heat stroke in dogs can be a rapid killer so learning how to cool a dog

down quickly and prevent heatstroke might just save your dog's life join me

in this video where I run through the five key steps to cool a dog down

quickly hi I'm dr. Alex from ourpetshealth.com helping you and your dog to

live a healthier happier life so think about subscribing if that's something

that you're interested in now don't underestimate the importance of cooling

your dog down quickly if you think that they are developing heatstroke in one

study dogs with heatstroke who are cooled by their owners had a 38 percent

chance of dying and that's compared to a 61 percent chance of dying in those dogs

who were not cooled by their owners make no mistake learning how to cool a dog

down quickly can definitely be a lifesaver so make sure that you share

this video with all your dog owning friends and family let's jump into the

five steps and at number one we have to stop any activity move your dog into the

shade or a cooler location and encourage your pet to drink some cool water cool

water is actually better than really cold water and any water is better than

nothing a hot dog quickly becomes a dehydrated

dog and this not only reduces the ability of panting to keep their body

cool it can also be responsible for some of

the complications we see in heatstroke in dogs

dehydration exacerbates organ damage and so makes heatstroke that much more

dangerous carrying water is so important and it is one of my eleven tips to

keeping a dog cool in summer and preventing heatstroke in the first place

so make sure you check out my video that's linked up here and down in the

description below so the second step to cool a dog down quickly is to spray and

soak their coat with tepid or lukewarm water so you might think that using cold

water would be best but this will actually cause your pets body

temperature to become higher and the reason for this is that the cold water

actually causes the outside blood vessels to constrict or become much more

narrow and this effectively has the effect of trapping the heat within the

body's core and that causes a dog's body temperature to climb rather than cool

so using a spray bottle of water bottle hose or even standing your dog in a

stream or a lake will do the job it's hot out then the chances are that all of

these sources won't be too cold as the water in your dog's fur and that price

will have a cooling effect on your dog keeping their coat wet clearly is

therefore important and so be ready to add more water as needed just to keep

them down so my third step in how to cool a dog down quickly is to use a fan

to blow air over your dog this air movement helps to speed up the rate of

evaporation and so helps the dog to cool down that much faster you'll have felt

this yourself getting out of the water on a hot day if there's no wind you'll

feel hot but if there's a breeze you can actually end up feeling quite cold even

when the temperature outside is really high as well as using a fan then you

could move your dog into a spot that's in the wind preferably in the shade too

and when you're driving your dog to the vet you can also just open all the

windows as well as turn on the air conditioning copter for my fourth

cooling step is one to use if your dog has collapsed with heatstroke at home place

an ice pack frozen peas or whatever you have to hand in your dog's groin under

that armpits or on the side of their neck all of these areas are whether

really big blood vessels run which don't constrict to a degree that will trap

heat in the same way that's soaking your dog with cold water will any ice pack

should be wrapped or event cold injury to the skin and their location should be

moved every and a 15-20 minutes or so right my fifth and final step to cool a

dog down quickly is to cover them with a wet towel a towel has the ability to

hold a large amount of water and if a wet towel is placed over a damp dog and

being in a breeze too is even better then it will just help cool your dog

down faster because the towel is not in direct contact with the skin it won't

actually cause narrowing of the blood vessels that the cold water will and as

well as becoming very cold to wick heat away from your dog's body it will also

reduce the need for you to keep adding water to your dog's fur this is clearly

ideal if you're driving to the vet alone with your dog in the back cooling effect

