The Ark Hotel in the Aberdare National Park

If you can visit only two continents in your life, visit Africa twice.

The Ark

Showing the diversity of Kenyans regions the Aberdare national park has to be mentioned.

It is located in the central Kenyan highlands on a height of 2,000 m,

three hours away from Nairobi, nearly exactly on the equator.

In the heart of the park there is the Ark hotel,

a very nice mountain lodge.

Usual safaris start at the Aberdare Country Club

and after having had lunch you leave most of your luggage there

and take only the required things with you into the hotel bus.

Normally it only takes 30 minutes to get to the Ark hotel,

but the breath taking landscape and the animals make the driver to pause often.

The landscape is the biggest attraction.

The hotel, formed as an arch, is located at a small lake with a salt lick.

Animals come here for water and minerals.

The 4 star hotel is looking nice.

More important is that you can see various animals from the hotel room, the restaurant and from the veranda.

Sitting there with a tusker and some potato crisps you can watch the elephants taking a bath.

Those who prefer to sit inside enjoy the same view from two windowed floors.

There is always happening something in front of the house.

Friendly guides explain everything, e. g. when the birds are feeded in the evening.

There are mainly elephants and buffalos, occasionally leopards, hyenas, warthogs and waterbucks.

Warm clothing is recommended for these evening hours

as it is getting very fresh on that height in the night - also inside.

Of course due to the wild animals it is not allowed to leave the house at night.

To avoid missing a sighting at night there is a buzzer in the room.

Hello everyone, I'm here to present about the issue for the Shangri-la hotel.

The issue can be divided into two that are internal and external issue. Now I with began will internal issue

Firstly, is that Insufficient manpower to conduct daily operations in the hotel. Conversely, a lack of adequate manpower prevents businesses from completing tasks and reduce the profit. (negative effect)

Secondly, is about the Shangri-La Hotels (Malaysia) 3Q Net Profit Almost Flat, Revenue Up 10.6%.

The affect from the increament of net profit force the following major

renovations at its Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur and increase the wealth of the shareholder of the company.( positive effect)

Thirdly, standards of the hotel staff not on par and forces the company to hired the employee from the foreign country and this will change the overall performance of the hotel.( negative effect)

So one of the strengths of Shangri-La hotels is the brand name.

In addition, Shangri-La hotels has been recognized worldwide for their extraordinary service and Asian hospitality

Other than that, Shangri-La hotel also leading in food expertise

As well as have a good reputation and customer loyalty.

One of the weaknesses of Shangri-La hotel is inadequate of staff with qualifications

Furthermore, the concept of Shangri-La hotel is outdated and does not appeal to younger generation

Therefore, high maintenance cost due to the renovation made to the hotel such as in the Lemon Cafe has lead to the decrease in revenue

Shangri-La Hotel may grab the opportunities by getting halal certificate given by Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (JAKIM)

Besides that, Current technology development in Malaysia could be seen from the use of SOTA (Smart Online Travel Assistant) and SoLoMo (Social, Local & Mobile).

On the other hand, association with worldwide aviation routes, KLIA, is one of the opportunities that more foreigners will have the capacity to visit Asia.

One of the threats facing by Shangri-La Hotels is the competition of the business.

Other than that, the pressure of the wages to the staff that working has cause the economic expanding into high-wage.

In a nutshell, the hotel facing high labour cost for import the foreign worker to work in the hotel because of the insufficient of manpower.

So regarding the recommendation, I just go step further by suggesting a recommendation to the board members of Shangri-La Hotel.

We decided that we gonna use Human Resources Strategy as the best strategy to implement.

As we can see HR Strategy will be implemented to the combination of opportunities and weaknessess(W1, O2, O3)

and also combination of strength and threats (T1, T2, S1, S2, S3).

The reasons why we suggest HR strategy as the best strategy to implement is because it can improve their goods and services to gain more profit in the future.

Human resource is a department within a company whose responsibilities include

searching for employees and training them, helping with conflict resolution, and organizing and helping with benefits.

So by implement HR strategy, all of the weaknesses and threats

can be overcome and company also can strengthen their strength and opportunity.
