Trey Gowdy Dropped A Game Changing Bombshell That Turned Washington Upside Down

Trey Gowdy has been at the heart of the biggest stories in Washington.

When he speaks, major news is made.

And he just dropped a game changing bombshell.

To the surprise of pundits and political observers, Gowdy announced he was retiring from Congress

after 2018.

Gowdy – who chaired the Benghazi Select Committee that discovered Hillary Clinton's

private email server – had become a stalwart in fighting against the excesses of the Deep

State.

His decision to head home to South Carolina was a severe blow in the fight to uphold the

rule of law and expose the FBI's abuse of power in spying on Donald Trump's Presidential

campaign.

CNN reports:

"House Oversight Committee Chairman Trey Gowdy said Wednesday he is not running for

re-election and plans to leave politics.

Gowdy, a former federal prosecutor, issued a statement saying he planned to retire from

Congress at the end of this term and would return to working in the justice system.

"Whatever skills I may have are better utilized in a courtroom than in Congress, and I enjoy

our justice system more than our political system," the South Carolina Republican said.

"As I look back on my career, it is the jobs that both seek and reward fairness that

are most rewarding."

Gowdy's announcement makes him the latest Republican committee chairman to announce

retirement ahead of midterm elections that are seeing a spike in Republicans headed for

the exit.

Unlike many other members, however, Gowdy was not facing a difficult re-election campaign

in 2018.

Gowdy, who was first elected in 2010 after ousting former Rep. Bob Inglis, became chairman

of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee last year after Utah Republican

Rep. Jason Chaffetz left Congress."

Gowdy tweeted a longer statement that explained he would like to return to the justice system.

Gowdy is the 41st Republican – and ninth committee chairman – to announce his retirement.

Liberal media pundits took this as a sign that Republicans know the cake is baked and

that the Democrats will win the house.

But Gowdy's retirement came on a day when a brand new Monmouth poll showed that the

Democrats' previous lead on the generic ballot had dropped to just 2 points and Trump's

approval rating jumped up 10 points—in just one month.

Republicans political prospects are on the upswing as the effects of the tax cut bill

take hold and Americans enjoy the economic boom Trump is presiding over.

But do you think Trey Gowdy should still stay in Congress?

¿Fake News?

devopsdays Minneapolis 2018 - David Washington - How I added AI to my '80s robot - Duration: 5:37.

Hi. I'm David. I brought a friend. I'm going to tell you a little story. It's actually a love story. I love robots. I always have. Ever since I was a kid, you know, reading books like this.

You know, anyone who has read Asimov, there's these fascinating environments and these conversational robots that were really teachings about humanity

and who we were and who we can be. Oh, yeah, there's all these toys. We were poor, so we couldn't buy them. But they seemed super fascinating and cool and cute.

And like everything that the robots in the books I love should be. But if anybody like picked one of these up and played with it,

they were disappointing because it's like, oh, it looks so cute. It looks right. But it's just a car that like can also, in this case, it could also like play a tape back.

And it's like, uh. So, then, like, I became an engineer and worked on a bunch of stuff that you already heard about.

And then I was in this vintage shop in Seattle and I found this one. And it's called chat Bot. And it just kind of blew my mind because I was like, what? Chatbot?

Like from 1984 with like Reagan era circuits on 1K of integrated circuits. Like, what the fuck is happening? And I opened it up. It has a weird cassette tape thing it. I had to tear that out.

And like basically I had this question. Like, can I make Chatbot the robot that I always wish that I had? Can I make a robot that fulfilled this promise?

I emailed the picture of the circuit to my friend, Rachel, who is into this stuff. And there's some Japanese on there. Maybe some of you can read Japanese. But it's just like the color of the wire.

So, I kind of had to just take everything out.

And I just started from scratch and kind of sketched out like how would you build out a, you know, conversational chatbot using all the technology that we have today.

And if anyone has read I, Robot, all the intelligence is in the HVAC systems. Spoilers. I used this thing in Microsoft service called Lewis that can recognize intent from language.

And I wired it up to a Node server that's running on Docker and all that kind of fun stuff.

And it kind of worked until, yeah. Here's a circuit. I'm going to show you how it worked. Do you want to see how it works?

That's kind of like a big now if it doesn't work, then it's going to be kind of awkward. Okay. Let's talk to Chatbot. Hello.

>> Hi.

Oh, cool. Tell me a joke.

>> What kind of shorts do clouds wear? Thunder pants.

Thunder pants. I'm going to Seattle next week. What's the weather like in Seattle tomorrow?

>> In Seattle, there is clear sky and the current temp is 85 degrees.

You can see how that conversational agent is able to take the intent and understand what the entities like Seattle and tomorrow and stuff are and do cool stuff with it. Sing me a song.

>> I would love to sing you a song. [singing] la la la la la

That's kind of creepy. And, of course, what are the three laws of robotics?

>> The first law is, the robot may not injure a human being or through inaction allow a human being to come to harm.

Okay. If you ever make a robot, like especially now, put the three laws in it so it doesn't kill us all. The pictures that you were seeing behind me were like the story of how I built

it and then it actually melted down on my countertop and burned everything. And then I tried to fix it and then it like completely exploded so I built it again.

That's the pro tip. If you want to build cool shit, make it, it's probably going to fail. That's all I've got to show. Let's walk for 20 seconds.

[ Laughter ] There we go. Thanks. [ Applause ]
