Real Truth: You're Going To Die - Duration: 8:55.
Hey, what's up?
John Sonmez here from simpleprogrammer.com.
I'm in Italy actually, at the top of Mt. Vesuvius.
I thought I'd record a video up here.
Check out the view.
You can check out the canyon, the canyon view from the crater.
Pretty nice hike up here, but I thought it would be a good idea to record a video up
here since I've been doing videos in all kinds of crazy places in Europe, pretty high places,
I suppose.
I thought it would be interesting to talk about something that is sort of, hmm, how
can I put it?
A way of living life that I think is probably the most beneficial.
If you think about it, if you look around, I mean you can kind of see there's a lot of
buildings, a lot of people that are living at the base of Mt. Vesuvius, a whole lot of
people.
I think it was—quite a few houses.
I don't know what the exact number is, but I'm going to start heading back so I don't
miss the tour bus on the way.
I better not trip either, that would be bad.
Some people are living here and Mt. Vesuvius will blow at some point.
In fact, it's kind of interesting if you think about it.
It's kind of fun to record a video here, because someday this video will be in a place that
doesn't exist.
Someday, if you think about it, whatever I'm recording here is going to be blown away and
it's probably someday soon.
I mean eventually Mt. Vesuvius is going to erupt and where I'm standing probably won't
exist anymore.
It will probably be blown off, this mountain, and land somewhere over there in the distance.
If you think about it, it's inevitable that this is going to happen.
There are other places like this on earth.
There are places where you say, "Why do people build cities there?"
You might even say that—some people say California obviously is going to fall into
the ocean, the San Andreas fault and all of that and we've built these huge buildings
and civilization there and so why do it?
I think what's interesting is that you can't predict when something is going to happen.
I mean it's inevitable that you're going to die.
You don't live your entire life, or hopefully you don't, trying to avoid that from happening.
I mean, obviously, you don't try to hasten that.
Or at least some people do, I mean they do have the Darwin Awards for a reason, but some
people tend to live in such a cautious way and this used to be me at a point, as to try
to prevent all disasters from occurring.
The thing is, the worst disasters are the ones you didn't plan for, that you didn't
foresee coming.
It tends to be that the disasters, the things that you actually plan for they never happen
or they don't quite happen the way that you expect.
You can spend a lot of time and money and resources trying to prepare for things that
are unlikely to occur.
Or when they do it –or like, I said, they blindside you.
There's a really good book on this concept, actually, a series of books.
I just have to recommend all his books, Taleb.
I'm just going to call him Taleb from now because I always butcher his name.
He wrote a book called The Black Swan which is—these black swan events is what he calls
them.
There's also a really good book, probably my favorite book of his is called Antifragile.
You can check that one out here.
Anyway, the idea is simply that the things that you try to plan for they're—you don't
know what they are.
You don't know what actually ends up happening.
What you plan for—it's really hard to—you can't plan for these kind of black swan events.
If you think about it, even just the people that live at the base of the mountain witnessed
blew Pompeii and whatnot, which I'm going to be visiting next, they had no way of knowing
really what was going to happen to them.
I mean now, now that people do, but to some degree you could almost say that they were—they're
in the same boat.
I mean we're all kind of in that same boat.
We don't know which volcano we've built our house next to, metaphorically speaking.
We don't know what thing it's going to blow up.
So that's why it's best to focus on one, not spending so many resources on trying to prevent
disaster, but trying to make yourself hearty against any kind of setback, being able to
not try to prevent something inevitable from happening, but instead having the strength
or resolve to survive it and to go on.
Also, to just realize that as much as you can prepare for things, you never know what's
going to happen so you might as well just live life to the fullest and whatever happens,
happens.
Whatever comes, comes.
It's a much better way to live and it's a way to actually live.
I'll give you a perfect example from my own life.
At one point, I was scared of flying airplanes and I finally decides, like I said, with what
I'm talking about now that I was going to get over all the fears, I was going to basically
live life in such a way as that it were more of a gift, rather than something that I need
to hang on to.
To some point I'll have to return this gift, and you know what, I'm going to use it before
I return it.
I'm no just going to hold on to it as long as I can when I get control.
I don't know when that library book is due.
I don't have the due date on it so I might as well read it.
I might as well enjoy it.
I started living my life that way and started—not trying to protect everything and prevent every
possible disaster and build this huge fortress around myself.
You can kind of hear about this a little bit if you haven't heard my story.
I did this talk at Xamarin Evolve Conference called 5 Soft Skills Every Software Developer
Should Know.
