News on Youtube Aug 31 2018

We're kicking off another season of Head to Head, but we got a new beautiful backdrop here in Homewood

Alabama at the Caliber store for all your hunting and fishing needs.

I also have a new cast member my buddy, Jim Dunaway here of the JOX Roundtable.

It's good to have you bud I'm pumped up about it.

Yeah, this is fitting, you know, because Auburn and Washington hunting down a big marquee win

out of conference to start the season. Auburn goes in is a two point favorite according to Danny Sheridan and

really that's like a home-field advantage with all the Auburn fans that are gonna be in Atlanta.

And I'm glad to see you still have your wits about you buddy. Witty Dunaway over here.

Alright, so we're gonna break this thing down and we're gonna start with our three and out.

In this segment we're picking basically three things that are

probable to happen

Or maybe not if you want to disagree with me and we're gonna start with Jared Stidham passing for 200 plus yards.

Yay or nay? Great defensive secondary All-American safety for Washington

but I'm gonna go over 200 yards, not to 300 yards.

It'll be a solid start to hopefully a Heisman campaign for Jared Stidham.

Yeah, I'm gonna go right under that 200 tick mark because you know

Washington being one of the best defenses in the Pac-12 a season ago leading in almost every major statistical

category. And let me tell you they were stingy in that pass defense. So I'm gonna go a tick under that

Alright

Jimmy second down. Any

100 yard rusher for either team. For either team both teams known for running the football. Myles

Gaskin the given. He's about to break Napoleon Kaufman's all-time rushing record at Washington

but I don't think he gets a hundred yards against Auburn's stingy defense and I don't think Auburn has a

100 yard rusher either. By committee this year a little bit more

wanting to see what Boobie Whitlow can do but that Washington run defense is gonna be tough.

I think Auburn wins the game over the top not running the football. My boy Boobie Whitlow. We've done some back handsprings. That kid can fly!

I agree with you. I think it's gonna be right under that mark.

I don't think anybody on either team is gonna be able to hit that 100-yard mark simple as that.

Both defenses are really strong in this. Third down. Browning three sacks. Yay, nay? I'm gonna say yes really veteran

Washington offensive line. Two seniors at each tackle position

but this Auburn front seven is legit

especially that line

they'll be able to rotate a whole platoon of new fresh guys in there and when it's all said and done by the end of

the day Browning not a very mobile guy.

He'll end up on his back three times. And I agree with you on that because I think that is gonna be the key for

victory for Washington if they want to win this game is they got to give

Browning time to settle his feet in and I think that is a huge component to this. I don't think it's gonna happen.

I think it's gonna be sack time for old Jake Browning over there. Three or more sacks. You look sleepy Jake. Take a nap.

Alright that's three and out moving on we're going with the Sweet Emojis!

So in this segment we're gonna look at emotions for the fanbase through emojis. After the Auburn Washington game

what kind of emoji would Auburn fans use? I'm going to hit 'em with the flex.

If Auburn comes out wins this which I have them picked to win it and I'll get to that score in a minute.

I think this is gonna give Auburn fans and obviously the Auburn family and the players and the coaches alike a lot of confidence. So

this one it's a big win. So a big muscular victory to start off.

I'm gonna go with the cowboy hat emoji with a smiling face because a win over Washington

away from Jordan Hare Stadium and just starts what should be a wild ride for Auburn.

Oh! Because they play ranked Mississippi State on the road.

They play ranked Georgia on the road and they play ranked Alabama on the road. So giddy up

It's a long ride for Auburn this year. Don't they have five opponents that are in the top twenty five ranked in the preseason?

Four of those though that are on the road.

Is what I'm saying?

Oh okay. Exactly what I just said!

Alright, well picks in a second but first big person on campus. We like to dig into those

famous alumni for the opposing team.

So who is your, I guess, favorite alumni from Washington. Not favorite because I will not admit to listening to his music

but it's perfect for this game, Kenny G!

