Agent-Based Modeling: A Simple Traffic Model - Duration: 5:22.

So, let us take a look at another interactive[?] model to, kind of, get some familiarization with the way agent-based modeling works.

So, get and open NetLogo. We are going to go to the Files menu and then the Models Library, and we are going to Social Sciences, in this case, and under Social Sciences we find Traffic Basic, and that is the model we are going to look at in this talk.

So, in Traffic Basic the idea of this model, which actually was originally proposed by a school child, was to try and understand what causes traffic jams. Right?

And so, if we hit the setup button we can see the, kind of, way the world is existing in this particular space.

It is essentially, imagine, a big loop with cars coming off from the left hand side, driving along the world, going off the right hand side and then coming back on the left hand side.

Sometimes referred to as the Pac-Man world where you go off to the right and come back on the left, or just a loop or 1-dimensional looped world. Right?

In this particular case we see a couple of things we have not looked at before. We saw the manuals before when we were looking at some of the results in the fire model.

But now you also can see a graph show up as well, it is going to graph some data for us.

In addition you notice that there is one car that has been highlighted a little bit.

That is [?] to feature in NetLogo that allows you to illustrate more in particular agents and what their actions are.

So, again, we hit setup already so no we are going to let the model run.

And, you know, originally the idea was to build a simple model of just traffic moving without any kind of hindrances or obstacles.

But in this particular case what you will see, is that the results were not as expected.

So, let us it[?] run, and see what happens.

So, as you can see, right, clearly, quickly, right of the bat, a traffic jam forms.

And, in fact, this traffic jam will persist throughout the course of the model unless, and it is robust to a wide variety of the parameters of the model.

Now, there are ways to set up the model such that the traffic jam does not form. For instance you can really reduce the number of cars.

But, you know, if I hit the model setup a couple of times, you see that it keeps doing that. Right?

And, by the way, you know. One of the nice things with modeling and simulation is that for curious about something like the stay model[?] I just made, for instance, the number of cars drew[?] dramatically influences the pattern of behavior.

Than we can, in fact, just stop the model, lower the number of cars, let the model run.

And see, that in fact, in a world with a lot fewer cars, we get a free flow state, or state in which the agents are moving at their maximum speed that they can.

In fact, there is a speed limit in this model [one?]. And they are basically moving right at it. Right?

But let us go back to the case where there is a traffic jam really quickly. Right?

So, in this case we set up the model, let it run. Right?

And one of the things I want to point out is: if you were to describe this model from, kind of, a traditional statistics viewpoint. Right? You may, for instance, characterize the minimum speed, the maximum speed, and maybe the mean speed.

And a lot of times people have fallen in to characterizing using mean as a characteristic description of a system.

But what I want to point out is that if you look at the model, there is no one - the mean speed would be right in the middle of this max and min, right; it looks like it is around 0.227 in this particular case, right? -. But there is no car that is actually moving at that speed for any length of the time.

What happens is: the cars go to almost zero, they go to zero speed when they hit the traffic jam, right? And than they accelerate, accelerate almost [linear uply. Right?] linearly up in terms of their speed. And then they go back down to zero again.

And so, the amount of time when the car is actually at that mean speed, is almost instantaneously zero. Right? It is very close to being nothing. Right?

Which means that the mean speed of the cars is not a good characterization of the cars.

And that is what is illustrated by the red car which happens to behave mainly in the same way as the rest of them.

So, sometimes it is very important, especially when we are dealing with a dynamical system that an agent-based model produces to look at the actual dynamics of the model and not just characterize overall averages and things along those lines.

And one of the powers of agent-based modeling is, because of the fact that we reafy[?] the entities within the model as agents we can then quickly build visualizations of them that allow us to, kind of, understand and come to grips[?] with those patterns of behaviour.

Home Solutions Made Simple: Outdoors and Indoors - Duration: 19:11.

- [Narrator] Today on Designing Spaces,

we're outdoors upgrading fencing with

a new and improved look.

When you're outdoors, sometimes you can't avoid

those pesky mosquitoes.

We've got just the solution.

Ready to head indoors?

We have lighting options for your home

and speaking of light, need to let the light

in or keep it out?

Innovative treatments for your windows.

That and more as we get designing.

(upbeat music) Meet Mark, salesman, father,

and all around pet lover.