What it's really about is about this concept, about the concept of doing things that make
you uncomfortable and how that will actually help you to grow in your life and taking those
chances and those risks is what it's all about.
When you think about all the people that build their houses at the bottom of a volcano and
you think they're crazy, it's just—the difference between them and you is that you don't know
what volcano you built your house next to, metaphorically speaking, but they do.
At least they're aware of it, but you never know.
You never know what is the thing—what is the foolish thing that you're doing that you
can only see in hindsight.
You might say, "Well, they're kind of dumb.
Obviously, their house is going to be blown away."
But it might not happen in their generation.
It may not happen in their lifetime.
Heck, it may not happen for hundreds of years, who knows?
Or it might happen tomorrow.
But if you're going to live your life just waiting for—essentially in a preventative
mode, trying to prevent bad things from happening, it's not going to be much of one.
I know it because I lived that prison for far too long and now, it's not that I'm rushing
up to meet death, but if I cross paths and we have to see each other, then we will.
I'm not going to be constantly running around trying to avoid that and not living life.
Anyway, a little bit of a scattered thought here because I'm trying to navigate this path
and not trip down the mountain into the crater, be a sacrifice, but let me know what you think
about that.
What's your—are you being held back by fears by trying to prevent bad things from happening?
Should you maybe not worry about the volcano that you built your house next to?
Let me know.

Simple Change Makes You Powerful - Your Words Have Power - Duration: 13:17.
Hey friends Kris Krohn here with limitless TV and I've got my great
friend and peer mentor Wylene Benson joining today to talk about words of
life. Thank you for being here.
Thank you Kris.
And so excited about what you had to
teach us about what it looks like to step into our power with the use of
words and I got a couple of zingers coming your way cause I want to make sure
that we can extract as much amazing knowledge as we can from your incredible
life experience on how you've been using words to teach these powerful concepts
and manifest the life that you want.
Words have power or do they? you know I've got the amazing Wylene here and
I've got some questions for you because I want to get your perspective and I
just want to make sure everyone knows a little bit about you and who you are
because in the last five years since I've met you, I have witnessed you do
some of the most amazing things. I've seen you do things with your health that
after after months years or decades of problems, you've been able to overcome.
I've seen you do things financially. I've been able to witness you grow in some of
the most amazing ways and to have you here as a peer mentor leading a movement
of light and helping change people's lives, it's so exciting for me to sit
here with you today because this whole conversation of words and power you're
so perfectly equipped to share us your nuggets and your wisdom on what you've
learned so thank you for being here. You're welcome. Thank you. Thanks for
inviting me. You're very welcome. There's a lot of things we could talk
about that are quote-unquote important right? You know we could talk about
commitment. We could talk about dedication. We could talk about
perseverance. Today's conversation on words and the
power behind them like where does that stand priority wise for you in terms of
all of these other characteristics and traits that you could really be focusing
on?
Obviously there is a lot of power and necessity for taking action, being
dedicated, really persevering in what you want to accomplish but as I think about
what is so important in the beginning when you're wanting to create something,
when you're just even imagining you're just putting your imagination into it.
What do I want to accomplish? Words is what creates it. Words is what creates
the spiritual creation of it before it becomes an actual physical creation. So
we could push, we could do whatever we want. But if we haven't created it in the
spiritual we're just moving forward but we don't we're not really moving towards
a clear goal.
So are you saying that you've got personal experience with
maybe not putting the energy into your words but knowing what it's like to put
in a lot of movement hoping for achievement and yet not getting what you
want have you experienced that?
Yes definitely. In fact, you and I have had
conversations about that where I put a lot of
emphasis on a busy schedule and doing things that that I think are gonna get me to my
goal. But if I haven't taken the time to really lay out exactly and put it into
words and speaking the words on a daily basis as if it's already happened, then
it is just busy work. It's something that's just gonna, it's not going to take
me to the end result that I really want. Okay so people listen up. This is what
Wylene's dropping on you right now. What she's suggesting is that whatever
this thing called words have in power, if you don't have that going on in your
life then everything else is just gonna turn out to be busy work. A lot of
mistaking movement for achievement. So so, Wylene you're making an argument here
that our words really do matter and that they have an impact on outcome. Can you
think of a recent moment or experience in your life where you change your words
and they change your outcome?
Oh thank you. I actually brought a little prop to
share. It was when I was getting ready to come today. This board,
you brought your
3 day limitless board that you busted on
alright this is cool. Some of you, if you've been
to limitless you can relate to this if you haven't don't miss out any longer
you got to come to one of our next three-day breakthrough events. Tell us
what happened.