can last much longer without you needing to keep stopping and adding

to that coke so those are the five steps for how to call a dog down quickly move

your dog to a cooler location and encourage your pet to drink cool water

spray and soak their coat with tepid lukewarm water blow air over your dog

ice pack your dog's groin armpits and neck area and place soap towels over

your dog if you've carried out all of these steps then clearly there is one

more vital part to ensuring that your dog survives heat stroke and I've

already alluded to this it is to take your dog to the vet as quickly as

possible so from the same study that I mentioned at the start it was also

reported that if a dog was presented to the vet clinic within 90 minutes of

developing heatstroke then their chance of dying was 27% so about a 1 in 4

chance of dying if though it took longer than 90 minutes then 62% of dogs died

which is more like 2 in 3 and for those dogs that were cooled by their owner and

presented to the vet within 90 minutes well 100% of them survived clearly there

is a risk of death with any dog who develops heatstroke but these figures

they really just highlight how important both cooling a dog down quickly and

rapidly transporting your dog to the vet can be if you know what to do and now

you do then it will only take 5 to 10 minutes to start cooling your dog down

quickly and this is time very well spent if at all possible you should then call

ahead to let your vet know that you're coming and this will give them some time

to get ready to treat your dog as soon as you step foot in the veterinary

clinic again time is of the essence remember though that if you're driving

open the windows and turn on the air conditioning and while time is crucial

Drive Safely having an accident will not help your dog preventing heatstroke is

clearly better than trying to treat it so make sure you check out my 11 tips to

keep your dog cool in summer that's linked in the card on the screen here

like this video if you found it helpful please share it with your friends and

family and until next time i'm dr. alex from our pets health because their

DAY 1 OF MY DRY FAST THIS IS A WEIGH-IN VIDEO SEE HOW MUCH I LOSS-MY WEIGHT LOSS JOURNEY #P2 - Duration: 13:39.

hey guys today is officially 24 hour period that I have done the drive fast

yesterday I didn't want to really give you too many clues of what I was doing

because I was not sure if I was going to do the dry fast it was just something

that I wanted to do with my partners in crime

fasting Deva go check out her channel her link is in my description of all my

videos now and also tea love they're doing a five-day dry fast and out to

spur of the moment when I had heard that I said at 7-7 yesterday morning that I

would do one - I don't know if I'm gonna go five days I'm going to plate per hour

per day and per how my body is feeling but as of today it has been 20 over 24

hours I have not consumed any food or water

I did a weigh-in because yesterday I did Monday's weigh-in I still was at a stall

my weight was at a hundred and eighty-three pounds still from two weeks

ago but I got on the scale this morning and the skill said something different

now I also have two videos going up this video here letting you know that I'm on

day one of my drive fast and I also have a waves video where I'm actually getting

on the scale coz I'm going to start incorporating those kind of videos where

you actually see me get on the scale and do weigh-ins I'm very close to the end

of phase 1 which is losing the weight and doing weighing videos it's going to

be probably only a few more weeks of weigh-in videos then I'll be on phase 2

and I'll just do videos like I normally do talking about you know health

wellness and helping you guys get on the right track by my own opinion on what I

did that work for me sharing that with you but and

along with that I'll be sharing my journey on Phase two how I basically

keep the weight off and maintain my current weight when I lose the whole

entire 88 pounds but when I got on the scale today even though there's another

video with me on the scale and it's gonna tell you how much I lost and I'll

get into the grand total on that video as well so there's basically a bonus

weigh-in there was one yesterday on Mondays weigh-in and but the number

didn't go down but today the numbers did go down and I have two videos this one

here we're going to tell you how much I lost today and then one after this video

where it will be me getting on the scale and you'll actually see for yourself

that I lost that way um so as of today when I got on the scale yesterday I was

183 183 pounds when I got on the scale I was a hundred and eighty-one pounds down

so I have lost two pounds since starting the dry fast I'm a little over 24 hours

basically I'm going into the second day tomorrow which will be Wednesday the

30th as you want to look at the calendar that will make it at 733 a.m. tomorrow

will be a complete 48 hours on the dry pass now the way my body feels today I

probably will make it obviously do the 48 hour period what gets tricky is when

you get into going into the 72 hour I have also been working out 2 hours a day

I'm not going to stop doing that unless my body shuts me down from doing that

but I'm also trying to conserve energy because I have

do something on Friday I don't drive because that before we are driving so

what I need to do is in walking distance and I need to have my strength to go and