Kenny G went to Washington. So imagine you lose a big game. You gotta fly all the way back to Seattle.

What better to kickback, recline your seats, put the tray tables down and listen to a little Kenny G

to get you back to Seattle.

That's my famous Washington alumni. And if Washington loses how many of those players and/or coaches are actually gonna be listening to Kenny G's. Zero.

Zero Kenny G's. None. Okay my favorite, I'm picking Bruce Lee. Bruce Lee. Come on man!

Went to Washington? Went to Washington. Best martial artistist out there and one quote that I have that I

love of his it says "you do not pray for an easy life,

you pray for the strength to endure a difficult one." Bruce Lee said that? Bruce Lee said that. At Washington. He did.

Purple Reign. Purple Reign. You got to have a little bit of inspiration

especially as you go into week one of the college football season. Cause it's here!

Okay, that now brings us to our picks and Jim I'm gonna let you go first.

Okay, Danny Sheridan's line is two. I think Auburn

covers that old fashioned SEC

Slobber knocker, big defensive game. It's a real saying slobber knocker. I'm gonna take a Washington

16-13 with three field goals from the kicking Carlsons.

You've never heard slobber knocker. No. You get hit so hard slobber comes out of your mouth. Wow, slobber knocker.

Okay, I've heard some other ones that are close to that. But okay. Anyways, I like it.

Okay I'm going...

24-17 I'm trying to recover from this one. I don't know. I don't have anything left in me, left in the tank.

I think this is gonna be a great football game. I'm really excited about this matchup.

I think these two teams match up really well and

oh by the way Auburn in the last 75 years has never lost to a Chris and guess what? It ain't happening on Saturday!

We'll see ya!

I'm glad to see you still have your wits about you buddy. You make it sound like I'm senile, but okay?

You know, you've been off TV a while you old guy.

Not drooling yet that's pretty good. I'll fire back I see you're still single.

Haven't found Mr. Right yet. This video was brought to you by Caliber, a luxury store in Homewood

Alabama that's reviving the finer things in hunting and fishing.

Washington State Fellows' Network, August 2018 - Duration: 9:02.

Hi everyone and welcome to our third

annual 2018 screencast. We haven't won an

Emmy yet, but we're thinking this may be

our year. My name is Kathe Taylor, and I'm

the Assistant Superintendent of Learning

and Teaching at OSPI. And I'm Andrew

Eyers, assistant superintendent at

Capital Region ESD 113, representing the

AESD network. Hey everybody.

For first year Fellows, this short

presentation will be new. For returning

Fellows, it will be an update and again a

reminder. But for everyone, the

information will let you know where the

road is going to take us this year. We

want you to leave today with three big

ideas: Community, Ownership, Responsibility.

If you read only the first three letters

of those words, you could say it's the

CORe of our work. In the next few minutes

we'll touch on each of these. Hey Kathe,

why is that picture there?

Well Andrew, it's because each person may

feel that their work impacts only a few

people, only one classroom, or perhaps a

single building. But in reality our

collective work has a ripple effect that

goes far beyond one person's sphere of

influence. Hear that sound?

That's the sound of rippling...rippling.

We're going to pause briefly to give you

a moment to read the slide silently to

yourself.

Like school districts and agencies, it's

important to review the mission and

vision annually. We hope you see your

work manifested through our vision of

increased student learning. Again that's

at the core that Kathe just talked about

of our work. We also want to welcome

special education, English learners, and

Career and Technical Education leaders

in our ranks. So here's a quick summary

of who is in the Fellows Network in 2018-

19. From its start, we have had English

language arts, math, science, and early

learning. We represent all areas of our

state, 220 districts and communities, and

we hold really strong numbers again this

year--over 1,100 Fellows. And I should

also mention that we now have Fellows

Emeritus, and they are out doing some

great work based on the work that

they've learned from the past three

years in each of their groups. Hey Andrew,

I know the English language arts folks

and the math folks are saying, "Wait, wait,

wait.