Mark loves to come home from work,

relax and sit outside while his kids play

and his animals run around.

We've had this home for all of 40 years.

It's a generational home.

My wife grew up in this house and

this is the original fence that we've had

since she's been a little girl and it's the original fence.

It's getting old, it's getting rusty, it's broken down.

A few of the other problem spots that we have

is there's some hardware cloth down here

that I had to install in the bottom of the fence

where the animals would get out.

I've had to take this piece of board which is warped.

There's another spot down here.

I was really dragging my feet over

the last several years over this project

and realized it was really time to get going,

but how do I start that process?

I started looking online.

I went to lowes.com and I found a really great fence

that I thought would be perfect for my home.

I went to Lowe's.

I went to the fencing section and found

the Ironcraft fence and talked to the Lowe's folks

and said this is what I want from my home.

Can they come and do the measurements

and give me an estimate for what it

would cost to put around my home?

After they showed up to the home and

they did the measurements and told me what it would costs,

to me it was an absolute no-brainer.

That sounds great.

Let's do it.

I'm looking forward to it.

- Once you decide to make a purchase, the fencing,

whether it's our fencing from Ironcraft

or someone else's fencing, you always have to

make sure that you check with your

local building codes, especially for pools and/or any

other kind of commercial application the

consumer's gonna do because you gotta

make sure that you basically follow the ordinances.

Installing the fence is a very simple process.

The installers come, they clear everything out,

and they install the new fence with very little

disruption to the homeowner and to the neighbors.

In a couple days, you end up with an

added value to your home with a new fence

and you can start enjoying your outdoors.

- [Narrator] Ironcraft also offers the no dig fence line.

- The no dig fence is a very easy DIY project

that any consumer can do and it's

stocked at all the Lowe's stores.

- I'm very proud of my plant garden that I created here,

but I really wanna fence it in because sometimes there's

animals that come here.

I'm going to DIY it.

I don't feel like I need a contractor or anything.

I think I can do it myself with a very to install fence.

I've got all the pieces and I'm ready to put it up.

- The unique thing about this product

is you can go from heights of about two feet

almost up to four feet and it transitions very smoothly.

The nice thing about it is you can

install it with a simple hammer, a rubber mallet, and a two by

four, and anybody can do it.

The easy thing about this is it takes no measuring

'cause you could use the panels to measure,

it takes no digging the holes like

you would with residential or commercial fence

because the spikes actually go into the ground

and you hammer those spikes and then the

post actually goes inside the spike.

The post holds the panels up therefore,

it's a very, very easy and simple process

for any DIYer to do over a weekend.

- All done!

This no dig fence took no time at all,

maybe just a few hours and it looks incredible.

My plants look beautiful with it and I'm very proud that

I did it all by myself.

(upbeat guitar music) - This really was a

stress-free process.

My kids and enjoying this, my animals enjoy this,

I'm enjoying this.

We really did make the right choice.

Absolutely loving our new fence.

- [Narrator] To learn more, go to ironcraftfences.com

or our website, designingspaces.tv.

(upbeat acoustic guitar music) - My name is Susanna and I'm an

Associate Director here at Camp Live Oak.

As a camp counselor, I love getting the kids out in nature.

During camp we have a great nature arts and crafts program.

We like to use found objects such as shells

or some small acorns.

We also will go to the beach and we do great activities like

canoeing, archery, fishing.

We're so excited each summer for summer camp.

My job is to make sure that everybody's prepared

and ready to have a great, safe summer.

Let's do a backpack check, okay?

Towel?

- Check.

- Water?

- Check!

- Sunscreen?

- Check.

- Insect repellent?

Check!

- My favorite thing at camp is going to the beach

and doing art.

- We have anywhere from three to I would say about 200 campers

per week during the summer.

As a camp counselor, it's really important

to let the kids be outside and explore.

Alright guys, are we ready?

- Yes.

- Alright, come on!

- I personally probably spend close

to about maybe 300 out of 365 days outside

because besides working at camp, I just love being

outside with my family.

We do get a bit of mosquitoes and

since we're very close to the beach,

we also get no see-ems.

- Why are they called no see-ems?

- Because you don't see them.

- Oh I get the joke.

- You can hardly see them, hence they're called no see-ems,

but they come out in the morning and then the evening time.