do that which is handle some of my bills for the first of the month and I need

that energy stove if I get up which I probably won't workout that day

I will just exercise from walking going to take care of bills on Friday if I

even make it to Friday I will you know just you know that would be my exercise

when I walk to go take care of my errands so as of today because I have to

write this stuff down I have lost a total of 67 pounds my

beginning weight that I needed to lose in total was 88 pounds I have lost total

pounds lost 67 pounds with 21 pounds left to lose I'm not only doing this dry

fast because of weight loss I've been from the beginning of my journey which

was in January 11 2008 een I have been not wanting to do like I did the first

two times when I had gained weight years ago because I've gained weight this is

my third time but the first two times I lost the weight fast but I lost it on

just scratching the surface yes I was detoxing the body from losing the fat

but I never lost weight on a cellular level so I'm doing two things and this

is why I chose juice fasting juice feasting for my weight loss my majority

of my weight loss and then dry fasting which I prefer to do over water fasting

because trying to not only lose weight but the

main reason people should detox and focus on losing weight is because one

you know when your body and your hormonal system is all cleansed out in

detox on a cellular level weight is not an issue it doesn't matter even if

you're 60 years old or you have menopause if you're hormonal ZAR in tap

they're clean you're flushed out on a cellular cellular level while you're

losing weight while you're on a weight-loss journey you're detoxing on a

cellular level and losing weight weight coming back is not going to be a factor

because you did it right the first time you lost the way and you were detoxing

why you were losing it all so you're well over well overall well-being will

you know become a hundred percent again if you have vision problems or if you

have diabetes or high blood pressure or all these skin conditions that people

have that are all from the foods that we eat in the air that we breathe those

things can clear up and possibly in a lot of cases go away and you could

possibly get off of medications that you're wrong

I'm not a doctor I'm not suggesting that you get off of any medications or that

this is gonna cure anything I'm only talking from my own experience but this

is why I do dry fast in juicing in these kind of detox protocols because I'm not

only trying to lose the weight I'm trying to cleanse and regenerate the

inside of the body if we can get that clean though and feeling new again the

body doesn't know internally you know you can basically trick the body into

thinking that you're younger than you are right now our insides for the most

part even for a 20 year old - our bodies we're old but if we clean

on a cellular level these toxins out of our system we will definitely we don't

live forever but we will live a better quality of life

many people who are thinking about plastic surgery and all these crazy

extreme things might not want to do that when they see how when you cleanse it

inside the outside that's a little beautiful as well your skin your eyes I

mean everything about you will start to shine once you clean on a cellular level

so keep that in mind and just understand why I am and you know fasting diva in

tea love why we are doing this not only for weight loss but we want to detox our

bodies on a cellular level level and that's more deeper than any kind of

weight loss that you're ever going to hear on YouTube usually you hear about

someone need to do one or the other they're detoxing or losing weight we're

doing both so with all that being said because this video will start to get a

little bit along just be looking out for the weigh in video and that's just me on

