How Much Do I Need To Exercise Each Week? - Duration: 6:58.

Hello, I am Ty Mason of thediabetescouncil.com, researcher, writer and I have type 2 diabetes.

I want to emphasize that my perspective is coming from one with Type 2 and not Type 1.

Our channel is primarily for those with Type 2 Diabetes and PreDiabetes.

Today I want to answer the question How much do I need to exercise each week?

After you watch the video today, I invite you check out the description box for my new

ebook.

This is one of the most comprehensive diabetes meal planning book you can find.

It contains diabetes friendly meals/recipes, recipes for different goals such as 800-1800

calories per day meal plan, diabetes meal planning tips and tricks.

There are also tons of diabetes friendly recipes for everyone!

This is a great question.

And what most people want is a minimum amount, right?

Well, I guess when it comes to exercise there are those who just love it, those who hate

it and those who might do it if they have to.

Exercise packs a four-way punch against diabetes: It helps you lose weight, shrinks abdominal

fat, makes your muscles "suck up" more sugar from your blood, and increases the body's

sensitivity to insulin.

These factors are extremely important for someone with prediabetes.

Physical activity can protect you from developing diabetes.

There is a 30 – 40% lower chance of developing diabetes in moderately active people compared

with those who are sedentary.

Just by doing more and eating healthier you are improving your body's ability to control

blood sugar and reducing the effects of other risk factors for disease such as high blood

pressure, high cholesterol levels and body fat.

Now is the ideal time to make a real positive lifestyle change for your health.

Whether you lose weight or not, regular physical activity will benefit your health.

Regular physical activity also gives you more energy, builds confidence and can help you

to sleep more soundly at night.

You can combine your activity time with family and friends or use it as an opportunity to

reflect on things and listen to your favorite music.

If you asked most doctors, they will recommend that you exercise a minimum of 150 minutes

per week.

Basically 30 minutes per day for 5 days.

I have researched several areas for types and times of exercise and the following plan

gives you the 3 recommended types of exercises and the duration for each.

This is a weekly approach.

Before we get into the activities, I must ask that you consult your healthcare provider

before starting any exercise program.

The Three Types of Activity and Pre-diabetes

Aerobic activity Aerobic activity, also known as endurance

activity, is when large muscle movements, maintained over a period of time, make the

heart and lungs work harder.

Activity?

– Any type that you can maintain comfortably is ideal.

Choose exercises that you enjoy, such as walking, cycling or group fitness classes.

Starting off with some walking, static cycling or swimming will avoid too much joint overload

if you are overweight and have joint pain.

How long (duration)?

– You can split your total activity amount into minimum bouts of 10 minutes if needed.

If you have been inactive for a long time, start with short daily amounts and increase

this as your body allows and you feel more confident.

Remember not to sit for hours.

A regular break from sitting every hour is healthy.

How hard (intensity)?

– Progress slowly to a relatively moderate-intensity activity.

When doing moderate intensity activity you will feel warm, mildly out of breath and mildly

sweaty.

The 'talk test' is a simple way to measure moderate intensity.

This means that you can still talk, but not sing, during the activity.

How often (frequency)?

– If you aim to do 30 minutes per day then do this at least 5 times per week so that

you reach the 150 minutes total per week.

Distribute the sessions over the week and aim to have no more than 2 consecutive days

without physical activity.

When you start any new activities make sure you give your body enough time to recover

and adapt between sessions.

Muscle Strengthening Simple strength training on at least 2 days

a week is important for health if you have pre diabetes.

It helps to control blood sugar and improves the action of the body's own insulin.

Stronger, larger muscles use up more calories for energy so it can help maintain your body

fat.

Some activities, such as climbing stairs, digging the garden or walking up hill, combine

aerobic and muscle strengthening types.

These activities should work all the major muscle groups in your body such as legs, hips,

back, chest, abdomen, shoulders and arms.

When strengthening a muscle group, begin by familiarising the movement with little or

no load.

If you are using weights such as dumbbells, try to do at least 1 set of 8-12 repetitions

per activity.

The correct weight choice is the one which is hard to complete by the end of the set.

