the long term effect of such space objects.

We've reached the point of no return.

The debris will continue to get worse in terms of collision threats,

even if not another satellite were launched; the problem will continue to get worse.

This menacing problem and the possible cleanup solutions are international in scope.

International bodies like International Space Exploration Coordination Group and NASA Orbital Space Debris Program office

should run awareness and sensitizing programs about space junk

and innovations should be made for automatic trajectory of satellites from Earth's orbit

when they are nearing the end of their life-span.

Space exploration promised us alien life, lucrative planetary mining, and fabulous lunar colonies.

News flash: Space is nearly empty.

It's a sterile vacuum, filled mostly with the junk we put up there.

Now, it is upon us to collectively innovate ways to clean up the junk.

We - the current generation - have a moral responsibility

to make the world better for future generations.

Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past.

Let us accept our own responsibility for the future

and tackle this problem which is growing as we speak.

3 Biggest Public Speaking Mistakes to Avoid - Duration: 5:59.

I'm not a big believer in following rules in public speaking

You know, we've all heard them do this say that walk this way. Don't go that way

I I just don't think that it critical instead. I want to share with you the three

biggest mistakes that will kill your presentation every time you're on stage on video and

If you get those three mistakes under control, and of course, I've made them just like everybody else did

If you get those three mistakes under control, you will be a much better public speaker

I'm Victoria Lewinsky and I help introverted entrepreneurs overcome the fear of public speaking

And transformed into confident compelling and captivating speakers

mistake number one

Focusing on their own. Thanks. Have you ever entertained this thought about your audience?

What does he think of me?

What if they think I'm a fraud? What if they think I don't know my stuff what if they don't like me?

This thoughts seemed fairly harmless right after all they just in your head. But while you spend in your mental energy

focusing on all of those questions

You are not

Focused on your audience and by being focused on your audience. I don't mean you spend your time thinking from scared

You are off your audience

focusing on your audience means

That the only thing that is in your head all these things that you're thinking about is how you are

making them feel because only when you take the focus off of you and

Your confidence issues and your minds and blocks and everything else that you have in your head?

Only when you take focus off of you and shift it to your audience

Only then

You are becoming a great speaker

I have a whole video on this mindset shift and if you are watching this on youtube

You can just grab it from the link above or I will also put the link in the description

Mistake number two not being your authentic

It is still attempting to mimic somebody you admire, right?

But audience can spot a fake right away

Remember the time you win the audience couldn't even somebody was too rehearsed

To sleep too. Perfect

Don't sacrifice being yourself for perfection perfection is bland and boring

The audience wants to see the real you

they do and

being

Genuine will always outperform

Being perfect

Mistake number three not preparing rehearsing before your presentation as an introvert

preparing and thinking things through

Really come natural to me

if anything I like to prepare a little too much at the expense of

pushing the ideas into the world sooner

now a lot of people

like to weigh in and

Truthfully procuration is boring right at some point you go like. Oh, I'll just I'm done. I'll just go into it

But I really really really want to encourage you to at least do a few key things

You definitely want to have you outline prepared and done. You want to know all the key points. You're going to cover

Particularly, if you're going without the crutch of slides if you are doing a telltale talk you need to have all of those key

points memorized and in your mind

another thing that's very very important and I definitely encourage you to do it is to

specifically

focus on the first few minutes of your presentation

maybe even memorize it because you know when you just walk on stage is the most nervous and that's when

mistakes happen

you want to memorize your opinion so that you can just glide through it and be done with it and

Then you can continue

going with the talking points in your hand, but

focus on

your opening focus on the first few minutes of your presentation and also you want to prepare is a

Closing of your presentation because this is the last thing your audience remembers and everybody has their own favorite

Methods for preparing some people like to sit at their desk

And prepare that way some people like to go and walk and think through their presentation in their head. I

Spend a lot of time in the car drive. And so I love thinking through my presentation in the car. I

Literally visualize everything I don't just visualize how I'm delivering my lines and what I'm saying

I'm also visualizing reaction from the audience and that

really really really helps so don't skip

preparation find a way that works for you bead on the walk in the car in the shower or

Just even while maybe you're watching TV you are

Spending some time

Going through representation in your head there. You have it. Let me go over the three mistakes one more time mistake number one

focusing on the wrong things

Mistake number two not being your authentic self

mistake number three not preparing rehearsing before your presentation and

Now, it's your turn. Let me know in the comments which of these mistakes ran particularly true to you

I cannot wait to hear from you and I will see you soon. In the meantime

make sure to grab my free training on overcoming fear of public speaking and you can get it at

I'll see you soon. Take care
