my name is Daniel. I'm the owner and founder of the arcade hotel. Yeah a
little bit of everything. I mean this is a new idea so we're still kind of
figuring things out and it's my job to make sure that the place doesn't burn to
the ground in a fiery flame of shit. So I do a lot of the sales of marketing. I
focus a lot on the operational side of things. We're trying new things
at that.
We have 42 rooms. You have a single room, double room, quad room and the quad room
is actually with two different types of quads so you can have a
four single beds bunk bed styles. You'll have two TVs in there, two Nvidia shields
and at least one retro console so everybody can play at the same time.
One of the rooms of the Arcade Hotel is
the Fantastic Four. That is a quad person room with bunk beds. Also called
a four person room with bunk beds. Which is pretty neat because you can game
with your friends. Definitely gaming because there
are two tv's, two Nvidia Shields, plus a Xbox 360 retro.
Well, not 360, it's just the first Xbox. you also have very cool lighting. And look at this.
These are real Sennheisers. Real Sennheiser headsets, I mean, this is
the best since the audio quality is so great.
All that's left is for you to get a controller, sit down and just play.
It's all very intuitive and it works like a charm.
Or you can have a family room which is two double beds and yeah it's really
comfortable for even two couples I mean it's perfect for that. This is one of the rooms
which Arcade Hotel is most proud of. A double-double room, or a
double bed, for two persons, times two (whut). The lighting is beautiful.
You got a bathroom, sockets with USB connectors, really smart. You got
again the TV, with a Playstation one, and every
room has their own different retro console. It has yet again a Shield with tw controllers
so you can play again. And I got to say, its pretty great here. The bed
is comfy. Plus I gotta say that the view is on the gardens.
And I gotta admit that that it is really nice. It's quiet and
you can relax and take it easy.
This hotel used to be called the Aalborch hotel and my family has owned
it for about 15 years and about two years ago we expanded the hotel. We
increased the amount of rooms by nine rooms. We first started with some
retro gaming consoles in the nine rooms and then retro gaming in all the
public spaces and we've got a really good feedback for that so then we
decided to turn the rest of the hotel into the arcade hotel and that's kind of
where we are today. So yeah we decided to take away one hotel room and turn this
place into a proper game room. As you can see there are beautiful high-end pcs here.
We have the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3 Xbox one, Xbox 360, Nintendo switch, two big
ass 65 inch TVs, we got virtual reality; MSI VR one backpacks with the HTC vives.
So yeah we're doing pretty solid, it's a pretty solid game room. It was a
combination of choosing which companies obviously we wanted to work with but at
the same time there were some companies that approached us and we were in a bit
of a luxury position where we could choose which sponsors we wanted to work
with. And by choosing like you said MSI, Sennheiser, llyama, Teamspeak, Noble chairs
so yeah we had a chance to work with all of these amazing partners. They
wanted us we wanted them and it worked out really really well. Surprisingly
the Netherlands has a very large online retro console kind of scene. There's a
lot of people who are travelling around buying up everything, bringing it back to
the Netherlands, fixing them up and then reselling them or so.
We used a lot of these Dutch kind of websites as well there's "Game Over?" here
in Amsterdam near Central Station that focuses a lot of retro and
they have a kick-ass collection. So we did a combination of buying online, buying there.
People can donate so if you feel like donating we'll trade it off for, you
know, free night stay or so. If you book a hotel room here, bring your
stuff and then once you're here, we'll kind of give you a trade-off for whether
it's, I don't know, a few days of breakfast or a bottle of vodka or a
discount on your stay or something. I mean bring your bring your old stuff,
bring your comic books, bring your GI Joes, Transformer toys, bring
your games. bring your consoles. bring everything. Oh my promo talk! Come to the

We also do our own events like tonight we're having a Halloween party.

so we're gonna start doing Warhammer nights and actually have a few new games
coming out. We're doing board game nights, we're doing pub quiz nights. So make sure