this getting on the scale so you'll love that that's no more than like a

two-minute video and again it's just real quick recapping that I'm at 181

pounds as of today which is May 29 2008 teen which is Tuesday in perhaps

depending on how I feel I probably will do scale weigh-ins each day or every

other day I don't know how long I'm gonna be on it so I'm not gonna you know

psych myself up or sound cocky with the each day or every other day like I

already have it in my head I'm gonna do five days I don't know how long I'm

gonna do but right now while I'm feeling good and I'm energetic and I'm not

feeling sick I did have a headache yesterday Oh

I went to sleep I woke up I felt refreshed and I even felt like I had

drank water from the night before because I wasn't even feeling dehydrated

but I think a lot of that plays a role with me eating and drinking clean raw

fruits and vegetables for a long time January 11 2008 een so the present time

has been at least four months of eating clean and when within that short period

of time this is why this dry fast head to me is not affecting me like it

could've when I did the first one when I wasn't eating as well as I should have

been it took a toll on me so we I don't know within 48 hours I could get up

there and be like I can't do this guys I mean it something something just hit me

like a ton of bricks I'm feeling weak I can't go on anymore I'm dehydrated

with dry fasting it's it's very imperative that you listen to the body I

think it's 20 times dangerous than water fasting it's more aggressive I prefer

doing dry fasting because I don't feel hungry I don't feel hungry on water fast

either because of the fact that my body is so nutrient if that's even a word by

all the fruits and vegetables from the juices I have been drinking and my body

so cleanse and detox out that I don't get those hunger pains and when it's

time for me to eat I eat and I keep it moving I don't eat to a full I just eat

you I'm satisfied and I'm good you know so you know there's a lot of things that

have changed over these last four months for me not only with the extreme weight

loss but with detoxing and I'm feeling the effects of it and live in a better

quality of life because of how I feel on a daily basis it is true that you know

if there was a choice of being rich and happy I'm glad that when I was a

question over the years I always said I would

rather be happy because my outlook on life I'm happier my anxiety is getting

better and it's all because of how I'm eating and it's all because I made a

choice not only to lose the weight but to detox the body on a cellular level

wild time I'm losing the weight and get myself cleansed up because losing weight

is not really detoxing the body a hundred percent

it's just scratching the surface of it yes you're detoxing a form of detoxing

because you're getting rid of those fat cells that are kept you know detail

butcha you know toxins but it's still not on a cellular level so with that all

being said you guys have a great day I hope you enjoyed this video please give

this video a like and I'll give two shares up I don't see too many people

sharing this video these videos like they should get the share that and get

the lights up leave comments show your support make the video a favorite you

know what I'm saying subscribe to the channel if you look at the content every

single day stop looking at it you know I'm saying and be about it subscribe to

Home selling mistakes: How to avoid them to get the most return - Duration: 7:08.

Welcome to Homebuyer's School brought

So before we begin, if this is your first

the latest strategies tactics and tips on

home buying, click the subscribe button

below, hit the little bell

so you don't miss anything.

Hi everyone, and welcome to another

edition of Homebuyer's School, today I'm joined by Eddie D'ambrosio, real estate

agent with remax elite and today the question we're gonna answer is, what are

some mistakes people make when selling their home? So Eddie you've had a

lot of clients, what are some of the mistakes they've--that you've seen people

make in terms of selling homes?

Well I think the first one is when

you hire a real estate agent, you sit down and discuss strategy,

pricing, and the process through selling your home, how you will

prepare your home for showings. Listen-- you know, listen to your realtor,

take that advice. I think the first point here is pricing you know,

there's so much discussion that goes around how to price your property, what's

the best price to list at, and so when you have that discussion with your

realtor, be--you know, be really clear on understanding the kind of--the best

price to go forward with and just any you know, you have to be able to

have trust in your realtor and knowing that strategy is gonna

work out. Sometimes you know, pricing your property too high is a huge mistake that

a lot of people make, they think well we'll start at a higher price point and

then maybe we'll just kind of work down after that, in fact that's

one of the biggest mistakes and most common mistakes that sellers make.

Is another--so besides you know, pricing anything in terms of the visual

aspect of your home like upkeep or renovations or so on?

So I mean,

cleanliness is next to godliness right, one of the biggest things that

any seller can do with their property is is make sure it's the cleanest

that it has ever been anytime someone's coming to look through your home, so

again I think a good real estate agent is gonna sit down with their seller

client and have a discussion surrounding cleanliness, staging and really paying

attention to all of the senses that a buyer has when touring through your home.

So how are they being visually stimulated with you know, colors and

furniture placement, going room by room to determine how does my furniture fit

in this room and does it make the room feel big, does it make the room feel

small? Another thing to be conscious of is it smells if you if you have pets

in the home, this is a big one I see with buyers all the time, we go

touring through some homes and you can smell that pet odour so for

my sellers we discuss pets and how they affect showings, so for some people they

choose to you know, have a pet stay with the family member or even go into a

boarding house for that time when they're--when they're selling the

property just so that you are with every showing, putting your best foot forward.

Is it--to make the house feel more

natural would you maybe put like--leave your pictures up or completely take them

down?

Well you know, this is always a sensitive one with--especially with

families and you go through a sellers home and say you know, take all the

pictures of your kids down, and to some degree I think maybe

de-personalizing a little bit, a lot of people love that show home look so

the better you can do to make your home kind of feel like a show home, have

things staged a little bit and de-personalizing can absolutely--can

help, and that's another thing to be conscious of when you're selling a home

is you know how much personal information do you have out there, do you

have pictures of your family and your kids, and some people are comfortable

with that, and some aren't.

Isn't it tough to live in a home that you're trying to

sell though? Like if you know, continuously keep it clean which is fine,

but I mean like til--you eventually have to live there

you know, so like are there any tips on how to avoid like--avoid ruining your

house too much or using it too much and to make sure that it's you know, it looks

right for the buyers?

Yeah I think it is challenging. It's tricky

when you know, you do want to become almost minimalist when you're selling,

you want to de-clutter and so what I suggest to clients is as you're getting

ready to list, also get ready to move if your intention is to sell that property

and move on then get some early packing done, de-clutter, get some stuff put away,

some totes and some boxes nicely organized away is a great way to do that.