A repetition is one complete movement of an activity, like doing a sit up or bicep curl.

Flexibility Exercises Daily flexibility exercises can prevent pain,

stiffness, and injury of muscles and joints.

People often experience a sense of wellbeing and relaxation during flexibility exercises.

Some quick and simple movements can be found in our separate exercise sheet.

Yoga, Tai Chi and Pilates are examples of some activities which combine strength and

flexibility as well as balance training.

Well, there you have it.

I wanted to give you more than just a 150 minutes a week video, but also give you some

direction in which to start.

You make the decision of what exercise program is right for you and again, please consult

your healthcare provider before starting any exercise program.

Don't forget to get my new ebook and please, subscribe to our channel for many more videos

like this one in the future.

Thanks for watching.

I am Ty Mason.

How to tell if a girl ACTUALLY likes you! - Duration: 10:03.

Here are 10 ways to tell if a girl actually likes you!

10 – You're not just wallpaper This is probably crucial to know whether someone

likes you or not: they do have to know you exist, don't they?

Even though this largely depends on different situations and how well the two of you know

each other, I'd say it's a pretty good sign if she doesn't pretend you're just

some random object that's there.

The easiest way to see if a girl's interested in you, pay attention to how she looked at

you when you first locked eyes.

First of all, if you lock eyes with some girl you just saw, DON'T look away first, especially

don't look down.

That's another topic for another discussion, but just take my word for it.

Now, the reason you wanna make her look away first is because this is easily the best way

to find out if she's interested.

If she looked away really quickly, then she's simply just not interested.

Women don't wanna give the wrong idea to guys they don't want to get to know so they'll

look away really quickly.

However, if there was this hard stare lasting for more than 2-3 seconds just happened, you're

in luck because it means she's seriously interested!

Don't be like most guys, SAY SOMETHING!

It doesn't have to be a cheesy line or anything, a simple hey is enough.

Honestly, you could probably grunt and point at your crotch and it'd probably work because

it's obvious that she's into you!

Okay, don't grunt and point.

Ehhh or do it.

She'll probably laugh and think you're hilarious.

Just do SOMETHING!!

9 – Lines?

Only if they're funny!

Surprise surprise, girls don't talk to everyone.

I don't blame em though – can you imagine being hit on ALL the time with the same cheesy

lines?

So it's expected girls would have at least have to employ some sort of screening method.

Sometimes you meet people and they're stuck in a situation and they HAVE to talk to you.

Your job is to figure out whether she was in this situation or not.

Anyways, a girl has her friends to talk to, she doesn't need to talk to some random

guy, unless you're in the friend zone, and you met through friends.

However, if you met and approached her on your own and you didn't give off friend

vibes, then there's a heavy indicator that she likes you.

If she keeps hitting you up, you're doing something right.

When it comes to talking, just be yourself when you talk to her.

She already likes you, basically you're on the don't f*ck it game.

Just keep it real and don't say anything stupid basically.

Yes, this means you don't need to agree with her on everything or laugh at everything

she does.

8 – Naw bro, don't do that!

There are some people who can't tell if a girl likes them even if they matched on

Tinder – seriously, who makes friends on Tinder?!

Some dudes seem to forget that the girl did swipe right.

Anyways, like it or not, it's the 21st century and social media has a HUGE impact in dating.

Just don't be that creepy guy who stalks her posts and likes something from 2 years

back.

Even if you did do some let's just call it, background check, don't bring up her

best friend's birthday from 2 years ago and how wild it was no matter how much you

wanna know about what happened.

Just not a good look.

Also, don't be that type of dude who goes on her page and just likes every photo of

hers and her friends.

Or comment on how good some picture looks.

C'mon, tell her something she DOESN'T know.

7 – Kevin Hart?!

If a girl laughs at the things you say, that's a big sign she's into you.

There's no obvious reason for it, except that everyone likes spending time with people

they find fun and girls aren't an exception.

In fact, the more you make anyone laugh, the easier it is to get someone to like you.

But the easiest way to tell if she's into you, just say some joke that's really not

that funny and just see how she reacts.

However, here's a small warning.