So this was a major breakthrough for me. This was the very
first time that we did board break out limitless and I hadn't done that yet and
so I wanted to participate. And I gotta tell you, I was pretty scared to do this.
I didn't know if I'd be able to break through.
You're not a trained martial
artist or anything rright?
Alright but you are kind of a ninja when it comes to words
these days. Alright.
So I, as I was looking at this this morning and I'm
gonna actually read these words and when I read these words they're not me. They
are not, they do not feel true in the least to me. It's probably been about a
year since I broke this board but when I wrote this this was my life. This was
real. This was true in my life.
The money is not mine.
There's never any for my
needs and wants.
I blame my husband. I feel powerless. I can't have what I
want if.
I spend it, it feels like I'm taking away. My stomach hurts I can't
have what I want.
This is so wild because you have been having the last couple
months like your biggest financial months of your life and you've totally
like taken like total financial control of your destiny and what you're doing so
like that's so wild that a year ago those were your words when it's like man
that is crazy because I know I've had you on stage at limitless touting your
most successful months ever in life and I'm getting your text from you and
you're crushing it right now.
Okay Wow I was a believer but I'm like a believer
all over again now. So what did you decide to change your words to?
All right so these are the words that I wrote on my board which at the moment I didn't
know if I could really believe. This had, this wasn't something that felt true in
my life but this is what I wanted to accomplish. This is what I wanted to have.
Clint and I are together on where our money goes. I choose where the money goes.
I'm smart with my money. I have always had choice with money and Clint has
always been smart with money.
So those were my new beliefs and as I read them
today. I feel like I could write these today as a hundred percent truths.
My husband and I right now are working together on our fourth rental property
which we chose together. We are working
Love our people here! are fans are like
yeah yeah! Wylene's a part of our real estate community and if
you're not, man you you got to click the link on the bottom and be like wow how
do I actually get the real help? I mean the videos are great but how do we get
the hands-on help? it's been awesome watching you guys grow. So four? that's big.
Yeah and we are working together. We had a sum of money that we had accumulated
and I wanted to do one thing with it, he wanted to do something else with it, and
this this first, I think Clint and I are together on where our money goes this
manifested because we both had a lot of energy behind what we wanted to put this
money into and we were able to come together and as a couple decide where
that money went and it was actually what he was choosing. So in the past I would
have looked at that as I feel powerless. I can't have what I want.
There's never any for my needs and wants. The money is not mine. I would have
believed that. I would have bought into that, that belief. But now we're choosing
together.
Oh wow this so exciting. So this is really what we're here to talk about
today. I want to drop the big bomb. If you're here watching this video, it's
like okay words have power cool. Here's the question I think for them. How do you
use your words to create what you want and put faith in that if it hasn't been
created yet? Because I think that's really difficult for a lot of people
they're like, okay Kris rah rah rah like all these cool things I go to your event
you're telling me that you just want me to believe in the unseen and then it's
gonna like mysteriously like woo! It's gonna magically appear? And yet that's what
exactly just happened here! So what would you say for our viewers that are saying
that's a little bit of a trial of my faith to believe in the things I can't
see. What would you suggest?
Well I have two things that you can do and
this is how I was able to write these and actually break through that board
believing that they can they could be true. And one of the things is choose
what you want to create. So choosing what the words the way that you want it to be
even at first when you write it down if you can't believe it
choose those words the way that you want it. That's the first thing and then once
you've chosen those words and you've written them down, then find evidence
that they really are true right now in your life. It's amazing because I think
about, there was a time when I said you know what I really want is a
recreational cabin where me and my family can create amazing experiences in
the woods because I grew up in Washington and I loved being on our five
acres of land surrounded by you know felt like just millions of acres of
nothingness. So many memories and I thought, man I'm in the city your urban
life and in and I don't feel like I'm giving my children that and so we
started speaking a lot into creation that we believed in having four years
before it came and it's funny I posted on Facebook this video like, hey we're up
here at Sundance we're celebrating that we're gonna have this lot
two years later we actually picked the lot even though we didn't own it. We would
spend time on it play on it and then two years later actually bought the lot and
now we're holding events there and like having
these amazing experiences and now we're just getting ready to break ground and
build a cabin there and I'm like, wow that's totally like the board. Sometimes
we speak these things into creation though and they take time to gestate
they don't always you know it's like they're the genie in the lamp I rub the
lamp today I get what I want that instant what would you say for those how
much patience do you think they're gonna need to have wylene if they know what
they want and then they choose to believe what they want, how long might it
take to get what they want?