But yeah, it can be kind of tricky to start living with a little bit less

around and everyday having to clean and be ready for people to look at

your home, so it's definitely a lot of work, but done right you know, that's

where, that's where your home shows really well and then hopefully that

whole process doesn't have to last a long time.

Now does--can you maybe block off a certain portion of your home or do you

really want to make sure the entire house is accessible for people to view?

Both are fine I think, you know, you want to be able to show

someone who's spending such a large amount of money on a property--you want

to be able to show the full home and all of its features. For some sellers

they may have--they may have you know, a room that's inaccessible and

that's okay and that's fine.

Besides you know, staging your home and

besides price point, any other mistakes people make when selling their home? Or

things that they should know?

You know, I think--I think just trust your

realtor, hire someone that's going to really put a lot of work into

marketing your home, develop a strategy ahead of time and make sure that you

have a really clear dialogue over the best way to approach the sale of your

property and then really just have trust and execute that strategy and

I think you have a recipe for success.

How Much Money Do You Want? Ask & Receive | Guided Meditation - Duration: 32:25.

Before we begin, lie down and get into a comfortable position.

Your environment should be somewhere quiet where you will not be disturbed.

Allow for your body to relax.

Quiet your mind.

Put aside any lingering thoughts or worries from the day.

Take notice of your breathing and start to slow it down.

Deeply breathe into your abdomen.

Exhale slowly.

With each breath, allow your awareness to increase.

Become more and more present in this moment.

Allow the oxygen to consciously fill your entire body.

Feel your vibration rising.

With each breath, your mind is becoming clearer.

Breathe in and become aware that you're breathing in

Breathe out and become aware that you're breathing out

Feel your mind and body being rejuvenated.

Feel your consciousness expand.

Continue breathing as you relax your body, starting at the crown of your head.

Release any tension as you exhale.

Now relax your forehead.

Your eyelids.

Soften your entire face.

Take a bigger, deeper breath as you relax the neck and shoulders.

Take note of how your body is now feeling.

Notice where any tension needs to be released.

Continue breathing as you release any tension from your back.

Relax your elbows and hands.

Your fingers.

Take a few more breaths until your entire body feels almost like it has melted.

Let us begin with expressing gratitude for all that we have.

Think of your successes.

Think of your victories.

No matter how big or how small.

Feel your appreciation for all of them.

Visualize all the money you have now.

No matter the amount.

See it right in front of you.

Touch it.

Feel the appreciation for this money

Once you start to deeply feel gratitude, see it as a beam of light illuminating from your

heart space.

Send this light of gratitude to the Universe with thanks.

Now, we are going to release any negative thoughts or beliefs associated with money.

You are replacing them with positive thoughts at the highest level.

Take a moment to gather any feelings of stress or worry about financial situations.

Releasing them will align you with the path of attracting money.

When you are ready to fully release, take in a deep, slow breath.

As you exhale, you are releasing lower, stuck energies.

In your mind's eye, watch them floating away.

Watch as they completely disappear into the air.

Repeat each affirmation out loud and with confidence:

I release resistance to wealth.

Money comes to me naturally.

Abundance and prosperity are my birthrights.

The money I want is coming.

I am positive about money.

I spend money with happiness.

Now visualize a moment of pure happiness.

A moment of feeling wonderful.

Full of joy.

It can be any moment you want it to be.

Continue visualizing this moment until you deeply feel true happiness in your heart space.

Your entire body is now emitting vibrations of a high frequency.

In your mind\'s eye, notice what these vibrations look like.

Watch as they soar out into the Universe.

The Universe is waiting for your request.

It is time t ASK the Universe for money.

How much money do you want?

There are no limitations to the amount.

Take a moment and think of the exact amount that you desire.

Say the amount out loud using the words 'I AM ATTRACTING ..... This, or something better.

It is done.

Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Now your entire being is vibrating in harmony with what you desire.

Know that the Universe will deliver it into your hands.

The manifestation cycle has now begun.

You must BELIEVE that you are getting it.

Have faith.

Have trust.

Know that the Universe has heard you.

You are supported.

You are loved.

You are nourished.

Believe that the money you desire is manifesting physically.

Your dreams of wealth are manifesting into reality.

Visualize yourself with this amount of money.

Doing this is allowing you to attract and receive money easily.