If you notice you make her laugh, just keep it casual.

Don't overdo it by trying to come up with a new joke every minute you don't need to

be a clown, and it actually gets annoying.

Instead, keep the conversation going and casually drop a joke whenever you feel the time is

right.

6 – That body language Body language is one of the biggest indicators

of figuring out how much someone likes you.

You know how there are articles in magazines that say you have to watch whether her pupils

are dilating, whether her heart rate increases or keep track of her body temperature, blah,

blah, blah.

Yeah, that stuff is true, but you're not gonna be breaking out a thermometer right?

Leave all that doctor and nurse game play for later.

Basically, you'll wanna watch out for more subtle body signs, such as seeing how open

her body is when she's talking to you.

If you're sitting and she has her knees and feet turned towards you, that's a decent

sign.

Also, we all know what it means if she's sitting there with her hands crossed.

Not exactly a good sign.

There's plenty of research out there on body language that shows that most communication

is non-verbal.

However, we're not gonna go into all of it here.

The main thing is to see how her body is positioned towards you.

The more openly positioned she is towards you, the better.

Obviously if the girl is looking for ways to touch you or hug you, you're on the right

track.

5 – Oh I thought you left This one is pretty much the ultimate sign.

If a girl you've set your eyes on tries to talk to you again, you're pretty much

in.

Now, we all know by now that just because a girl talks to you, it doesn't mean that

she likes you.

Let's say you meet you some girl at some place, and you guys are talking.

You guys get into a good conversation, and it's been 20 minutes.

She actually somehow separated from her friends.

One of the worst things you can do is just follow her around wherever SHE goes.

Not only is this pretty annoying for anyone, but it's just not a good look.

Let her go do her thing and just wait.

If she comes back to talk to you, that's a great sign.

This doesn't just go for interactions out at the bar, the same goes for texting or calls.

For example, let's say, she texts you and asks a simple question she could have found

out faster if she googled it but she CHOSE to ask you instead.

She's making the effort so take the clue, and if you haven't already, start taking

the lead and ask her out.

4 – Oh I had no clue Sharing is caring, right?

People have a tendency of sharing things only with other people they care about.

Sure, you can talk random surface level topics all you want but if a convo doesn't go much

deeper than that, then it's not the best of signs, as you guys most likely don't

have too much in common.

BUT if you're talking to a girl and she starts talking about a more personal side

of herself, then you're definitely getting somewhere.

However, don't try to just ask personal questions straight away – just let it happen

naturally.

Make the right comments and if she's interested in you, she'll decide herself what she wants

you to know and what she doesn't want you to know.

3 – She hasn't posted all day?!

Speaking of social media, you guys know how it's extremely annoying when you're talking

to someone and they're constantly on their phone right?

Pretty much not even paying the slightest attention to you?

Well, you can use the phone-checking habit to your advantage here and determine just

how much a girl is interested in you by noticing a few simple things.

If she doesn't check her phone ten times during the hour and a half you spend together,

congrats, you're more fun to her than her live Instagram stories.

If she doesn't excuse herself to go to the bathroom seven times during your date because

of a "phone call", there's a little something going on.

But if she has her hands glued to her phone and she's texting ALL THE TIME while letting

the conversation between the two of you die out completely…...on to the next girl!

2 – She remembers stuff you've told her Girls can go to two extremes – not caring

and caring too much.

Honestly, both are bad.

The first extreme is absolutely not caring at all.

That's worse than caring too much.

If she's forgotten basic stuff such as your name – you should probably forget about

her.

Have some self-respect there dude!

However, on the other hand… a girl that likes you will know what you've said to

her; if she likes you a ton, she'll even remember WHEN you told her whatever it is

she says.

Hell, if girls WANT, they'll try to remember everything you've ever told them, from your

drink to how many home runs you hit in little league.

They'll probably remember the things even YOU'VE forgotten you've told them!

However that happens ONLY if a girl wants that to happen.

This pretty much means the girl likes you – orrrrrr she's a psycho that keeps track

of your life but let's all hope for the best here.