Along with the mosquitoes, they're a little bit more of a

nuisance during the summer.

- The mosquitoes like me a lot but

I don't like the mosquitoes.

- We always tell the parents to make sure that they pack

insect repellent for the kids.

We tell them to apply it before they come to camp

and then to pack it in their backpack

and then throughout the day, our camp counselors are able to

help them reapply after swimming or after sports.

It's great, even though maybe the mosquitoes aren't so bad

or the no seem-ems, it's always just nice to have

a little protection for them.

(upbeat acoustic guitar music) It's super important

to stay hydrated, protected from the sun, and

protected from the insects.

I've been a camp director for over 10 years

so I know a lot about bug bites.

I love OFF! botanicals because it doesn't

leave a stick residue, it doesn't smell, and it works.

(upbeat music) Alright guys, you

ready to go home?

- [Kids] Yes.

- Did we have a great day today or what?

- [Kids] Yes!

- What was your favorite part?

- The hike.

- The hike.

Mine too.

(upbeat guitar music)

(upbeat music) - My name is Alena Capra.

I'm an interior designer and I own my own design firm,

Alena Capra Designs.

I've been living in this condo.

This is 12 years now which sounds crazy but,

it's seen a lot of changes.

Currently you are looking at the most recent design.

When I think about the one thing that I haven't really worked

on in here is the lighting, but that's where

I've been struggling and I really wanna do something

to brighten up the space.

One of the greatest things about lighting

is that it's one of the only design elements

that long after the room is designed,

the paint is dried, the furniture is in,

you can still sort of change that

and tweak it to really create a better

ambiance in the room.

If you have to modify or make something

a little warmer in tone or a little cooler in tone,

you can do that and that's what so great about the lighting.

My friend Mike works in the industry.

He works with Phillips Hue and he suggested that

in order to really brighten up the space

and do better lighting options, than I look into the Phillips

Hue smart lighting collection and he offered to stop by

and help me set it all up.

Hey Mike.

How are you?

- Come on in.

- Good, how are you?

- The hue portfolio is actually a really large portfolio.

We have a light fixture for almost

every single space of the home.

That also means we have some bulbs

but also non-bulbs and fixtures.

That's what I came here to help kind of

show her some of the new intricacies

of the system that she was not well aware of.

- Let's take a closer look at the

style and layout of my space to determine my home's

lighting needs.

This is the dining room area.

It's kind of situated right by the windows

so I love that there's natural light,

but I also like to be able to get

great lighting when I'm having a meal in the evening.

I also sometimes do work here so it also needs to function

as a work space as well, which is why I would

like good light.

Since I don't have recessed ceiling lighting

in the main living area, the ability to be

able to control different levels of light

and have some lamps here, a ceiling fixture here,

another lamp over by the sofa, allows me to kind

of pick and select the kind of lighting mood I want

whether it's in the day time and I want some brighter

light for say doing work or if it's in the evening and I

want it to be a little bit more dim and cozy.

While I did the best that I could

with the lighting in the room, I tried to spread out,

kind of layer the lighting and have it in different areas

to make the room more cohesive, but there's definitely a

lot of room for improvement so I'm looking forward to

kind of making some changes and getting a better

output of light and some more convenience with

the lighting in this space.

- Most people will get started with Hue

with one of our starter kits.

Comes with everything you need to get started for one room.

Get that set up and if you like it,

then extend to the next room, to the next room,

to the next room.

Alena, she didn't wanna just do one room with a home,

she wanted to do her entire home at the same time.

- [Alena] I opened up all the boxes,

got started in the process, screwed in all the new light

bulbs, changed them all out, plugged in he router

to the bridge, downloaded the app, and within

seconds at my fingertips I had this amazing

system to change out all the different hues

of lighting in my home.

- What's really cool with the Hue system is

not only does it have different shades of white light,

but also has full color spectrum as well

with 16 million colors.

What paint with light allows you to do

is to really transform that space.

Now not just helping you wake up or helping you go to sleep,

but now it really kind of allows you to express yourself.

Whether you wanna have the whole room red,

or a nice party that you're having, or holiday season,

turn it to colors of blue, you can really pick and choose

whatever you wanna do with this space and again,

transform it just with lighting alone.