Do not worry about how it will come.

The Universe is bringing it to you in many ways.

Embrace your happiness about receiving this money.

Feel excitement.

Feel a powerful desire for this money.

Visualize any 1 reason why you desire this money right now.

You are consciously deciding to attract the money you want.

What are you doing with this money?

Visualize this in your mind's eye.

Be very detailed in this moment.

Feel the freedom and exhilaration.

Feel your wealth.

Feeling these emotions is the most important process of manifestation.

The Universe is delivering what You.

Are.

Visualizing.

Elevate your confidence.

Now elevate it even higher.

Take the time you need to visualize and to feel.

Hold this feeling confidently and powerfully for the next 7 seconds.

Repeat the following affirmations out loud with confidence

The Universe is conspiring to make me wealthy.

The Law of Attraction is working for me right now.

I am a powerful magnet for money.

I create money and abundance through joy and self-care.

I am excited about money.

Money comes to me freely with ease.

You must now allow yourself to RECEIVE.

Know that your desires are being provided.

Your only task is to receive.

See the steps you are taking to create your wealth.

Working.

Saving.

Giving.

Welcoming new opportunities.

You are giving more power to the manifestation as you do this.

See yourself spending freely with confidence.

Acknowledge the source of your wealth.

Acknowledge your Creator with gratitude.

The more you give, the more you receive.

This is helping you attract more money.

Repeat these last affirmations out loud with confidence

I am receiving money-making ideas each day.

I am freely receiving checks in the mail.

My intentions to receive money are a reality.

I am open to new ways of earning income.

I am the creator of my success.

I am attracting more money freely from multiple sources.

I am living in an abundant universe.

There is enough for everyone.

It is done.

And so, it is.

Beginning with a deep inhale and exhale, take your time and slowly begin to bring energy

and vitality into your body through movement.

Begin by moving your toes slightly.

Continue with other small movements in your feet and your legs.

Do what feels most comfortable for your body.

Allow your small movements to grow into larger movements.

Slowly open your eyes when you feel ready.

Once you feel fully energized and revitalized, take as much time to enjoy the feeling of

the prosperity that is on its way

to you.

How Much Does It REALLY Cost to Be on 'The Bachelor'? 3 Former Contestants Tell All - Duration: 15:57.

How Much Does It REALLY Cost to Be on 'The Bachelor'? 3 Former Contestants Tell All

If you want to find love on national TV, it'll require more than a winning personality and an arsenal of soundbite-ready quips.

You're going to need a wardrobe of glittery evening gowns that make you stand out enough to catch your suitor's eye.

Plus a few tubes of waterproof mascara, in case things don't go your way.

Then add false eyelashes, high heels, self-tanner, casual wear for day dates — and that's just to start.

With a new season of The Bachelorette kicking off Monday, America is in for another two months of watching unusually good-looking young adults battle for roses (and true love!) in exotic locations.

But even though the franchise may be blissfully removed from reality, there's very real money involved.

The internet is already buzzing about the $6,000 gown Bachelorette star Becca Kufrin is wearing in advertisements for the upcoming episodes.

The contestants aren't so lucky.

They have to cover their own costs, according to Amy Kaufman's new book Bachelor Nation: Inside the World of America's Favorite Guilty Pleasure, and it's not cheap.

Participants receive vague instructions, are told to prepare for a variety of climates and must pack as many as 14 formal looks.

So just how much does it cost to get your chance at happily ever after? Here's what we found out.

'How Am I Going to Pack All of This Into Two Bags?'

The Bachelor started in 2002 with a simple concept: 25 women would compete for one man over six weeks in the hopes of landing a marriage proposal.

The contestants all live together, taking day trips for various dates, and the star whittles the group down every week.

The Bachelorette works the same, but with the genders flipped.

For both shows, there are two instant challenges that come with getting ready for your appearance.

You don't know how long you'll be there, and you don't know where you'll end up.

That sense of uncertainty affected how Becca Tilley prepared for her appearances in 2015 and 2016 (yes, she was cast in back-to-back seasons).

She tells MONEY her naiveté saved her wallet because she didn't do much shopping before filming.

She simply borrowed a few outfits from friends, picked up some dresses from Forever 21 and headed to the house.

"I kept thinking, 'What if I spend all this money and get sent home the first night?" Tilley says, referring to the way contestants get eliminated over time. "So I just winged it.