That's a good question and I think we're gonna go I'm
gonna take us back to you maybe that very first question that you asked about,
what's more powerful the willpower and the determination and the perseverance?
That's where it comes in. The beginning of your creation has to be the words. You
have to be able to create that the way that you want it and then you begin
putting that energy behind it. Putting the action behind it the
perseverance the determination the willpower all of those things but
knowing that it's gonna happen the fastest possible if you put the words
down first. Now I know that you have a you do a daily power hour, you take your
time to visualize. Is there when you take your words of life is there something
that you do on a daily basis that helps create a practice around them to set
them in motion?
Yes definitely. I do a daily Power Hour I call it GPS. Grounding,
prayer, and scripture. For me it's really important to connect with that spiritual
power as well because that's what I'm doing when I write these words and when
I put it up on my vision board is I'm creating it spiritually first and so
it's important for me to have that that is a part of it and really focusing on
the the vision of it and I do have pictures that you know depict whatever
it is that I want to create and I have a list of my new beliefs that I've created
because with every single creation you're gonna come up against limiting
beliefs that say, no that doesn't exist yet. You know, you're lying to yourself
whatever and I get to break through those limiting beliefs every single day.
And the new beliefs that I come up with are on my vision board. And so every day,
I'm reading those, I'm visualizing. And then asking again, what is the next step
to take me to this? and what is the limiting belief that
would stop me? So take a look at the pattern that Wylene is laying out
here. She's saying, you got to know what you want and then you gotta collect
evidence for what you want and she has a process every day. She's got her GPS
where she's grounding she also has her prayer in her scripture study that's one
of the ways that she harnesses that. She connects to higher power. She's got a
vision board where she collects that evidence and grabs it all
together. What can you do? because when you decide what you want and the
limiting beliefs come up, what I'm hearing this kind of I think final big
nugget that just reminder for me is, all right you've used your words to set
something in creation and when the opposition comes or the limiting beliefs
arise you then get to meet them with new beliefs so we're gonna fight fire with
fire, words with words. So I get to know what I want with my words and then I get
to use my new beliefs to empower those words to spring forth my creation.
Right, so there's words in the beginning that helps to help you to visualize it and
then there's words throughout that are new beliefs that are going to help you
continue forward.
Boom drop mic! Wylene, thank you for being with us today.
Friends I just want to tell you here if you've enjoyed this you're gonna see

THE SIMPLE SECRET TO HAPPINESS | Everyday Steve 193 - Duration: 10:32.
if I was 16 and someone had come in but looked like me was like me dressed like
me was my age and told me some shit which was contrary to what I'd been
hearing in school then that would have really given me a lot of belief I think
I mean we really think so that's like what I want to do now now purpose over
profit my hustle game Steve but listen
okay so it is 4 a.m. here in Berlin and after four days of speaking and
traveling around the country and travelling around London in the UK my
speaking tour for venues for days is finally over
it's 4 a.m. a Saturday morning here in Berlin not slept probably for the last
couple of days but I'm incredibly happy and I've learned so so much for rapidly
speaking on all these different stages in conception concession its concession
right word in order one after the other consecutively not sure what word is but
I've learned a lot from speaking on all these stages in a very short period of
time and back to back because I'm getting asked questions and I've
probably done about 4-5 hours of speaking in the last four days so
sharpening nails proverbial sword anyway it's now time to leave Germany Berlin
very very early flight back to Manchester I'm actually in woods get
back I see many Pablo and check out this weekend and yeah just doing a bit
nothing really
it's 4:30 in the morning and me and Dodds need to go Dodd's is has made me
half an hour late Dodd's keep this in the vlog
that's our taxi there let's just call that
this guy has the same itinerary I have and their theory says clearly we have to
leave 4 a.m. and get an EVA there
look at this fucking guy half an hour late huh alpha now let me see the
itinerary 4 a.m. what are you gonna say to the everyday Stevie's
and safety if we miss our flight remember I was there misleading is
anything real anymore looking up to the ceiling woman place the plan in here rip
out the floors take it back to the original floors rip out the ceiling take
it back to the original ceiling and then make it look like next door knock that
room down lock that ring down open openness okay let's grab it then hello
it's pretty this something being presented to me as a presentation miss
Geller here she's a fraud with being young right now and also being relatable
I think my power is now for that for that generation like doesn't get old
when I'm 30 my power won't be as effective to like a 16 year old
especially like a black 16 year old or even like any sixteen year old that