Whether it's your app or through your voice,

it really allows you to have that

fun experience with lights.

Now lighting is as simple as telling

Google or Alexa or Siri, turn my lights on

or turn my lights off.

- This is honestly one of the coolest things.

So easy to set up and so many options.

From a design standpoint, lighting is one of the most

important things in the space.

Good lighting makes or breaks the

look of a room and the feel of a room.

Sometimes you really want that right

ambiance in the space and that is controlled

by the right lighting.

(music) - Hi, I'm Holly.

These are my daughters, these are my nephews,

and this is our crazy house.

- [Narrator] Life in the Mistouriti house

can get pretty hectic, especially when it

comes to cleaning.

- She gets mad all the time when she cleans.

(upbeat banjo music) - [Narrator] One big

issue for homeowner Holly was when the family

had traditional blinds.

- [Holly] With traditional blinds,

you have to worry about the cords,

the children getting tangled in the cords.

They used to try to hide behind them

and I was always scared that they were going to get injured.

- [Narrator] Enter Innovia blinds

between the glass from Intigral.

- We offer a full line of products that really

can go into any household or commercial project.

We offer lift and tilt blinds, tilt only, Venetian,

roller, and pleated.

We even have some home automation systems as well.

There's so many benefits of blinds between the glass.

First of all, your blinds are between the glass

so you're not gonna be cleaning them.

It's safer if you have children, animals running around.

- This blind, you're starting to see a lot more of.

This is an SSLT, or a single side lift and tilt blind.

With this, you still have a Venetian blind

so you have the metal slots.

We can tilt in and we can raise it

completely up out of the way.

- [Narrator] While the Mistouriti family

enjoys the safety of Innovia blinds,

Sheila Thomas is all about the ease.

- This blind is marvelous.

I love it.

- [Narrator] As an arthritis sufferer,

Sheila likes that she doesn't have difficult cords to pull.

- Pulling the blinds up, if they were very long blinds,

pulling them up with the cord hurt my hands.

It's hard to pull them 'cause the

cords are generally pretty thin.

- [Narrator] Not having to dust is also an added bonus.

- The air quality is much better since

we've installed the blinds.

There isn't all that dust resting on them.

- These blinds are going to last you a really long time.

They have been cycle tested 290000 times.

These are all made right here in the USA.

- We filled out a form online and

they put us in touch with a local installer

who came out and measured everything

and did all the install and everything

just went like a breeze.

- [Narrator] Innovia blinds between the glass

are also a great option for sliding glass doors,

perfect when you own a pool like the Richmonds.

- We moved to northeast Ohio about nine years ago.

We moved from my husband's work and we loved the area,

we loved the community, we loved the location.

We originally were gonna put curtains all the way across

and that was just too much to get in the way with the kids.

These are perfect.

They open and they close.

You don't have to worry about them getting dirty, dusty.

They look fantastic and you don't

have to worry about the kids getting tangled or any damage.

- [Narrator] Intigral also has products

for customers looking for smart home innovation

via their Innovia and ScreenLine brands.

- This one is called our swipe system.

You can simply swipe the blind and the blind will

work automatically.

It's run off of a battery pack so it's motorized

and it has a rechargeable battery.

You can stop it wherever you want,

you can operate it, you can even take this blind

and put it on a remote control.

The most advanced blind that we have is this system here.

First off, it's a wired solution so you

do have to wire this into a home control system,

but you can control it through some of the latest technologies.

You can take a tablet and you can

actually operate the blind that way.

You can even tie this into a smart home system

so it can be voice controlled.

Everything that you saw here today,

you can put in Venetian or in a pleated shade

all the way up to blackout.

- [Narrator] To learn more about Innovia

and ScreenLine brands, go to intigral.com

or visit designingspaces.tv.

- We've lived in this house for two years now,

right before our third child was born.

- Life in general with three children is somewhat chaotic.

On a good day, I might get an hour

to work on something and it might be one day a week.

The bathrooms are probably priority number 45, 46, and 47

on my list of to-dos.

- [Narrator] And that's where we come in,

calling in Mansfield Plumbing to help

give the Duesings some bathroom botox.

- It's a tough time right now for them.

They've got old toilets, some of them are inefficient.

One of them doesn't flush all the way and they both plug up.