Science and early learning weren't there

from the start." Yeah. Yes. That's true

Kathe.

But, we have now joined with those four

other areas. Right, and we're excited to

welcome early learning back again this

year and science now in its fourth year.

So it's still playing on this, "Who are

the Fellows in 2018-19?" Here's a bar

chart that shows you the distribution

across the state. So let's take a few

minutes to orient ourselves to the

colors. In this case, red is ELA, yellow is

math, green is science, and blue is early

learning. As you look at the distribution,

what you can't see, perhaps as readily, is

that there are at least nine Fellows in

each of the content areas in each ESD.

Not surprisingly, the two content areas,

ELA and math, that have been part of the

Fellows the longest have the most

Fellows, but representation in science

and early learning isn't too shabby

either. And I have to acknowledge for at

least the second year in a row, Capital

Region ESD, formerly known as ESD 113, has

bragging rights for the highest total

number of Fellows. Although ESD 101 is

closing in fast. Andrew what ESD are you

from?

We get lots of questions about how the

network is structured, so we thought it

was important again this year to remind

you how the network works internally to

support your learning and the learning

of all of the cohorts around the state.

There are two things you should notice

about this chart. We'd first like you to

find your content area that's across the

very top boxes. And then as you look down,

you're going to see columns that explain

how the network functions. So I'll take

science, since I am the science champion.

We have science Fellows. Then there are

regional science coordinators. Each of

them leads a group of science Fellows.

And then there's a science Fellows lead

that is one of our regional science

coordinators. And then those people

all come together several times a year,

and they make up what's called the

Fellows advisory committee. We join with

OSPI and the AESD Network to provide

leadership to the full state network. So

just to summarize, we have regional

coordinators, one at each ESD. Each

content area has a Fellows lead. There

are four Fellows leads. And the Fellows

leads work with the leadership at OSPI

and the Association of Educational

Service Districts. We're all part of the

Fellows Advisory Committee. And Kathe and

I are actually part of that Fellows

Advisory Committee, as well. The bottom

line here is, if you're a Fellow and you

have a question, we want you to contact

your regional coordinator. They really

have all the answers.

So now we've talked a little bit about

how many Fellows there are, how they're

represented across the state, how the

system works for leading the Fellows

network,

now we want to talk a little bit about

why the Fellows network is important. The

network is focused on developing your

professional learning and instructional

leadership. The Fellows Advisory

Committee adopted a single leadership

development framework. It's called the

concerns-based adoption model or

affectionately known as C-BAM. And we

adopted that in all areas, so we would

have a common language. If we're going to

make a difference in improving student

learning and decreasing opportunity gaps,

we need to empower more educators like

you to lead change within your classroom,

school, organization, and community. It's

why we're making this investment. If we

can help you build your knowledge and

leadership skills, then you can help us

reach more teachers, more students, and

more community members.

So let's go back to the beginning of

this presentation and that drop of water.

We told you we wanted you to think about

three big ideas--community, ownership, and

responsibility--again core, and the core

of our work. Just as we said last year, we

want you to understand that you're part

of a regionally-based, statewide network

of educators. You are part of a state and

AESD initiative that has grown

considerably in just a few years. We want

to welcome or welcome you back to that

community, and we also really hope you

have a sense of ownership. The Washington

State Fellows Network is invested in

your professional learning. It's

important that you then take ownership

for that learning and make these years

count. And finally, we hope you leave with

a sense of responsibility to pay it

forward.

The Fellows network will help you expand

your instructional leadership skills so

that you can widen the circle of

learning by sharing it with others.

Please keep the learning going with your

colleagues back home. If you don't take

that learning back, we all lose. We don't

leverage the power of the network, and we

don't scale up to increase student

achievement. So we're counting on that,

and we're counting on you. Thanks for

your attention, and now we'll turn the

presentation over to the regional

coordinators. We know you're in good

hands.

Thank you.
