When your friend asks you to go backpacking in Yosemite you say yes even

if you have no idea what you're doing like me so here's what I learned

first things first go with someone who does know what they're doing

Meet Joe: backpacking expert. he's been backpacking the Sierra Nevada mountains

for almost 20 years and hasn't died yet. I trust him.

Go with someone who has extra gear. Backpacking stuff is expensive. Borrow

what you can and then go to the store and get whatever else you need. Pack

light. Uou carry everything you have on your back for the entire day so decide

what's essential. Rule of thumb you don't need as much as you think. Okay now on to

Yosemite. This is a wilderness permit. if you're staying overnight in the

wilderness you need one of these. Permits are limited and their first-come

first-serve. We made sure we were first. and what time do we get those permits at

11:00 a.m. and right now it's 2 a.m. Lay in the street all night with the

others, get your pass, and you're good to go. Find the trail head and start backpacking

Get ready to see lots of nice scenery in Yosemite.

Yosemite is beautiful but it also has some really difficult terrain. For

example, switchbacks. Wwitchbacks are where you're hiking up the mountain and

the trail switches back and forth. The rocks, elevation, and the heavy bag on

your back make these tough, going up or down. That's where we're trying to get

down to to camp tonight. Let's talk about camp life. Set up camp a hundred feet

away from water and don't put your tents on top of any vegetation. Campfires are

allowed if a fire ring is already there. Camp close enough to a water source so

you can filter for drinking. And bring a bear canister to protect your food from

bears just store it away from camp when you sleep. You'll cook on this and

probably eat something like this. Also here is my tent. If you're not an avid

backpacker, this thing will probably feel like a coffin. Guys, I can't move.

Backpacking is no joke. It's not easy. You walk a ton each and every day, it hurts,

you'll probably lose someone in your group, or get lost together. We can't find

the trail. Just be ready for anything. it's thundering and lightning and we're on

the side of this mountain.

But each day gets easier. You get better at the little things like setting up

your tent. You get more comfortable with the pain and you learn new things every

day that kind of makes you feel accomplished. So take in where you are.

you're in Yosemite. Breathe in the fresh air, appreciate the lack of human

beings around you, go sledding on the snow or jump in the water. It'll be

really cold up there, though. Really cold. And when you finish, celebrate. Multiple

days in the wilderness deserve some good pizza and drinks. It makes it all worth it.

Drive up the tunnel view on your way out and get one last picture before you

leave. And that's how you backpack Yosemite.

Hugh Hefner: effusive tributes ignore Playboy founder's dark side

The man who created Playboy, who has died aged 91, has been remembered as an American icon – but others recall a controlling, emotionally abusive manip

As celebrities shared their memories of Hugh Hefner, who died on Wednesday aged 91, some of the most fervent elegies came from the Playboy "playmates" who lived in his famous – or infamous – mansion

Hef changed my life," said Kendra Wilkinson, a former girlfriend who lived with him in his later years. "He made me the person I am today.

I couldn't be more thankful for our friendship and our time together. I will miss him so much but he will be in my heart forever."

The Hefner in these remembrances – a naughty, avuncular mentor – was strikingly different from the man who exploded on to the publishing scene in 1953