- [Narrator] Enter the vanquish toilet,

a revolutionary new design starting

with side mounted seat hinges that make it easy to clean.

- That flat deck surface on the back.

When the tinkle does turn a sprinkle,

you can wipe it off real easily.

Pureclean glaze so it rinses well

and then that real powerful flush mechanism that we have.

I'm really excited that this is gonna be a great solution.

I think it's gonna solve a lot of their issues.

- [Narrator] A plumber gets to work

removing the old toilets while stylist Lindsay Laura

works with the family on design ideas

for both the kid's bathroom upstairs

and the guest bath downstairs.

- [Husband}] It looks good.

- Number one, you'll see it's an elongated bowl

and a high height so it's a very comfortable seat to be in.

We talked about it early on, is this no hinge seat.

We've taken the seat hinges off the top of this.

- Easy clean, that's amazing.

I didn't think when I heard side hinges,

I didn't really understand 'til I saw it.

- I want you to watch this flush.

It's a very simple lever on the side.

You get a full flush.

It looks like you got a lot more water

going through than you really do so it's still the 1.6 gallon.

All of that toilet paper that you

talked about gets pushed through.

- [Narrator] With a soft close feature,

that means no more slamming the lid.

- That toilet is really solving every single one of the

problems that we have as parents with kids who

can't flush and are messy.

- [Narrator] Finally, it's time for the big reveal upstairs.

- Wow! (loud gasp)

It's so pretty!

We love it!

It looks like a whole new bathroom.

- [Husband] It's a bright space now and it's nice and fresh.

- [Wife] Functional too.

- [Narrator] Then the guest bathroom is revealed.

- Wow!

They're so excited.

They're gonna love it and I'm gonna love

not having to pick up after them and

they're gonna love not getting yelled at.

- Dansfield, thank you very much for unclogging our lives.

Beeline Moto | smart navigation for motorcycles made simple - Duration: 3:03.

I'm mark and I'm tom and this is beeline moto

Beeline Moto is a beautifully intuitive navigation device that will change the way you ride

Nearly three years ago we came to Kickstarter with our stripped-back navigation device for bicycles.

We've shipped that to over 3,000 people and it has been sold around the world ever since

But we don't just ride push-bikes. Now we're back with Beeline Moto

We've taken everything that people loved so much about our first product

and poured it into finding the ultimate navigation device for motorcycles.

It's higher tech, it's tougher but at its core, is that same concept that took Kickstarter by storm in 2015

Beeline Moto attaches to any bike in moments with the twist lock mechanism and a variety of different mounts

Setting up routes just takes a few taps on the smartphone app

or you can even upload GPX routes.

And once you're set up, you don't need a data connection

It's very useful to have it when we are riding in a group.

You don't always have to ride in a pack, you can have your own ride and get to the destination.

You just have to follow one direction. It's very easy.

We've kept the interface intentionally really simple.

There are two modes for navigation.

There's Route Mode which guides you along a specific route and takes you through every single turn.

And then there's Compass Mode which simply points you at a final destination

and gives you the freedom to choose the route.

Some of the best parts of being on a bike is that

you don't have to be hindered by traffic

except for the occasional red light.

Beeline gives me that freedom to move through traffic

and know where I'm going but also create my own route if I need to.

I love the simplicity and just being able to get the information you need quickly is amazing.

It's waterproof and shockproof and has a really sturdy mounting mechanism.

Battery lasts for 30 hours of use and it's been charged by USB.

The display works great in direct sunlight

but also has a backlight for night time riding

and the app will track all of your rides, so you can go back and see where you've been

The thing I love most about Beeline is, it only gives you the information that you actually need.

Whereas when I have a phone up there's so much going on that you actually lose track of what's happening.

It really brings back that sort of purity of riding a bike again. You just put it on and it's good to go.

We've learned a huge amount in developing one product already

and all that knowledge and experience is going straight into Beeline Moto

We've now got a fantastic team behind us and a really great relationship with our manufacturer in China.

We're working closely with the motorcycle community and the feedback so far has been fantastic.

Beeline have been excellent at asking what we want, what we need,

so very excited that the new product' coming out and works extremely well.

We're incredibly excited to bring Beeline Moto to life.

With your support, we can make it happen. Thank you very much

Rolling… Just got to do the chinstrap up

We've decided… Policy. Hang on, one second.