When I got there, some of the girls were talking about how much they spent on clothes [and] I was like, 'HAVE I MADE A HUGE MISTAKE HERE?".

For her second season, Tilley says she spent about $500.

It wasn't any easier, though, to select outfits without knowing the destinations.

Bachelor shows are famous for staging lavish dates in foreign locations; over Tilley's two seasons, contestants went from California to Iowa to Bali, Mexico and the Bahamas.

"They send a packing list, but it's basically 'clothes for warm weather, clothes for cold weather, athletic clothes, dressy clothes, swimwear, cocktail dresses," says the lifestyle blogger and host of podcast Scrubbing in with Becca Tilley.

"I remember looking at it, thinking, 'How am I going to pack all of this into two bags?".

Tilley did the Bachelor on the cheap, but not everyone does.

Spending sometimes even becomes a point of contention: In 2016, contestants were recorded gossiping about Olivia Caridi, who they claimed said "she spent, like, $40,000 on clothes." Caridi later had to address the rumor on her website's frequently asked questions page.

"I don't have $40,000 to spend on clothing," she clarified. "I am a journalist who is just starting a career, and my checking account reflects that.".

Budget for Eyelashes

Bachelor women have it harder than Bachelorette men when it comes to getting ready.

There are statistics to back that up: E! News reported last year that female contestants spent four times more than their male counterparts to get in shape for their debuts on the show.

Marikh Mathias has anecdotal evidence to support that theory.

When she found out she'd been selected for the most recent season of The Bachelor, she ran into quite a few expenses that men probably didn't.

"I spent like $70 on eyelashes," she says. "I just bought a bunch because I was like, I don't want to run out and not be able to get them.".

Mathias says she was cast closer to the beginning of shooting than a lot of the other women, so she didn't have much time to get ready.

She stocked up on makeup like concealer and eyebrow product and got her hair cut and colored.

To keep costs down, she says she tried to mix inexpensive dresses with high-end ones, shopping at Nordstrom, ASOS and PrettyLittleThing.

Total, she spent about $3,500 — a sum she says she's fine with in retrospect.

"I really wanted to have a distinct style on the show.

I wanted people to be like, 'Oh, this is what we're used to seeing her in," she says.

"That's one of the most fun parts — what other time do you have to wear a gown once a week?".

That's another factor contestants have to consider: They're not there to only find love, but also to set themselves up for social media sponsorships and future casting opportunities.

Jillian Harris, who competed on The Bachelor in 2009 and ended up being The Bachelorette right afterward, said she remortgaged her house and ended up spending "something like $8,000 on clothing" when she went on the first show.

The contestants did get goodie bags, but she said the contents weren't useful.

"The girls do have to bring all of their own clothing and of course, they want to be wearing the best clothes EVER to be seen on TV in," Harris wrote on her blog.

Meanwhile, the guys probably "don't even notice a difference," she added.

It's Different in Paradise

For the past few years, ABC has also produced a spinoff called Bachelor in Paradise, which is essentially an on-the-beach free-for-all for past competitors.

Paradise participants are paid for their appearances, with Bachelor blogger Reality Steve reporting that some people made up to $15,000 in the show's first season.

Taylor Nolan, who competed on The Bachelor in 2017 before joining the Bachelor in Paradise cast last summer, tells MONEY the latter was easier to justify financially.

Fresh out of graduate school and in student loan debt, she'd spent between $1,000 and $2,000 on clothes and makeup for The Bachelor only to get sent home in week five.

But Paradise was a pleasant surprise. As Nolan knew she was beach-bound, packing was much easier.

She filled her suitcase with sundresses, sandals and bathing suits, many of them from inexpensive brands like PacSun and Amazon.

"Before going to Paradise, I definitely was wishing I hadn't got as much stuff as I had, because you don't get paid," she adds.

"After Paradise, I definitely felt more like there was a balance of how much I put in versus how much I was getting out — not only with my relationship, that was a positive experience, but also being able to make money.".

Nolan points out that not everyone is so lucky.

Employers are less than thrilled when people who just took leave for The Bachelor or The Bachelorette ask for time off to go to Paradise.

She says those who do manage to hold down a job sometimes have trouble juggling their various obligations, because "the experience of the show is all-consuming.".