wears a snapback do you know I mean I think that's like my part my power to
help them is is now if I was 16 and someone had come in but looked like me
was like me dressed like me was my age and told me some shit which was contrary
to what I'd been hearing in school then that would have really given me a lot of
belief I think I mean we really think so that's like what I want to do chipping
away at like schooling as well so that's why the teacher angle was interesting to
me was like you can get the teachers to change their perception as well it's
just as powerful because they're going to teach generations and generations of
kids a teacher in their lifetime what will touch thousands and thousands of
kids right they'll like influence them so if you can influence them they're the
ones that are they can have a much greater probably impact on my kids
if he doesn't fuck cuz he Crowley up to here in this just a lost soul trying to
find out what my thoughts go stuck in fairness as in number places I cannot go
put the hoodie up kevro's inning and that walks loco keep me going through to
my way to Sainsbury's just arrived in London so I'm speaking at Sainsbury's
headquarters today about about social media about our story at social chain
about Sainsbury's and ways that they can adapt their business in more traditional
sense to a more digital one futuristic thinking model and look at their
business through more social lens fun really fun never spoke at a supermarket
before so it's a new channel I don't actually I'm speaking in the supermarket
I think I'm speaking you know in an auditorium in the supermarket because
we're going to the headquarters now so yeah excited we've been doing a lot of
speaking in the last couple of days I think in the last seven days I've spoken
five times and it's funny because although when I'm making the
presentation often I I
I see a lot of things that I've said before they're saying there's always new
things to say when I get up on stage and there's people in the room it's
completely brand new to me and it becomes totally I get excited again even
if I said something a hundred times it feels when I'm on stage like it's the
first time I've said it so yeah I never enjoy preparing for talks I just enjoy
the bit where I'm up on stage and I think I want to transition to a point
where there's no slides and I and I tell the story vocally which is which is the
next step I think maybe for me hello thanks for your time I appreciate it and
it's not you guys are all really really busy as if Rena so thanks for joining me
today no one's really intending to what's your livestream nor did they know
it was happening so they often land in the middle of the live stream so that
the key thing is these two things which I'll touch on in a sec and these two
secrets what I'm about to tell you have led to social chain being responsible
for nine of the top ten branded live videos of all time in terms of
engagement our top one now these were fairly old numbers got 2.7 million
comments in the space of 60 minutes I'll tell you how we do that the first point
is about retention so the content needs to be captivating enough to hold the
audience's retention regardless of where they land in a stream once you have
their attention you're going to need to rely on that audience's attention to
make the stream spread further so by commenting on this stream saying
la-la-land you're inadvertently telling all of your
friends Natacha just commented on boo who's live stream that comes up in the
middle of your feed all of your friends then see that live stream and because
that live stream is so simple to understand your friends might chip into
and ask and try and answer the next question
oh oh I don't know I really didn't know I'd be doing this
business couple years ago so I I don't know I never wrote a business plan I I'm
I'm moving with the market as opposed to being romantic about where my
destination is so I could be doing something totally different in six
months to now if that's something that I believe in on a personal level as I as
my life started to change and I got a little bit more financial freedom I
realized that it did not matter and really that like it's real a real
misconception I had 18 yards deep bartlett wrote in his diary he wants to
be a millionaire before he's 25 he wants a Range Rover to be his first car he
wants a girlfriend and to work on his body but those two are kind of
irrelevant but those two things I reflect on now and I think I think why
did why did I write those things in my diary it was because I didn't have them
and so I attributed huge value to material things and at what upon hitting
25 when I reflected upon his goals I bought a range over and I'd I was a
millionaire I was quite disappointed in myself that those are the things that I
wanted because I I came to learn that those things aren't happiness they
they're really really far from happiness but some people are actually unhappiness
and I had to not want more valuable stuff or more valuables but value the
stuff I had more and so now I really I have like two suitcases and all of my
stuff that I own and my life can be fit into these two suitcases which is good
because I travel a lot and I'm just focused on you know trying to trying to
have a make a little dent in the world whatever that might be and I think
social chain is a great platform for us to do a lot of social good as well no
worries thank you so much for coming thank you so much Joe so the thing that
the thing is when I reflect upon 18-yard Steve
he was already happy and fulfilled because he was doing what he wanted to

social chain no matter where I am from on holiday or I've been working social