Safety first

Alright. Here we go.

Hello its Kinoshita Yuka ( English subtitles by ~Aphexx~ )

so today! tadaa I made 12 portions of mentaiko fish egg and cream pasta

I've made this dish before But I made this one in a slightly different way

it was so amazingly E-Z peazy

alrighty lets see how its made

These are the ingredients mentaiko fish egg butter cream soy sauce and pasta

While you're boiling the pasta make the sauce

Cut up the perilla leaf

Cut the butter up so that it's easier to melt

Remove the fish egg from its membrane

Mix the butter mentaiko and cream

You can probably substitute this with milk

Since I prefer tasting a bit richer I will use cream instead

Soy sauce

And add the cooked pasta

Mixed together with the sauce

Once the butter has melted transfer to a bowl

After everything is transferred Add the seaweed and perilla leaf

tadaa its done

I have also prepared 500 grams of corn potage

itadakimasu mentaiko eggs are so yummy I've been all about them lately

It's got a perfect amount of salty flavor to it

and since its a creamy pasta its a nice mellow mild flavor the perilla gives it a very fresh flavor

Since we use butter here it's so rich and Gives it character

the seaweed is doing a good job as well It's got a nice Aroma to it

I also have this corn potage

its so yummy It's so creamy and yummy

mentaiko fish eggs are so amazing they're perfect for any meal of the day, breakfast to dinner

Another helping of seaweed and perilla leaf

It's yummier with these

I love the aroma from the seaweed and perilla leaf

Butter is so nice there ain't no going wrong with butter and mentaiko

Last mouthful itadakimasu

gochisosamadeshita the mentaiko fish egg cream pasta was so yummy

Dishes that are made with mentaiko egg are so yummy

And I love creamy pasta so much this stuff was the bomb

It was also very easy to make as well Even all the ingredients for the sauce are available at

a local convenience store and you get to use cream or milk in this

but using cream makes it richer

It was so yummy and easy to make wont you all give it a try And as always thank you for watching if there's anything you