Breaking News - Daniel Ricciardo dominated Monaco... but how much longer for Red Bull? - Duration: 8:31.

The 2018 Monaco Grand Prix was hardly a classic, far from it - it was slammed as 'boring' by veteran drivers Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso

With the race low on exciting overtaking or high-octane competitiveness, they may have had a point

However, one man who will remember the race forever is Daniel Ricciardo. The Australian, well-liked by all in F1 for his huge smile, affable personality and impressive talent, won his maiden victory in Monte Carlo after a weekend which showcased his driving skill in a number of ways

Ricciardo recorded the fastest times in every practice session on Thursday and Saturday, and in qualifying became the first ever racer to lap the circuit in under 71 seconds

With pole secured - more important in Monaco than any other GP, given how tough it is to overtake - and clearly in the fastest car, it should have been a 78-lap procession for the Aussie

While he did win, however, things were not quite that simple. For 50 laps he had to hold off Ferrari's Sebastian Vettel in a car which had suffered a drastic loss of engine power

He lost the MGU-K, the engine system which recovers energy from the rear axle and redeploys it

Red Bull team boss Christian Horner afterwards said it cost Ricciardo 25 per cent of his engine power, 12 miles per hour, or about 225bhp

Essentially, Ricciardo won despite the equivalent of a VW Golf falling out the back of his car

He was driving without his top two gears, in echoes of Michael Schumacher coming second in 1994 despite his Bennetton being stuck in fifth gear

Now, this comes with the caveat that this won would not have been possible on any other circuit in the F1 calendar

On no other track is it so tricky to overtake. On no other track do drivers go up to five seconds a lap slower than they are capable in order to conserve their tyres on a one-stop strategy

However, given Ricciardo was three seconds a lap ahead of Vettel before his power trouble, and then had to deal with a four-time world champion up his jacksie for the rest of the race, it took a huge amount of talent to hold onto the lead - not to mention psychological power

As Horner said on the team radio: 'Unbelievable. You have done an amazing job today

That is right up there with what Schumacher did in 1994 and this is payback for 2016

' Ricciardo has had nightmares in the principality before. In the 2016 edition alluded to above, he was pole-sitter, however a bungled pit-stop saw him fall to second behind Hamilton

A lesser racer might have felt a sense of deja-vu as his engine lost power, and allowed themselves to be swallowed up by the chasing pack

But Ricciardo is not such a racer - he is a champion in terms of talent, if not silverware

There is the rub. For all Ricciardo celebrated by drinking champagne from his Red Bull-branded shoe and dived into the team's rooftop pool, there remains every chance this will be his last Monaco GP with this outfit

His contract expires in the winter, and talk of a move to Mercedes or Ferrari - who look the most capable teams of delivering Ricciardo a first driver's championship - will not go away

Of course, Ricciardo can still win the title this season - after Monaco he is just 38 points off leader Hamilton with 15 races to go - but it feels like he is a definite dark horse, the outsider to Vettel and the Brit

Even if Ricciardo does win the crown, there is no guarantee he stays at Red Bull, where he has raced since 2014

Ferrari are set to have a free seat when Kimi Raikkonen hangs up his helmet. Valtteri Bottas' deal at Mercedes ends after 2018 and a renewal is very much in the balance

Ricciardo is 28. He knows this may be his final chance of a big, potentially career defining move

For all the big toothed grins, he is as ruthless as any F1 driver, as sharp-eyed when it comes to spotting an opportunity

Speaking to Sportsmail on Thursday, ex-Red Bull driver Mark Webber warned his fellow Aussie that Red Bull is a 'world class operation' and he may find the grass is not always greener should he leave

'If Daniel gets opportunities to go elsewhere with a faster car on more circuits around the world, he is going to do that

That won't be easy though, because he's in a sensational team,' he said. 'If they stay together they have to get him in a winning position, consistently challenging for victories which is a while off yet because of the engine situation

But it's certainly manageable.' Webber's words have echoes of a football fan in denial that their star player is about to be snapped up by a richer, more successful rival

He was speaking about engine trouble before Sunday, and Ricciardo having to win at Monaco in fourth gear

Ricciardo is a winner, as he proved in Monte Carlo, and capable of doing so in almost any F1 car

Which colour he drives in for 2019 is a question of which we eagerly await the answer