1 – I don't have time If a girl doesn't run away whenever you

mention a date next week, you're definitely moving in a good direction.

You guys have to remember, there's a bunch of dudes that hit on a girl pretty much all

the time.

Congrats, she picked you!

Remember that if a girl doesn't want to go out with you or if she doesn't want to

have anything with you altogether, she'll be able to find a good excuse.

But let's make something clear.

Just don't waste your time on girls who have absolutely zero interest in you.

Save your energy for someone else.

You can't negotiate passion or chemistry it's either there or it's not.

You can MAYBE get to turn a meh into a yes but everything else is a waste of time.

A girl knows if she likes you from the first moment she sees you.

Skip those sites where they promise to teach you how to seduce any woman.

Remember, you can't negotiate passion!

Here's what's next!

Keys to Success | How to stay connected to and maintain your life outside the truck - Duration: 5:09.

It is often said that truck driving is not just a job, it's a lifestyle.

A truck driving career is similar to many other professions with a lot of travel,

like airplane pilots, flight attendants and military service members.

There are things you can do, as a truck driver, to stay connected with family and friends

and you'll have our ongoing support to help.

Support from the company that you work for and support from home makes it so you can be successful out here.

Keeping in constant contact with my family. I can't be there physically but as long as we can speak to each other in some form all the time we're fine.

I keep in contact with my parents, I call them every other day or so.

I have a two year old son.

He's my world.

We have iPhones so we can FaceTime.

The other night I was helping my son do homework over the phone, we have a lot of that interaction.

I'll write a nice letter, what I'm thinking, maybe what happened during the day,

same things you might put into a text, if you write it out it means a lot more.

Just about every truck stop I've been to has either a mailbox out front or they'll mail the letter for you.

And, a lot of them even sell post cards.

You can send your family a little picture of where you've been and what you've seen during the day.

They're thinking about you and they want to know that you're thinking about them,

it's an important thing and it keeps the family together I think.

When I entered the trucking industry one of the big things was that I could bring my pet with me and as you know, Roehl has a pet program.

From national fleets with flexible home times to home weekly regional or dedicated fleets

to set schedules on one of our HOMEtime Plus fleets, the key here is finding a fleet that meets your needs!

I also got on a dedicated regional fleet so that I do go home once a week.

I stay out for anywhere from 4-6 weeks at a time because I get more home time, I earn more days off

and can go home and spend 5, 6, 7 days off, if I can, with my family.

I stay out about 18-21 days, go home for 3 or 4 days.

I don't need to go home, I don't feel I need to go home due to the fact that Roehl gets me through my home terminal.

It can be a great lifestyle, you just have to find what fits your personality.

At Roehl, we believe you deserve a LOT, a life outside the truck,

so you can enjoy your time, your way.

You're going to have time to be at home, maybe kick back and watch some TV or football

or whatever you want and get the grass cut or whatever you need to do.

Remember to take the time to do something fun and personal with your family.

I fly Radio Controlled airplanes as a hobby, me and my dad set aside a day to go out and do that.

If there's a movie that I know my daughter wants to see we buy those tickets in advance.

You find the things that you know you all enjoy.

Whether I take my kids to the waterpark, bowling, go to your local zoo, whatever you want to do.

When I go home this next time we're going to San Diego for my son's birthday.

We're going to spend a whole week out there, go to Sea World, San Diego Zoo,

we rented a little condo on the beach.

Without this job I couldn't take those weeks off at a time, so it is beneficial!

When I get home I drop my truck off where I park it, get my car and go get my boy.

Make the most of that time, that makes the transition going back to the truck easier

because you feel like you've actually done something while you where at home.

I actually get more time with my family than I did as a mechanic when I worked six days a week and only had one day off, yeah I was home every night but I was drained!

I can tell I really like this business because I look forward to going back out.

I come back out and get a little pit in my stomach from missing my family

but then I just look forward to the next time home.

Being a successful truck driver means understanding the trade off between your home time and how much you earn.

We offer many different fleet options so you can find balance.

Also, because of the great technology we have access to, it's easier than ever to stay connected with friends and family.

At Roehl, you will have full access to the support you need to make your career a success!