THE DRIVE CARS SCHEDULE AN

APPOINTMENT AND MR. TIRE

DOTCOM THIS SEGMENT OF

DELMARVA LINE IS BROUGHT TO

YOU BY PENINSULA HOME CARE SO

IF YOU HAVE AN ELDERLY LOVED

ONE WHO LIVE ALONG THE AND

YOU KNOW IT'S KIND OF HARD TO

GET THROUGH THE DAY WITHOUT

WORRYING ABOUT THEM AND THEIR

SAFETY. OH YEAH AND WITH GOOD

REASON. AILING AS A NUMBER

ONE CAUSE OF DEATH FOR THOUGH

65 AND OLDER AND MORE THAN

EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND

PATIENTS A YEAR HOSPITALIZED

DUE TO A FALLING INJURY

THAT'S WHY FALL PREVENTION IS

KEY AND I RECENTLY CAUGHT UP

WITH THE FOLKS THAT PENINSULA

HOME CARE TO GET A LESSON ON

SOME EASY MODIFICATIONS TO

MAKE THE HOME SAFER HOME IS

WHERE YOU SHOULD FEEL

THE SAFEST BUT FOR OLDER

PEOPLE DANGER CAN BE LURKING

AROUND EVERY CORNER

ESPECIALLY IN THE BATHROOM SO

LISA BATHROOMS KENNEDY

SLIPPERY AND THIS IS ONE OF

THE MOST COMMON PLACES FOR

FALSE TO MAKE SURE THAT

THEY'RE SAFE TAKING A SHOWER

WE WANT TO USE A GRAPH ARE TO

INSTALL IT IN THEIR SHOWER

THERE AND DON'T EVER EVER USE

THE DOOR SHOWERED OR TOWELL

RACK OR SHOOK DISH FOR

SUPPORT CHARM AND MAKE SURE

TO INSTALL A NON SLIP BATHMAT

IT'S IMPORTANT TO YOU KNOW TO

HAVE THOSE MATS SUCTION IN

THE FLOOR TO PREVENT THEM

FROM SLIPPING INVOLVING BUT

THAT'S NOT THE ONLY DANGER

FOUND IN THE BATHROOM AND

OTHER IMPORTANT I WANT TO

SHARE WITH YOU LISA IS TO

MAKE SURE YOU'RE TAKING ALL

THE PRESCRIBED MEDICATIONS

WHEN YOU'RE GOING TO LOOK

INTO YOUR MEDICINE CABINET

MAKE SURE TO IDENTIFY THE OLD

AND EXPIRED MEDICATIONS AND

UNUSED ONES. SO YOU WANT TO

TAKE THEM OUT OF YOUR

MEDICINE CABINET IS THIS A

BIT OLDER PEOPLE DON'T

CONFUSE YES A LOT OF OLDER

PEOPLE CAN GET CONFUSED AND

THEY CAN TAKE THE WRONG

MEDICATIONS AND THAT COULD

SEND THEM TO THE EMERGENCY

ROOM ANOTHER HAZARD CAN BE

FOUND IN THE BEDROOM AVOID

BEDSPREADS BED LENNON'S AND

DRAPERIES REACH THE FLOOR IN

ORDER TO KEEP THE FEET FROM

GETTING TANGLED AND MAKE SURE

THE BED IS THE APPROPRIATE

HEIGHT THE DISABILITY RIGHTS

EDUCATION AND DEFENSE FUND

RECOMMENDS BEDS SHOULD BE 22

23 INCHES HIGH FROM THE FLOOR

TO THE TOP OF THE MATTRESS SO

I IMAGINE THERE ARE PLENTY OF

POTENTIAL HAZARDS IN

THE KITCHEN FOR OLDER PEOPLE

THAT'S TRULY SO A LOT OF

OLDER PEOPLE WOULD STILL LOVE

TO COOK SO WE TELL THEM TO

AVOID WEARING LOSE FIT

INCLUDES THOSE SALUTE SLEEVES

CAN EASILY CATCHING FIRE AND

MAKE SURE FIRE EXTINGUISHERS

ARE WITHIN REACH AND

ACCESSIBLE ESPECIALLY FOR

PATIENTS IN WHEELCHAIRS AND

SPEAKING OF ACCESSIBILITY YOU

WANT TO REORGANIZE HER

CABINET SO THAT MOST COMMONLY

USED AND AND FOODS ARE WITHIN

REACH THIS WILL PREVENT THEM

FROM HAVING TO USE A STEPS TO

OR OVERREACHING WHICH POSES A

POTENTIAL HAZARD FOR FALLING

SHORT LIGHTING IN THE HOUSE

IS IMPORTANT MAKE SURE

STAIRCASES HAVE GOOD LIGHTING

WITH SWITCHES AT THE TOP AND

BOTTOM AND BE SURE TO ALWAYS

USE RAILS AND BANNISTER'S

WHEN GOING. AND DOWN

THE STAIRS THIS SEEMS PRETTY

HARMLESS RIGHT HERE YOU HAVE

A BIG ROCK FOYER OF THE HOME

RIGHT THE QUESTION IS IS IT

SECURE I CAN SEE WHERE THAT

WOULD BE A PROBLEM A LOT OF

PATIENCE WITH DOWNS AND

MOBILITY ISSUES THEY HAVE A

HARD TIME WALKING THROUGH

THESE CARPETS AND THAT WOULD

CAUSE A TRIP HAZARD FOR THEM

TO ELIMINATE THAT HAZARD MAKE

SURE TO PUT A NON SKID

BACKING UNDERNEATH THAT

THE CARPET ON OTHER HOUSE

THAT CAN CAUSE WILL FALL IT'S

AN ELECTRICAL OR TELEPHONE

CHORD BE SURE TO REMOVE THEM

FROM TRAFFIC AREAS AND

CONSIDER REPLACING ROUND DOOR

KNOBS WITH LOVERS HANDLES TO

MAKE EXITING THE HOME A LOT

EASIER. AND PENINSULA HOME

CARE OPERATES HOME SAFETY

ASSESSMENTS TO PATIENTS WHEN

THEY GET OUT OF THE HOSPITAL

THAT WAY LOVED ONES CAN REST

ASSURED THAT THOSE HAZARDS

WILL BE ADDRESSED WHAT TO

THINK SOME OF THAT WAS COMING

SINCE BEFORE SHE HAD SOME

REALLY GOOD POINT. YEAH ME

TOO WELL I'M SURE THE RUG
